Libby, I hope you're right, but everything that I hear says that this will begin correcting in the months to come, but it's going to be a long, long haul.. There's too many lost jobs, people upside down with mortgages and people way over extended with credit for it to turn around quickly. People will have to cut back on discretionary spending big time. If you listen to Paulson, he's saying it will take 9 months to a year or more before the recent actions will begin to take effect
If I were to feel like I need to cut back I wouldn't cancel cruises right now, but I would definately have it in the back of my mind to do so. I wouldn't cancel until 70 days out uinless I needed the deposit. I don't think the full impact of the market plunge has really hit everyone yet.
You have to believe that there are some heavy duty meetings going on at cruise lines right now to make sure that they can survive. Not to mention airlines.
