Hello all.it is MRSA..that Corky is referring to..

and as a general BTW..the reason her DS ( and only child)..is looking into the trailer sale.is because of assets, and costs, and owning things and how much $$ she has and what her bills will be as she is NOT yet 62.and thus medicare is not on option..Medicaid IS BUT..you have to be darn near indigent for that process!!..and thus assets are disposable income etc..and thus she has monies that she cannot tap because of money
"available" because once again she has "assets".. it's the laws. and both protects and yet hinders patients needs/availability..so while it's far too easy to say stuff..UNLESS you have traversed this twisted path of a road.it's incomprehensible what is involved!!, and indeed this is the road they all now own..so heartbreaking..

unless you have a huge understanding of health care and it's coverages, and her being able to have someone with her 24/7..and her only son having a job, wife, his home, and bills..and not being able to be a provider..it's what he ends up owning..sigh..

also with her being on dialysis..3 days a week, and that is something that now started *CANNOT* end..EVER.unless she so chooses..and that is considered an "end of life choice"...

.the availability of care from Home health Services.no state pays for 24 hour coverage in a home setting..those days are decades ago gone...and her heart issues.( and the option of heart repair GONE..).she has NO one that can take care of her the other hours at home when she is not having care..therefore their is NO one to keep her safe..and her mobility is gone.and no one health care facility.. would dare release her to a situation of that sort.there are laws that preclude that!!
..thus the health *demands* 24 hour caretakers..so indeed this is where Rehab, and long term assistance kicks in..( my specialty!!)..and therefore her only option to keep her health she does have maintained...is to stay at a health care place for 24/7 needs...again it is so hard but it is what it is..
Prayers are indeed wonderous, and I add mine here too..I pray for comfort, and peace, and less stress..as this road is in a spiral that CANNOT be easy..but is it what it is.. may they all get the assistance they need at this time to cope..hugs Joanne

Joanne,

Thank you for this insight. Not having had the curse of having to go through this, I had no understanding. I really do appreciate the education. Such a sad comentary that a family is forced to go through such a process to provide a modicrum of care for their loved ones ...

Forever Remembered
Conniecat is back in St. Clare's...

SSM St. Clare Health Center
1015 Bowles Avenue
Fenton, Mo. 63026
636-496-2000 (general number)

Scrapbook Lady is the one who gave me the name of the hospital.

I've had an email from Connie's son, T.J. Nothing specific about his Mom, except that they appreciate all the prayers for her.

Joanne I knew that Connie had many health issues but not to that extent! Now we can wish for comfort for her.

Joanne, thank you for bringing us up to speed on how grave and precarious Connie's condition and living status is. With this new knowledge, it makes all the threads she posted so much more special; that she could regale us with her stories while living with such serious health issues. We all know she is a special woman, this just makes her shine even brighter. It is so sad that this happened at all, let alone at such a "young age." I mean NO DISRESPECT to either Connie or ANYONE on this board when I say it really makes you think twice when you complain about having to stand in a long line at a cruise ship buffet, or whatever....:( I pray for her comfort and may she have peace and serenity. And may the love she has shown all of us turn back on her and brighten her darkest days.

This is the stuff of my nightmares. So sad for Connie and hope that she does not have MRSA as treating that can be really difficult if not impossible. I hope that she can get to some sort of level ground and start to truly heal.

My thoughts and prayers are with her son who is dealing with a nightmare - just reading Joanne's post made me shudder to think what would/will happen to me if I am ever in this situation.

Thanks for the update Mary Ann.

Forever Remembered
In the past few days, I've heard from Conniecat's son, Scrapbook Lady and a close friend of Connie's.

Connie's infection is Sepsis, for which she's being treated. Scrapbook Lady said Connie's son reported that his Mother is in ICU because the medicine she's being given for the infection has made her blood pressure drop low.

Sepsis is a very dangerous condition. I will continue to pray for Connie. Thank you for keeping in touch with them Mary Ann and keeping us up to date.
