Prayer and Good Thoughts for Shipmaven, Please!

Thank you.

Went to the Orthopedic Surgeon today. She removed the Steri-Strips, dressed the wound and wrapped it. She said it probably will take at least 3 months for the exposed wound to heal - I must be careful with it - and that I'll have a noticeable scar. The thought of another scar on the knee doesn't bother me - I just want it to heal and not have any infections.

I was sternly admonished NOT to sit at the computer all day and to keep my legs elevated. So..........

Gosh...,,.so sorry to be left out of the loop on wishing you a fast heal! I can't take the concentrated sadness of this forum so rarely get here but noticed the thread about you when I came to find out how to send prayers to Lori.

Sorry to hear about your fall and hope things are looking better.

Susan - thank you so much for your good wishes. I have my little "cleanse and dress" the knee ritual daily. Hopefully, the open wound will continue to heal without problem. It will take awhile.

Thank for the updates Mary Ann -- glad the knees are slowly heeling.

Will you have to go through any therapy?

Thank you, Yonnie. Yes, my doctor is talking Physical "Terrorpy". We'll see. PT and I are like oil and water. What has hurt the most since my accident is my neck - and that's getting worse. The knee itself continues to look like it's healing - still several months to go, though before the open wound heals over.

Hope you and Joe are well.

Mama Duck, would you settle for a good looking, well muscled cabana boy type Physical Terrorpist? They're all terrors, but at least the scenery might be interesting.....

With this talk of 'cabana boys' starting up, I just wanted to let the rest of the flock know that ... (as an Episcopal minister) ... Any marriages which I may be coerced into performing on the ship are valid for the duration of the cruise ONLY!

Are you going to have xrays done on your neck to make certain that nothing serious is happening there?

We are hanging in there.

As far as PT is concerned....I call it Physical TORTURE, I always feel so much better afterward. And by that I mean after I cry "UNCLE" and refuse to go back. That alone seems to induce healing. My theory is that they keep you in pain to keep you coming back in hopes of healing.

I've been doing PT referred core muscle work the past 3 weeks. Intense. My trainer asked if I was motivated. I told her I was getting motivated to make my first voodoo doll.

Mama D, are you getting help for your neck?

I would hope that the doll would be a representation of your trainer, not "someone else".

Thank you, everyone. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow morning. We'll see what the next step will be. Perhaps a home traction device? X-rays were taken this past Friday. As far as I know, there was no significant change from the mess my cervical spine has been for years. But I'll be discussing that tomorrow. Pucci and I were supposed to go to a friend's home for dinner tomorrow night, but I called it off.

I'll report after I see my doctor.

Again, thank you for your concern.

Oh Mary Ann I'm so sorry to hear that your neck is acting up again. That fall sounded like it hurt more than just your knee. My prayers are with you that the doctor can help you find some relief. The furbabies send woofs and tail wags.
