Prayers needed for a dear, longtime friend

Lisa - Glo beat me to the punch in asking how AJ is feeling?

Thank you all for your concern. AJ seems to be doing well, considering. He's started treatment and has an upcoming appointment with a major hospital to determine if he is a candidate for further treatment there with a well-known (in the field) sub-specialist in metastasized melanoma. His spirits are good, despite dealing with the side effects of both his condition and the treatment. The prognosis is grim, yet he is determined to do everything to give him as much quality time as possible.

Thank you again for asking.

Sorry to hear of your friend's prognosis and of the others' friends' on this board. This is a sad remembrance of dear Hucc and what he suffered. Remember the good times.

Thank you, Seamom and everyone else who has responded or has thought about us. Speaking of Hucc, we learned the news of AJ on the anniversary of Hucc's passing.

Medically, the news on AJ is not getting any better. His spirits remain excellent, though, although he is fully aware of his prognosis. He's letting go of what is not important, and is doing his best to live life to the fullest for as long as he's able. Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers.

He's a brave guy, Lisa. I would like to think that if I were facing the same kind of issues, I too would find it within myself to be thankful for what I still have. Prayers continue.

AJ Update

Sadly, the news is not good.

We just got a call from AJ's Dad (with whom we've been communicating regularly for the past two weeks). The cancer has spread rapidly, and it is now just a matter of days. If I may, I ask if you would be so kind to please keep AJ and his family in your prayers--AJ for a quick and painless transition, and his parents for strength.

I last saw AJ about two weeks ago. I visited him in his hospital room and he was feeling quite well. Our visit lasted more than two hours, and we chatted about regular, everyday subjects, as he had asked.

Two days later, he was in ICU for an infection from his medical port. He is no longer in ICU, yet he is being heavily sedated as the painkillers he had been taking are no longer sufficient.

Thank you again, dear friends. He is family to us.

Lisa - I am so very sorry to read this. May AJ be kept comfortable for the time he has left, and may he have an easy transition when his final time comes.

Prayers go out for him, his family and friends. I know you, personally, have lost some very dear friends in the past few years.

Good thoughts and prayers are headed your way.

Oh Lisa, I am so sorry to hear this news. It is so very difficult to say goodbye to those we love so much. Prayers continue for AJ, that he may find his release soon and be free of this pain. Your friendship and support have met more to him and his parents then you can know. God Bless you Lisa.

Prayers continue. I've seen this happen so many times, but I really appreciate his attitude. Dwell on the good times and not the bad ones and enjoy each day for what it brings, for there are no guarantees. I hope his transition is peaceful and without pain, and I know it will be a huge loss for his family and for you in his extended family. I'm very certain he appreciates your part in making his last days pleasant ones.
