Prayers needed for a dear, longtime friend

Thank you all again. I am touched by your very kind words.

The only news to report is that he is now unresponsive, after days of drifting in and out of consciousness. We continue to wait while this awful disease runs its course.

I find that it helps to picture AJ stopping at Rainbow Bridge for a reunion with his beloved dog, who was his companion for many years. Then again, one of our cats might hiss at him--as much as he tried, he could not get on this cat's good side!

Thank you again, friends.

Lisa, I think that is a beautiful wish for your dear friend. May AJ and all his family and friends be granted peace and comfort at this very heartbreaking time.

I always like to think of loved ones that pass as being reunited with all those they have lost here on earth. I also like to think they will be waiting for me when my time comes. I hope your friend has a peaceful transition from here to there.

I know that I learned what the word "vigil" really means at a time like you are experiencing now. It is so hard to bear. ....and it always makes me think of the line in Milton's sonnet..."they also serve who only stand and wait".

Hugs to you Lisa and prayers for AJ and all who love him! .....and I'm betting that the cat hisses at him when he stops by the Rainbow bridge to gather up his beloved dog!

Of course he will stop at the Rainbow Bridge to pick up his furbaby when his time comes! I plan to do the same. I sincerely hope his transition will be peaceful and pain free. Hugs to you and all who are participating in the vigil, as I know you hate to lose a friend.

Never easy to say goodbye to a loved one, and though he be non-responsive, his spirit will know that you are there. Prayers continue.

Thank you all again. Your words were most comforting to us.

Tonight brought the sad news we had been expecting. AJ passed peacefully about two hours ago. Although we knew this was coming soon, and had already started the grieving process, it certainly feels different now that he is truly gone. His parents, obviously, are devastated.

Thank you all again.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. When my mother passed from pancreatic cancer, hospice kept us informed about how close the time was & as you said, we knew it was coming & the grieving process had begun but when she actually passed it hit us like a ton of bricks. I guess it was the finality of it all. For me, I had such mixed feelings as I knew I was going to miss her so very very much but I also could not stand to watch her suffer & in that sense, I was relieved when it was over. She was free from the horrible disease that had taken over her body.

My deepest sympathies to you and his family. The pain is deep right now but it is true what they say, time heals all wounds. He'll always be missed but gradually the pain will get less & he will be remembered not with so much sadness but in the great friend that he was.

Please add my sympathy with all the others. I'm so sorry you have to lose a friend. I can't imagine the grief his parents must feel. Losing a child has got to be the most devastating pain on earth. I hope in time they can find peace and a way to live with the loss. It has to be a comfort to them to have good friends like you.
