Veendam Ducks and DITs!!!

ShipMaven

Forever Remembered
Let's see...my suitcases arrived in New York today, the boxes with Duck Crew items arrived in New York today, and I'll be arriving in New York tomorrow (Friday).

Well...wait a minute. A change of plans late this afternoon. I'll be admitted to the hospital tomorrow because the wound on my leg suddenly became badly infected (the doctor wanted to admit me tonight). I'm absolutely devastated. It seems there's this dark cloud sitting above me. Either that, or there are pigeons flying overhead that are using me for target practice. :madd:

I thank you for your emails and phone calls this evening. This is like a bad dream.

Judi and Mal D will now be hosting in my place (THANK YOU, SIS AND MAL) - I assure you that you'll be in good hands. Thank you also to JacquieP and Leon who will help ensure that the two ducky boxes get to the ship.

Dear Friend,
You will be sorely missed, and we will gladly fill in the hosting roles. However, our first and most important role is sending Prayers your way to get you back in good health.

VERY well said, Mal.

G-d willing, I hope to see as many of you as possible in NYC tomorrow. I expect to get to the Sheraton lobby by 10:15-10:30 am. I'm happy to give advice on how to plan your day. I grew up in NYC and go there frequently for business. I do wish ShipMaven could be there, yet as Mal says, her health comes first.

Safe travels, all.

Sis, I'm heartbroken that we won't be seeing you. :bawl:

But, as I told you last night, and Mal said this morning, your health is the most important thing. Prayers heading your way that they find the cause of the infection and treat it quickly.

For all the Ducks, Ducklings and DITs, you should have my cell phone number. If you don't, please pm me so I can send it to you should you have any questions before we arrive at the terminal.

Oh Mary Ann -- I am so sad to hear that your leg is infected and you will have to go to the hospital and miss your cruise.

Prayers that the doctors will get the infection cleared up quickly.

Mary Ann, Even though I am not one of the duck crew I feel so bad that you won't be able to make it. You have worked long and hard and I can tell you love your people. You are not just a "travel agent" but a beloved friend to all of you people. I am sorry I will not have the opportunity to meet you. You will be missed by many people, including myself. May God speed your recovery and bring you back to good health. Susan:(

Cause then you would want to go too!

I wanted to tell everyone to have a wonderful time. I know that Mama Duck's news will put a damper on the entire cruise, but I also know that she would want you all to have a great time. You'll be under safe wings with Judi and what's-his-name, and if any crabs start crawling up the toilets, put them all outside Mal's door.

Bon Voyage Duckies!

Oh, good, now I know what to do with any crabs I might find! What about lobsters and crawfish????? jk, sk, Audrey, Leon and I spent the day with Lisa, and we all went on a "Circle the Island" tour while Audrey went to a show. Lisa, is a marvelous tour guide and we enjoyed spending time with her so much! Thanks again, Lisa!!! I tried to call Calgon and Pat, but am having problems getting a good cell phone signal. We actually ran into (almost literally) Jim and Patti in the hotel lobby when we arrived, finally, yesterday. All I can say is that flying is a living nightmare, and I'll leave it at that. I'm not afraid of it, but the impersonal, unhelpful attitudes of several employees of a certain airline with the initials of AA just plain stink. It is certainly not my fault that DWF had a hail storm and that they couldn't even manage to get us to NYC in time to cruise when we were trying to leave TWO days ahead of time. See all you duckies tomorrow!

Jacquie, you are so sweet to post the above note. I had a marvelous time today with Jacquie, Leon, jk, sk, and audrey. I highly recommend the Circle Line boat tour around Manhattan island. (Was there any surprise we'd end up on a boat?) Thank you all for giving me a wonderful day.

Bon voyage to the Ducks... and GET WELL wishes to Mama Duck.

Well this is it!!!

In a few short hours we will be converging on what was the MS Veendam, and soon to be christened the QS DUCKENDAM…..I hope HAL got the hull of the ship painted Duck Yellow as requested!

Our only regret is that the fine Lady that put sooooooooo much work into this was not able to join us……..we will miss you Mama Duck, but know that you have a whole flock pulling for you to get your wings flapping, and the AFLACK back in you Quack!

Gotta run for my morning OLIVES……See you all in a while!

Another round of thanks from missing Mama Duck. I wish I could have been with you.

I'm glad that those who took the Circle Line tour in NYC remembered by recommendation way back when!

We're home as well.

We had a great time and I hope everyone else did, too.

Mama Duck, you were missed BIG TIME!

We're home as well.

It was a great time, but Mama Duck was sorely missed.

These two duckies are still waiting in the Newark Airport for a 3:15 pm flight. We saw several of "the crew" walk past the bus while we were waiting for Mary Ann. When we finally found out the bus was waiting for poor homebound Mama Duck, we told them she had been grounded and was in Arizona, not NYC. Such a wonderful cruise with the best friends ever! We'll miss Charles quacking on the balcony every morning!
