Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth met HMS Queen Elizabeth for the first time on Thursday, Jul. 6, 2017 off the coast of Scotland. The rendezvous of the two ships, that share the same name and who were both christened by The Queen, took place in the Moray Firth off the coast of Scotland during Queen Elizabeth’s 13-night tour of the British Isles.
It is a huge honour for myself and the crew of Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth to meet HMS Queen Elizabeth for the first time,” said Captain Inger Klein Thorhauge of Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth. “To share the sea with the Royal Navy’s lead ship of the Queen Elizabeth-class of aircraft carrier and the largest warship ever built for the UK is a pleasure and I would like to take this opportunity to wish Commander Kyd and his crew well with their sea trials.”
