Two Viking River Cruises’ Viking Freya crewmembers die after striking bridge

Two crew members were on the ship’s bridge as it hit a bridge over a canal near the Danube close to the southern German town of Erlangen. All passengers were rescued unharmed.

Two men on board the river cruiser died near the southern German town of Erlangen on Sunday when the boat hit a railway bridge. Emergency personnel were dispatched to the location on the canal connecting the Danube and Main rivers.

“The dead were two men, aged 33 and 49,” and both crew members, said a police spokesman.
