Okay have a question and that is how do you get back on the catamaran after you swim a short distance. Thanks Surfergirl for pointing out the swim I think I can manage that but the reboarding part could be a problem.

Hello all. Hi Surfergirl! Glad you checked in.

The Catamaran sounds nice on the Golden Eagle. I sailed on one out of St Maarten's some years back. I'm not sure I will be doing that this trip. Maybe on the Mos@ic next October with Keith as I'm sure he would love it. I was looking into renting a car on St. Maarten and doing the "circle the island". I haven't been to Maho Beach before and would like to check it out this time. If anyone's interested in sharing the rental with us just let me know.

For St. Thomas I'd like to go to Trunk Bay. I've never been to St. John's. If there is a E Tour going this way we'd like to tag along. Otherwise we will follow the ferry-taxi route posted by many on the cruiseboards.

I haven't booked anything with Lawrence tours for Antigua yet. The only info is what I posted previously. I haven't spent alot of time yet researching this island on activites but will shortly. It's been a long time since we've been there.

Keep posting your ideas. As far as the Pinnacle the first night that sounds good. I think I've seen an order form somewhere that has that choice along with the wine packages. I think it's one that gets faxed in. I'll have to dig it up.

Have a great holiday weekend!

In the light of day I have decided I really may have to rethink the Catamarn ride.
at least I will have a clam shell to get out of the sun . Rest of cruise just enjoy the various ports and do what seems right for that day.

Sat down with DW last night to look at shore excursions. Don't know if we need a clamshell, but for $9.00 what the heck. Keep in mind the Oosterdam will be arriving at HMC about 3 hours before us, so it will be crowded there.

St. John's - After looking at the shore excursions, Lawrence of Antigua is sounding pretty good as long as we have the beach stop.

St. Thomas and St. Maarten - May just hop a cab and head to the beach. Might do a little shopping. DW works retail and has already said a number of times she does not want to shop (husbands eat your hearts out).

San Juan - Don't know yet

As far as Pinnacle first night - not sure. Looked at the menu. DW wasn't overly impressesed. Not a big meat eater. More into shrimp and other shellfish. Only item like that was the Ciopinno (sp?) and that didn't do much for her. But she said if I want to go it would be fine.

maw,
Access on/off the catamaran is by ladder. It was a great excursion, however, on CH@OS I remember how many folks were not thrilled about swimming to the beach from the catamaran-made it a challenge to swim with cameras, money, etc. Will never forget Rick/Jenny's Chinese friends that couldn't swim and didn't speak English. They almost got left behind as one of the ropes broke on our cat so we had to join another group for the return.
You would really enjoy a cat excursion, but my honest answer to you is we need to find one that unloads at a dock. Just trying to help.

Thanks Fleeda I had forgotten abt the getting on and off just was remembering all the great things I heard abt it from Cho@s (maybe I had been sipping Margritas too long.) With two eastern Caribean cruises coming up maybe we can find one with easier boarding. At least on Class we will have the schooner ride.

Plan A for tours:

HMC clamshell, waiting for the Hobie Catamarans to become available for purchase. Talking a walk by the turquoise cabana to meet Hey-kate. The beverage package sounds interesting.

Antigua-4x4/beach at 1:00 with ship.

St. Maarten 4x4/beach 8:00am with ship. You drive with this one, so dh will be happy. Would like to try that Guavaberry liquor. Ciggy shopping

St. Thomas, coki beach and/or Coral world, Paradise point. (Orcrone, notice no shopping here.... :lol)

San Juan, who knows.

Pinnacle is a possibility for the first night.

Other than that no clue what we are doing.

We could VERY easily help U to the beach and back onto the Cat maw as its only a short distance and E has NOT forgotten ALL of his Lifeguard training yet. :grin Hal Moon Cays actaul name is Little San Salvador Island so hopefully we will be seeing some NEWS on it soon. San Juan does NOT do much for moi as I have been there a few times but red did say she wanted to see the Cannon Balls so perhaps we will get off the ship if weather permits. The RUM is good I do know that much. :lol

Maw, the last cats I was on had these bloomin' great stairs cut into the rear end of it, so real easy to go up and down .

I would expect that on St. Thomas we will go over to Trunk bay, as it is by far the most beautiful island on St. John or St. Thomas..

But we shall see...

Oh yes, the "rum Runners" bar on the private island is shaded... and Judi and mal hung out there and say it is very nice.

Good Maw, and perhaps in the meantime we can find out more about the stairs on this craft.

Went on the Golden Eagle 2 years ago. Yes the stairs go down into the water. The first step is a bit high, but there is always help. The best way I can put it is two guys with their arms linked under your butt will get you on the way up the stairs LOL.

Pinnacle sounds good to us
Antigua seems to be a day at the Pineapple Beach resort, weather permitting
Saint Martin, up in the air, possibly the cat trip
Saint Thomas, Coki beach/ Coral World, some beach somewhere
Private Island, Clamshell and pointing up and laughing at E, along with some beverage consumption
Puerto Rico, would only get off if they paid me an awful lot

These of course aren't in stone yet. It's vacation, a lot of going with the flow.

hey Fleda.... you were right as well.. I got to remembering the different cat trips I have took, and that one on ch@os was down some kind of stairs with ropes to hang on to.. But the other one I went on was these stairs that were a part of the actual boat..

I remember on one cat trip, that some people never even got off the thing, they just stayed at the bar in the shade and drank :lol
so we do need to do some real research into this .

John, we are all going to be sat back laughing at Einstein floating through the air... while we drink a few toasts to him.. and do not forget about his partner in crime....... The White Haired Guy.. :lol

BTW Fleda.. are you still on for the pinnacle that first night?
