Hey everyone,

I hate to bring up a dead issue, but I was lurking
at the Nov. 30 Maasdam roll call board on CC. One
person claimed that two seperate friends had their
car vandalized there. It's a post by Grandma
Bonnie. There was also some other talk about
hotels, etc.

The link is:
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=25282&page=1&pp=25.

Sorry to add confusion or concern. Just wanted to
give you all the info I had.

Don't be sorry Marc. It's good to pass on information that may be helpful. Thanks for sharing!

Just something to note for those staying in the Courtyard rooms. This is a 2 story annex structure that does not have elevators. Something to think about if you are one that has difficulty with stairs & luggage. Might be good to add a 1st floor request to the reservation. Just an FYI. (thinking of you maw).

I hate reading about the parking at the Radisson. Wondering if I should consider changing hotels? I'd hate to come back and end my vacation with my vehicle being messed up. I guess a chance is taken anytime you leave it unattended for over a week.

Marc is correct - There is an elevator for the Tower rooms. I tried to find where I read this on the internet about the lack of elevators on the Courtyard side but I can't find it. However, I finally got around to canceling my Radisson reservation and called the Hotel Direct. They confirmed there is no elevator for the Courtyard rooms.

Although I really wanted to stay at the same hotel as everyone else, I am more comfortable with the switch. NorfolkSailor (Kevin) who's sailing on the Maasdam Nov. 30th works in a office building next to the Holiday Inn Select and highly recommended it. He said the parking is safe. It has all the same amenities except free breakfast (I noted the shuttle service & free parking in a previous post). There are pictures on expedia.com (I like the indoor pool :) )

If thinking of alternatives, www.tripadvisor.com is a good place to check out hotels. It provides rankings and reviews as well as comparison pricing. Also CC has a couple good threads - the one Marc mentioned and also Horizon 9/4 rollcall has great list. Do what you think is right for you (although it would be nice if others join us :))

I am still interested in Lawrence tours in Antigua.

Here's the info. I posted previously..

The tour last just over three hours,we visit historical sites like English Harbour,Nelson's Dockyard,Shirley's Height, infact the entire national park on the southern side of the island. We then drive through the rain forest, you will see the beautiful coastline after, then if you want to relax on the beach for a few hours, you can. There is a restaurant on the beach, umbrellas, chairs infact things to make your day what it should be.You can do some swiming or snorkelling on that beach. At the end of the day,we drive back to the cruise ship there is when each person will pay $25.US each for the service.

Website www.lawrenceofantigua.com

I know many have already made plans for this stop - for those who haven't and are interested, we could take a head count and then e-mail lawrence with our request. So far it's 4.

If there are specific sites interested in or activites, please note that and we can ask for a catered tour.

We'll be joining you at the Holiday Inn Maureen. After reading more comments and reviews and getting some info from a very reliable source the Radisson just didn't give me a real good feeling.

As far as Antigua goes, if it's a nice day we will be going to the Pineapple Beach resort for the day.
We are still open for the Golden Eagle Cat. in St Martin, anyone else?

I too am at the Hoilday Inn-select.

As for Antigua we are booked for the 4x4/beach. Lawrence would be my second choice if the 4x4 gets canceled.

Hey Marc,
The Antigua board, ports of call, on CC has many favorable reviews and links with alot of pics and info. If I wasn't so feeble I'd be able to post the link for you.

Suer,

You're not going to let me live that one down, are you? Now I just call it Antigua.

I wish I get DW on these boards. Because I have to go back and go over all this with her.

John - I wasn't sure which board you would read first so I'm posting the same info. here as far as hotel rate.

I called the Hotel this AM and asked about honoring my rate of $123.20.  Since they do not have it on their system as a standard rate, you would need to call the hotel directly and tell any of the agents that "Jason" honored this rate (he is the one who handled my reservation).  The front desk person told me it should be no problem for others to share in this rate.  (disclaimer - for those reading this not booking the same date as us this may not be honored - however ichotelsgroup.com has an internet rate of $127.20).

Hope this helps. Glad to hear you are staying here too Suer!

Maureen, when I called they said the same thing about your rate. They would not honor it. However, I did get one for 156.05 which includes 2-10.00 vouchers for breakfast.

Suer :( Was this before I called? The employee's name is Jason Alexander. They weren't going to accept the rate until I mentioned his name - then they sang a different tune and said yes.

Glad you're staying with us too Maw. Hope you are feeling better!

New Question-Formal-Semi Formal-Casual nights-yes the same old thing. Paw will be wearing a suit on formal nights. He has a good navy blazer what would be approriate for semi formal nights for him with this? What would be approiate for me for semi formal nights. We live in the country and seldom even have an occasion to dress up other than an occasional funeral or wedding so am now really not knowing what is appriate. Help! don't want to have eat in room.
