My wife and I just booked this cruise yesterday. We're in our early 40s and she's concerned that everyone else is going to be twice our age. The posts on this board show me that won't be the case, or if it is, it will still be a lively crown.

I just checked the change in itinerary. For the most part I like the later nights in most ports, with the exception of San Juan. From what I've read this cruise often returns late. I'm assuming that's what precipitated the change.

We live local, so we won't be staying anywhere overnight. For John who wants to tour the Wisconsin. The ship is still an active ship. As such, all interior compartments are sealed off. This means you only get to walk around the deck. It doesn't take very long to do that; maybe 1/2 hour to an hour, but it's still an interesting visit. There are active duty sailors stationed on it, and volunteers who will tell you all about the ship and answer your questions. One time we saw a bunch of people reenlisting on deck.

For people coming in from out of town staying in downtown Norfolk is the most convenient, you're close to Waterside and Nauticus (maritime museum). Sometimes the weather can still be nice here at the end of October. About 1/2 hour away is the Virginia Beach oceanfront. That time of year the room rates are very inexpensive. And most of the hotels look out on the ocean. However, if you don't have your own car, getting to the ship is not that convenient. Just another alternative.

224 days to go

Any suggestions on shore excursions? Any must sees or any to avoid. Any ports where we should just hop in a cab and go to the beach and avoid the shore excursions? I want to scuba dive, but their prices are pretty high ($69 to $99). Anyone have any suggestions on where the best diving is, or whether they can recommend a dive outfit that I can hook up with from the states? I haven't been to any of these locations, so I can use advice on each of them.

Thanks

I just noticed that our cruise leaves the day before we go off of daylight savings time. That means that we get an extra hour. =bigwave. What's everyone going to do with the extra hour?

BTW, =shh don't tell anyone. They may raise the rates.

Hey Orcrone,
Looking forward to meeting you. Not a scuba diver here so can't help out with that. St Thomas, St Johns and St Martaan all have great beaches. We'll probably go on a catamaran trip on one of the stops. Never been to Antigua and am looking forward to exploring their beaches.
As for DST, that means an extra hour before closing time LOL
