Gosh I hate to miss out on all the fun at dinner. Wonder if I could show up for two dinners a night early with Paw and later laughs with the group.

Got an exciting surprise this morning. My mom called and said that for her 75th birthday next spring she wants to take the entire family on a cruise. YEAAA.

So any suggestions of cruiselines. She lives in southern Florida, so we want to go out from FLL or Miami. Her and her husband are 75 and 78. DW and I are in our mid 40s and our girls will be 15 and 17. My mom would rather avoid Carnival, as she feels (correctly so) that there will be too many kids that time of year (week of March 28), although I think any cruise will have lots of kids. We want to take a week long cruise, and we're looking at Sat & Sun departures of March 26 and 27, although Saturday probably works better.

Orcrone-that is great ! Is Mom adopting anyone ?????

Isn't that Easter Sunday? The beginning of Spring Break season..... Regardless, what a great way to celebrate a special birthday.

Sue,

That's exactly when it is. Her birthday is the 28th and the kids have off from school that week.

We sailed on Easter Sunday when the girls were teenagers on Carnival. They had a welcome aboard buffet that had all sorts of food decorated for Easter. They had Easter eggs too. One of the ship's crew dressed like the Easter Bunny and went around with the ships photographer (like the pirate theme). It was pretty cute.

Enjoy all your planning. I think you got a boat load of suggestions on the other board. Regardless of where you go and what line.. the best part is being together and Mom's flipping the bill!!

time to pack.. :grin

Marc, I think that at that time of the year you will get a fair number of kids on almost any cruiseline.

other than a top of the line cruise.. I would think that HAL would have the least amount. And if you could do a 10 dayer.... they usually have less children too.
cheers,

Thanks Red Stripe,

The kids are off from school for a week, so I think we'll keep it to seven days. The 10 day cruises seem to not coincide with their vacation schedule. Right now we're leaning towards the Zuiderdam eastern Caribbean itinerary.

Maw - bad news. It's still 102 days until Hallo-weenie eve. Did you remember to figure 31 days for July and August.

It won't be long before we are DDM's! Can anyone smell the salty air yet? If you live near a seaport no fair.

Did ya all read the community board? Jacque is going with us on the HAL-O-WEENIE cruise! Kelly and I will be taking him on the roadtrip & cruise and will ensure he has a great time. If anyone's interested in contributing something to his attire feel free to bring it with you. I've done something similar to this before. What would be fun is if everyone could bring a postcard with them from their hometown to include in the travel box. This of course is optional. Chime in if you have other ideas.

Is anyone considering door decorations? For you expert HAL cruisers, would this be tacky on a HAL ship?

Maw,

That's not fair. I'm working through Friday afternoon, so for me it doesn't get here until Saturday. Maybe I'll have to take a few days off to get in the right frame of mind.LOL
