Good evening!

Kathie, glad to hear the choir bake sale was a success! I'm sure all the people who bought baked goods are enjoying the fruits of your labor! And thanks for the offer, but I agree, I'd rather not see you arrested for sending illegal drugs thru the mail.
We had 15 people in our choir yesterday, so other than our missing alto it was a full choir for a change

Dave, hope the Dr. visit went well! And only you would think of doing a product testing on how toilet paper tears. I generally use Angel Soft, I bought Charmin a while ago just to see if it was really worth the extra $$ and for me it just wasn't.

Lee, it's good to have your priorities in order, all work & no play makes for a dull life.
That's quite a tax bill you owe!

Bill, well, one good thing about your cooler temps is you get a chance to give the new fireplace a good work out!

Mike, I'm hoping the nephew works out too, there are probably a dozen or more handymen in the area who advertise, but getting one to show up or who doesn't want a small fortune for a simple job are impossible to find.

Didn't have much luck getting the work bench detached from the wall, there were 6 screws that I could see & I managed to get 3 of them out. I've most likely stripped the heads of the other 3. And the area they are located makes them hard to reach & harder to see. I may check with one of the guys in the neighborhood to see if he give it a try, if not I will repaint the thing & just keep it where it is.

Going to Jane's tomorrow to mow the back yard & Bobby(the nephew) is supposed to come by & see about changing out the water valves for her washing machine. The cold water valve was leaking so we had to turn it off & she's been filling the washer with a hose.
I need to load up my tools for tomorrow so I don't forget things,, catch you all later

Karen: I loved hearing your choir sing. Nice job. Not sure if the recording speaker was TOO CLOSE to the Organ (playing nicely), but I thought the Organ was too LOUD while you folks sang.
Rev Lisa was so down to earth and a joy to listen too. Loved how she drew in the people in by saying hello by name and asking what they were going to do after church. Nice video and Rev Lisa gave a beautiful sermon. I can see why you like her and the church. :clap002:

I'm off to bed. Late getting there.... AGAIN.

A marvelous day here yesterday. Sunny, nice and warm, and my PSA numbers, (prostate), came back from the blood test WAY below a point that I should worry about prostate cancer. They should be below 4, and mine were 1.52.

Sure I still have an enlarged prostate, but almost all older guys do. It's normal.

Since yesterday's early morning doctor's appointment was so much fun, both Kathi and I have an 8:30 physical appointment today with the family doctor. We've got to do that every year to keep either Medicare or our insurance company happy.

And what souvenirs did you bring back from your Florida vacation this year, Lee? "A whole bunch of toilet paper that works as they say."

Cool looking hose reel, K2. It's both metal and up off the ground.

I'm like you Mike; I've never seen a hose reel like it.

KC; It's amazing how effective a sledge-hammer can be in removing a work bench. :)

Good Morning Love GIF by joeyahlbum
GOOD MORNING WRABBITS! It's going to to a NICE day here from what the weather FOLKS are saying. 60F right now and the SUN is out.
It rained through the night and the streets and sidewalks are drying up, so it will be another HUMID DAY. My
ankles HATE HUMIDTY! Ha ha.

DAVE:
Fantastic numbers on your blood test results. Good for you. Hope the Physicals today go just as well. The doctor will love your PSA numbers for sure! I see you got a early appointment. Good going.

Karen: Does your church have fewer parishioners in the summer months? I know you said a lot of SNOWBIRDS go missing, but I was wondering if locals just take a break also and are on their boats, pools etc? I know once the Sunday school breaks from Mid-June to late August (just like the school year schedule) there are LESS Sunday attendees at our church. I'm one of them. :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

Lee: I bet you had a nice walk this morning in the park. It's so nice that I know just what it's like when you mention who were there. I'm glad I took the time to drive to your lovely town. I just wish I had a phone that was updated with your information on it. I'll give it a try again soon and drag ARTIE along too. And I'd schedule it all with you before hand. No surprise visits. :emoticon 0115 inlove:

Bill: Not sure if you are into PBS "British" type series, but if you go to PBS's website you can stream entire series. One that we totally loved, that was a TRUE STORY and still ongoing, was MR BATES and the POST OFFICE. It was great. The series last show was this past Sunday, but we got to go online and see a 45 min show of how the REAL LIFE PEOPLE were actually doing these days. Some lost everything in the Post Office Scandel that lasted decades. It was tragic. By the way the landscapes of where the series was filmed are beautiful.
We have a really large Monitor in the computer area that is hooked up to the laptop. I got the program on for Art yesterday and he got to see the 45 min show with the nice large screen and the sound was able to be up too. (much better than our TV's sound) We always have to have the CLOSED CAPTIONS "ON" when watching anything so that Art can read along. His hearing isn't the best even with hearing aids when it comes to TV watching. I feel bad for him. Thank goodness most things on TV have the closed captions. There are some movies that don't offer it and it makes it hard to follow.

MIKE: We bought a replacement Lavender plant last Saturday (my Mother's Day gift is what I told Art to call it) and Art planted it yesterday in front next to our Clematis plant. They're hardy and can take any still to come cold-spells we most likely will still get. Nothing is safe to plant above ground until June 1st. I'm going to go and buy "Potato starters" today at the nursery and those can get planted. Always fun to dig up the Spuds in the Fall. We get about 2 handfuls since we have a very small garden and need space for green onions, cukes and radishes. Not sure we'll do Cukes this year. They need more sun than our garden area has.
Tomato plants, the 100's kind, get planted up by the deck and I tie them to the rail as they grown up to the edge of the awning! It's crazy but makes for easy picking right from the side of the deck rail. Ha ha.

Karen: Do you have a tomato plant on your patio area or on the side of the house at all. Not sure if you like tomatoes or not??????

Out of here. I'm off to the Flower Nursery to get those SPUD STARTERS!

YOU ALL HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY. :clap002:

Good morning this last day of April. Woke up to us having had rain, over and inch and more is to come later.

No real plans for today. May go to the veggie stand and get a few things. Bruce is working on growing cherry tomatoes and of course his peppers, that he makes hot sauce from.

All have a great day.

I usually have the closed captioning on when watching TV and find it works best on TV programs that are pre-recorded rather than live. Newscasts and live sports programs frequently come up with some mysterious versions of the words actually spoken. I recall one such instance where a football player commented about problems with his knees and the cc said he was having a problem with his "n
iece".
I understand your reluctance to share your warm temperatures with
those of us on the East coast, Mike but wish you weren't as generous when it comes to the chillier temps. ;-)
The new fireplace doesn't seem to give off that much heat but just looking at the flames does seem to dispel much of the chill in the living room.
I note that CBS executives have not renewed NCIS Hawaii for another season. These are apparently the same folks who have approved a second season for Elsbeth. Strange reasoning in my estimation.

Passing through between Subie service, Ava’s Navy Yard walk, back grass cutting and yet to be done haircut to say “Hi”. The grass was so thick and damp that I only got about 2/3 of the yard done before I was out of juice. The batteries are in the charger and should be ready when I get home.
Geez, better run. Hair is in 25 minutes!
Stay safe and well everyone.

MIKE: I remember you showing us how you made the Hollyhock Dolls. They are just SO CUTE. Thanks for taking all the time and effort to post pictures of them on here. :clap002: :clap002: :emoticon 0115 inlove:
Back when I was about 8 yrs old I remember HOLLYHOCK vines/plants growing by the side of our garage. Funny how I can RIGHT NOW picture these things as clear as day, but I barely remember what I had for dinner 2 days ago! Ha Ha. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Mike: I went to the flower nursery early this morning and bought 5 different kinds of POTATO SEED starters. Should be interesting. Last year I waiting too long and got the leftover pickings.
I also bought 3 Tomato plants. I'll make sure to write them down and let you know which kind they are. One was the 100's Cherry Tomatoes. The other 2 were new to me. The lady told me don't even think of planting anything yet in our area. I have them on the front porch which is covered to keep them from any frost. If the weather folks even mention the chance of FROST I will throw an old sheet over them to make sure they live.

LEE: Are you trying to come in 2nd Place for doing the most things in one day. I think our KAREN still has you beat most of the time! :emoticon 0136 giggle::emoticon 0111 blush: Nice job on the haircut by the way!

Bill: Art's biggest complaint when it comes to Closed Captions is some programs have such LONG DELAYS in posting the words. So frustrating even for me when I glance at them.
Should be interesting to see if your Electric Bill goes up much with that new fireplace. Our biggest bill around here is the WATER BILL. We hardly watered the grass at all last year because it rained on a steady basis and still the BILL WAS HIGH. I won't even get into it.

PT tomorrow morning. I think I have one more. It's been a good thing, but I'm glad it's all but over!
Night all.

Good morning Bunnies.
Darned cute hollyhock dolls Mike! I would love to know who comes up with all of these really neat ideas.
I know way better than to challenge our Karen to a chore list competition Kathie. Some times are just like that. No matter what you do, there's more to do. The general rule of thumb for planting around here is nothing before the May 24 weekend.
Good news on the physicals Dave. Before my radiation in 2021 my PSA was 20.2. In the most recent test, January 2024, it was .39. The urologist and I were both doing happy dances. OF course, all of that jiggling made me have to pee. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:
Hi to everyone else and have a great day.

Another 3 weeks in the wrist brace for the patient. I think Lu-Ann slipped the bone doc a couple of bucks so he’d tell her three more weeks of taking it extra easy as opposed to two. ;) We got into our 1:20 appointment at 2:20. That led me to wonder had we been an hour late how much would we have been billed for missing our scheduled time…
On the way up to the hospital we passed a couple of garden centres. One had just received their spring hanging baskets. The truck was offloading racks of flowers at the other one, George’s.
A beautiful afternoon here. I hope it is where you are too.

Good afternoon, it's HOT! HOT! HOT! here today, feels more like the 1st of July than the 1st of May.

Kathie, glad you enjoyed the video. I've had other people tell me before they can't hear the choir over the organ. Not sure if it's a speaker issue or just the organist/choir director is such an enthusiastic player.
I don't have any tomato plants at the moment, first I need to figure out how to keep them from getting the blossom rot

Dave, great news on the prostrate numbers & your physicals! Keep up the good work!

Mike, those dolls are adorable! I don't think Hollyhocks will grow here in Florida, it might be to hot for them.

Lee, I "might" have a longer to do list than you, doubtful, but maybe, but yours is definitely more SKILLED work than what I am doing. I want to be an OGC when I grow up!

Got Jane's back yard mowed yesterday & then hung around for a while as Bobby(nephew) was working on changing out the shut off valves for her washer. He gave her a quote of $100-150 including material, thinking the material would be about $50, he went to Lowes & came back with the receipt, material was $100...he told Jane he couldn't believe it cost that much & if that was to much he would take the material back & she wouldn't owe him anything. She said No, go ahead & do it. He worked on it for several hours & got them all changed out, patched the wall & just did a nice job in general. Jane gave him $130 and we thought he was going to cry, he was only expecting her to pay him $50 since that was his max quote. He said he still feels guilty even charging us anything at all since we are family, but we said we'd have to pay someone else a lot more & would rather it go to family.
I had called a handyman last week one of the neighbors here recommended, he was on vacation, but called me back today. I asked him how much he'd charge to change out a faucet on my bathroom sink, he said he'd need to look at it first but probably $150-$200. I just told him thanks, but my budget wasn't that big. It's a simple swap out, if I'm going to pay $150 it will be to Bobby.
Time to break down & turn on the A/C, have a great day all!

A wise business professor once told me this Karen…”in business, friends are friends, family are family but business always business”. You were right to compensate Bobby. Especially when he’s trying to turn things around. Good on you and Jane.

Great posts everyone.
Dave/Kathi glad all the tests and physicals turned out GOOD!
Karen nice to know the nephew did a good job.
Lee.....I love your quote from the WISE Business Professor:

Good Thursday morning, Bunnies! It is Thursday, isn't it?

WOW Lee, your head must have spun around when they told you that your prostate, PSA number, was 20. Seeing as it's suppose to be below 4. I can see why you did the happy-dance when you found out it's now below 1.

I too dread, and hate, waiting and waiting in a doctor's office.

KC; A hint to keep your nephew/contractor happy.......Always pay in cash. With our nephew/contractor it's always cash, no contracts, or any other paperwork.

You said his name is Bobby. Since he's now a grownup I'm surprised he hasn't switched over to wanting to be called Bob. Not many guys called Joe still want to be called Joey when they grow up. Don't even call me Davey.

K2; I was beginning to wonder if you were going to make it on here yesterday.

Looks like we're going grocery shopping this morning. Kathi now grabs the cart and I hop on one of their electric carts.

Good morning.
A busy couple of days ahead. There is a Michael J Fox Parkinson’s event/seminar/discussion in Detroit this Saturday. Friends from Kitchener are coming tomorrow and staying a couple of nights. Lu-Ann and Nora, who also has pd, met at The Y and keep in touch. Then we’ll all pop across the bridge for the event. It also gives us a chance to see Kathie’s friend from church, Donna. Kathie was kind enough to introduce Donna and Lu-Ann.
Anyway, preparations are gonna keep me a tad busy because I don’t want Lu-Ann to overdo things with her wrist. So if I’m missing, you all know why.
Hope you did indeed sleep well Kathie.
Enjoy your trip to the grocery store Dave. I was so tempted to type Davey and blame it on autocorrect. No stunt driving in that cart my friend!
Time to get this day underway. I hope you all have a good one.

If you don't like Davey, how about Father Davey? :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:
His Dad was Bob & since he was named after him he was just always called Bobby growing up, and yep, until he tells us otherwise Cash will be the offered form of payment.
Have some errands to run this morning so if I want to get done & home before it gets blazing hot I'd best get a move on

Good morning. Yesterday I went for a checkup of my hand and he was pleased, I set up an appt with the Dr so we can set up a date for him to do surgery on the right hand.

Tuesday night my Mother's Day gift arrived so Bruce gave it to me yesterday morning. A Fire 10, so I spent most of the day setting it up. right now am downloading books to it and will continue today to download more, have a bunch to add to it. I have set up Hulu +, Disney+ and Netflix to it, don't know how often I will use them but they are there.

Last night I made mushroom soup and spinach salad for dinner, they were both very good. Though I did put too much Blue Cheese in the dressing for the salad.
