How did Art make out at his appointment Kathie?
Ya’ll have so many questions about rehab and the such. In no particular order, I am trying to avoid the walker as much as I can. So I guess that’s a no. I’m not using it. I have a zoom class this week dealing with stress and coping after heart surgery. Tomorrow I have blood work to be done and once it gets back to the rehab folks I have to go in for a physical before I can start work with the exercise group. But, enough about me.
Pat, I too think of Tony often. Especially with all of the food talk that sometimes crops up in the hutch. I can only imagine what he would have thought about Kaitlin Jenner taking a run at the Governor’s seat in CA. I have to agree. If it’s not Crab then just give it to the next guy please.
We did have a little frost here Kathie. When I was up with Bear it was 35F but felt like 32! As you said, that’s just wrong for May 10.
Good thing that Kathi remembered your appointment Dave! We never did try poke when we were in Hawaii. The poi was bad enough. I have to admit that I did enjoy a Spam McGriddle with pineapple spears one morning though.
Karen? Where you at young lady? Hope all is well.
How’s the packing going Bill. This is your chance to get rid of some “stuff” before Rita gets home.
I think we’re taking Ava to the park in a few minutes. Another short walk for me.
You all behave. I know, that’s no fun, but just do it!

Lee - Thanks for explaining a bit more about the things you have to deal with after your surgery. You're very fortunate to have so many resources available for you and at a price we can can only envy here.
We tried poi too in Hawaii and have to admit it tastes terrible. Now I wil admit that every once in a while I will get a can of Spam. I slice it 1/4" thick and quick fry it in butter. Then we make a sandwich on a Kaiser roll with mayo, lettuce & tomato. It's sloppy to eat but a nice sandwich about once a year.

I was just reading that there is a shortage of snow crab this year due to the pandemic. So many of fisheries were closed and the crabbing boats weren't going out. That explains why the price has gone sky high $10.+ here right now. It wasn't all that long ago that the price was half that. A lot of restaurants where snow crab is very popular on the east coast have taken snow crab off the menu. Personally, I am still a big fan of blue crab and really do prefer it to the others, but Bert feels like it's too much work to get the meat out. That's half the fun!!

Bert is off to Restaurant Depot with Missy while I man the fort here. The kids are so loud!!! Plus I am so sick of listening to Sponge Bob after 2 days. I think it's time for a glass of wine. After all, it's already 5 o'clock in the previous time zone and it will be 5 o'clock here in 35 minutes. Time to warm up!!! :smiley15: :smiley21:

KAREN.........you okay girl? How are the kitties? What's up?

Lee: We enjoy listening to all the things you'll be doing in your rehab classes. I think it will help keep your "mind" busy and you'll stop worrying about things that are out of your hands for now. Appreciate the fact you have that program and it's FREE. You'll be back to your old self sooner than you think. Be glad we're going into warmer weather. Imagine having to go through all this in the DEAD OF WINTER. YUK.
FROST WARNING here on our side of the River tonight. I covered 3 of the plants that have some buds on them. I brought the 8 pack of Geraniums into the garage for the night. That's one reason I don't usually buy ANY flowers this early in May. These Red Geraniums were a excellent price at Costco and I couldn't pass them up. I knew I was going to be doing the IN and OUT thing with them.

Art's
aneurism in his eye isn't getting any worst or better. The doctor said they will be slowly stopping the injections. She is giving his Ophthalmologist surgeon a written order that it's okay to go ahead with getting Art his glasses so he can see for reading. It is what it is. He's just glad that he'll be done with the injections and dilating of the eyes real soon.

DAVE: Hope your Ultrasound went well today. I get my results of my Echocardiogram next Monday. Amazingly I've felt just FINE every since I went to see the heart doctor a few weeks ago. Must have scared something out of me. Ha Ha

Pat: I few that you and Bert will be having the 2-grandkids over more and more once they move into the neighborhood. Good luck with that.
They're too young to be left at home until parents come home from work and not sure if they will stay for Latch-Key after school. Time will tell. My advice to you is BUY LOTS of WINE when it's on SALE and start stocking it up in the CLOSET. LOL

RITA/BILL: So did Rita get home from rehab this weekend like she wanted to? How is she doing on the stairs? You guys can't get out of that condo fast enough. Hope you have movers coming to help with the packing, etc, etc. Fill us in when you get a chance. Hope Rita feels better.

I'm off to see if there's anything on TV. I was so COLD all day I can't wait to get under the comforter tonight!

Have a good Tuesday all.

Lu-Ann brought in her plants too Kathie. Crazy frost warnings! I don’t blame Art for being glad to “see” the end of the injections.
”Who lives in a pineapple…” Make it a drinking game Pat. Every time you hear “his” name you get a drink of wine.
I’ll check in tomorrow when we get home from the lab work.
You all have a good night.

Come on you slackers, let's get that shopping done. I saw on the news that it's only 228 days till Christmas. And you know how picked over things are in July.

K2; Those glasses you mentioned to see colors don't work for all color-blind people. For some it's a major change, for some it's only a minor change, and for some there is no change from black & white. At one time I looked at them, and if I remember right they were $200-$300. But the top maker of them will give you a full refund if they don't work for you. Why Kathi's son never tried them, I don't know. He is definitely not short of a great income.

The 12 year old in me laughed BB when you mentioned "peach dump cake". I too usually have at least one can of Spam in the cupboard.

I have to admit Lee that I've never heard that Harry Chapin song you posted. Don't poo-poo the use of walkers too much. They are great in maintaining balance. I've got one in the basement that I last used after a back surgery. More and more I rely on carrying my cane when we go somewhere and I know there will be nothing to lean on. Took it with me just yesterday when I went to the hospital for my test.

Hi KC & Bill!

Sunday it rained all day, and yesterday it was nothing but sunshine. So pretty. And in baby steps, the temperature should rise each day this week until it reaches the weekend into the 70's.

Today's goal is to put a concrete sealer on all the heart shaped pavers the grandkids have made with their names and handprints over the years, before we put them back outside. We're doing that on a painting tarp in the garage. I'm afraid that if we do it outside we might come back to pollen stuck all over them before they dry.

Good morning, gang! Another beautiful day here. Got a bit of running around to do this morning and then dinner tonight at Manny's Chophouse with G&E and the boys to celebrate a few birthdays and finally, our anniversary dinner! It's been well over a year since we've been there, so we are all looking forward to tonight. Other than that, not much going on here at all.

Dave - I too have a walker from the time I had pneumonia and I needed it to walk for a few weeks. Just remember never get rid of it. Medicare will only replace that kind of stuff once every 5 years.

Kathie - That is just wrong to have a frost warning this late in May. Around here some stuff is already finished for the season. Bert's tomatoes are almost done. Now he's only getting an occasional San Marzano plum tomato and we haven't had a good beefsteak tomato in over a week. Once the rains move in, tomatoes will rot and have to be pulled out. It's too late for radishes and carrots. Only good part is that come August or September, he can plant stuff for our second growing season. Ya gotta love Florida for things like that.

Lee - If I played a drinking game out of Sponge Bob, I would be under the table after barely an episode! I do have to admit, some of the stuff they say is really funny to adults and goes right over the kids' heads.

Missy & the kids stayed for dinner last night after the trip to Restaurant Depot, as Jimmy was working out of town and had to stay over last night to finish the job today. We finished off the peppers & sausages, which was a good thing. Now we get to start fresh with no leftovers, unless we bring something home tonight, that is.

Karen - You're starting to worry us. Get your butt back here and tell us what's going on in your world this week. Hopefully, it won't include any projects at anyone else's house.

Time to run once again and get the running around out of the way, so I can enjoy the lanai before we have to go out around 5. Have a super fantastic day, everyone, and don't forget to wear those masks and to wash those hands!! :)

Miss you KAREN! Hope you're just busy and all is good. Hope the Kitties are alright too.

Another CHILLY day. Right now it's 56F here. Suppose to get better as Dave pointed out.

DAVE:
So are you saying that YOU ARE COLOR Blind?? How come we didn't know that? It's no wonder you don't change out your cars very often. Too hard to see what color you want! Nice project sealing up those kids pavers!

Even as cold as it is here lately the POLLEN is starting to make me sneeze more and more. I have a Kleenex handy all the time.

Pat I sent you a 'INVITE' on Facebook to the
Charcuterie Board site. They have some fantastic pictures and lots of ideas. Let me know if you looked at it.

Lee: I bought a "Walker" years ago at a Estate Sale and Art laughed at me when I brought it home. Well, he used it when he had his back surgery. I've given it to friends to use too. If a older person's home is in a ESTATE SALE you can bet money that there will be WALKERS, CANES and SHOWER SEATS in the sale! (ours will have the same stuff too.) We have a toilet seat riser, walker, cane (Art's Dad's) and a shower bench.)

I like the new Walkers that they make these days. They are HIGHER so you DO NOT LEAN OVER. Much better idea. You be careful walking around buddy.

Out of here. Have a nice day all.

Good afternoon!
Blood work is done. My appointment was for 10:25 and they were spot on with the time. We drove out to Kingsville to the lab. It’s a nicer drive. After that we headed another 15 minutes to Leamington. There’s a dandy little bakery there and we grabbed a turkey and roasted red pepper sandwich for lunch. And right there across the road was a Starbucks. Who knew. ;)
Folks, I’m not discounting the use of a walker in any way, shape or form. It’s just a case of trying to build my stamina without the walker. If we go on a longer walk for sure I’ll take it.
That‘s a good project for today Dave. The grandkids were only that age once and if their tile gets a crack or anything it can never be replaced.
The original Manny’s or the one on 192 Pat? How many milestones from the past year are being celebrated this evening? I have seen a couple of Sponge Bob’s because other friends have said there’s a lot of adult humour written in to the show.
Cool here as well Kathie. It’s only 52F but feels cooler. As if this lockdown hasn’t been bad enough our province is considering extending it until June. Even reasonable people are at wits end. We have heard rumblings that the border could stay closed until late summer or early fall! I fear that our trip to Greyhounds in Gettysburg in September may not happen! As long as things open up for January…
OK Karen. Not funny! You know that we worry if we don’t hear from you.
Remember Bill. If you toss stuff that Rita asks about it is easier to seek forgiveness than permission.
Coffee? Why yes. I could enjoy one.
You all be good. To yourselves, to each other and to others too.

Lee - We're going to the Manny's on 192 this time for a couple of reasons. If we have to park too far from the entrance, then Bert will have to break out the wheelchair for me. The Manny's on 27 is too crowded to try to get to the door with a wheelchair , much less find room to get to a table in the back. The one on 192 is on flat ground and the tables are spaced out much better, even in normal times. This is also a quieter time of the year to go to that one. Come summer vacations and with Disney so close, that one will be as crazy as the one in Haines City.
We will be celebrating 3 things tonight - our 55th anniversary, Elaine's birthday and my birthday. Now that we all have our full vaccinations under out belt, we figure it's about time to party. I decided that this will just be Day 1 of my birthday week celebration ending with dinner at Tarantino's on the night after my actual birthday. They're closed Monday & Tuesday. In between there will be the Grille and Chinese food. Sounds like a plan to me!!! :emoticon 0137 clapping::dance:

Kathie - I checked out that charcuterie board. Some of those plates are unreal. They make mine look like something from an little kid. Thanks for sending the invite to me. I'll check it out even more when I have a slow day around here.

How can you and Bert be celebrating 55 years when you are only 39 years young? ;)
We have a place in Windsor called The Cookie Bar. Gourmet 1/4 pound cookies at $5 a pop. They do a really neat spin on charcuterie boards with cookies and fresh fruit.

Pat: I‘m full just reading all those places you have lined up to eat at. Wow. Have a blast. And HAPPY 55th Anniversary celebrations. We’ll join you in Sept when we do the double FIVES (55).

Today is Jill & Marks 25th Anniversary. It was a tad warmer that day, but it still had puffy white clouds and SUNNY! They’ve made a good life together these past 25 years. Can’t be prouder!

Lee: Glad you finally squeezed in a stop at Starbucks.
I get the feeling once the borders open people will have to camp out in their cars in a LONG LINE to get through the various border crossings. Good thing we have 3 not too far from us. It’s going to be a zoo. Maybe they will assign certain days for your last name. Starting with “A” in the alphabet and so-forth! Now that might really be a crazy idea when you think about it.

It’s like living in a 3rd world country.

Wrapped up Ashley’s B-Day presents. She’ll be 22yr old on Thursday! Yikes!

Another FROST WARNING FOR TONIGHT. That means 32F degrees. Crazy.

Later gang.

Happy Hump-Day Bunnies!

Not much to gab about this morning. Not much going on in this neck of the woods. It should be all sunny today and getting quite tropical, if you consider 60 degrees to be in the realm of tropical.

Today about the only things planned are getting those pavers out of the garage and putting them along the walkway to the front porch, picking up some prescriptions, going to UPS to fax something. Along with doing another poop-patrol before the lawn guy gets here.

Although it'll still be cool, this will be the 1st week, in quite a while, that's been rain free for the lawn guy. A few days of rain sure screws up his normal mowing schedule.

No K2, I'm not color blind. One of Kathi's sons is. At one time I thought about getting him a pair of those glasses that might let him see colors. But he lacked enthusiasm for them, so I canceled that thought.

With all the birthdays and anniversaries you guys are having, I suggest you all stay off the scales. All that food and cake ain't calorie free.

I made a bold & spicy pulled-pork sandwich for breakfast. And when Kathi saw me putting horseradish on it said, "Isn't it hot enough already???" NO

It was 42F when I walked out of the bedroom. Suppose to get better through the day and soon it will be 70F for a few days. Meanwhile.......Brrr.

Going to try and attack the junk drawer in the kitchen today. I'm in the mood for THROWING OUT and PITCHING! Hey, somebodies got to keep some order in this place. LOL

Dave: I saw this posted on Fbook about making Pork Chops in the Air Fryer. Pass it along to Kathi.

I'm off to get my coffee now that I smell it. Always good to hang back and get away with NOT having to make the coffee in the morning!
Enjoy your day folks.

Good morning! Getting a late start this morning. I actually slept the entire night until 7:30 this morning. Used the bathroom and decided to lie down for a few minutes while I wake up completely. Next thing I knew, it was going on 10 o'clock! I guess I really needed that to recharge my internal battery.

Dave - That's an interesting mix you had for breakfast this morning. I hope that was a fresh jar of horseradish. That's always the spiciest. Once the jar is open for a while, it kind of loses that pop of spice and gets too mellow. That's why on a cruise I'll get prime rib with a good dollop of fresh horseradish. That will clean out your sinuses and anything else that's clogged up!! LOL

Kathie - Have fun pitching stuff out of a kitchen draw. Our kitchen draws are in pretty good shape. We still have work to do on the cabinets under the drawers. I've asked Bert a number of times to put in those pull out shelves, so I can find things in there. So far, that's not happening. There's still 5 of those cabinets we have to go through and figure out what gets saved and what gets tossed.

Lee - Your comment about how old we are is greatly appreciated and would get you a seat next to us anywhere. Those cookies sound delicious and a great thing to put on a charcuterie board. We've got a new cookie place that just opened not far from us. Only problem is that their cookies are $10 each. That may not last but the tourists might give them a try and keep them in business.

Our dinner last night was so good. Manny's was not crowded at all, being it was a Tuesday night. Tonight would be much more crowded as it's their famous BOGO fajita night. We really didn't have to rush as there were plenty of seats available. Ended up being there for over 2 hours. So night 1 of my birthday week celebration is a wrap and now we have to decide what will be next. Probably the Grille as they have a smoked brisket as the dinner special this week. Tonight is going to be some lowly spaghetti leftovers from the other night.

Better get a move on and get lunch started. Bert picked an absolutely perfect beefsteak tomato the other day which is just calling out to be placed on a BLT. Too bad Bert pulled the kind of bacon I dislike out of the freezer. It just doesn't cook up as well as Oscar Meyer does. I pride myself on how crispy I can get the bacon and this other type usually goes from limp to burned in a heartbeat. Oh well, I'll give it another try and hope for the best. After lunch we have to make a run to Publix to pick up a few things and then it will be a quiet rest of the day.

Have a good one, everyone, and happy hump day to all you fine folks! :)

Good afternoon.
Tired today. Dave and Doug were here at 9:00 with a yard of topsoil for Lu-Ann’s gardens. Nothing will make you feel as useless as watching friends spread dirt for you.

I have a remote meeting this evening with the rehab folks. It’s about stress and coping. Timing is everything as I’m not having a good day.
The nurse called while we were walking the pups and wants to discuss my blood work. Oh joy.
Tomorrow is a new day and it’s up to me to greet it with a renewed outlook.
You all be good Bunnies. Stay safe, OK?

Lee, sorry to hear you've hit a bit of a rough patch....with your support team I know it will get better....just hang in there!!

Karen good to know you're still part of the LIVING! Thanks for stopping by. You know how this HUTCH worries about Wrabbits that are MIA!! Take care of yourself. And you might want to go get a SWAB TEST to see if you might have the Covid. Always good to know if you ever had it or didn't. I believe the test is FREE. Get better.

Okay, I managed to get 2 large drawers cleaned up. The one drawer that has ribbons, tissue paper, glue stick refills, a old (but still working) camera, charging cords, etc. Is now organized. At least I know what's in it right now! LOL The desk drawer wasn't bad, but I did manage to throw out a lot of OLD Carry-Out menus for Pizza places and a few restaurants. I noticed that all the prices on the Chinese carry-out menu went up $1.00 since last year. They do a bang up job on good food and deserve to raise their prices.

I have a 8" x 4" box full of Business cards to go through. I have dividers between sections to make it easier to find cards when I need a phone number off of them. But I know there are duplicates that can get thrown away.

After that I only have 2 small drawers in the desk area to clean out. One has sewing stuff in it like thread and scissors that needs to get sorted out. And the next one down from it has scotch tape and packaging tape and stamps for mail and sheets of return address tabs and various greeting cards. That one will take a little longer. I know there are old pictures and slides in the back of that drawer that need to find a home.....like the trash can.

The last drawer in that desk area (3rd one down) is where I put the PAID bills. It gets emptied and
shredded every 6 months or so. If we ever re-do the kitchen some of those drawers will not be there. All they do is collect JUNK and PAPERs!..
Still waiting for a drawing and quote from the Kitchen contractor. He did call and said they were swamped with work and appreciated my being patient. I told him if he wants the job he has to be able to get it done before October. I don't want this dragging into the WINTER.

Lee: I know it has to be killing you to see others do work that you normally do, but you MUST get over that and work on getting your body strength back. Hope the bloodwork will be good news. I can't tell you how much CRAP I've had to go through since my cancer surgery. I just WILL NOT LET IT DRAG ME DOWN. I'm glad I'm still around and didn't have to have chemo like a lot of other people I know. So try and hang in there and get over not being able to do things. You'll have plenty of time to make up for it. First you have to heal. Heck, think about how long it takes for a PAPER-CUT to heal. And then multiply that times a thousand times. Are you getting my drift! Chill buddy. It hasn't been that long!

Out of here for now. Saw our Oriole again earlier. Eating away at the grape jelly in the feeder.

DAVE HAS KATHI PUT OUT THE ORIOLE FEEDER YET. GET IT OUT THERE. YOU'RE MISSING OUT ON GETTING SOME ORIOLES TRAVELING BACK FROM THE SOUTH TO STOP AND LIVE AT YOUR PLACE!!

PAT: I have some of these wire pull out's in the cabinets in the laundry room where all the canned goods and dry groceries are. They are great. My kitchen cabinets were built with pull-out wood drawers. I would go stir-crazy nuts if I had to bend down and DIG for pots and pans and lids, etc, etc.
I will add that these are expensive, but they are a breeze to screw into the bottoms of cabinets and are so SMOOTH to pull out.
I think I know Bert well enough after all these years that he won't be popping for them. He'd rather get down on his knees and dig for the pots & pans for you. Tell him he can't take his money with him and the kids will spend it on stupid things. So he might as well get things to make life easier for you and him. Ha Ha.
