Good question Mal. We always bring on a case of bottled water in addition to other things, but we use one of those fold up luggage dollys. But we live close to the port, so it's not an issue for us.

Last sailing (Fort Lauderdale) we did put a luggage tag on a case of water... it was delivered to our cabin with one bottle missing. I am assuming it was because of the rough handling that one bottle squirted out the side. Yea, uh-huh. Still it was worth it not to lug it in a carry-on.

I tried to edit my post to include this, but a red alert popped up and said my message was spam and kicked me off. Gremlins! I'll try again.

I read on another board that someone had labeled their case of water and with a kind word and a few extra $ it made it to their cabin with no problems. I'm sure the guys in SF have seen much more interesting things going through their hands....

Question - If the ship generates uber pure water (more pure than bottled), using desalinization, distillery and reverse osmosis systems, and the water is free ... Then why pay for water and why lug heavy bottles around?

Right on Mama Duck.... even the stuff in the Lido can be interesting tasting at times, and we won't go into the Stateroom's supplies. We learned long ago to bring our own aboard.

I quit having issues with super-puffy ankles after I quit drinking ships water.... I learned that from Surfergirl years ago...Thanks Fleda!

In Ketchikan there is a great store near the dock to buy bottled water if your supply runs low.

And a suggestion - for anyone getting water supplies in port, empty out your rollaboard carryon and stick the bottles in there for easy lugging. :) Princess won't let booze aboard (notice I'm not making further comments) but water is not prohibited.

OK. Well, that answers that question. I suppose I've been fortunate (or lucky) and haven't experienced this. And, hopefully, never will.

The worst I ever experienced for yukky and smelly water was aboard Celebrity's Horizon - my favorite Celebrity ship while she was in service.

Does anyone know what days the casino will be closed during the cruise? Also, we usuall bring along a 6 pack of water and a 12 pack of Coke and never have had a problem.
