Isn't it strange how everything we do we think in terms of August 2009. Think a few of you need to jump on board with us this year and practice too. Quack Quack--woud love for my kids to meet my ducky friends. Bet they have been to wine festival in Herman enough times to show how to do the duck walk. Quack Quack--good one Mal

Hey MAW and August '08 gang - what have you all decided upon for shore excursions? Since this is my MIL's first (and maybe only) cruise we went a little crazy. So far we have these selected:

Ketchikan - Lighthouse, Totem, Eagles Excursion
Juneau - Mendenhall Glacier & Whale Quest
Skagway - Gold Fever Adventure & Exclusive Railway
Victoria - ?? We are in too late for tea, so I guess we'll just do a Double Decker Tour and then wing it.

Barb Paw and I are booked on Salmon bake in Junequ, Whitepass morning train in Skagway----kind open in Ketchican as I remember too many steps for us last time--if we can manage will try to see totels and the lumb erjack show.. Mainly just scooter around towns as we can and look. Saw yesterday 10,000 people in Juneau day we are that looks like a lot of crowd watching.

Barb, we're planning on the Wildlife Quest next year. We've been twice and can't wait to go back!

The last time we were in Alaska, we did the Misty Fjord excursion. It was a beautiful sunny day. When they handed out the comment cards, Bruce's Wife wrote, "...needs more mist...!"

Good morning, Duck Crew!

Maw - looking over the various excursions people have booked THIS year, in Ketchikan you and Paw might want to consider the boat excursion to Misty Fjords if it's offered. Wonderful scenery, and you should have little problem going from the ship's dock to where the boat leaves for Misty Fjords, and then getting on/off the excursion boat.

Mal - I LOVE that cartoon. Can you possibly scan it and e-mail it to me? QVACK (you forgot that one - :grin ).

I don't know what else we plan to do, but the one thing I've done that I know I'll do again is in Juneau. We paddled a 12 person canoe out to the face of Mendenhall Glacier, then went over to the waterfall beach for a mini-picnic. Glacial ice makes nice cold drinks. The guide was careful to keep us far enough back from the glacier face so that we would be safe, but we were VERY close. Another excursion I would like to do again is a helicopter landing on a glacier outside Skagway. The pilot stayed with us and acted as our guide, so we were able to explore a glacial cave, and do some very easy climbing. It was the first time we had not had to stay in a roped off, restricted area on a glacier landing. I'll try to figure out how to post pictures one of these days. Maw, is Paw going to have those navy blue shorts in time for the Branson trip?
