QUACK - QUACK !!!

Appologize for the absense from the thread. Have worked 64 hours last week and have another 64 staring at me for this week. And all that's on top of the regular household stuff and projects. Sure will be glad when "the powers that be" decide on what they're going to do about out personnel shortage. Only going to get worse after the cruise.

We have three security positions here. One is 40 hrs/week (Sun-Thur nights), and two are 24 hours/weekend (two 12 hour shifts each Fri through Sun night). The regular weekday officer retired three weeks ago and (although management had about two months advance notice) they haven't filled the slot. So, I'm working my 24 hours Fri and Sat night shift, in addition to covering the Sun-Thurs shift. The remaining officer (Sat and Sun day shift) announced that, come October, he's leaving. They haven't even started interviewing for the first position yet! In addition, I submitted my request for time off for this cruise, four months. Management hasn't approved it yet, as my current manager is leaving on th 22nd and wants to wait until the new manager takes over. From my point of view, that's their problem. SunFlower and I will be on this cruise.

If push comes to shove, I'll be moving on. Can always say, "Hi. Welcome to Wal-Mart. Would you like a cart?"

Well I had some time to think a bit more about it, and have come to the conclusion that there might just be an explanation for that which consumes most of what we are presented with. Take for example this railroad issue that has never seems to be settled. If you ask me I would say give the squirrels and rabbits what they want for goodness sakes. This is not a time to burry ourselves in the doldrums of complexual intricacies, but more so a time and opportunity to march forth with a sense of purpose and commitment, enveloping the very being from within. During a conversation that I had with bOB recently, it came to me like a bolt out of the bolt drawer, that if there would be one, and only one difference that divides us, that difference would expel the misconception of the previous direction. I also feel it is high time we recognize the rhinoceros for all they have brought to the effort, for without the insight gained from them we would be lost in a vast never ending sea of bewilderment. In closing I would like to thank you for the many cards and letters I have received in reference to the above, and wish you all the best in whatever intellectual endeavor you choose to pursue!

I remain…..Yours in OLIVES!

MAL D.

I spoke with Jan this morning - she is still hospitalized and will be there until the end of the week under the best circumstances. She still has her NG tube, but the catheter has been removed. She sounds in amazingly good spirits despite what she's gone through...and she's beginning to feel hungry, which is a good sign! :thumb She is sooooooo looking forward to this cruise.

I had to burst out laughing.

Mama D, I'm glad Jan is doing so well. She might just be hardy enough to make it to the ship on time!

Well I must admit to some behind-the-scenes "inspiration", but 23-3 is Edificio Torres Blancas in Madrid.

I have been told that in Skagway you can use the computers in the library to access the internet, does any know if this information is correct?

I don't know if it's true, Jim, but if it is, Millenium and Rhapsody of the Seas will be in port with us. Remember the days of standing in line for the public telephone before cell phones became so popular?
