Ahhhhhhhh. Wasted many days of my life in the "Hash-bury". And more than a few nights in the Tenderloin ...

With two days to play tourist, we're thinking of renting a car on Monday and taking a run up to Marin County to visit my primary stomping grounds.

We may start with a visit to the artist colony of Sausalito, and over to my school, Terra Linda High, then up to Bodega Bay for lunch at The Tides Wharf Restaurant (remember Hitchcock's film - The Birds?), followed by a nice, liesurly drive down the Pacific Coast Highway, throuh Muir Woods (Redwoods National Monument) and back to The City.

Tuesday will be a chance to tour The City (Hash-bury, Union Square, a cable car ride or two, and navigating Lombard Street are must do's), lunch and early afternoon on Fisherman's Wharf, maybe take in a ball game at AT&T Park, and finish up with dinner in Chnatown.

Wednesday, it has to be IHop for the Duck Crew Breakfast, then The Jewel!

QUACK QUACK - ATTENTION AGAIN DUCK CREW!!!

I am delighted to announce that Bostongal (Meg) and her DH are our newest official DITS, so please join me in giving them a heartfelt welcome to our wacky group. Please understand that, out of respect for everyone concerned, I would not make the official announcement until everything was in place.

So, Meg and Marty, WELCOME ABOARD. Just be prepared for those 3 vultures in Duck's feathers - Mal, bOB & Bruce. ::eek:

Thank you for the welcomes! Quack Quack back at all of you!

I am not sure what I backed us into but Marty and I are very very excited and can't wait to be onboard with all of you rabble rousers. Just hope we don't spend the cruise in the brig!

Years ago I was in S.F. on my own and we had friends who were living across the bay who kindly took me up to Stinson Beach and up the Pacific Coast Highway. I had the best time there and I look forward to Marty getting to see San Francisco.

We are so in for breakfast at IHOP, sundaes at Ghiradelli, Chinatown.

A few questions:

Were does the ship sail from in S.F. and how far is it from the hotel area (Fisherman's Wharf)? I am busy making spreadsheets for travel arrangements, hotels and am wondering if I need to get a car service set up to get to the Pier (I think it might be close by though so that wouldn't be necessary).

Since I am new to the Duck Crew can any of the veterans tell me what I might expect? I am sure there is some form of initiation into the group but really I can only withstand one round of keel hauling :lol so be gentle.

Meg (and Marty who lurks....)

Thanks Judi - We look forward to meeting you again and cruising with you for your birthday.

Mal - I am worried now - trying to think of a high tech version of keel hauling and have yet to fully appreciate what that may mean. Just so I know - will bribes be out of order or gratefully accepted?

Calgon - I look forward to meeting you and your wife!

Corky - I could give you some tips to successful keel hauling (it starts by getting someone to take your place....) :lol

Since I read earlier discussions of Martini drinking and mention of Chocolate Martinis, I thought I would recommend my personal favorite - Toasted Almond Martini.
