Sure wish I could get on and off the Cable cars but afraid that would be a no no for me. I am not into ball games eaither. Would like to do china town as did not lst time. We did a nice grey hound excursion. Of course you could spend days at Fisherman's wharf. Just to be with the company will be the big treat.

Well, Maw, the IHOP here has room for all the duckies, so maybe the one there will also. I still MUST have the Hot Fudge Sundae and ride the cable car, one way or the other. When do we leave?????? QUACK!!!

Ahoy Duck Crew!

I hope you're enjoying the holiday weekend.

From what I can tell, all DDD's who have booked their hotels so far are either at the Holiday Inn Express Fisherman's Wharf or the Hilton Fisherman's Wharf. I think those of us who can't manage to get on/off the Cable Cars can have an extra Hot Fudge Sundae or two as compensation for our disappointment... :grin

San Francisco has so much to offer, but in all our enthusiasm we need to remember that Ducks are descending on different days - as close in as the day prior to sailing. So there undoubtedly will be groups within groups planning their different activities.

Just so I can extend the butterfly net and herd you all aboard ship on August 12th! :grin

Good evening, Ducks, Ducklings and DITs, from central Joisey where it's 80 degrees.

We went to my Nephew's for a Labor Day picnic. He is a phenomenal cook. We had ribs and beef kabobs and chicken kabobs with all the trimmings. He also is the only one in our Family who can make cole slaw like my Mother and Grandmother did....YUMMMMMMMY

Tomorrow, we're off to the city to tour the ms Eurodam....we can't wait to see her!!!!

Hope everyone has had a nice & safe day! :thumb :thumb

Good evening all....we had a nice day too. LOL I had my "bathing suite" on for the first time this summer and went to one of our beaches here in our lake community with my DD Mindy and nice Kim and families. SIL Chris, GS Nathan and Jack met up with us on their boat and gave the other Grandkids all rides. He has a 13 ft "jet boat" that is great for him and the two boys instead of the jet ski he use to have. DD Jacquie & family and Jenny met with us back at the house for dinner. We BBQed steak and burgers, had grill roasted potatoes, onions and mushrooms, a nice salad and corn on the cob for dinner. The kids enjoyed ice crean for dessert. It was a good day :)

Yes, and yes. In my opinion. Granted it has been a few years, but we enjoyed the day we spent there.

Another "Yes", and "Yes". A very good day's, or afternoon's outing. Went often when I lived out there. It used to be called 'The Fleishhacker Zoo'. Wonder if it still goes by that name ....?

Mornin' Glories!!

Maw - one of our excursions will be to Chinatown...I hope to spend many hours winding my way through eating, looking, eating, looking, eating looking. :lol If you and Paw want to go with us on the day we go, we would love to have you join us. :)

Sounds like a lot of duckies had good days yesterday. I baked an apple pie and we headed to Tennessee to visit friends. They are only about 45 mins down the road. We had a marvelous grilled out meal, played shuffle board in the house on their new indoor shuffle board game. I am not any good. :)P) We didn't get home until almost 11 last night,
so it was a Long day - but we sure enjoyed our visit with our BFF's!

Today is laundry day, puttering around the house day, and going to a friends later for a fried fish dinner. Yum!!

I hope all DDD's have a fantabulous day today!! Quack-Quack!!

Quack Quack had a great day yesterday with the family. The last 3 years everything has not been "normal" on holidays and yesterday seemed more like they used to be Ribs were good. Little Julian has decided he is going cruising with Maw. He had been telling his dad's family all abt Maw's cruise and she was going to take him. First I heard of this. LOL

Just going to kick back today and do nothing(well there is a load of clothes chruning.) I have a couple of books I can start.

Shipmaven - you are so correct in this statement. SF does have so much to offer, and we all do have different arrival days, and I know for my clan we are going to be hard pressed to get in every thing we want to see and do. Please let me say, to all DDD's, that anything my clan plans, and you want to jump on board, please do not hesitate to ask if you can tag along. The more the merrier in our books!!

Quack-Quack!!

When we went to Chinatown on the Amigos' cruise we took the trolley system. Got on the historic trolley right along the wharf... and then had to transfer to another trolley that took us to the gate of Chinatown. I don't remember the name of the restaurant but the food was sure good!

Good Monday Morning, Duck Crew - and Happy Labor Day. <img src=http://www.uselessgraphics.com/duck-2.gif>

Yesterday, I thought I'd kick back and spend some quality time with Pucci. WRONG. Worked all day. So...I'll try again today after clearing some work off my desk this morning. We'll see how THIS day goes. Pucci and I are invited to dinner tonight.

In San Francisco, for those who can't take the Cable Cars or Trolleys, a very pleasant and scenic tour is Golden Gate Park - beautiful to simply sit and admire. The various boat rides are fun as well. And Chinatown is...well...Chinatown...a visual and tasty treat! And then there are those who have special interests like ball games, winery tours, etc., etc., etc. I don't think anyone will be bored! :lol

We got to see so much in San Fran when we were there for Amigos I am not sure what we are going to do before the Duck cruise except have lots of fun! I am sure that there are still some things that we have not seen yet though. Chinatown was okay but I have had just as good or better Chinese food here in
KC as we did there. Maybe we went to the wrong place =huh

We did go to a wonderful place for dinner called Cioppino's (down on the Wharf) which was so good that we ate there
twice and will definately eat there again. We also went to a place that had over 100 different tequillas and had some
WONDERFUL margarittas and that is also a must do for August! Anyone who wants to join us at those two places
is more than welcome also! I am sure that at the tequilla place they have other things to drink :D Both of these places
were within walking distance to the Tuscan so I am not sure about the HI or Hilton but we will be checking it out!!!!

I was reviewing the streetcar site, which Nieciez was so courteous to post. Found one car that has just become a 'must do' during our visit to The City. Car number 952 ... a streetcar named "Desire". Here's the link to her site ... http://www.streetcar.org/mim/streetcars/fleet/antique/952/index.html

On another note, speaking as someone who has lived in the San Francisco area, a word of advice ... Please refer to San Francisco as either "San Francisco", "The City" or even "Shaky Town". Any other name, i.e. - "Frisco", "San Fran", "Bagdad by the Bay", "Golden Gate City", etc. is considered an insult by native San Franciscans. http://www.virtualtourist.com/trave...ms-San_Francisco-SF_Nicknames_Pride-BR-1.html , http://sf.metblogs.com/2006/11/16/what-might-be-acceptable-san-francisco-names/

This afternoon/evening has been a kick-back time, with the exception of (what else???) going out to dinner.

I go to the Cardiologist tomorrow at 11:45am......wish me luck!

Hope everyone has had a nice & safe holiday weekend....we sure did! :thumb :thumb

Good luck tomorrow Judi. Leon has another stress test tomorrow, so it sounds like all the cardiologists will be making money from the ducks this week.

Denise, I believe you went to Brandy Ho's for Chinese that time. They are MSG free. Love that place, used to eat there when I lived in THE CITY.

Thanks, Calgon, yes, please don't call it Frisco. I was amazed people still do. Haven't heard it called Baghdad by the Bay since Herb Caen died, though. Still miss him...

One thing I haven't seen anyone cover yet is that you can do Segway tours of the waterfront areas in the City. Friends did it, and loved it!
