On another note, speaking as someone who has lived in the San Francisco area, a word of advice ... Please refer to San Francisco as either "San Francisco", "The City" or even "Shaky Town". Any other name, i.e. - "Frisco", "San Fran", "Bagdad by the Bay", "Golden Gate City", etc. is considered an insult by native San Franciscans.
Living in this area for almost 1/2 my life I can tell you a lot of things people have called the "City by the Bay" over the years but I would end up in mama duck's doghouse and be banned from this board for life!!!!!::eek:

Happy Sept!!

Good luck to all of our DDD's visiting the doctor today and I know all of you will bring home good test results!

Globug - welcome to the flock and can't wait to meet you!!

Calgon - thanks for the heads-up...I guess once I arrive in San Francisco I will not call it San Fran while out in public and possibly talking with a local. :)

Back to the old grindstone for me...ugh...at least it will be a short week.

Happy Day Duckies!! Quack-Quack!!

Good morning, Ducks, Ducklings and DITs, from central Joisey where it's a sunny 79 degrees......today is supposed to be the start of another heat wave.....UGH!!!!

Glo, welcome to the duck pond. I would suggest you grow several more sets of eyes, so you'll be able to look all around you.....you never know when a "whack attack" will sneak up on you!

I don't think I'm guilty of calling San Francisco any of the "forbidden" names. I will, however, admit to calling it SFO. I guess it's a holdover from my travel agency owner days! :)

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before or not, but one of the musts on our list is the Buena Vista Cafe. They are supposed to have the best Irish Coffee!! Their web site is The Buena Vista Cafe

Hope everyone has a nice & safe day! :thumb :thumb

many wonderful ideas of fun things to do in San Francisco. We dis a Gray Line tour last time which did give us a nice overview of the city. Heard on the news this morning Giridalis was having a chocolae festival and something about a giant sundai called a volcano(seems it might take several of us to eat that.) Another thing I would like to see is Chinatown. My first Chinatown was in San Francisco way back in 1948 living in the rural area I did this was really exotic to me.

Good test results for Leon and Judi just dawned on ,e think Paw has an appt this week with cardiologist too. Gotta go check.

Quack Quack welcome Glo from another dit.

Ahoy, Duck Crew. The DITS are growing by leaps and bounds, and I expect even more to sign on later this month. I may need to call a DIT training session at the beginning of the cruise so that Mal, bOB and Bruce can share their expertise in duck wackiness.

I learned years ago never to refer to San Francisco by the shortened "f'" name, but must admit my tender eyes and ears were never aware of some of the other names - I lead such a sheltered life! :lol :angel And yes, Judi, I often write SFO but I've never heard of that being derogatory.

Again, best wishes to those with doctor's appointments today. Hey...that includes me!!! :dizzy

I might already have them! I remember driving in the car one day with my "little girl" and I felt her fingers going through the back of my hair. I asked her what she was doing, and she said she was looking for the eyes in the back of my head! LOL! I must have said that a time or two!

I passed my tests with flying colors! =docdance

My blood pressure was a bit high, but he's not terribly concerned. He's going to consult with my Internist to see if a different medication is in order.

I'll be going back to work Monday.

Hoping Leon's report is as good as mine!!!!!

Ok, I sat down and started reading... and reading.. I got to page 7 and had to take a break.

I am laughing my tail feathers off because you guys are soooo excited about hitting restaurants I go to all the time. IN & OUT... just the other day (by the way, did you know about the secret menu at IN & OUT? http://www.tiburon-belvedere.com/cgi/home.cgi?c=In_N_Out Joanne, I get the protein style all the time!), The Stinking Rose (we used to live just a few blocks from there. It used to be a very popular Italian place. Saw the other day that it had changed... :( ) But no one has mentioned SF institutions like Beach Blanket Babylon, or Dim Sum restaurants, or the Condor! LOL!

I suspect that I will finish reading just about the time that the ship sets sail!

Glo - you DO realize that you have now set yourself up as THE reference source for San Francisco? :lol

Judi - congratulations on your doctor's report. :thumb Jacquie, I'm waiting for equally good news about Leon. As for me, I'm now sporting a brace on my left foot and ankle. SIGH

OH NO! OK, CANCEL THE CRUISE!

JK! Bruce would kill me...

Calgon, that would be the Imperial Palace , 816 Washington St., San Francisco, CA 94108 -- 415.956.9888

It used to be the Golden Dragon. I remember a looooong time ago, I ate at the Golden Dragon, and the next night it was hit by the "Chinese Mafia" (I think they called it). But it is a good place for Dim Sum.

Mary Ann, sorry about your ankle. No fun....

Great report from here too! Leon passed doing the treadmill so he didn't have to have the dreaded chemical stress test. One of the techs told him that she had seen plenty of people a third his age not able to do as well as he did, so I'm thrilled!!!! That means I'm really going to have to push it or he will be long gone once we hit San Francisco and I'll be left standing by myself. Blasted back surgery!
