The zip line is said to be very popular there, Jim. I'll take someone else's word for it. But the area looks very nice.

A friend returning from the last Amsterdam cruise not only LOVED the cruise, but found Icy Straight Point fascinating.

Sis - for now, I've booked through HAL (includes transfers from airport to hotel, hotel to pier, luggage handling). I checked the hotel where I stayed last time, and it was more expensive than through HAL considering I'd have to add transfers. PM me or email me, please, if you wish.

Re. hotels, I've double-checked. There's nothing near (or within walking distance) of Pier 91.

What is a good location within Seattle in which to stay? We're staying one night pre-cruise and two nights post-cruise. I'm more selective when it comes to post-cruise.

Most locations within 10 blocks of Pike's Market are good. Lisa, a great place for you and your family to consider is Homewood Suites. Breakfast is included in the rate and complimentary dinner from Monday through Thursday. I realize the free dinner doesn't fit in post cruise. Another hotel where friends have stayed, and liked very much, is Red Lion (downtown).

I should mention...HAL has three hotel choices: Hilton at SEA-TAC Airport, the Sheraton (downtown) and the Fairmont Olympic (downtown). As I mentioned above, the HAL rates at the Sheraton and the Fairmont Olympic are very competitive with, or a bit lower than, hotels of equal ranking in downtown Seattle, especially considering that transfers from airport to hotel, hotel to ship (and luggage handling) are included.

Sis, I've looked all over HAL's site and can't find rates for the hotels. Can you please email?

I found both the Fairmont Olympic and the Sheraton Seattle Hotel (don't know if that's the same as what HAL is offering) for $230-$240. The Hilton is around $270. Those prices are per room, not per person.

We have to get our air before we can get hotels....I was just wondering about the prices.

We also need about a gazillion more miles for first class tickets. :(

In the past, cruise lines have been almost twice as much as booking ourselves because theirs is a per person rate, while the hotel is per room.
