Good morning all,
Sorry it's been a while since my last post. Anne told me she talked to Sheree on the phone and there was a rumor floating around that some old lady put me out of commission as we fought over the last $25.00 DVD player at Wal-Mart on black friday. Well, nothing could be further from the truth...contrary to witness accounts, I took the old bag out ;D Honestly though, work has just been insane and I just want to crawl in a corner at the end of the day and do nothing! I'd bore you with the details, but I'd probably feel the sudden urge to visit my therapist. To top that off my kid has been quite the handful and my evenings have been plagued with getting her caught up in school.
On the topic of Black Friday, we got to Wal-Mart at 4:00 AM (late for us) and the natives were already restless. We have a new Best Buy and Circuit City right down the road and the crazies were looming in line two days prior. I love the ADS though, big pictures of holiday wishes (visions of sugar plums) for a rediculous price. And then a size 1 font caption directly underneath "Quantities on hand limited - 1 per store" And yet these folks weather two days in the elements (ok, 75 degrees) in hopes of snagging a great deal. I think either Cris or Denise described how Wal-Mart sets up for Black Friday...same goes for here. Pretty civil...at least up til the last five minutes to opening. After that it's on! Those nice folks you just spent two hours sharing coffee and photos of the family with, are now sporting games faces that would scare Charles Manson! It is truly a free for all that brings out the best holiday pleasantries from all. I will say this for Wal-Mart though, when they run something in an ad, they usually have pallets of each item, giving most a fair shot at getting what they came for. The only thing we didn't get was the $300.00 laptop on sale, but then again no one else did either. It turned out they were already spoken for; conspiracy therist chalked it up to an inside job. Otherwise the day was pretty uneventful, we went to the mall...and left inside of an hour! Lines were so long and there was nothing we wanted that bad. Besides, all the stores were offering even better deals online and they had free shipping. And what Black Friday would be complete without coming home to a nice cup of hot chocolate and a piece of pumpkin pie, while watching this years rendition of "When Holiday Shoppers Go Mad". Yes, the holidays do bring out the best in all of us!
And with that, I will cut this off. Forgoing checking all the posts, I hope everyones holiday was a good one, loved ones are feeling better, vehicles are running, mother nature has been kind, and whatever else I left out.
By the way ladies, Black Friday sales were up 8% from last year. While there is merely speculation on my part, I'm gathering you all were in full battle dress, hence the good week on Wall Street!
