Mary Ann, I cannot believe you are a chicken, for sure not as big a one as I am! I just wish I could be there when you have the first eye done and you say "WOW" when you see how blue looks so much bluer and you can SEE! Please do not think of it as someone poking in your eye. When you have that 'happy shot' you will care less what they are doing. Just the fact you are managing to do your own drops means you are a better man than I! Having said all that we will be wishing you a happy result, and we will be with you in spirit on Tuesday. Pucci will see you through as you have done for him. Cheers. Dot and Les.

Thank you all so very much. I know everybody can't be wrong, but it's hard to get the "what if's" out of my brain. I wish I could have Pucci on my lap during the procedure like I do when I'm in the Dentist's chair - the tempo of scritching Pucci varies with whatever is going on in my mouth. :whistle: He just sits there quietly.

Just think, in 8 days you will be seeing so much more clearly in stunning color!!! Better get sunglasses, Pucci might be whiter and brighter then you expect!

Will it help to let you know I had cataract surgery done two weeks in a row!! A PIECE OF CAKE.. Let me walk you through what I had...first you sit in a lounge chair..lol. they put a cap on you, a short johnny over your clothes.. They put a dot over the eye that is the one they are working on. They take your blood pressure, ask you questions, etc. etc. Then starts a series of drops in the eye they are going to work on that numb the eye.. Then the anethesiologist gives you a bit of "happy juice" to relax .(you need to be awake).... They wheel you in and you can hear everything and feel NOTHING.. in a short time they wheeled me out....and gave me juice and crackers and walked me out the door....Parrot Pop promptly took me out for lunch...lol..This was two weeks in a row, first my right, then my left.. or was it the other way around..lol..No pain... The worst part....I can now see the aged lines in my face and as somebody on another board said..she can see (she only has one eye) the dirt, dust and veins on her legs.. The worst part... going back to the surgeon downtown Boston the next day after each surgery..and the stupid drops.. On top of all of this.. my astigmatism was so bad they had to do additional laser surgery.. and final laser surgery (no pain again) on my right eye was done on 6/10... It would be my pleasure to "talk" to you...parrotmom@verizon.net To give you a laugh..if I can.. I waited much too long to have the surgery and I was constantly washing my glasses to clean them..lol Now, without glasses (the prescription has to be changed for reading) everything is bright and clear..

My love and thanks to all for trying to put my mind at ease with your prayers and good thoughts. It's working - I feel somewhat more "relaxed" this evening than I have been leading up to this point.

Parrot Mom - your comments are most reassuring, and I THANK YOU most sincerely. When I was preparing for the first of my knee replacements, a Cruise @ddict PM'd me out of the blue. He had had his knees replaced and gave me a step by step account of what to expect, how to prepare, the absolute necessity for PT, etc., etc. He became my Guardian Angel through both replacements - he and his wife and I are now very good friends.


Glo - when I go to the Dentist, Pucci sits quietly on my lap (tail end towards me, of course) while I scritch his back. All in my Dentist's office marvel at how good he is - well, except if one of them has to take him for a minute while x-rays are done. Then, Pucci voices his displeasure at being separated from me.:whistle:

I'm sure it will all be "a piece of cake", but like you, I would be scared and unsure of any surgery having to do with my eyes. Well, come to think of it, I would be a big baby regardless of where the surgery was taking place! Again......prayers winging their way to you!

Joe & I are sending prayers. I understand about being scared but Joe had this done last year and no troubel at all. Just think when you get all done with both eyes the better you will see everything.

My heartfelt thank to all for your prayers. While I wouldn't describe this as a piece of cake, it wasn't the horror that I feared either.

I can already tell difference in colors, but I'm really cockeyed with different level of blurriness in each eye. I am not allowed to drive - my friend must drive me to/from my post-op appointment tomorrow morning, and I'm not allowed to work before Thursday. Which is fine - I can barely read what I'm writing.

Again, thank you. I'll try to check in tomorrow.
