My heartfelt thank to all for your prayers. While I wouldn't describe this as a piece of cake, it wasn't the horror that I feared either.

I can already tell difference in colors, but I'm really cockeyed with different level of blurriness in each eye. I am not allowed to drive - my friend must drive me to/from my post-op appointment tomorrow morning, and I'm not allowed to work before Thursday. Which is fine - I can barely read what I'm writing.

Again, thank you. I'll try to check in tomorrow.

Everybodies experience is a bit different, but I did know that that was the easiest part.. the pain is keeping track of the drops.. You will probably after tomorrow going back to the M.D. in five days or less.. and after my laser surgery on a Thursday I was able to drive myself to my nail appointment... hey some things are more important..lol Obviously you havn't had the other eye done.. now I feel confident that you will do it like a trouper.lol Have a good night...

Mary Ann, I just discovered your post as I don't get back here very often. I'm so glad that the surgery went well and that you are seeing improvement. At least one eye is done. Prayers for a successful outcome.

I have that to look forward too this in Aug, when medicare will kick in and cover it. I know it's not unbearable pain, as I took my friend to have her's done. I just don't like the thought of it.

With the exception of a mild dull ache for an hour or so yesterday afternoon, I've had no discomfort. I'm amazed at the difference in color - my left eye has sharp definition of color whereas looking through my right eye has a yellow smog and no definition of anything.

I returned from my post-op exam a few minutes ago. My vision in the eye operated on yesterday is 20-20 without any correction. I did tell the Doctor that the anesthetic in the eye was beginning to wear off towards the end of surgery, and he made a notation for next Tuesday.

The eye drops regimen is no problem at all for me. I have the different drops lined up in the order I must use them, and I have pre-op and post-op instruction sheets that are very clearly written.

I bought a new pair of sunglasses without prescription lenses and a pair of readers. Even if I must change the readers at some point, they're just fine for now.

So...I'm all set, please God.

I should be good to go getting back to work and driving tomorrow.

Oh...something funny. I can tell Pucci keeps looking at my face trying to figure out what's different (no glasses)...

Glad to hear that all went well. Did you have the multi-focal lenses put in or just the ones that MC pays for?

At first, my doctor told me about the multi-focals, but after taking measurements and talking to me, he decided against them. I have a regular IOL.

The caveat, so I was told, with multi-focals is that many (most?) people will see auras at night, distance is not necessarily crisp (for example, when driving, street signs may not be clear), colors may be dark. These things may - or may not - make a difference. My vision has been extremely sensitive to the slightest aberration when filling prescription for eyeglasses in the past. So the multi-focals wouldn't do for me. The newest ones cost $2,000.00 per eye over and above what Medicare allows (for those on Medicare). That's also a big consideration.

Now, for Pucci - he's cream (OK, champagne) through my left eye, and a blur through my right eye. What I see for everything through my bad eye is a yellow smog. Another comment about my good eye - I now see things in their true size, not magnified through a prescription lens. Pucci shrank!
