Michelle,
You asked about decorations on the ship right. Want to make sure I am answering the right one.LOL
Anyway, yes they do decorate.....For Hanukkah they have a Large Menorah on the same deck when we first board. When I was with the singlegroup on the Spirit Dec. 2001 we had a large group of passengers that celebrated Hanukkah. One of the crew managed to get some wine, and even had the chef make some potato pancakes(did not take like the real thing but were good anyway) One of our members said the prayer and it was very nicely done.
For the Xmas decorations they had the tree, wreaths draped down the stairway and everything looked great too. They also have a Christmas show with Santa and all the kids from camp join in on stage and preform with him. That was very cute, and a must see whether you have a kid in camp or not......they were all very good....
The minute you get on board you get the holiday feeling.......just beautiful.

Thanks Marilyn, I can say Im really glad to hear that. I was going to get a little Christmas tree for the cabin but now Im in search of a minature palm tree that I can put mini ornaments on! Not sure where Im gonna find it but I will! I keep having an image of a tropical Santa though ;) doesn't match the image I've grown up with. <giggles>

Nek we will get into Miami on Tues. and at the Radisson. Im trying to find out a decent restaurant in Miami (like there would be lack of one :) ) but something more on a reasonable price line. Would love something with a Buffet kind of atmosphere on the water.

Still no docs in the mail today........getting super ansy, AM I GONNA HAVE TO CRAWL THROUGH THE MONITOR JUST TO LOOK AT SOMEONE ELSES :)

If they let me, I'll fry up the latkes - Marilyn...what do you prefer applesauce or sour cream?

Moonglws - No lack of restaurants in Miami - I don't know where to go downtown but Miami Beach is loaded with great spots. I love South Beach - lots of atmosphere and great food. We used to live in Boca Raton loved to go to South Beach and Calle Ocho.

I WANT TO BE ON VACATION NOW! Can't wait! I am looking forward to sitting on my balcony with a glass of wine and the wind blowing gently by!

Cindi,
I like applesauce on my latkes....In fact, the best ones I had out here in Fl. was at Corkey's & Wolfees(which is no more)

Michelle
You can probably get a mini palm tree at any place that sells plants here in Fl.(walmart,Target,K-Mart) You can also get an artifical palm tree plant too.
As far as Santa is concerned, I remember the time when we came down here in the early 70's I took my kids to the mall to see Santa...Well I was shocked to see him in SHORTS....but of course this was an outdoor mall and it was over 80 degrees. The rest of the santas out here are dressed in long pants, they are in the air-conditioning malls.
Can't wait to sail,
Marilyn

Hi all,

Just a reminder of something else everyone needs to do. Please, everyone, get your flu shot. I didn't & am just now beginning to get over a 10 day bout with it. It's horrible & sure could ruin a vacation! No docs yet, but they're sure to get here any day.

Marilyn: What happened to Wolfie's? I loved to eat there! How about Pumpernik's? Is the Rascal House still open? I was hoping to take a cab over to Miami Beach to have breakfast at Rascal House on Wednesday morning.

Hi Cindi,
Well Wolfie's closed I believe it was earlier this year. It was in Miami Beach on the corner. Remember them very well too. Loved their pickles, & saurkraut.....and of course their little rolls and danish. Yummy....
There used to be one on 163st in North Miami Beach when we first came down to Fla. in the early 70's....After my kids went to school all the mothers used to go there and have breakfast.
Pumpernik's I am not too sure if all their rest. are still open. I know they closed a few of them.My late husband's friends uncle owned Pumpernik's.
Rascal House is still in same spot......Go and enjoy your meal...love their corn beef. sandwiches.
Busy wrapping holiday gifts now, we are celebrating Hanukkah Thanksgiving with memeber of our family not going with us on cruise.....
Speaking of cruise........getting closer,
Have a great day today,
Marilyn

Michelle,
Just want to tell you of another place you can get a palm tree......
Try Burdines when you get out here or any other department store...They carry artifical ones, which almost look real.
Palms are very popular here in Fl. In my house I have one of my bathrooms with palm decorations and also my bedroom. This is a big thing out here.

Documents arrived today!! A word of caution to everyone................read your documents carefully. I was just "savoring the moment" & reading through mine & got a "surpirse" on page 5 of the ticket book. This page is headed "Funpass Status Information" & the following is a quote. "Our records indicate that your party has NOT provided us with all the required advance boarding information. The Department of Homeland Security requires this information & failure to provide it in advance may result in denied boarding. Please proceed to register online by accessing www.carnival.com/mycruise & print a status page indicating your Online FunPass is complete. You will need to present this proof to gain access lane & expedite your check-in process. If this process is not completed by two days prior to sailing, all guests in your party will have to complete the enclosed forms and participate in a full registration process upon arrival at the cruise terminal."

Well, this all seems a bit strange since I HAVE previously submitted all information requested in the booking process. However, I will log onto the site supplied & try once again to give them all the information required. My last cruise was in Dec. 2002 & I didn't have to go through any of this at that time. However, when I flew to Las Vegas in April 2003 I had to fill out additional information both before & after I got to the airport.

I, for one, resent this governmental infringement of my rights when terrorists still roam the world doing whatevere they want, whenever & where ever they want. Enough of my "soapboxing", but just thought I would warn everyone to check their doccuments carefully so they won't have any problems boarding.

Tiardeenin,
This is something new for Carnival....All you are going to be doing is pre-register so you don't have to do it when you get to the port.
The site will not be up until Nov 25 when we can register.
I did this before with Princess and it sped up the process of boarding. All I needed to do was show them my ID and then I was on my way onboard.
I did not have to show them a credit card because I had already register online, and that saved time...With the Pr incess site I was able to book any excursions I wanted to in advance.
This is a good thing after all who wants to wait on a long line until someone in front of you has to fill out paperwork.
I think if they don't have access to a computer they can call in the information.

Tiadeerin,
It is a piece of cake....Don't worry, just look forward to a great cruise.
Sure there is lots of security at the ports, but that is for our own good. Afterall there are some crazy's out there. I feel better knowing that there is plenty of security to watch over us.
Tiadeerin what other cruise ships did you go on. Your name seems very familar....Did you ever go on Enchantment of the Seas?

Marilyn,

No, I've never been on Enchantment of the Seas. Actually, my name is Flo & my previous cruises are as follows.

Comodore Cruise Lines Enchanted Isle, Mediterrenean Shipping Co. MS Monterey, Carnival Celebration 3 times, Carnival Spirit in 2002 & Carnival Conquest in 2002. I've been so happy cruising Carnival that I've just stuck with them. I prefer leaving from either Galveston or New Orleans since I can easily drive to those ports.
