Good morning all!!!!

Doris came home yesterday!!! yipee.....She is doing good, no more IV's and she did not even have to take antibiotics anymore. Still sensative to light and loud noises but for the most part is doing remarkably well.

Dee is doing good, happy to be home. She is coming to work tonight for a purse party, my sister is going to go over and hang with Doris while we are at the purse party.

Nothing else to report at this time.....

Have a fab day.

Hi Cats! Just got home from a little retail therapy! I bought a couple of skirts in bright colors since it seems like in the winter all I do is wear black....Also picked up some curtains because I've been tired of looking at boring windows. When Greg comes home from teaching, he'll see 2 different curtains in the family room. He'll have to choose what he wants since this is considered "his territory." We call the Family Room his "man cave" - so I've got to keep things pretty solid and basic. Good thing I am not big on flowered patterns either!

I watched a really cool show last night where people go out shopping for a new home and they have three choices. You get to see the houses as the couples do and then see what they chose and how they liked it a couple of months later. Last night the couple was from New Jersey and they were buying in St Martin - let me tell you that I was suprised that the housing prices weren't as bad as I thought they'd be. They actually chose this new construction home with a pool right outside their bedroom, and these wall/shutter things that just slid back, like you were opening up the side of your house to the outside. The house was $440k - and it was quite a house. Not that we could afford that, but I was expecting things to be even more expensive than that. It got me thinking about how cool it would be to live someplace like that someday! Maybe we'll go house hunting when we are St Martin in 6 months. RIGHT! Yes folks, 6 months from now we'll be cruising!!!!

Not much is up here. I am going to try to finish the taxes this weekend and also continue to shop for airfare to Las Vegas. It's a pretty lazy weekend here, but it's sunny and warming up a bit. Today we're in the mid-50's, which feels great. I am sure we'll see more snow though!

Enjoy the weekend.....hi to Doris! (And everyone else, of course!) Sheree

Good morning all,

Sheree, it's in the 90's here...way to early for that. Maybe we can get a group discount on homes in St. Martin ;) On the home front, we closed on our refinance on Friday. Carpet, tile, closets and some major remodeling are all scheduled for the next few weeks. I have pool people coming over at the end of next week. Anne has been pricing new furniture and patio stuff...can't wait for it all to be done.

Remind me to never pick up my phone the next time my sister goes yard saling! She bought a piano yesterday and I had to help load and unload it. Needless to say, on the unload I popped something in my lower back and have been sore ever since.

On our four day cruise coming up in May, we decided to take one of our nieces to tag along with Arrielle. Took all three yesterday to Dillards to find dresses...all day adventure! Arrielle and her cousin found a dress, Anne didn't! She probably won't get a dress for this cruise anyway, she is looking for the big cruise in SIX MONTHS!!! I have to call Carnival this morning to find out what type of paperwork I need to bring my niece.

Well, thats it for now, hope everyone set there clocks forward. That is except for us, we are the only state that doesn't partake in daylight savings time.

By the way, should I try Priceline one more time at $80 or one more time at $75?

Sorry to hear about the back, George! Now with the time change for us, you are three hours off from us in the Eastern time zone, right? This always goofs me up! Why does Arizona not participate?

You know, we want to move south when we retire, but we hadn't thought about as south as St martin! When we were younger, and first started cruising, we always asked people in St Thomas and Grand Cayman about living there and Greg becoming a firefighter there. Of course, that's probably the dream of everyone who visits there.

We should probably start our discussions about the ports, too. Are you guys still thinking about diving in St Martin, or do we girls win, and are we shopping instead? (Or house hunting?:)D ) Unless someone has a great idea for San Juan, Greg and I might make that a ship day since we've been there so many times at this point. Anyone have any ideas? And as for Labadee, does anyone want to try anything adventurous, or are most of us planning on Labadoozies under a palm tree?

Jim and the Orlando girls, did you get to see each other yesterday?

Hope you are all having a good Sunday....Sheree

Re: Give Me Liberty or Give Me the Big Cats 9/15/07 (or Give Me Both!)

Hi again folks - George, I was posting and didn't see your second post. Try whatever you'd like - $5 doesn't really make a difference to me. Maybe I'll call the Intercontinental again this week and see what I am told. If we are the only ones holding up the government rate issue, we could always pay someone to book our room. Or is everyone a city employee?

I had some luck on my Las Vegas airfare. I had been checking on the Continental website for a couple of weeks and the ideal flight, with the best times, was $309. I thought that was still high. I went on there a couple of days ago, and it was up to $380. I checked this morning, when I posted on here, and only one flight was still at $309, with somewhat inconvenient times, but it was still direct, so I asked Greg if he thought I should still book it, even though we were hoping to pay less than $300. He said to go ahead. Well, once I signed in until my frequent flyer number, the price dropped to $238! I had never really noticed a difference between the prices that they offer normally and the price for frequent flyers (though we're not so frequent anymore) but I was pleasantly surprised! Here's a question for the group.....have any of you flown on the smaller regional jets? There's something out there called an Embraer jet? When I checked on the flights to Miami, the planes that go direct from Cleveland to Miami are all these Embraer jets - 2 seats on one side, 1 on the other. Based on the timing, they are definitely jets, not the little commuter things. But I am not sure I want to fly on something that small. I might look at another airline, even though we tend to do Continental most. I'm also checking Airtran out of Akron, like we did once before. Anyone have any experience on these little jets??

I work for the City, Jim works for the County, I am good for $80 and I think from there we should maybe wait...see about reserving rooms at Gov discont and then continue to see if we can get it for $60 in April... the $60 differance could help out with the bar bill :)o

Re: Give Me Liberty or Give Me the Big Cats 9/15/07 (or Give Me Both!)

Happy Birthday Dan....and enjoy your trip.

Jim - Greg's a city employee. The problem was that when I called the Intercontinental, I was given different information than George. I was told that we didn't qualify for the $107 rate - that was just for the federal government employees. We qualified for the higher rate, which was $169, I think, for state/city government employees. George was told that we qualifed for the $107. I agree on waiting for Priceline for a bit longer.

Is this time change killing anyone else? I can't believe how hard it is to get out of bed for the last two mornings! I guess it's the getting up and going to work in the dark thing that bothers me. I like the extra daylight after work, but I wish that they would've kept it the way it used to be, and changed the clocks 3 weeks from now. We're all excited about it being close to 70 here today. I can't wait to get out of work and enjoy it a bit! We're supposed to be back down into the upper 20's for lows this weekend though.

Sounds good all, let's hold off on the Priceline bidding for a month. If I can find some time, I will call the Intercontinental for clarification on the Government rates.

Sheree, I agree this time change thing is killing us too...well, at least the getting out of bed and going to work part ;)
