Re: Give Me Liberty or Give Me the Big Cats 9/15/07 (or Give Me Both!)
Hi again folks - George, I was posting and didn't see your second post. Try whatever you'd like - $5 doesn't really make a difference to me. Maybe I'll call the Intercontinental again this week and see what I am told. If we are the only ones holding up the government rate issue, we could always pay someone to book our room. Or is everyone a city employee?
I had some luck on my Las Vegas airfare. I had been checking on the Continental website for a couple of weeks and the ideal flight, with the best times, was $309. I thought that was still high. I went on there a couple of days ago, and it was up to $380. I checked this morning, when I posted on here, and only one flight was still at $309, with somewhat inconvenient times, but it was still direct, so I asked Greg if he thought I should still book it, even though we were hoping to pay less than $300. He said to go ahead. Well, once I signed in until my frequent flyer number, the price dropped to $238! I had never really noticed a difference between the prices that they offer normally and the price for frequent flyers (though we're not so frequent anymore) but I was pleasantly surprised! Here's a question for the group.....have any of you flown on the smaller regional jets? There's something out there called an Embraer jet? When I checked on the flights to Miami, the planes that go direct from Cleveland to Miami are all these Embraer jets - 2 seats on one side, 1 on the other. Based on the timing, they are definitely jets, not the little commuter things. But I am not sure I want to fly on something that small. I might look at another airline, even though we tend to do Continental most. I'm also checking Airtran out of Akron, like we did once before. Anyone have any experience on these little jets??
