Marc, the Quebec stop is lovely. It's one of the few "overnight" stops that any HAL ship does, and the location of the dock is very picturesque.
I'm beginning to get excited about our trip, getting things on the old homestead ready for our departure, and trying to find clothes that fit!

Cinder,

I have no trouble finding clothes that fit. I'm just worried about having clothes that fit at the end of the cruise. It is really getting close now.

Suer,

I plan on doing that. However, I could be in my next larger clothes before the ship leaves the dock. :worried My concern is whether to go up 2 sizes.

Salt air and steam from the buffets.. I think you are right!!

Since we are so close to sailing.. How about confirming the meeting times onboard? After searching back through the posts it seems the following 2 get-togethers were planned:

#1 Meet at 3:30 at the Dolphin bar on the Lido Deck. This will be the side of the ship that faces the port by the tables.

#2 Meet again after the lifeboat drill (around 5pm) at the aft pool on the Navigation deck (10) for the sailaway. Again meet on the same side the faces the port. If inclement weather, meet at the Crow’s nest.

Please correct me if this is wrong.

There is one place you missed Maureen. John and I are going to be meeting on the gangway at 11:30, hipchecking each other trying to be the first one on the ship. :lol

I drove from Portsmouth into Norfolk today to do some shopping and as I crossed the Berkley bridge, which crosses the Elizabeth river, I saw a Carnival cruise ship that just returned from a Bahama cruise. We took that cruise last year from Norfolk and had a blast. After seeing the cruise ship in Norfolk, the excitement level went up knowing that in just over a week, we all will be on our ship. REALLY looking forward to it.

My wife and I will look you up at the Lido deck around 3:30. We have the early dining on the upper level so we may not make it to the sail away. Who knows till it happens.

KE4nxw,

Which early seating do you have, upper (5:45 PM) or lower (6:15 PM). We're at early lower ourselves. The first night is casual, and as all we have is a relatively short drive to the pier (we live in Chesapeake), I'm figuring that we won't have to do much for dinner other than go to the DR. So I'm hoping to make it to both sailaways.

We are at the early upper seating for the dinner. Hopefully there will be someone in the group that will be at the same time.

My wife and I went to vote for the next president the other day. Make sure everyone in the group votes before you leave. It will be interesting to see how the election results will be covered on the ship.

Marc, are chop-blocks illegal?
Sailaway festivities I guess will depend alot on when lifeboat drill occurs. HAL takes them pretty seriously and most times you have just enough time to run your life jacket back and get ready to sail. We'll try and get to the early meeting place as soon as we can. Hopefully the luggage gods are with us.
I get the feeling election results are going to be up in the air until we are well on our way home. Last elections mess may be just a blip on the radar.

John, depends on whether the ref is watching.

I have my absentee ballot, but haven't sent it in yet. I'll make sure I do it this week, so I don't have to try and remember next week.

Today the Maasdam is cruising the Saguenay Fjord (hmmm, I own an Explorer and a Ranger and I've always spelled it Ford. Must be a Canadian spelling.):lol

I'm driving DW crazy (what else is new). She almost hit me when I told her at dinner that twelve days from now we'll be nearing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and two weeks from now we'll be watching HMC as we're sailing away from her. She's considering changing her dining time to get away from me.

I had been doing pretty good with my pre-cruise diet until about a week ago. And then it was a bad week. So I got back on it yesterday, and hopefully will stick with it until getting on the ship. Luckily I have casual clothes in three different sizes.;)

Ironing, folding making final decision. Guess what we are doing today. Glad I have lists because it would be easy to get lost in our house today. Trying to cut down but keep seeing one more thing.

Glad to learn what was shrinking my clothes will have to be careful abt that steam in the buffet line. Paw says we have to weigh morning we leave and then day we get back. That really doesn't sound fair to me.

Back to the suitcases.

Maw,

I agree. Doesn't sound fair to me either. Weighing yourself right after a cruise is a definite :nono I would just pack the scale with everything else, and throw it overboard somewhere between Norfolk and HMC. :devil

Of course, if you need some help avoiding gaining weight, we'll be happy to motivate you in the gym. :flog

I guess it's only a few more days and you're on the road. Looking forward to meeting you.

Good idea Marc. Only problem no room left in suitcase. Everything in except shoes. Tennys for formal night looking like a distinct possiblity here too. Paw keeps saying why do I need all those shoes.?I thought I was doing good l pr sandals, one pr of tennys , one pr of dress black shoes. Maybe there will be room for them in with the water and pop. He was sure glad though that you all solved why his clothes got tighter on cruise. He says he will watch the steam from steam tables more.

Paw said there was no way I was going to be able to close that suit case. I proved him wrong. Now he wonders who is going to lift it off the table.

Any one else got theirs packed.?

Churchill is yours ready to go?
