Amunet, what's your research about? Don't let the chatter discourage you from posting here......we really are a friendly group! We can probably answer any cruise questions you might have, but as far as other research goes, probably not.......we are veteran cruisers who usually cruise RCI, but do have other cruise lines in our past experiences.

sanjoseca said:
Yeah, what are you studying Am?

Well, it's not Cruise related, but it is travel related. I'm majoring in Asian Studies and one of my classes is Asian Society. My paper is on Cultural Tourism (mostly directed towards Indonesia) and how far the government/states will stretch their culture just to make a buck. I chose Indonesia because they encourage tourists to watch and even participate in funerals in some regions.

Lol I don't mind chatter! And as I've said, I'm really starting to like RCI and may become a big fan ... if only I could get a TA to talk to me :phone

So hey, if you guys have experience traveling to Indonesia and partaking in the funerals or noticed anything outwardly in-your-face cultural tourism, lemme know. Course, the paper is due tomorrow :p

OK AM, so you're looking for a Travel Agent to talk to you about Indonesian Funerals.....is that what I'm reading? Sounds like an interesting concept for a travel experience. Good luck with the paper.

BTW, Ritag is a good TA.

I'm not really actively seeking a TA for that info, but if there is one that has knowledge, then sure! I have a lot of books and articles to read through though, so I do have materials.

Yeah, it is a rather interesting topic, if it were up to me, I'd do something on cruising but the paper has to be about Asia(ns) and address social issues.

Good morning! I hope our friend Rita is wealthier than she was before visiting the Indians! So farm we haven't heard, so who knows?

It's going to be a beautiful day here today with temps in the high 80s. It's a good day to repot a lot of the plants out on the deck. Only bad part is that our neighbor 2 doors away is getting a dock today. All you hear is the wood being sawed and then the hammering. Hopefully, they won't be at it all day.

So AM - Did you get your report finished?

BB: You should have SOLD your neighbors your Dock and Poontoon Boat.........I don't think I remember you ever using it much. But it is nice to have just in case!! Hee hee.

TGIF to you all. Suppose to get to 78 degrees here today and NO Humidity . Love this time of the year.

Hi Kathie and BB. Weather here is cooler now.

Went to Watsonville last night to take some stuff over to Matthew......got hamburgers at a new BBQ place that they can walk to....That was after our trip to San Jose earlier in the afternoon.

Well surprise, surprise! Look what the cat dragged in!!!! Good to see you here, K2. it's been a while ... Bert would be lost without his dock. He, like a lot of the men around here, likes to fish off the dock. They strictly do it for fun. Catch and release. Bert also likes to feed the fish from the dock. He likes to watch the feeding frenzies that happen when he throws certain things into the lake. He really does need to get a life!!!

Glad you're getting warmer weather up your way, Kathie, and that your weather has cooled off, San. It's heating up down here with no rain in sight. That's bad as we're getting brush fires around central Florida.

By the way - Be on the lookout for Florida corn. It's just starting to come in. We had some last night and it was so sweet and tender, you really didn't even have to cook it!

[large]They had that Florida Corn at my Veggie Market down a mile away from our house. Didn't buy any because I thought it was just too early for it. Now I will. Thanks BB.
By the way, I'm sure you know that I LURK on this site so the CAT REALLY hasn't dragged me in!! :girly Just don't want to step on others paws!! :)D

Off to do the kitchen floor while Art is out biking and out of my way!! Have a great day all.

Hi all,

I'n here, not richer, not poorer, but had a good time. Pretty much lost just a little, but had a lobster dinner and Bill had fish and chips. We had vouchers for $45 for food, so it was worth the ride and the time. It's been a few months since we've been to this casino, but we hit the casino in Tampa twice during our Florida stay. Second time we went to visit our money:D

We're supposed to have temps in the 80's this weekend. Last week the heat was on and it was in the 30's......you have to love New England.

Had some excitement here this morning. Dear husband went off to babysit, and set the house alarm.
Well, after making the bed, I opened the window, and of course, the alarm sounded. I ran down and shut the alarm off, then the phone rings, it's the alarm company, asking if everything is OK, I assured them it was, give them the password, they hang up.Then my cell phone rings, same alarm company, asking the same questions, including what is the password, which I gave them, so they hung up. About two minutes later two police cars skid into the driveway and there is pounding on the door. I answer to find two police officers, one with his hand on his gun, asking if everything is all right. Now mind you, our son is a local police officer, but they want to know if all is OK. I guess I gave the wrong password! After talking with them they left (we had a good laugh), and I'm trying to call the alarm company to determine the password. Of course, they won't give it to me, because I don't have the password, but they did tell me where I could find it.....on the paperwork we filled out when we changed alarm companies! I found it. In the meantime, the alarm company has called our son, who is in a training class, our daughter, who is working, and they are all a bit panicked. I call Bill at our son's house, and ask him what the password is........he thinks it's the same thing I gave them. Guess what....we were both wrong.
We had to change passwords when we switched alarm companies, and both of us remembered the old one, not the new one. Problem is it can only be 3-5 characters, and our old word was "cruise". Well, that doesn't work, so now we have to come up with something else. No wonder I have a headache! Guess we'll have to post it somewhere near the phone....hope the robber can't figure it out:D

Time to get something done around here. I've already been to the office and done some errands, so now have to get to work cleaning up around the house. Take care all and have a wonderful weekend.

Rita

Aren't you glad that the cops showed up so quickly though......nice to know that they will do that in case it's a real alarm sometime.

You've never been known to step on Paws K2......maybe some claws though.

We won't see Florida corn over here, BB. I guess we grow our own.....in the winter, it comes up from Mexico. It's all good though. I like water, so I'd be hanging out on the dock too.

Breeze ~ Yeah, I finally got my report done and have just finished my presentation. My teacher (she's in the process of getting her professor status) was pleasently surprised on what I covered in my paper based on my presentation. I stayed up until around 5:45am to get it all done ... cause at 2am I still only had half a page written (needed to be at least 8 pages, not including citation notes).
I actually almost missed class, I woke up to hubby calling to wake me up cause he figured that I wouldn't wake up on my own (even though I had the alarm set).

So yeah, I'll let you know how I did on the paper once we get grades from it (probably in the next week or so). So for now, I can rest, though sunday I"ll be studying for my final that takes place on monday ... then I'm FREE for the semester.

Oh yes! And I booked my first cruise with RCI! Going to Mexico this July ^_^

Shoot Am....I thought that you were a guy.....'till your husband woke you up. That more explains your funeral vacations:D

Where do you live, BTW

That was mean, San! What does funeral vacations have to do with women?????? Watch it there, mister. You are totally outnumbered around here. Even bOB doesn't help you any longer. Is he still around?

Good for you AM to have gotten the paper finished, given your report, and most importantly booked your first RCL cruise. It definitely has been a productive day for you.

K2 - I knew darn well that you lurked here. I think others do too. After all, we do such secretive things over here!:lol

Rita - Your dinner sounds yummy. I could go for a nice lobster right about now. Think you could have LS deliver one like they do from Pizza Hut? Glad you didn't get taken over the coals at the casino. Would you believe we've never been to the one in Tampa? Went once to the one in Ft. Lauderdale, but it was before they had Vegas style slots. We didn't like it at all. Never did get a chance to really pick your brain about the casino in Tampa last time you were here.

Just about time to get my fanny in gear. A friend will be picking me up to go to the Grill for a drink before heading for BINGO. This definitely is living in the fast lane!!!!

Well BB, it just seems like older women burn off their husbands, then go cruising with all their old biddy "girl" friends..... I think they go to funerals to celebrate their new found freedom.......could be wrong.....been wrong once before.

[size=medium]BB: Lurking keeps some on their "Toes"!

SAN: In this day and age you're making a BIG Assumption that the said "husband" is a male!! Hee Hee.

Rita: Great Alarm story. We have a alarm that goes to a central dispatch and they call our daughter and one other neighbor when it goes off. And the Sheriffs office. You get 2 freebe calls to the Sheriffs and then you pay $150 for false alarms!! That's the way it should be. Every Saturday we hear someone set off their alarm. Most likely when they go to let the dog outside or get the paper. Too funny.

BB: I don't lurk because I think you all are SECRETIVE. H*ll you all post the same stuff on a lot of other sites!! :girly Good luck with your flower pot plantings. Way too early for that here. It was 85 degrees here today so far, but that doesn't mean we can PLANT anything yet. Way too early.

Have a fun weekend all. Now is that "better SAN"??!

See what happens on here, AM?........you have to roll with the husband thing........hmm, that was a poor choice of words......but hey, you know what I mean.

K2 has a "husband", if you know what I mean.

Hello....another lurker the cat drug in...haven't been keeping up, as I've been busy at work. One day we're telling 500 teachers their contracts aren't renewed, the next day, we're told that everything is honky dory...go figure...one hand doesn't know what the other is doing...I'm sure BB knows exactly what it's like.

Glad to see everyone playing nice and even a new poster...the more the merrier...well, need to lurk elsewhere...plus I need to check my rollcall for my May cruise, since I'm the one keeping the cruise list.

bye

San ~ Haha! No no I'm not going alone on the vacation, it's for our 1 yr anniversary (as well as my birthday). Lol and I thought my cute wittle panda avatar gave away my gender :p
I'm in Utah actually, I'm just going to school here, my husband and I are from Seattle.

Breeze ~ Haha thank you! Hehe, but I think the most important for me is the paper and presentation done :p This class is needed for my major. I'm actually already signed up for online classes during the summer: Modern Middle East (core class) and a Creative Arts class that's a gen. ed. ... also signed up for fall classes already as well. In the fall I get to take Japanese again ... whooh!

Kathie ~ BWAHAHAHAHAHA You are quite right ... my husband could be a she and I could be a she. OR we could be REALLY screwed up and I'm really the guy calling my wife husband and she calls me wife ... you know, just to throw off the general public :p
Hehe but no, I am female and my husband is male ... though we still don't feel like we're married. Still feels like we're still boyfriend and girlfriend :lol

Hello Powder! :wave am I this new member posting around by chance? :p Nice to meet you ^_^

Morning everyone!

I sure had a lot to catch up on this morning around here. You all got very chatty after I left yesterday. And a discussion about what constitutes a husband or wife. Totally cracked me up!

PQ - I feel your pain with this time of the year. Glad most of the 1st & 2nd year teachers will still have a job. Once again, I am thankful to be out of that crazy rat race called MC school system!

AM - That's some load of courses you're taking! What's your major? I imagine it has something to do with middle eastern studies. Am I right?
Hehe but no, I am female and my husband is male ... though we still don't feel like we're married. Still feels like we're still boyfriend and girlfriend That's so sweet! If I thought back to the days of feeling like Bert is still my boy friend, I'd also have to think about all the training he'd have to go through to get him as well trained as he is today!! That takes years and years!!!!:)D The other gals on here will know what I mean. Of course San will come back with some snide remark. He's so predictable!!!!!:lolso

Rita - That alarm story was great! Back in Ocala, I used to get lots of visits from people in uniform. Unfortunately, most of the time it was the fire department!::eek: Stupid d*mn fire alarm would go off for no reason. It even went off in the middle of the night when Bert was at work and I was home alone. Alarm company never called me and just dispatched 3 fire trucks. Boy, was that fun!!! NOT

San - Bert's mother and her senior citizen friends used to go to all the funerals while we still lived in NJ. I always said that they all showed up to prove that they were still alive!

Time to see about getting some breakfast or at least another cup of coffee.
