.I was up to 535 lbs and 5' 7".......now I am down to 478 lbs and 5' 4" Wow! You should have been a contestant on the Biggest Loser, but I don't think they take shrinking height into consideration!:lol Keep up the good work and who knows ... You might eventually be able to audition for the part of Mimi Me, if they do another Austin Powers movie!!! LOL

We've been eating a lot of veggies these days. Right now I have a couple of ears of Florida corn cooking for lunch. Bert went to Lowes earlier today to pick up a Roma tomato plant to put in a pot on the deck. He already has some grape tomatoes plants growing, but the kids eat those as soon as they're ripe. They love grandpa's "matoes"!

Actually, they just put a tournequet [sp] around my throat and sinched it up......food intake doesn't go very far down before it comes out my nose, ears and mouth. But hey, I save on toilet paper.......gotta cut back wherever you can in this economy.

Nancy wants some tomatoe plants for the back yard.....I think we're going to plant them in big pots too.....less messy that way.

OK, your diet method is disgusting! And the visual .... ahhhhh!!!!!::eek:::eek:

I need someone driving to or from NJ to bring me a box/garbage bag of Jersey dirt. It is absolutely the BEST for growing tomatoes. Jersey tomatoes are known all over for their flavor. Unfortunately this time I have to settle on potting soil, as I don't know of anyone who can fulfill my request right now.: I agree that tomatoes grown in pots are a lot less messy. Only problem with ours will be that the pot will be inside of the screen enclosure, so pollinating will be a bit more difficult. I've already told Bert it will be his job to do the pollinating. Picture that anyway you want!!!!:)D

OK, it worked....I just weighed myself and I am now less than 200 lbs and back up to 6" 1".:)-D

Jersey tomatoes are not known all over for their flavor.....I've never heard of them. So, what does Bert do....allow the plants out for a little hanky panky on Saturday nights?

South bound US 101 is still closed in Soledad as the result of that bus crash........they are routing southbound traffic onto the northbound side.

The high school a quarter of a mile from our old house in San Jose is on lock down because of a swine flu case.....so, Angeline's school [Jr. High] is also locked down and will likely be closed for a while.

Hey BB, did you call Tony THE BIGGEST LOSER:D

Am, congrats on booking your cruise......might be the start of a lifetime habit......there are worse ones, though!

Yesterday it was 96, today it won't hit 60.....you gotta love New England.

See you all later.

Ha Ha, Rita! San as the biggest loser. Even I couldn't have said that better!!!! Sorry, dear brother, but that was too good to pass up!

Jersey tomatoes are known all over the east coast at least for their flavor, and that constitutes ALL OVER. Anywhere else doesn't count!!!:p

That stinks that Angeline's school might have to close for a while. No cases of swine flu here in Florida (yet), so we're keeping our fingers crossed.

That's some temperature difference you're getting Rita. Welcome to spring in the northeast!

Time to eat those blue crabs Bert bought. He surprised me with a couple of pounds of steamer clams too. Love those things! Better get a move on to fix them before the prez's news conference tonight.

Probably won't get back here tonight, so have a good one. See ya in the AM!

BB - Wish I had known about the Jersey dirt last week...The kids have made two round trips up to New York/New Jersey in the last week...They've been hauling horses back and forth...They could have brought you back some in the trailer. They are in Kentucky today, will be in Ocala tomorrow, they back up to Chicago tomorrow.

What a bunch of insensitive b@stards.....here I am struggling with weight gain and loss and baring my soul.....and you guys make fun of me:(

That's because the rest of the country doesn't want tomatoes or dirt from the east.......we see the east as pretty insignificant.

Come on, San - You know we pick on you only because we care about you. if we didn't, we wouldn't care if you melted away to nothing. Besides, with PH gone, we have to have something or someone to amuse ourselves with.:lol

PQ - Bummer! Could have used that dirt. Oh well, Miracle Grow potting soil will have to do for this year.
By the way, How's Gary's quest for a job going? Has he gotten anything yet? It's a rough market out there. Our daughter in Ocala has been out of work for almost a year and a half now with no prospects in sight. She's sent out about 100 resumes and has only been called in for 2 interviews. She was told she was over qualified for both jobs. Over qualified be d*mned ... She just needs a job!

We're off to spend money today! Our big screen TV is going bad. Bert stopped at the place we usually call in for repairs. He said that for what it would cost to fix, we're better off getting a new set. That's not what I wanted to do today, but oh well. Our old big screen set (18 years old!) in the bedroom died about 2 weeks ago. With all this TV trouble, do you think we watch TV too much????

Poor PH ... Her time away from us is almost over. It's packing day on the Monarch!

Yeah, the cruises are almost over for PH. I wonder how many cruise credits she now has.

Sunny day here....but supposed to get a little rain over the weekend.

PQ posted on another site that Gary is still waiting for a phone call on a job he interviewed for last week. We all have our fingers crossed.

That's a very long time for your daughter to be out of work. What field is she in?

Sure am tempted to book a Mariner R/T LAX to British Columbia......there are some very nice prices on the web site right now.

*pokes own chub* Yeah ... I need to loose some pounds too. When I move, TOTALLY doing that. My arms are crazy fat o.o

Thank you very much Rita ^_^ My two dream cruises are Antarctic and Asia ... I would love to win a trip for one of those (cause I can't afford those!)

Thanks guys for the good wishes...Gary is still waiting for a call, one way or another, from Santa Fe College. The position (electrician) is still under "review." Another position opened at the college for an assistant facility manager...so we'll apply for that one too.

BB - Marion/Ocala is such a hard place to find work...one of the highest unemployment rates in the state. I wish employers would take a chance on the "over-qualified" instead of settling for a person that needs training.

Good morning and welcome back to reality, PH:p The party's over and it's time to get the laundry done!

PH - I hope Gary hears something from Santa Fe soon. Waiting is the pits. Laurie was an assistant manager and then manager of an Enterprise Rent a car office for 8 years. They are known for their firings for no reason. She knew her head was going to be on the chopping block sooner or later. When she was pregnant and shortly after Addie was born, they couldn't do anything. First chance they got though, they terminated her at a time she wasn't expecting it. She also had worked for about 7-8 years for a pet shop on the Blvd. She has her associate's degree from CFCC in business administration, but it really isn't helping her.

BB: Work places are really taking "Advantage" of all that is going on in the Economy and thinning out employee's without any good reason right now. It's such ashame that they can get away with that stuff now. If it was just last year they most likely would have not done it for fear the Employee would "Sue" them. Now they get away with it. Hope she finds something soon. So many UNEMPLOYED you just wonder what's this USA coming to. So much for 8 years of the last administration!! Sorry I couldn't help but add that. Don't Flame me PLEASE.
Now go out and have a great day and WEEKEND. Hope you found your new TV.

Hi,

PQ- Hope Gary hears soon. I think it's awful that companies keep people wondering if they got the job. Causes all kinds of stress.

BB - Laurie's still unemployed? That's tough. Our DD Lisa just went back to work after being out almost a year, so maybe there are some good signs out there. Lisa works for a mortgage company, and they just had their best month ever, so someone's buying and selling.....lots of refis, too.

Tony, if we didn't love you we wouldn't pick on you......and I think you should book one of those Mariner PC cruises. Last thing I got had some JS's for 899.......two cruise credits......you could give PH a run for her money.....but I think she's probably around 50 credits.

AM - hope you get your wish and win one of those cruises......you are so right.....they are so expensive you would have to win the lottery!

PH - Party's over.....time to do the laundry!

K2 -nice to see you drop by.

Busy weekend for us.....two grandkids making their First Communion tomorrow. Luckily, (well, no luckily, as the girls arranged the times) one is at 10:30 and the other is at 1:00. Party for both is at 2:30, then Bill's bowling banquet is tomorrow night. I have to start packing for the cruise next week, so I'd better get off this board and get busy!

Have a great day.

Rita

TV shopping is another story. Let me start by saying that Bert NEVER buys extended warranties on anything. Well, he found out yesterday that that is not always a good thing. We would still have been under the 4 year coverage period and considering the part(s) that went bad, they would have allowed us $2400. towards another TV!!::eek: Instead we now have to make a choice of getting the broken set repaired ($800-1,000) or buying another set for between $2,000 and 3,000! Bert found a set he loved, but it costs $3,100 ON SALE! That's not going to happen ...
So now we wait for the TV repairman to even call us back. Bert has left a message twice now and he hasn't called back yet. Once again "Florida idiot" is coming to mind.

Also have to call the jewelry store back today. When I dropped my ring off there last Saturday, they told me it would be ready Tuesday or Wednesday and they would call me. So far no call and this is getting me worried. It should not be taking all that long to make the repair.

Plus in between all this, we have to finish getting ready for the garage sale tomorrow. Ahhhh ... I think it's a good day to start drinking early!!!:lol

I KNEW it all along!!! PQ is at work, Gary is home alone.....Dennis didn't go on the last cruise......so now we have PH and Gary together.

I was only kidding about being hurt, Rita, I was kidding about the weight gain.

I was thinking of the Mariner.......but we have way too much going on between now and the SR cruise. We're going to do another ATV / Camping trip to Mount Shasta over the Memorial Day weekend. I could have booked a D1 for $499 yesterday [with the C&A balcony discount]

K2, I think that you are absolutely correct about businesses taking advantage of workers in this recession.....some of the big companies are the worst....including Xerox. The only thing that was good about the last 8 years was 1/20/2009

Duh! I meant to type PQ and not PH, smart SSA! Must you always catch these little typos we mortals make as opposed to you who NEVER make mistakes? Jeez .... give me a break!

Rita - That's one busy weekend you are going to have. They get to pick the time they want to make First Communion? That's cool. We've already had more than one happening at the same time at two different churches. That's when it gets to be a real problem.

OK, so where the heck is PH? If Dennis is home today, we'll have to forgive her for not posting. After all, it's been 4 days since they saw each other!!!!:lol

Back to the garage sale crap!

Bite me, BB!!!!! I thought that you were making an announcement......not making typos. I make mistakes too.....but I just do it so you will think I'm mortal. You need to get some fiber!

That's one expensive TV.....how big is it? I just get the 42 inchers from Costco.....they're less than $900 now......same TV is $3 cheaper at Walmart.

Haha thanks Rita, I really hope so too!!

And I said I'd update you on on that paper I wrote last week. I finally got the grades back

*drumroll*

I got a 97 / 100 on my research paper (8 pages) on Cultural Tourism in Indonesia. Lol I wrote it in 3 hours, from 2am - 5am the day it was due ... ah fun. I did do the research ahead of time though

On my final exam I got a 95 / 100 ... which is really good considering it's all written (no multiple choice/truefalse). Two short answer essays and one long answer essay was what my final consisted of. I wrote about the Status of Women in India and about the term "Asian American" (how it can be problematic) for my short answer. Long answer I wrote about the poverty in Nepal and India (compare/contrast, why they are they way they are and possible solutions to fix).

Whew. Yes, I'm excited!
