Just heard on TV that they have ordered a mandatory evacuation of the keys as of tomorrow morning. Guess Dennis won't be going into that area next week. Waiting to hear the 5 o'clock update.

It will be a shame if anyone has to cancel due to the storm. The only ones in south Florida are Paco and Gary, right? Hopefully the storm will pass far enough south of them to not mess them up.

What Im worried about is the SS not getting back in the port on time..........but who knows what IKE will do.......we'll just keep watching and waiting.............

Been a nice day here..........sunny........

Dennis is supposed to be in the Keys Monday...........guess that wont happen............better not screw up him not coming next weekend......thats what I am afraid.....he'll have to stay behind and make up for the lost days....................darn...........I can only hope he'll get a lot of loads like hes delivering tomorrow..............just bringing pallets to the stores.....they use them to stock up the electronics so they stay high and dry..........and then after that,he usually delivers water loads............so people have plenty of drinking water...

That would really stink if Dennis couldn't come on the cruise. Who would Bert have to talk to?:lol I bet even if the storm has passed, we won't make it to CocoCay. They seas will probably still be too high. Looks like Nassau will get a direct hit. I hope they don't close that port to us. Then they couldn't open the casino!::eek:

In order to open the casino, US law requires that they hit a foreign port.

wow...........I didnt know that...........so how come boats like the Sterling could have gambling? Or like the EN who goes to Key West first.......how do they know they will make it to a foreign port???

How come?? how come?? hahahaha

Thought I would just poke my head in...while everyone is gone, I may have to post and talk to myself to keep the thread alive. At least here on CA, we're at the top. Hope nothing screws up your cruise next week...Hope San has a great flight and doesn't hit a little turbalence over the east coast.

Hi PQ! I hope things are settling in at work. It's going to be a long school year!

PH - I don't know how that works with ships like the Sterling or Sun Cruz. I guess they are able to get a special license from the state. The no casino thing has always been a problem with cruises in Hawaii. The ones that leave from Vancouver or Mexico are not a problem, but if you take a 7 nighter from Hawaii and it only cruises the islands, there's no casino. That's why they pulled the Pride of America or Pride of Hawaii. They couldn't fill the ship. I bet if San was around he could tell us what this law is called and why we have it. Personally, I think it's dumb. I still haven't figured out how they get around that law on cruises like we did on Navigator.

Time to see what's happening around the boards.

Morning.........

I think if we didnt get to any ports at all, they would still have the casino open................WANNA BET??? hahahahah Like you said, they did while we were on the NV............

Another sunny day.........poor Dennis is running all around Miami dropping offf pallets and now they are sending him to Key West to pick up a load(of electronics--so they dont get destroyed if Ike hits)..........hes working hard, thats for sure...........making up for not being able to go there on Monday ,as was planned.........they cancelled all loads there.............

Here's an idea - If the port of Nassau is closed, they could stop for a few minutes (ok - maybe an hour or so) and sit off CocoCay. Then they could say that due to high seas, we can't go there. CocoCay is a foreign island which would meet the requirement. I'm sure they would find some way to open those casinos. Of course, I don't think anyone would tell on them one way or the other!

Ok,I think I got it.............been thinking about it and wondering.....

I think the casinos will be open because all we need to be is in foreign waters.............thats why the casino was open on the NV and why the gambling boats can do it...........

Pride of America couldnt because they were only around Hawaii which is not foreign waters............

Now that's very possible. You would have thought that Pride of America would have sailed out the required number of miles, so they could have had a casino. I think there might be more to it than that , but hopefully, those slots will be all lit up and flashing at us. :D

Lasagna sounds yummy...had steak, baked potato and asparagus for dinner. Having a little red wine and watching the Gator Game.

BB did you sell your tickets? I would have thought for sure you'd have gone to the game.

Well, better pay attention to the game, Miami is on the move...

Just wanted y'all to know that I will try my best to keep the thread moving while you are enjoying the cruise.

Good morning! Time for a quick post. Missy went to pick up a friend with his 4 kids!::eek: Bert's already planning to let them clean out anything left in the closet or refrigerator. They're good at that, believe me.

PQ - Our daughter Laurie and her husband used our tickets to the game last night. He was raised in the Miami area, but is a Gator fan through and through. We sold our UF-LSU tickets and did quite well. We're getting tickets to see Avenue Q and Jersey Boys at Bob Carr, plus will still have enough left over to almost pay for another 3 or 4 day cruise! Guy that bought the tickets is from Louisiana, but I hope he's a Gator fan considering where the seats are located. I got the vibe that he is from the email he sent us.
Your dinner sounds yummy. Might have to make the same thing one night this week. The lasagna was a pan Missy made a few weeks ago that we froze. It worked out great and I didn't have a whole lot of work to do.

PH - Give Dennis a break! Poor guy has been working his SSA off down south and the first thing you do is put him to work. You are M-E-A-N, woman!!!:)D Does her have to make another run down there in the next couple of days?
