PH - Got the tires at Topline. Got tires there before for a good price and I know one of the guys that works inside.

Used to be a dog person when we had fenced yards and they stayed in the yard. Our 2 cats now are just fine because they take care of themselves and it's a lot easier to clean their litter box than to walk them outside and pick up after them.

I had an English Setter in the 60s that was an excellent quail dog and decent on pheasant.

I think we could all get into a heated debate whether or not cats or dogs are better pets............if we started I think it would be worse than a political debate on here!!:lol

We went to the shelter in Ocala to adopt a dog once. They wouldn't let us! Seems like because we had 3 1/2 acres and it wasn't fenced, we could not adopt a dog. Give me a break!!! The dog would have been walked and played with like Shamrock, but that wasn't good enough for the mutt I wanted. So I did the next best thing ... I went out and bought a lab who was very happy with the property. Too bad she turned out to be psycho and I had to find her another home before she dislocated my arm!! I've seem so many great labs and still love them to death. It was just a shame that the one we got had screwed up genes!

Just got home from dinner at K&G's. Now it's time to find something on TV and chill for the rest of the evening. See ya in the AM.

Was raining at home when I got there...good...just planted some tomatoes and peppers last weekend.

BB - when Brandy was young, she could drag anyone...my mom couldn't walk her. As she got a little older, she calmed down a lot. She still gets excited when people visit...but calms down pretty quickly. At least she doesn't jump on people...she just brings them a sock or shoe.

Shopped at Sears...had some good sales and kept me busy during my lunch hour.

Hope all have a great evening...talk to you later.

Hi all,

Unfortunately, we don't have pets anymore, but our favorite pets were dogs. Loved my Lhasa Apso, she thought she was a person, not a dog. Can have pets in our condo complex, but we're gone so often (not to mention the fact that we have white rugs from top to bottom in this place) we didn't feel it was fair. Both kids have dogs, (our daughter has a Lhasa) so we can get our canine fix when we go to their homes.

PQ - my sister had a dog named Brandy, and we had her sister, Mandy! I think your Brandy is much bigger than my sister's Lhasa!

Went to a trade show tonight, but didn't win any vacation prize. Did win a steel band CD, but one of the guys in our office won 2 nights in his choice of hotels, and another won 3 nights in Hawaii at the Outrigger. He'll have to pay his own air, so he doesn't think he'll use that one. I can console myself with the thought that we don't have to spend money on flights to get to Hawaii. I'm also convinced - NOT.

Time to chill a bit. Enjoy what's left of the evening.

Rita
Dry as a bone here [seeing as we're talking about dogs].

The Newfoundlands look like big lumbering dogs that would have little agility.....sorta like a big bellied beer drinking fat guy with too much hair.
Excuse me:cool: I resemble that remark - well except for the "fat" and "too much hair" parts.:D

Good morning! Another beautiful morning here, but once again the rains are due to move in later.

Rita - We also had a Lhaso named Candy. We bred her with a very handsome stud named Fonzie. She had 5 puppies. Bert's mother kept one and named her Brandy. That was all many years ago on NJ.
Sorry you didn't win one of the big prizes, but as PH said - The CD certainly will put you in a cruising mood!

PQ - We kept our lab for 1 1/2 years before giving her away. The man who got her had always had labs and was thrilled to have her. Last time Bert saw the man, he had had Belle for 3 years and guess what ... She was still psycho. Just one of those rare labs that never calmed down. Such a shame because other then being crazy, she was a sweet lovable dog.

Dinner last night was ok. You can't go too far wrong with Cosco hot wings and french fries. We didn't stay too late as the kids were getting wound up. Once the screeching starts, Bert's ready to go home!

We never made it out shopping yesterday and were planning to go today, but instead we have to stick close to the house. Emily went to school, but Kris said we may get a call to pick her up. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Marcia - Can't wait to hear the latest Aunt Willy adventure.

We took a trip to Sam's and picked up a few things we needed and some stuff we didn't need. I hate going there when I'm hungry!!! That's when I pick up junk ... pizza rolls & pancakes & sausage on a stick!::eek: I also did manage to buy two books to take on the cruise. I hardly ever find time to read much on a cruise, but I wanted to be prepared, just in case.

Still beautiful outside, so I think I'll head out on the deck and relax for a while.

Hey all, we are home..... Foggy until we got out of Hamilton and then started to clear up.... Then nice and beautiful sunshine the rest of the way up......

When we got there, Aunt Willy wanted me to look at the top of her head, Huh??? Seems last Friday, she was walking across the living room and went to turn abound and yep, you guessed it, she went down and hit her head on the corner of the TV..... Now, Aunt Willy has a 20 year old big ole TV in a solid wood cabinet..... So she put a 1 inch gash in the top of her head..... and most everyone knows how bad something like that bleeds.... Well, she picked her self up, started grabbing towels and thank goodness this friend of her called and then rushed right over and called the EMT's. By the time they got there, the bleeding was just about stopped, but they cleaned it up and sat with her for a bit to be sure she was O.K. It looks fine now, but of course you know where her Life Line button was, hanging on a kitchen cupboard. Of course.

Anyway, we sat and talked for a while and then told her we would go out and have lunch. Up the road we went and then I turned toward Indiana and she yells, you are going the wrong way.... We said no, we are going to Winchester, Indiana for lunch..... Wick's Pie's has a restaurant by the pie factory.... She kept asking if I knew where I was going and I said, Yep, I think so..... Any, after lunch and buying some pies to go home we then went to Silver Town.... They have all kind of gifts, jewelry and coins and Aunt Willy has collected coins since the early 40's when she started working at Cedar Point..... Did not get a whole lot, but had fun looking......
When we got back to her house, she said that was so much fun..... So glad we went.... Gas here is down to $3.05. Wow....

PH, that is what is nice about a Trans-Atlantic..... I read three paperback books on the cruise...... Most sitting on the balcony in the sun....

Back later.....

PH - I found one book that looks very interesting. It's about Rhett Butler and the things he did in his younger years before he met Scarlett, That should give me plenty to read, if things get quiet on the cruise.

That was some wild weather in central Florida today ... tornado warnings and severe t-storms. I'll be curious to see the news tonight. These storms went right over the Daytona Speedway. At one point they said some areas were hit with 100+ mph winds. You know there had to be plenty of damage in some areas.
It's pouring here right now. I just hope we don't lose the satellite signal on the TV. I want to see Weekend Update at 8:30 on NBC. And of course, ER is on tonight too!

Marcia - Boy, Aunt Willy is something else. Glad she got a call from a friend and that the EMTs took care of her cut. I bet she still won't wear the lifeline thingy though. Nice that you had a good lunch and did some shopping.

Time to see what else is on TV tonight and then decide how I'm spending the evening.

Marcia, do you ever slow down? Your unstopable!

Not much going on today. I have to sort bills....that should take me a few hours to get them filed into months for boxing away. We're terrible for not being organized. I think it's because I spent too much time doing everything else! lol

Bailee has her pedorthist appointment after school. She complained of knee pain yesterday so I'm thinking we're right on time for the orthotics.

It's Turkey Time this weekend. My parents are going to have the dinner at their house this year so that will be nice not to have to host it. I want to look online for a recipe for the yams....I saw one on a Safeway comercial with marshmellows on top....I've never had it that way....we usually just bake them.

Nav - Cjeck you email. I just sent you a recipe we use for yams/sweet potatoes all the time. Didn't want to post it here as we all know how much San likes things like that!:chef

Marcia - I hope you're having fun at work today. Just think - In a few hours you'll have the whole weekend to relax. Somehow I don't see that happening, knowing you and Carl.
