San you don't have to be afraid of me anymore, you know my bark is worse than my bite, sides, I got's all my shots!!;)

K2, hope the snow misses you all but at least it's good to know you won't starve if it doesn't.

Ph, hope Dennis made it home ok, sure hasn't been fun on him lately driving in all this nasty weather.
That smoked turkey sounded good. I have a turkey breast in the freezer I think I'm gonna fix this weekend.

Phone is still going nuts, so talk with you all later!

PH - He may have been on early, but he had nothing to say. Guess he's turning into the strong silent type!;)

Now, how weird is this? ... Before calling the TV repair guy, I fgured I'd put the TV on in case he wanted me to try something. Well, guess what ... The sound is back!!! I really think it's something in the Bose system. If it happens again, they're the first ones I'm going to call. In the meantime, I'm enjoying listening to Serius radio.:)

Bert just left. He's off to buy some curbing supplies in Orlando. Know what that means for me? Time to get a glass of wine and call Joanne for one of our marathon conversations!

I'll be back later.

Hi GANG!! Better Late than never!!

I was out and about running errands and getting everything done that I possibly could before I'd have to be trapped in this house because of the SNOW!!

It's snowing right now.. 8:32 pm... Suppose to keep up all night. South of Detroit towards the OHIO border it's really bad. Ice and snow and a mess. We're getting the edge of most of it right now.

FRIGGIN FREEZING OUTSIDE ALL DAY. The WIND is unbelieveable and makes it twice as cold. ENOUGH about all that.

SAN: Nice that you can go and help watch the house for the kids. I know they appreciate it. Have you picked out a house and LOT yet for yourselves?? =huh  Make sure to warn the kids first!!

PH: I thought it was horrible that Dennis had to wait for the water in the loading dock to go down before he could unload the truck. They should have a LAW that says those areas have to have sewers with pumps so if it rains too hard the water would be able to get pumped out. Like that would ever happen.

KC: I like the fact that you're spending your money on your car and tires etc. Save a little for that French Door! Are you getting the kind that slides side to side?? Saves a lot of space over the one that opens into a room.

FD.. HELLO..why don't you ever post anything when you're in here??

BB: How did the appt with the TAX MAN go?? Or do you just drop the stuff off and wait for his call-back?? We go tomorrow to get our taxes done. That is if the roads are plowed and we can get out.
Art started to do them and there were just a few too many questions about his retirement money etc that needed answers. I begged him to please let me call the TAX MAN and let us just pay to have them done this year. He finally gave in after I told him I KNEW HE COULD DO IT, but a little advise wouldn't hurt!! MEN..Geez!!

Off to get ready to watch Boston Legal. Love that show.

K2 - We'll go to the accountant on Friday morning. Yesterday was just my day to get the company books in order. Bert took care of all our personal stuff.
I think the kind of French doors KC is looking at are the type that open out. The ones that slide to the side are called sliding doors! Or door walls in Serbian!:D

Be careful if any of you up north have to drive anywhere. Negc - You still heading up to make a donation to the tribe?

We have a lot in mind, K2, but BB gave me some things to think about and consider before committing to buy down there. The lot in question is in a place where we can see neither J&A or A&A...and vice versa. We don't have to decide yet. We have a thing in California called Proposition 13 which controls how much your real estate taxes go up each year [1%]....so our house taxes are $1,400 per year, versus 9 or 10K. The old tax rate is transferrable to a new house as long as it costs less than what our current house would sell for. So that kind of determines where we will buy. Quality house without going over is the plan.

How come they call them French Doors? Do they surrender to the elements in bad weather?

Sliding doors>.......hahaha!I love it BB............we have French doors but they do open out or in(depends on how you want it set up).never heard of them sliding..........is that like pocket doors??

Nice deal on that tax break you get san......ours has gone up every year........we're at about $1600 right now I think.........

Enjoy that snow K2!

Yea, all taxes go up, huh? The problem is that our house prices are rediculous and almost unaffordable to many people, so the average house is $700,000 with a tax rate of 1.5% in Santa Clara County.....that's $10,500 per year for new buyers.

Our gasoline has gone up over 20 cents in the last week and a half. Two weeks ago they bottomed at $2.579 long after the rest of the country went down. We'll be up to $3 again pretty soon. SOBs!!!!!

Guess we all have the good and bad........gas here is about $2.19, I think............

Avg House price is probably about 250K.........

Gas prices VARY here from station to station and Mile Road to Mile Road! STUPID is what I call it. I got gas tonight at Costco for $2.16 a gal. The station up at the corner by our house wants $2.39 a gal.

WOW SAN......what a DEAL on taxes where you are. I can see why you might want to move. You won't get the same SOLID QUALITY in a new house as your old one if builders are anything like the ones around here. They cut back so much it's laughable. Good luck with any decisions. It's the "EXTRAs" that kill you when building a new house. You want AT LEAST EVERYTHING you have now plus some extras!! Like a ton of JETS in the wall in the Master SHower!! :D And a water regulator on every shower for sure!! Might still get that put in my shower one day.

KC: Miss you on here and the other board at night. Bet you're getting all kinds of things done during the evening hours. How's those Kitties doing since their surgery? Did anyone want to buy any of them at the SALE??

Nite all!

[size=small]Morning all & Happy Valentines Day! San, sounds like you have a lot to consider in deciding whether to make the move or not. I think I'd go with BB's advice & just stay put. At least until you guys are ready to downsize.

K2, the door will be the inswing French kind. I have the sliding Patio door now & it's a pain fighting with the vertical blinds everytime I want to go in or out. They DO make the sliding kind with the grids so they look like French doors.

Ph, I'm surprised you didn't get any rain yesterday, it sure looked like you were on the weather map. Supposed to get really COLD here again. Sheesh, you'd think it was winter or something!

Talking about property taxes, right now my homeowners insurance is MORE than my taxes! Course that will probably change next year, they came out last fall & measured the pool enclosure.

Good morning.

I will do my taxes in early April because I know I will owe something.

Those temperature regulating faucets in showers are the law here...have been for many years. Even if it's a remodel, you have to use them. I don't think that you can buy the old style anymore.

Yes, Kc, we're still thinking through this move decision.

Im with you San....we dont do our taxes early either for the same reason...........

In fact, we got a letter from the IRS recently saying we owed $550 for Heavy Highway use.....from 2004!!! Trying to prove we paid it but coming up empty. But we know we did or else Dennis wouldnt have been able to get his tag that year.........the IRS guy has been very nice and has waived any penalty and is giving us 2 months to pay it off...........still frustrating.......

That sucks, PH. It's so hard to prove that you have paid some of those things. Kinda scarey when you have to deal with some of the government agencies. Good luck.
