Good morning.

We went to Watsonville Tuesday night this week and returned last night.

I drove from Watsonville to Gilroy yesterday morning for the "dusty shoe walkthrough" on hte new house. They do it right before sheetrocking so that you can see where all the Telephone, TV and Electrical options are and that they are correct. House should be stuccoed, painted and sheetrocked by a week from tomorrow.

The Buick Enclave I ordered is on hold, so I ordered a GMC Acadia yesterday with the same options......then we get whichever one comes in first....the GMC invoice is a little higher than the Buick for some reason....but both vehicles have their own merits. This dealer is pretty good to us.....known them for over twenty years. They just give me the keys to any car so we get to test drive without a sales rep along. Don't have to pay any money up front either. So now we have two cars on order.

Landscaping for the front is done by the builder.....we are responsivle for the back, BB.

It isn't a matter of being in the same league or not for a $700 K house, Kc......it's just that that is what you have to pay in metropolitan areas of California if you wish to own. The salaries here are higher than the rest of the country.....but no where near comensurate with the cost of housing.......jut a bigger percent of peoples salaries go into home buying......sucks for young people....both have to have well paying jobs to buy.

Good luck with the doctor Ruttie. I'm hoping for the very best outcome for you. Hang in there.

Have fun with Lauren, PH...it's really nice when they come home for a while.

Angeline, Anthony and Trousers take off on Saturday for their trip up to British Columbia.....they'll be gone for 9 days....driving so T can go. He'll now be an International Traveller.

John and Matthew will be helping me take stuff to storage on Saturday.

K2, Counter tops come Saturday .....after I made a big scene on Tuesday....they wanted me to wait for another week!

PQ, trousers learned to swim really quickly when he was a pup as I kicked him off a boat dock........can't keep him out of the water now....takes a flying leap into pools or rivers whenever he sees them....he can empty a pool pretty quickly.

Good to hear from you SAN!!

Tell the kids to remember to take all of Trousers "updated" shots paperwork etc. They should just have Doggy Passports!! :)D

It still looks like RAIN here, but I'm sure it's waiting for me to get out the door before it starts. Always happens that way!!

You all have e-mail regarding Ruttie.

Nice to hear from you, San. Sounds like you've been keeping yourself busy between Watsonville, the new house and buying cars. Must be nice to be rich!!!!:lol
Your California house prices really are something else. I can't imagine how young people can afford to buy. It's the same way here, but on a lesser scale. In our area to get about a 2400 sq ft house, it will run at least $400,000 and up depending on community. Salaries here are nowhere near in your area, so many young couples can only rent (like Missy & Jimmy). A lot of those who did buy during the boom and got "creative financing" are now paying the piper. They're going from interest only loans to fixed rates that they can't afford. Foreclosures are skyrocketing.

I just did our online checkin for our cruise in 2 weeks. While I was at it, I checked my cruise history. Lo and behold, they were giving us credit for having done the Alaska trip 7/20 that we had originally booked. I had to call C&A to have it removed. I told the girl there that I don't remember doing the trip, but wanted to know, if I had a good time. I also asked her if they have our pictures from the trip, as I can't seem to find a single one! She was laughing so much, she was having trouble removing it from our cruise history!!!!:)D
Also realized that the EN trip will make us D+ too!!

Time to go find something tall and cool to drink.:)o

PH, unfortunately in San Jose, $700 K is usually a 3 bedroom, 1,200 square foot house needing modernizing and fixing up....not in the best of neighborhoods......it really is insane around here. We are protected with our real estate taxes as long as we sell this house first and buy a new one for atleast one dollar less.....you have to be over 55 to do it. Unfortunately, we have to pay capital gains taxes on anything we get over $500 [minus costs of improvements] at a rate of 23%.

K2, Trousers has all his shots and papers.....Anthony always does his homework pretty thoroughly. So, Trousers will be crossing the border with his head out the sunroof smiling and grinning at the Canadian Customs and immigration. Angeline has dual citizenship, so Trousers is kinda Canadian anyway.

San - I remember when Bert's aunt was selling her house in Burlingame about 15 years ago. She had a tiny 2 BR/2 bath on a small lot. A builder paid her $370,000 and immediately tore it down. He put up a million dollar monster right in the middle of all these little houses. It looked so out of place!
Boy, that capital gains tax at 23% is a bummer. Is that a California thing? You need to talk to Arnold about that!
I can just imagine what Trousers would look like crossing the boarder. And being he's "kinda Canadian" does he go "WOOF, eh"?:D

BB-why did you tell C and A???

I know I mentioned to them I only had 33 credits when they told me I had 36.......but they threw me off when they said it.....I looked at my history later and it appears i got credit for 2 of my free trips.......

Only reason I called C&A to get it removed is that sooner or later they would realize that the Alaska cruise booking # was the same as the last EN cruise booking #. I was being being honest!:angel Besides, they had to know something wasn't quite right. Otherwise, they would have already notified us that we were D+ after the May EN cruise.

15% Federal and 8% California, BB. George is way worse than Arnold!

The tearing down of older homes happens a lot in some neighborhoods.....the chances are that there are a lot more Million plus houses built in that neighborhood in Burlingame.

There is no history showing at all for us on the RCCL web site.....it disappeared a couple of days ago......it was wrong then.....they finally credited us with the May cruise but failed to increment up the cruise count. I think I will call them.

I'd a told C&A too, PH......don't want any funny business down the road. [or shipping channel]

Nice to know I "hang" with such HONEST people around here!! If it involved the government I think I'd have called and straightened the credits out, but it's just a cruise line and they already more than likely got WAY TOO much of your MONEY for the little bit of credit they gave you. Besides by the time you've traveled with RCCL as much as you guys have you're under their CREDIT SPELL already! Hee Hee....:girly

It really MUGGY and damp outside right now. Had to break down and shut the windows and turn the A/C on. It's NOT HOT.....just feels damp as all get out and hard to breath!!

Off to grab something for dinner. Art's gone BIKING and I'm ALONE again. First he goes and plays cards in the A.M. and now he's attempting to beat out the rain in the P.M. LIFE IS GOOD!! (tu)

Hello San, have to come over here to find you.... I know about the price of houses out there from Carl's son... and from my former class mate in Santa Cruz... Crazy. So Trousers is a dual doggie?

A few years ago, C & A had us down as only 2 cruises and we had seven. I had to get that one straightened out... Good thing that I'm a pack rat and had our boarding passes, etc. Had to make copies of the stuff and send it all in, so now they have us right...

Sure wish it would cool down.

back in 1990 my dad was getting transferred to sunnyvale?? or sunnydale??/ any way the way it works with goverment is they will "buy" you house at appraised value (if you wanta quick sale) then help you relocate and pay teh down payment and closing costs on a compararab;le house in new area well our house was a 4 bedroom 3 bath 2900 sqrfeet with a pool on 1/2 of an acre and 3 car garage well...... it was worth $145.00 and at the time that was great for this area of florida in teh 90's well they showed us a sampling of comparav;e houses in sunny whatever nd it was liek over amillion (back in teh 90's we were like whooooooow so then we said lose teh 3 car garage and less acerage and even lose a bathroom so we were looking at 3 or 4 bedroom 2 bath with a pool and it was still over a million or like 850-1million somewhere in there,, it was horrible becaseu it ws not liek he was going pot be getting THAT much moreof a rais it really opened my eyes to differemt housing markets and finiancial areas....

I think someone sent someone an E mail, that's why they returned.

Yep Ruttie, a house that big would be close to 2 million in Sunnyvale now....especially with the land. Best of luck with all the procedures.....I'll be thinking of you. I get the camera / snipper thing done tomorrow.

I don't have it in my heart to post much over there, Kc.....just tthree or so people over there that are important to me......the only one of them that doesn't come over here is Nav.....I'll probably see her next month though. I don't really fit in with most of them anymore. i like the posters over here.

Someone is coming to look at the house while we are gone.....an Agent....wants to see it before it goes on the market.....used to live in the neighborhood until a year ago....MIL lives a couple of streets over and they are friends with the people behind us. Not too excited about this 'cause she is an agent.....I'm sure she expects to get a big discount......she's got another think coming. [That's if she even likes it]

Good luck with the Freightliner, PH.

Art staying away because he's tired of the b*tchin' about the heat, K2?:D Offer to play strip poker.....he'll stick around.
