It's Tuesday, which means 2 things, Mark gets his procedure done. I wish him all the best K2, and hope it works. And #2, another billionaire and his entourage flies up to the edge of outer space. Imagine being in a rocket that has no pilot but is totally controlled by computers.

Yesterday here it was nothing but sun and blue skies. Well almost. At 30,000 feet smoke was going by from wildfires in Canada. Directly north of Minnesota. So instead of blue skies, it appeared as hazy with grey skies and causing the sun to look orange. But it's so high you can't smell the smoke. It'll be the same thing for today.

Remember this song? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVA1hbF-pz4 Yesterday Kathi, after dropping off some clothes at Goodwill, picked up a bottle of Watermelon wine. Now she's on a search for a wine that her brother had and she liked. Rhubarb wine.

WHAT "next" project do you need more 2 by 4's for, KC?

Great pictures K2. Damn that's a tall tomato plant.

Sorry to hear that you heart rate has shot up, Lee. Following your heart surgery did they ever give you any medications like "metoprolol" which is suppose to slow your heart rate? My A-Fib will often give me bouts of shortness of breath, for no reason. I'll be watching the TV and suddenly it happens. And after a few minutes usually goes away. But I was told to take another pill of it, if gasping lingers.

Beware Bert! A Jersey girl is now on a mission. HEAD TO THE BUNKER!

In a bit Kathi has to watch 2 granddaughters because their parents will be off to a doctor's visit for one of them.

Me? Maybe I'll hit the treadmill, depending upon how sore my legs are after I stretch and loosen up.

Good morning Wrabbits!

No updates yet on Mark.
He had the same EARLY 5:20 a.m. arrival for his back surgery just like I did. Early is good. You don’t get in the “backed-up” situation by being first!

BILL/RITA: How the heck are you two folks doing lately? Somehow I get the feeling you have “dumped” us. Ha ha. Tell me it’s NOT TRUE. Give us a few crumbs of information on what’s going on in your lives! Any thoughts of replacing Rita’s car? Or was it repairable? Anyway…..we miss you on here, stop by soon.

Dave: Those are some really strange WINES Kathi is collecting. I can’t see you getting into any of them. Nice that Kathi can help out with the Granddaughters. Better her than you! Ha ha.
You better get on that TREADMILL. DON’t want to end up in a wheelchair.
Hope the Nephew finds those shingles for the shed. I’m sure whatever he finds will work out just great. I bet the inside of the new shed smells so neat. I love the smell of new construction. When they were building our subdivision we would walk through the houses when they got the studs all put in place and guess what the rooms were. Always loved the smell. Amazing that was some 30 yrs ago. Wow where has the time gone!
I bet you can’t wait to fill the shed will garden type STUFF! Can’t wait to see pictures of it. HINT, HINT!

Karen: Nice that you have a day off from your volunteer construction job!
Is there a hot tub at your pool area that you could get into for your sore shoulder? If not, some good sunshine should help it. Take it easy today.
Hopefully, your sister will leave the new stairs and railing unpainted. One less job for you. How are your 2 guy friends doing lately? I can never remember their names. Is one GRANT?? I haven’t heard you mention them bringing over any sweet/goodies lately. Hope they’re okay.

BB: Don’t be too hard on Bert. You don’t want to tick off your BEST EVER GROCERY SHOPPER!

Lee: How you doing today? Hopefully, the heart flutters have calmed down.
Keep us updated. ( I take Eliquis for AFib.)
It’s going to be another HOT humid day. Yesterday we got to 91 over here.
Just like Dave mentioned the SUN was hazed over and then turned a bright ORANGE. That wild fire smoke made it all the way to our area. AMAZING.
We’re suppose to continue to get more smoke today.

I’ve been icing the knee while sitting here posting. Time to do another set of stretches. Can’t wait to find out if I can drive a CAR AGAIN when I go for a post-op appt n Thursday.
I’ve been saving big bucks on gas money! HaHa. Current gas prices are up and down around here. Krogers is $3.03 and the station up the road is $3.38 a gallon. Crazy rip off.

Be good all. Later.

Good morning!

Kathie - Great to hear that Mark's surgery is over and went well. Good idea being in the hospital over night.

Kathie & Dave - Sorry you're getting that smoke from the fires. That has happened to us a number of times, so I can relate. Amazing how something hundreds of miles away can be felt in your area. But think about how the sand storms in Africa can be carried across the ocean and can be seem in the sky here.

Karen - You definitely earned a day of rest. Now don't get tempted to get involved in another project right now.
And no, there was no crazy monkey sex! LOL

Lee - Your monkey picture totally cracked me up! I hope your A-Fib is behaving today

Our dinner last night at Mannie's really sucked! First of all, the one we went to has been sold. Everything inside and outside is the same. Only the name has been changed. Even a lot of the menu items are the same, but with higher prices. I had the toughest filet at a restaurant ever! We still have gift cards left from last year, but this place won't take them. Oh well, I guess from now on we're back to the Manny's in Haines City.

Forget about the new car idea. The one Bert was interested in was older than he thought, so we changed our minds.

I need to find someone who does the stone work I want to get an estimate to keep my case going.

Time to go find something for lunch and then decide what the rest of the day will hold. Have a wonderful day, gang. :)

Kathie, glad to hear that Mark's surgery went well...will keep the prayers going that this takes care of his pain....

Lee, hope all is ok with you today...not like you to miss morning check in...

Pat, bummer about your dinner out last night being such a disaster...so what finally convinced Bert to at least price out the stone for the house?

Dave, I do indeed remember your song selection of the day....can't say I'd be a big fan of either of Kathi's wine choices...but to each there own....hope you didn't slack off & skip the treadmill...those legs aren't going to get stronger on their on!
As for the 2x4 project I wanted to extend the handrail at the top left side of the stairs so my sister's would have something to steady themselves on before they get to the inside step handrails...but that project is on hold until I go to buy the material for the deck/table I will be building next...
I am going to take the next week off from building things....got a couple little odds & end projects at Jane's & Barb's I want to finish up before I start anything else...

Today was mostly puttering around here...trimmed a couple small plants in back for the yard waste pick up tomorrow...I'm going over in the morning to mow Jane's front yard & then after that will be the "official" pool opening with all 3 of us there...Jane is making pulled chicken sandwiches for us...
I need to fix a quick lunch & then head out to the grocery store in a little bit...enjoy the day all!

Great to know that all went well for Mark Kathie. Now comes the tough part...doing what he's supposed to do or not supposed to do while he recovers.
We had an "Air Quality" warning issued because of the smoke too.
We had an early start to the day. Pups to the Navy Yard for their walk and visit with people then back home to change into my Old Guy Contractor shirt to help build a fence. Why yes, I am nuts! I only lasted about three hours before the heat and strain on the ticker saw me pack it in.
After I got my meds yesterday and they kicked in my heart rate dropped from the mid 130's to 65 BPM. Today they were bouncing between the mid 70's and upper 90's. I so hate that I can't do what I used to do.
Dave, watermelon and rhubarb wine. Can't say I've ever had either. I do remember our Italian neighbour used to make dandelion wine. Fortunately I was just a kid and wasn't forced to drink it. Great tune by Tom T. this morning.
Now Karen, will there be a ceremonial ribbon cutting to open the pool?
Odd that Manny's would close on Irlo Bronson Pat. What is it called now?
Gotta go. You all be good and stay safe please!

Lee: We just got WIND and RAIN here for swimming pool tableabout 15 mins. Now it's back to a drizzle.

Thank you all for the GOOD WISHES for MARK. He's such a nice guy I hated to see him suffer. He's a silent sufferer type. Never complains.

Not sure what his recover will be. REST for 6-8 weeks and then physical therapy is usually the name of the game. Gotta let all those small nerves and blood vessels heal and re-join. It really is amazing what happens UNDER YOUR SKIN after a major surgery.
LEE I really think it's too soon for you to be messing around with building fences. Do you actually REMEMBER JUST HOW MUCH WORK they did on you? As I remember, and I could be wrong, they used DONOR veins to patch up your arteries right? If so you're lucky you don't have to worry about your legs healing along with the rest of you!

Do yourself a favor and back off from the MACHO MAN image and just behave. PLEASE! :emoticon 0100 smile:

We got lucky tonight and got things off the grill on the deck just in time before the RAIN HIT. Whew. At lease we didn't have to worry about watering all the plants out front or the grass. Haven't had to turn on the sprinkler system except to TEST it so far this year.

Karen: Have fun at the OFFICIAL POOL OPENING. I saw a picture somewhere online with a pool table right up to the edge of the pool. It had a nice vinyl table cloth tacked on it. And a lady swam up and got her drink! Very handy. Good place to put a portable radio or CD player!

Animated GIF
Easy on the drinks at the pool opening! It's harder to get up and down the ladders when you all are TiPPSY! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

PAT: Bummer on that place not taking the gift cards. But if they bought the other place out and changed the name I don't think they're obligated to accept them. After all they didn't sell them to begin with. Good thing you have another location to use them at. Better use them before they sell that place too.

Out of here for tonight!

Matching shingles have been found and are on. So the shed is all done now. Now we just have to wait a week for the weatherproof caulking to completely dry so we can paint it.

Happy to hear that Mark's surgery went well, K2. I'd bet he already is wanting to go home.

How cool to hear that there will be an "official" opening to that pool, KC. Hope the water temperature is to everyone's liking.

So much for a newer car BB. Now's the time to double your efforts to get that stone.

Are you pushing your luck Lee by getting back to building fences?

In just a bit we're off to the groomers. A new experience for Buddy. Since he's a short haired weaner-dog the only thing they do is bath him, take care of his nails, and clean his ears. No trimming for him. Fuzzbutt on the other hand gets the full beauty treatment.

A quick good morning before I head off to build...oh settle down...I'm off with Lu-Ann to walk the pups.
I did pack in my fence time early yesterday. With the heat and the bending it wasn't doing ME any good. Lu-Ann was happy that I was smart enough to call it early. And that's not easy for me.

Kathie, one of the arteries came from my wrist, another from my leg and the third from inside my chest while they were mucking about in there. We too had some rain and a few big boomers last night. It did take the humidity and smoke out of the air though. How's Mark feeling the day after?
It really is amazing what happens UNDER YOUR SKIN after a major surgery.
So I've heard... ;)
Well
Karen, I guess that my mind wasn't exactly connected to my head. Thanks for your concern. I am amazed how different a little manual labour (I was screwing brackets) is to time on the exercise equipment at rehab.
Suffering through terrible steak seems worthwhile when there's ice cream at the end of the road Pat.
OK, I best get a move on. Fences wait for no-one. More to the point, neither do dogs wanting a walk!
It means a lot that you all beat on me for trying to work on Jim and Gail's fence yesterday. Thank You.
You all stay safe today. I PROMISE that I won't be lifting, cutting, hauling, screwing or gluing anything any time soon.

Wednesday Hump Day GIF by Chippy the Dog

Good Morning fellow Wrabbits! Our first CHILLY morning in a long time. 63F. Feels like FALL.

DAVE: Good for the Nephew finding the matching shingles and getting them put on already.

If I was a "Doggie" I'd like to live in your house. So nice that they get to go to the DOG SPA on a regular schedule. And unless they have a "live cam" in the place you won't know just how Buddy reacted to the BATH! I bet he does just fine.

Karen:
I have to agree with you about LEE putting his construction T-Shirt back on again. I saw the pictures on Facebook of the group standing around a fence pole. Not sure if he was just supervising or not. But I have a feeling since Lu-Ann took the picture (I think she did) that he wasn't doing too much LABOR work! He better not be. I ask permission to post the pictures on here, so you'll just have to imagine Lee standing looking innocent! Ha Ha
Have fun at the pool opening!
Floating Stop Motion GIF by Mighty Oak

Lee: So just how hard were you working out there yesterday. I think you could have had a chair handy and just sat and watched! But heck that's no fun is it!! :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:
I bet this mornings walk with the pups was a welcome relief from the heat and humidity we've been having.

I see that Lee posted while I was taking my time typing away. Good to know you're not busting your butt on the fence. But can we really believe that? Ha Ha You best behave yourself buddy!

Last night I had our bedroom window wide open and about 2:00 A.M. I was awakened by the INTENCE smell of a skunk! Man was it strong. Had to shut the window and turn the ceiling fan on. YUK.

I've been watching the Ladies Soccer game LIVE at the Olympics. Canada vs Japan. It was tied when I last left them. Now the USA is playing. It takes SO LONG for either team to score a point. Back and Forth, etc, etc.

PAT: No stonework, No new car sounds like NO Monkey Sex to me. Ha Ha. That video is still stuck in my head. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile: Hope you get all your cooking done early and can just chill before the gang shows up for dinner. Has Bert walked through M&J's new house yet? Another week and they'll be moving in! Enjoy your peace and quiet while you can. Did you check your STOCK of WINE lately. Might need a trip to one of the wineries for some refills. Hate to see you run low during the Moochers stay! LOL

Wine Rose GIF by HelloGiggles

Would love to have Art drive me to this one small shop that has all kinds of things for decorating your house. The lady actually refinishes furniture. And also sells the products she uses in case you want to do it yourself. We painted a drum end table for our great room and it turned out fantastic. I wanted her to do it and she said: "I really think you can handle this job with a small can of this paint". And sure enough Art followed her instructions and it turned out great.
Her husband has a shop about 3 stores away from hers and does shower doors, mirrors and anything to do with glass. We've worked with him since we built our 1st house. He put in our new shower door units when we had the bathrooms remodeled. Fantastic workmanship.

Anyways, I saw on her Website a picture grouping that I would love to have over our couch. The grouping I saw on the website is 3 separate pics suspended between glass. It's like a floating pic of 3 different kind of leaves! Hard to explain. I liked it because it was simple and different. The current picture could be moved to above the 2-seater couch on the opposite wall.
It takes me forever to find things that I really like for any room in this house. So, I'd really like to see these in person. Just hope they are still there.

OKay, I'm out of here for now. Have a fun day all.

Good morning! You sure had plenty to say since I got off here last evening. Sounds like everyone has their day's activities all planned. We have to make a quick and cheap run to Sam's. They have these big bags of salad for less than $2. What a bargain and if some goes to waste, you don't feel bad about it. I want to fix an antipasto salad to go with dinner tonight. I also need to pick up Cuban bread, as there's no such thing as crusty Italian bread around here. I'll do it with garlic butter on top and stick it in the over for a few minutes to crisp it up. Then I just have to cook ziti and heat up the gravy to make 2 pans of baked ziti. Dessert will be a surprise to them - creme brulee. Don't get too excited about it though. While I can and have made it in the past, this time I'm taking the easy way out. We bought a box of them frozen at Restaurant Depot. I just need to put the sugar on top and torch it to make it nice and crisp. First time we've tried this, so wish me well.

Lee - You better be behaving yourself. I'm surprised the other guys didn't insist that you just sit down and supervise the fence building operation.

Kathie - A bit chilly up your way this morning. Summer is only a month old, but already you are getting a taste of things to come. I just mentioned to Bert last night that you can already see the days getting shorter. Thank goodness our temps are still where they should be. A skunk!!! It's been a while since we smelled one of them, thank goodness. Up in NJ they were all over and let you know they were there quite often. Here that's pretty rare and, believe me, I'm not complaining. That sounds like a neat shop to visit for special stuff. I love to wander around shops like that and I really like Home Goods to find special treasures.

Dave - Great that the nephew was able to get the matching shingles for the roof. I'm sure once the shed gets painted, you can take that off the list.

Karen - Do enjoy the ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the pool. Will you have a marching band there too? That usually goes with a ribbon cutting ceremony, doesn't it? LOL

It's going to be a hot one here today, so we're going to get ready and head for Sam's now before it gets too hot. Definitely planning to spend some time on the lanai this afternoon reading before I have to assemble this gourmet Italian dinner. Only one thing is missing - A nice bottle of wine from Italy! Guess we'll just go with a bottle of Copper Ridge, which is the house wine at Tarantino's. Works for me!!
Have a terrific day, everyone, and stay safe with all that running around that's planned for today! :)

And after months of the border being closed and Canada opening up on August 9 for fully vaccinated folks from the other side of the river The US has just extended the closure into the US from Canada until August 21.

Did all our running around before noon today. That's very unusual when it comes to Bert going somewhere that early. Good part was that we hit Sam's, got what we needed, and came home for lunch. Now it's "ME" time on the lanai!

Lee - Uh Oh! I see you getting company from across the river the first day that the border is open. You-know-who has been itching to see your house and your town. I really don't blame her, as I think you have teased all of us with pictures and stories about your home town.

Might not make it back here again today. Once I come back in from the lanai, it will be time to fix dinner. Then by the time they leave, I will be so beat and will just go veg on the couch. So have a great evening, everyone, and I'll catch up with you all tomorrow. :)

Lee: That’s just crazy that Canada opens up their border and USA delays their opening of the border. Art said the businesses close to the border crossings are TICKED BIG TIME. OUR NUMBERs are going up again. Darn people just don’t get it.
How did you do today with your AFib?

Karen: How was pool time?
I saw a high top pool table made out of WOOD PALLETS when I did a google search. I also saw a hook on tray you can buy.
Hope you all had a good time in the pool. Were the sisters able to get in snd out

Mark sent us a picture of him and Ashley walking in front of their house. He looked good. I guess Doc wants him moving around SLOWLY. Good for the healing. Different strokes for different surgeries.

Out of here for now.

The frustrating part Kathie is that we kept hearing how the US border cities were petitioning the Canadian government to open the border. Who are they going to blame now?
Heart has been pretty good today. Nice that Mark is up and about already. When I was a kid, my Dad’s back “rehab” was staying in bed with a board under the mattress!
Pat, any or all of you are welcome here anytime! You just may not be able to drive back home.
Yes Karen. How was the grand opening?
Lu-Ann has a follow up test tomorrow at 9:30, nothing serious, so we’ll see you later in the day.
Be safe friends.
