Kathie - We know exactly what is in the freezers and exactly which shelf it is on. You all know how anal my husband is. We inventoried each and every drop of food in the freezers and keeps updating the list. He also notes how many of each item we have. I never have a problem with freezer burn on chicken. We pack the huge breasts from Sam's individually in freezer zip lock bags and then place the lot of them in a gallon freezer zip lock bag. I can't remember the last time I found anything in there with freezer burn. And this conversation just reminded me that we need to get out some steaks for tomorrow night to make on the grill. That's an easy one for me. I just have to prep the potatoes to go in the oven and cut up and make the peppers, onions and mushrooms to go on the steak when it is finished cooking. Bert can make the salad and then grill the steaks.

Would have liked to see what you found about boiled peanuts. I think we pretty well know all about them, but heck, we're always open to finding a new way to make them, if it exists.

The kids go back to school a week from today. Yay!! We won't have to pick them up in the afternoon (thank goodness), as they will be going directly to karate and dance classes and riding their van back to the place. They went there for a while 2 years ago and really loved the place.

Dryer is calling me.

Pat now that you mentioned it I remember you saying Bert keeps a inventory of feeezer food. I wish I could motivate myself to do that!
The Peanut info was from ”Cooking with Brenda Gantt“. She said when she gets a huge amount of boiled peanuts she cools them down and then puts then in a gallon plastic container and fills it with water to cover and seals the container with a top and the peanuts stay for a long time. She got some from a friend. And showed how she put them in a big pot to unthaw and heat up and then she drained them and they’re ready to eat.
I know you folks usually eat all your peanut boil, but thought you might want to do some frozen to have for a treat when you can’t get fresh raw peanuts.
Not sure how much room you have in your freezer. Do you have a separate chest or stand up freezer?
Anyways….that’s what I was trying to pass on to you.
I love listening to Brenda Gantt‘s accent! Very Southern.

Karen how did you do today at the Doctor’s appt?

Belleview here....bringing up the rear on check in....lol...

kathie, Dr. appt. was yesterday...and it went well...No spots to remove...although she did try to zap a spot on my arm...once she showed me where it was I said No, that's a scar from a sore I had...she asked if I was sure & I said positive....she did the same thing the last time I was there & after I got the EOB from insurance I knew why...they bill that little blast of nitrous oxide or whatever they freee with as surgery...$100 bucks a spot....
Glad the door repairman showed up on time & took care of the problem...I may give that pledge tip a try with my door...

Dave, nothing at all wrong with taking a day off from the painting project...if I were you I probably would have skipped painting this morning as well...I hate working on a project with only a limited time to work on it...takes longer to set up & then clean up than you get to paint!

Pat, I keep a food inventory for my small indoor freezer..it's mostly food that my sister's have cooked for me or leftovers from meals I've cooked...helps when I can decide what I want for dinner...the bigger chest freezer in the garage is my own personal treasure hunt though..

Lee, you & LuAnn have had the worst luck lately with Dr. appointments...but I guess having the test postponed is better than getting hit with an unexpected bill!!

The new lawn crew is here today...they were supposed to come yesterday but with all the rain we've had it just didn't happen...they seem to be doing a pretty good job...I'm sure it will take them a little while to get a routine down...

My Walmart order finally showed up yesterday afternoon...it was the new box spring I had ordered...it was called an easy assemble box spring...and for once they were right...no tools required! Today I took the bed apart & cleaned underneath before I put the new box spring on...my goodness was it full of Cat Hair!! Also got a new rug for the bedroom...it's pretty...but I really should have bought a larger size...it doesn't come out from under the bed quite as much as it should...oh well...it's down now... next step is waiting on my new mattress...it's still show next Sat. for delivery...Can't wait!!
Barb came over for a little bit this afternoon...she had made some roast pork with a roasted red pepper sauce...she brought leftovers for Jane & I...works for me...

I was wondering about your package Karen. I guess you can’t complain too much. That order covered a lot of distance for the same fee. ;) Nice it all went together the way it was advertised!
Good on you for calling out the doc on the same spot on your arm again.
Well now Kathie, Pledge as a lubricant? What a neat tip! WD40 (it’s twice as good as WD20 :p) often gums things up more than it lubricates some things.
Hats off to you and Bert for being so organized with your freezer! We don’t keep a lot in the freezer and often pull something out that needs to go in the bin! Seldom is it meat or fish as we tend to buy that fresh as we need it. Nice of Jimmy to foot the pizza bill. Those steaks and fixin’s sure sound good too.
Gonna head off to the kitchen to get dinner going. I can’t help but think how much Tony would protest all this food and recipe talk. Or so he would have us believe…
Have a good night everyone.

Lee: You made me laugh. I just knew I got that WD20-WD40 thing wrong. Ha Ha.
Lee: Remember when I got all ready for my knee surgery and it was postponed because of a CODING ERROR. There was no way I was going to go through with that and get nailed for that surgery. Not fun to wait, but a lot cheaper than having to pay the bill.

Karen: The door fixer guy said to try and keep the Pledge from getting onto the "fuzzy seal strip" on the doors. He put it up in the track area. And on the bottom screen track.
I hope you can figure out what I'm talking about.

Karen those Dermatologists make money like no tomorrow. I still remember when Art was getting something removed and I wanted the Doc to look at something on my thumb. The TECH said she would have to get my insurance numbers and have me fill papers out JUST TO LOOK AT IT. I didn't ask to have it burnt off! I passed big time. I bought a wart remover kit at CVS and did it myself. $7.99 +tax! Ha Ha.

Tony loved to poke at us and make like he was "put out" by all our cooking and recipe talk, but I really don't think it bugged him that much. Sure miss that guy. It's like he's on one of his LONG BREAKS.........wish he'd come back! :emoticon 0106 crying:

Off to watch the last episode of "Manifest". They are in the negotiation stages as to whether it will come back with a Season 4. It's a far fetched series, but enough to be interesting and entertaining.

Nite all...........

Kathie - When we do the boiled peanuts, we put them in 1 quart zip lock bags. to go in the freezer. That way Bert can take out as much as he wants. Gary and Jimmy do the same thing, so we can all have them frozen for whenever we want them. They also put in some of the water they were cooked in to keep the flavor. Remember we have a good old SIL who has been doing this his whole life! If we take out a quart zip lock bag and heat it up, all the peanuts will be gone within an hour!!

Karen - Glad you finally got your Walmart order. I had ordered bamboo sheets online and they arrived yesterday. Can't wait to put them on the bed to see if they keep me cool and are as good as they say they are. Nice that you got a care package from Barb for you and Jane to have for dinner.

Gary came over this afternoon and hooked up Bert's 2 new computers. It sure is nice to have geeks in the family! All it cost us was a couple of slices of leftover pizza and a banana in addition to the cost of the parts to build these computers!

Had about a 2 hour conversation with Joanne this afternoon. We don't get to do that very often these days. Got to discuss out governor and she feels the same way we all do, even though she is basically a repub. She can't believe what is going on here in Florida while telling me how great their democratic governor is taking care of their state.

Time to go outside for a bit before it's time to head for the Grille for dinner. Have a great evening, gang!

Oops! I wrote this post a couple of hours ago, but never posted it. Time now to shut this toy down and enjoy the rest of the night. See you all tomorrow!:sleep002::sleep::)

Good Friday morning, Bunnies.

I sure enjoyed reading all your posts yesterday.

Running a bit tired and weak this morning, with not much energy. Kathi has said that she'd do a bit of painting as long as I just joined her out there. I may take her up on that. I always have a chair in the shed which I use a lot while painting.

And I'm in charge of cleaning all the brushes when we are done. It would be horrible if they ever went back to mostly oil based paints.

Had to make a phone call to my Virginia daughter last night. A bit ago she let me know that she and her hubby would be coming to Ohio at the end of the month to visit me and other relatives. BUT, she and her hubby have become anti-vaxers.

So, in my current weakened condition I had to tell her that I would be uncomfortable getting together with them. Plus there's a big jump in infections of this Delta variance. And by the end of the month infections are suppose to be 3 times what they are now.

Thank goodness she understood my hesitancy to spend time with them. And maybe getting a "breakthrough" infection. (They are still not planning on getting vaccinated, though.) So the phone call went well. And I told her to call me when they are in town and let me know what they are doing. Sucks not seeing her.......But I'm not taking any chances.

Back to being a hermit.

Good morning! Good morning! Good Morning! Spoken in my best Captain Johnny imitation! :emoticon 0136 giggle: Looks like a lot of people sleeping in around here this morning.

Dave - Good move requesting that your daughter stay away and that she is good with it, in spite of the fact that you were both looking forward to it. By keeping safe right now that leaves a chance to visit down the road once this virus is fully controlled. Sorry you're running on a half empty tank this morning. What the heck were you doing up that early? You should have just rolled over and gone back to sleep.

I've got to make a list of the rest of the things we need for dinner tonight and then send Bert to Publix. This will not be a break the bank order by any means, so he can't complain and none of it will go in the freezer.

Other than that, there's not much going on around here today. I do have to tell you a funny story ... We went to the Grille for dinner, as planned. When we got home, M&J were not here with the kids, but did come in about an hour later. I figured they had gone out to eat, so I asked them where did they go? Their answer - the Grille!! Apparently we went out one way and they came in at the same time but from a different direction. We just missed each other! Bert & I, as well as Missy got the snapper special which was delicious, but had only 1 thing wrong - - The assistant chef forgot to take the scales off the fish! What a putz!!! You would have liked to, Dave, as it was a very spicy recipe right up your alley.

Time to write that list for Bert, so I'm going to scoot out of here, but first I'm going to try to post a picture of the roses I got from Jimmy's cousin. I hope this works!

Good mornin’ Bunnies!
Dave, a tough but good call missing out on seeing your daughter. So nice that she understood your point of view. I have a couple of paint brushes that I clean faithfully every time I use them. When we moved someone by the name of Lu-Ann, who shall go unnamed, wondered why I would pack and move some of my paint supplies like the brushes. I always buy good quality brushes because they payoff in the long run.
Well Pat, we did have a good evening. As I hope you and Bert did at the grille. I have a couple of bamboo fabric golf shirts. (No Dave, I don’t get slivers) They are durable, get softer with each washing and do tend to wick moisture away keeping me feeling cooler. Which on a day like this with it feeling like 95F is a good thing. I can’t help but think of those new fangled refrigerators and freezers that inventory everything and generate shopping lists when you mention Bert keeping such good records for your frozen foods. At least Joanne sounds reasonable when it comes to complimenting a Governor from “the other team” when they are doing a good job.

Just missed you Momma Bunny. Cute story about The Grille. Nice flowers too!

Sadly Kathie you have to be your own medical advocate these days. We are finding that out more and more. I spoke with the nurse practitioner yesterday and told her Vanessa’s concern with my heart rate. She didn’t want to step on anybody’s toes (cardiologist #1) and comment until she could requisition my post surgery test results. ARGH!!! That’s a pretty confined area to have to spray with the Pledge and miss the ”fuzzy seal strip” on the door.
the bigger chest freezer in the garage is my own personal treasure hunt though..
I loved the way you put that Karen. We have two refrigerators both with freezers. The main fridge has a lower freezer which, with the baskets and dividers is pretty easy to organize. The downstairs freezer is a single compartment upper that we use for boxed goods (burgers, chicken wings etc and bread when it’s on sale at a really good price.
Best get my butt back in motion. Dogs have been walked, breakfast had, van vacuumed (I took it through the wash yesterday) and a couple of other things that escape me…
You all have a good, safe day out there.

LET IT RIP LADIES!! Ha Ha. IT'S FRIDAY!

DAVE: Good for you to get outside and sit and supervise Kathi painting. Ha Ha. The fresh air does us all some good.
And Bummer on your daughter & SIL being NON-VACCer's. Just don't understand the logic of some people, but it's their choice. Leaving themselves wide open to getting the Covid or Delta. Are they driving here or flying .... if they even make the trip at all? I hope they are at least into wearing MASKS on the PLANE! Hate to read about them getting thrown off for not
compiling. Some of those videos I see online with people drunk and not wanting to put on their masks and being dragged off the plane or taped into their seats are just unbelievable.
I think they should do a BREATH-A-LISER test on everyone before boarding a plane and NOT SELL BOOZE on the plane to begin with. But it's a MONEY MAKER and we all know that won't stop happening any time soon.

PAT: I just saw you popped on and off. Nice roses for sure.
You might think about putting up a CHALK BOARD or get yourself a stack of 3-M Sticky NOTES to leave messages to the M&J folks. Always nice to know where folks are! I couldn't live without my STICKY NOTE PADS. Just a quick note to Art when he's not home and I'm going out in the car. "OUT & ABOUT be back soon"! He can always look up on his iPhone app where I'm at on the "FIND FRIENDS" app. We downloaded that after he fell off his bike in the middle of the woods one year and knocked himself out. One of the few times he was alone biking on the trails. I have Jill, Mark & Eric on my FIND FRIENDS app too. Ashley won't sign up because she thinks of it as STALKING! Ha Ha. I kind of don't blame her. Ha Ha.

I sat out on the deck for hours this morning having my coffee and english muffin and watching the birds. I saw a Cardinal, Oriole, Sparrows, Hummingbird and when watering my deck plants and the ones below the deck I saw our RESIDENT BABY BUNNY fly out from under the Black-Eyed Susan plant. Does it every time I water. And YES, it's grown from about 4 inches to 6 within days. :emoticon 0108 speechless: So peaceful out on the deck in the morning.
Had to come inside because the heat and humidity was starting to move in on me.

Hope you all have a good day and enjoy your FRIDAY.
We need to make a quick stop to pick up 4 items at Costco. Yup, and I'll tell you now I don't plan on buying anymore. Dawn Dishsoap, Blueberries, Aleve, Aunt Mid's dbl loaf wheat bread. If Art comes in with me he might buy a case of beer! And yes, I can just buy what's on the list and pass on spending a lot of time walking around. I lean on the shopping cart to avoid over doing it with my knee. I'm not in any rush to have a knee replacement done because I wasn't careful. :emoticon 0100 smile: This is a neat video of how they replace your KNEE! WOW. Chip off the old stuff and put in the knew. Amazing. WATCH IT!

Pat.... Nice Roses.......forgot to mention that earlier.

LEE: Just missed you while I was going on and on as usual.
We share the same type of FREEZER COMPARTMENTS. Today I am going to go downstairs in the basement with a PEN and PAPER and write down what is in the freezer down there. It'll save me guessing. It's a GOOD thing to do once the HEAT hits around 90+!

ABOUT that PLEDGE SPRAYING ALL OVER...... You can spray it on your fingers and drag along the top rail and then do the same for the bottom rail. Spraying on a rag just wouldn't get enough on the tracks if you ask me. The service guy just sprayed a glob upward on the track and ran his finger across the foam. There wasn't any "Fuzzy Seal" up there. Only on the one side panel. But I know you would FIGURE THIS OUT ON YOUR OWN! Ha Ha. You're just like TONY when it comes to picking out details. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

I still would love to chat with you about your blood pressure numbers. My best numbers are usually: 128/72 and if they are HIGH they run 138/75 . So I just don't understand why your

" 127 " is high to you. Is that in Canadian? The only thing I would wonder about is why it isn't going UP much HIGHER when you are exercising. I always thought your heart rate rises and peaks to work the heart muscle when you're exercising. And then you do a COOL DOWN to bring it back down. You have me confused, but it doesn't take much to do that to me lately! DUH.

Karen...........hope the rain has stopped and you are getting good POOL TIME. Hope you get the weekend off and no projects.

Kathie - Lee is talking about his HEART RATE and not his blood pressure. That heart rate is way too high. My heart rate usually runs around 60 when I am relaxed or doing nothing. It's a bit higher if I'm moving around, but nothing like what Lee is experiencing.

For Karen, here’s where Mike and Micky will be in FL in October for the Monkees Farewell Tour 55 years after Monkeemania was all the rage…

10 Orlando, FL Hard Rock Live
12 Fort Lauderdale, FL Parker Playhouse
13 Clearwater, FL Ruth Eckerd Hal

Thank you Pat. Yes, Kathie that 127 was my heart rate! My BP is all good. On Tuesday my heart rate was 127 before during and after my (cardio) rehab session. Today for example it was 127 walking, 111 during my indoor cycling and 61 now at rest. Do you use lemon Pledge so your finger and door rails smell nice? :emoticon 0140 rofl:

It's Saturday already.

Really nice picture of your posies, BB. Just missing M&J and the kids at the Grille is what gets the neighbors to talking. Part of the family comes in the front door while the other part of the family sneaks out the back door.

You are so right Lee on why it's better to buy quality brushes, or other tools for that matter. Any new word on the cause of you higher heart rate? I think it would be cool to see that Monkees Farewell Tour. Even though we haven't heard some of their songs for decades, we'd still remember them.

K2; I have no idea if my Virginia daughter and her hubby will be flying or driving to Ohio. If flying, they'll get booted off the plane if they refuse to wear a mask. But based upon their frequent flights I'd guess that they just follow the rules. I too write a lot of notes. Mostly to myself to remind me of things I need to do. As far as leaning on shopping carts, people would be surprised to find out how many of us use them as a walker. Interesting video of a knee replacement.

How ya doing KC?

Another day of a short period of painting. Everything is needing 2 coats. Kathi does most of the large areas getting covered. While lucky me, I get the detail painting. (Actually I'm better at it.) Free-handing with artist brushes to get straight and clear lines where one color butts up against another color. (Do NOT drink a whole lot of coffee before you detail paint.

Good morning, gang! I figured I better get a post in now because with most people home today, there's sure to be a lot of activity in this house.

Kathy - Saw the video of Art digging up the potatoes. They looked pretty good. We grew some once in Ocala and it was fun digging them up to see what our "treasure" looked like, We also tried to grow sweet potatoes, but the resident bunnies in the area ate the plant as soon as they showed a bit of green. They did the same thing with the peanut plants we tried to grow. $%@&# rabbits!!!

Dave - You definitely are doing this painting job the right way by going slowly. Isn't it nice to be retired?

What had I just said about lots of activity in this house? Well, it has started already. The kids are all hyped up over going to the pool in a little while now that Jimmy is here. They knew better than to ask Bert or I to take them. We just fed them all week during the day! I'm glad we get to escape tonight to have dinner with G&E to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Dinner will be at Tarantino's and is our treat. Haven't made up my mind yet as to what I'm getting for dinner. They have so many choices that I like.

All the schools here start this coming week. Nate and Jen's school starts Thursday, so we will only have the kids on Wednesday. Missy is home the beginning of the week and then the kids will be going to Karate and dance class after school. Great deal for us, as we won't have to stick close to home. We can do Bert's favorite thing - go shopping!!!

Instead of just rambling here right now, I'm going to get off and see if anyone wants some breakfast. I'll be back later sometime. Have a super fantastic day, everyone! :)

Good Mid-Morning Wrabbits. (and this one is NOT flying out from the plants in the yard) :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

First off I want to say THANK YOU for explaining Lee's
HEART RATE was HIGH,
not his Blood Pressure! Let's hope they can get that under control for you ASAP! Wonder if you need one of those procedures like Dave had to ZAP your heart back into a better rhythm? Just keep bugging the Rehab (Cardio that is) Team about it. Let them earn their salary by investigating what's going on.

DAVE: I bet that WOOD is just soaking up your expensive paint. 2 coats will keep you from having to do it again anytime soon. By now I bet you're wondering if you should have just had the shed Aluminum Sided! :emoticon 0122 itwasntme: Hope you got out there as early as possible after the dew dried up. It's going to be a HOT ONE again.

BB: I feel bad that your days are so LONG. Waiting until 7:00 pm plus to have dinner on the table makes it even longer. Is the ride home for Missy any closer than when they lived out by the rental? Sure hope so for her sake.

I'm going to attempt to make a batch of COOKIES for our church's Picnic that is tomorrow. And drive them over to a friends house, so they can take them to the picnic for me.
I hate the church picnic. It's on this piece of FARM LAND that one group of people from our church bought years for their own private picnics. They rent it out to pay for the taxes on the property. Every year they offer the property to our Church for free. It has a nice brick bldg that has a hall and huge kitchen, bathrooms, etc in it. Also, a cement
pavilion (huge with a covered roof) where they have a band-stand and the Serbian band plays the ethnic circle dance music and everyone dances. Also, a BAR. The Serbs wouldn't be able to exist without a BAR. Ha ha. The music is SO LOUD....who knows why.... that I can't stand to be within 40 ft of the area. Now you know why it's out by the farms. I know the nearest neighbor can most likely hear the music LOUD and CLEAR. You wouldn't get away with that loud music in the city. They have a soccer field and swings for the kids and tons of picnic tables. Lots of trees to get away from the sun. It's actually a nice property with lots of parking. They will have the Sunday church service out there and you can bet it won't be inside the hall area, but rather outside and the mosquitoes will all be joining in!:oops:
The food is traditional Serbian fare. I'll spare you the details. Anyways, I just don't want push my luck by walking or sitting too much. Call me ANTI-SOCIAL lately!! LOL

You all have a good day and come back and let us know what you've been up to. Love reading your posts.

Pat...I see I just missed your post. Have a good day and enjoy your dinner tonight. Would love to have some Tarantino food.

Kathy - We don't mind eating after 7. Back when we lived in Ocala, Bert worked in Gainesville until 6 and hardly ever got home before 7:15. I always made sure dinner was ready at that time. Back before Gary met Elaine, they used to come for dinner at 7 because the prima dona took that long to come home from work, making stops along the way to shop. Now Missy works until 6:30 and it's about a 45 minute to 1 hour drive (if she's lucky) to get here. The rental place was about 20 minutes from where she works. Then she would have to make dinner. I'm only going to look for her to do some of the cooking here on her days off and that's not going to happen all the time either. Plus their smoker is sitting on our patio. I can almost smell a brisket smoking on there!! Jimmy does a great job doing that.

Good luck with your cookies. Sounds like a great place where they hold the annual picnic. I don't blame you for skipping it this year as you give your knee a chance to take it easy.

The lanai is calling me while the house is nice and quiet. ;)

From what I could see Dave The Monkees are only playing one show in OH and that's in Northfield. I think that's about an hour or so north of you. I know that when I started to move around I used shopping carts as a walker too!
Funny. I often think how far I personally have come since April 11. For the longest time it was a struggle to walk 10 or 15 feet. Now I'm back cutting grass, using the treadmill and the stationary bike. I have to because I have a 5K coming up on February 25th! We just have to get that heart rate to stabilize. Unless they tell me to cut out coffee and wine then it's just going to have to beat a tad fast. ;)

The kids are all hyped up
That's because you and Bert were up early feeding them sugar! I promise not to tell Missy and Jimmy. A year for Gary and Elaine already! That time has certainly flown by. I have to say that, among other things, we missed seeing them last winter. I know I've said it before but what's not to like about Elaine! She sure seems to bring out the best in Gary and indeed everyone she's around! School here doesn't start until the Tuesday after Labour Day. They still don't seem to know if it will be entirely in person or partially on line. If our government won't make shots mandatory for teachers and students over the age of 12 I can see some parents and even kids not wanting to be indoors with unvaccinated people.
Heck "Auntie Social", even if the cookies don't turn out they're going to the picnic. Kids will eat anything! I agree that it's a good move to stay away this year what with COVID and your knee. I can't imagine you going to a church function and sitting passively on the sidelines! I too am wondering if they may zap my heart.
Because I was always up and off to work at the crack of dawn we always went to bed early. So, we ate dinner around the 5 - 6 o'clock hour. I guess that old habits die hard and we still usually do eat around that time.
Best see what mischief I can get into today. It's hot with the humidex leaving us feeling like 86F. Not nearly what they're calling for from tomorrow on what it could feel like 102F!!
You all stay safe and find something to laugh about today.
