Buddy is turning out to be a sneaky little doggy.

He his longer than our previous wiener-dog, but a lot thinner. Hence he is the first dog of any kind that we've had that has been able to get under our white fence. It was while we were out painting the shed. Twice, at 2 different spots. Luckily he came running over to us. So he and Fuzzbutt will be left inside the house anytime we are working out in the yard. Our plan now is to put one of those plastic dividers at the bottom of the white fence. The kind people use to separate the lawn from a bed of mulch.

That is, when we finish with this shed painting. Which MAY be today. If not finished, it'll be damn close. Then we'll eliminate Buddy's escape routes. And then I'll finish up with the final touch-ups with the paint on the shed.

He is a waskily wittle wodent.

Lee, have the doctors ever mentioned a pacemaker for your heart? It just isn't right that your heartbeat remains the same when you are exercising or being stationary. I too am cheering when you tell us about a new improvement in your physical condition. At first you were just down in the dumps, but now you see the benefits of sticking with this rehab.

BB; Nice to hear the you and Bert got to escape from the herd and have dinner with G&E last night. As for eating past 7 PM, my gut would not like that. Eating that late, I know that the food would just sit there, and I'd just be burping for the rest of the night.

Yes K2 that new wood of the shed is definitely soaking up the paint. Kathi made a comment yesterday that was very similar to one you made recently. She said that when she walks in the shed she just loves the smell of all that new wood. Good call on being a bit anti-social for a while in protecting your knee. Plus look at all the calories you are avoiding.

Heck, I wouldn't go to that large picnic just because I hate large crowds.

I've dawdled long enough. Time to get woken up, eat some chow and head out to the shed shortly.

So we have had thunder and hard rain through the night and early morning. THUNDER....I felt bad for Bear and any other pups that can't handle the noise.
Now it's STOPPED! Suppose to get UGLY this afternoon with HUMIDITY and HEAT.

Art and I are about to take off to drop off my 2 nice containers of cookies. Snickerdoodles and Choc Fudge Crinkle cookies. No SERBIAN pastries being made by this girl for this picnic. I know from past experience that the kids like simple cookies and the adults don't bother buying many at a picnic. I got small SNACK SIZE Ziplock bags and put 2 cookies in each. At least my cookies will not have flies on them and NO COVID germs will be floating around on them. I made them small on purpose so I could pkg them 2 in a bag. Worked out GREAT!

DAVE:
Winner Pups are known DIGGERS. Good luck with putting all that fencing around your yard! ALWAYS SOMETHING!

You all have a good Sunday and I'll be back later.

Good morning.
Off and on rain here this morning. We did make it downtown for our walk. Weather permitting at 11:15 we have a 45 minute Heritage Tour. A walk about to see and learn about some of the older buildings in town. Hope we don’t get rained out. But it is going to be hot, hot, hot!
I loved your bunny snacking on a cookie Kathie. Maybe after the tour we’ll pop into Caffeine & Company for a beverage and a cookie. Awfully nice that you packed the cookies up in twos for the picnic. With the weather your decision to skip the picnic is looking to be brilliant!
The problem I’m encountering Dave is seeing MY cardiologist. I did speak with the nurse practitioner who is trying to get the results of my heart monitor. I’m hoping that once she gets that she’ll hook me up with Dr. McFarlane from the hospital. When he saw me to clear me for rehab my ticker was behaving. Our medical system may be free but you could die waiting to see a specialist. Pun intended or not? Your choice. I can imagine the looks on your faces when Buddy was gone only have him run to you. The finish on the shed is in the detail.
I hope you all have a good Sunday. I’ll be back later on to check on you all.
Stay safe my friends.

Good morning, everyone! Looks like we're in for a dandy day here until about 4 when the chance of t-storms increases here.

Dave - Glad the paint job on the shed is almost finished. Buddy is a little escape artist. We had a dog like that once and we tried to fix the situation the same way you are, but our dog was too smart for that to stop her. She just dug under the border we put up. We finally outsmarted her by burying cement blocks under the fence. That finally stopped the escaping, but turned out to be a lot of work.

Kathie & Lee - Sorry for sending the t-storms up your way, but we had no control over that. Hopefully by now the rains are gone. They've got 3 storms that have come off Africa that could develop into a problem. Just have to keep a close eye on them. That's the one thing I hate about this time of the year and hurricane season doesn't end until November 30th.

M&J surprised us this morning by making biscuits & gravy for breakfast. Boy, was that ever good! I probably could have eaten a second biscuit, but I didn't want to look like a pig! Now they are off to take Jimmy's car in to the dealer. There's a recall on it and they called this morning that they finally got the part in. He doesn't know if he has to leave the car there or not, so he had Missy follow him there just in case.

With the house all nice and quiet, I think I'm going to take advantage of it and go sit outside and read for a while. Have a super day, gang. Stay cool, stay dry and stay safe! :)

So now that they’re gone you can have that second biscuit?

Our walk was really good. It was about an hour. We only walked around one block. Meg, our guide, gave us so much information about the buildings and their history it was fascinating. After the walk we popped in to The Salty Dog for a light lunch of burst tomato bruschetta and their amazing Brussel Sprouts.
The guessers got it wrong…no rain since this morning! So Pat, you have no need to apologize!

Good evening....I thought for sure I had made a post on Friday but I don't see it now....and I don't remember what I wrote if I did write it...so with that...I guess it's a sure sign of old age when we remember things we didn't do & forget things we did do....with that I'll say good night from Belleview & will check in with all you lovely people tomorrow....after I mow Jane's grass & take care of a few other projects around her house tomorrow...

Hot diggety-dog, after 2 weeks of vacation Rachel Maddow will return to the air tonight @ 9. As will Stephen Colbert. My life returns to semi normal.
☺

So much for yesterday's plan to finish painting the shed. Maybe today. Kathi's tummy was acting up so it was just me, my tunes and butterflies.

Very unusual, but there were lots of butterflies flying around yesterday morning. So pretty. A Monarch and a yellow one landed on the shed less than a foot away from me, and just sat there for the longest time. Being in a jolly mood I began to talk to them. It wouldn't surprise me if the neighbors looked out their windows and said to one another, "There's that crazy old man next door talking to himself, again."

Here's a hoot. This past weekend in a town here in Ohio called Twinsburg, every year they have a festival for the worlds largest gathering of twins. From babies to those near 100. Hundreds of twins and triplets, from all over the country. They've been doing this for 45 years. This year's theme was the roaring 20's. Where people dressed up like it was. Neat.

Well, since there's less than a 10 percent chance of any rain this morning, I guess I'd better get in painting mood and grab some grub, and head out the door soon. (Or go back to bed till Kathi wakes up.

Good Morning Wrabbits!
Twinsburg full of TWINS… now that would be neat to see!
Hope Kathi feels better today.

It’s going to be in the 90’s here by noon and humidity will be super high.
Dave hope ypu opted to going back to bed instead of going outside to paint. Just too hot for that job.

Week 3 without a Doctor’s appt for either Art or myself! Wow.
I do have to call the Dentist and make appointments foe both of us though.
I have a filling that seems to have chipped away and needs looking into. Thank goodness it doesn’t hurt. Art thinks he has a possible Root Canal needed on a old molar. His hurts on and off when and if he chews on that side. Get this…..it’s been doing this for months. Why did he wait so long to look into it…..who knows?? Must be a man thing to ignore as long as possible.

LEE: Well the borders are opening. Just as I expected 2 hour or more back-up to cross to Canada at Detroit/Windsor tunnel and Blue Water Bridge. Not sure about Ambassador Bridge border.
We won’t be trying to go to Canada ( namely Goderich) anytime soon. I can just imagine how much a motel will be up in Goderich these days.
We’ll see how long the borders will end up being open before they close because of Covid &/or Delta spikes!

I got to see a lot of videos on the church’s Facebook page showing the events at the picnic and just who was there. I think the early morning rain and the afternoon HEAT & Humidity kept some people from showing up. I got a call from the church president late last night and she said they had to do a beer run when they ran out and did a run to get more meat for the grill. (Ethnic small hamburgers called CEVAPS)! Do a google if you are really interested in seeing what they are. She said it was a successful event. She liked my cookies!

Karen: I hope you have a good day at your sisters. Don’t work to hard.

Pat: Have a good week with your new roomers! Is the new house still at a standstill with the TILES on the ROOF?

Later gang.

Weren't there for everybody to share Kathie? ;) I looked up your cevapi. They looked more like little sausages or meat that could be grilled on a stick. They sure sounded good though! We're in no hurry to cross the border either. Oh,wait. We're allowing fully vaccinated folks from the US in but your government is keeping us out. Hmmm.
Well Dave, you're not the only one who talks to butterflies, birds, bunnies, squirrels and the such. I admit to doing it all the time.
We got our walk in by the river this morning. Not too many of the regulars out and about because it was already pretty warm. The Sheriff was there feeding squirrels talking to a police officer. Don't know The Sheriff's real name. He is the retired sheriff from back when Amherstburg had it's own police force. Now the Windsor Police patrol our town. Anyway, The Sherrif and his buddy Norm are down at the waterfront on their scooters every morning feeding squirrels and chatting with everyone. And everyone knows and chats with them.
We had a nice surprise visit from Doug (from Ayr) and his Mom yesterday. She lives in Windsor and he came down to see her. They decided to go for a drive and popped by here. His Mom is 90 years young and sharp as a tack! No mobility concerns at all! She sat out back with us and enjoyed a cold beer while we enjoyed a glass of wine!
I better get my workout done. Today is game's day so I likely won't feel like getting into that after everyone leaves.
I'll try to check in later but in the meanwhile, all of you have a fantastic day!

Good morning! Beautiful hot morning with the usual t-storms expected later this afternoon. Another typical summer day in Florida! Sounds like hot weather where everyone else lives too. Keep cool, gang!

Lee - Sounds like the sheriff and his friend have fun feeding peanuts to the squirrels and chatting with everyone. We have a black man walking his dog, who for years has been a fixture on Pleasant Hill Road every morning. He waves to all the cars and people wave and honk back to him. They've done newspaper articles about him and apparently one local TV station wants to do a feature on hem now.

Dave - I feel the same way about Rachael Maddow and Stephen Colbert returning tonight. Thank goodness that blasted olympics are over and we get a semi normal life back. I got tired of watching Guy's Grocery Games. LOL

Kathie - Must have been one heck of a picnic that hey ran out of beer and meat. Good thing the crowd was lighter than usual or they would have run out that much earlier. Nice that you got to see pictures and videos of too.

Yesterday was a fun day for the kids here in our community. It was their annual back to school bash. Aside from food trucks, everything else was free - rides, cotton candy, decorate back packs they supplied, plus the main event. Everyone was supposed to wear a white shirt. They had hundreds of baggies filled with colored powder of different colors. At the signal they opened the bags up and let the powder fly. Anyone of FB that follows Missy's posts can see the results. I'll try to post a picture too, if I can get the size smaller. They all had to hit the shower immediately when they got home and their shoes couldn't be brought into the house without being cleaned. The kids loved it!

Karen - I was wondering where you had gone off to these past few days. I though maybe I had missed a post from you doing something special. Don't work so hard with all those chores you have planned for today. I hope you get everything done before it gets too hot!

Our chicken potpie last night was delicious with very little left over. Tonight is clean out the fridge night and everything must go so we can start fresh again tomorrow when Missy will be making a Mexican dinner of tacos and tortilla soup, My night off!!!

Have a wonderful day, gang. Keep cool and don't forget those masks! :)

Just had a THUNDER BLAST and lots of GOOD RAIN FOR OUR GRASS. Mother nature has this watering down to a timely event lately. We love it! Not turning on the entire sprinkler system so far this year s FANTASTIC! Thank you MOTHER NATURE! CREEK IS UP AGAIN AND DUCKS ARE HAPPY!

Lee: Those Cevaps are never put on a stick. They are grilled on a solid steel flat big gas supplied grill. The church has one that some of the men made years ago and it works out great. They are a simple combo of ground meats, usually lamb & grnd beef. Some use ground pork & beef and some just use beef alone. Add some spices and use a sausage maker machine to make them nice and round and even in size. Or you can just shape them by hand for a small amount. You either love them or leave them. You out them inside of pita bread with chopped onions and a sour cream topping and enjoy! Thanks for taking the tome to look them up.

Off to make some pizza dough for our homemade PIZZA’s tonight.

Morning guys!

Great picture of Jimmy, BB. The caption on this picture should be; "Mom & Dad, this is my fiance Jimmy."
1f601.png
We may just go with your idea of putting bricks under the white fence to keep Buddy from escaping.

It's so nice of you and Art assisting the financial welfare of dentists, K2. And not just the medical doctors. I had a feeling those small cookies were going to be a hit. I'm more likely to give a small cookie a try over a larger one.

Place your bet Lee on how long it'll be before Canada closes up the border to Americans again. How cool that the old Sheriff and his buddy hop on their scooters to go feed the squirrels. I've always wished to have a Vespa. Screw those loud motorcycles.

Sucks to have more storms heading your way across the Caribbean, KC.

Shed still not done. Kathi's tummy acted up again yesterday. But I was out there at 8 AM. I was painting away at about 9. With paint, drop cloths, a chair, and a chord going to to the house for my tunes all spread out on the lawn around the shed. And guess who shows up? The lawn crew, whose normal mow day is Wednesday. So I had to drag all my stuff back into the shed. (I'm guessing that because our weather is suppose to be rainy toward the end of the week, they where just jamming as many mows in before then.)

Need to pick up 3 prescriptions at Wally-World this morning. (They bring it out to your car.) So as you see, I'd already decided to give the painting a break today, no matter what the weather is.

Good morning from the zoo! Or maybe I should call it the funny farm!!! OMG What a morning around here. Missy has to register the kids for school this morning and trying to get them to do what she wanted them to do, like getting dressed and combing their hair was a battle itself. Then add in that Bert has to go with them to prove that we live in our community and they are living with us for now. And as a final note, dogs barking to go out! Put it all together and you get what my life is like this morning. Is it too early to start drinking???

They all just left and I'm getting some peace and quiet for a little while. After getting the kids registered, they have to go to Publix to pick up the remaining things Missy needs for her dinner tonight. Bert has a meeting to go to from 4 to 6 today. I'm hoping in between we can get to BJ's for a few things I want for lunch and dinner the next couple of days. It's going to be time for some spaghetti with meatballs and sausage. I plan to use some of those San Marzano tomatoes I shinned and froze when we were getting them faster than we could use them.

Keeping an eye on the tropics right now. We may have a tropical storm right off our west coast over the weekend. That figures ... We have a whiskey tasting scheduled for Saturday night at the amenity center. Might be a wet walk to get there! I highly doubt that we'll be doing brunch on Sunday either at this rate.

Dave - I loved your comment about Jimmy's picture. He can be a real good sport and got right in there with the rest of the kids. They really did have fun.
Nice that you get another day to relax thanks to your lawncare people. Someone was watching out for you today and said you should take it easy, except for getting your meds. They don't deliver to your car meds here. You'd have to go in and there's no way I'm going into Wally World here in Florida right now.

Good old DeathSantis strikes again - He's now threatening to withhold salaries of superintendents of schools and school board members if they defy him and order students to wear masks in school. A few counties have already said they will ignore him and require everyone to wear masks. I was so glad the courts ruled against him not allowing cruiselines to require passengers show a card to prove they were vaccinated. They're already finding down here people are getting phony vaccine cards. It's very frustrating living here these days for people who want to do the right thing while he is doing exactly with the Christian right want him to do and will vote for him again, no matter how many people die here. It's disgusting!!

Think I'm going to grab a cup of coffee and go sit on the lanai while I can still enjoy the quiet. I'll be back later. :)

Good Afternoon Wrabbits! So we had a thunder storm this morning over here. It poured just like the weather folks predicted. And then by 7:45 am it was over. "For Now". More to come tonight and through Wednesday. But at least it's a nice warm rain! Ha ha. Kind of like DRY HEAT in Arizona. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

You Southern Belle's keep a watch out for that tropical storm they're talking about on the news. Time to make sure the plants are secure on your patio's and lanai's.

Pat: Once the family gets into a "SCHOOL TIME ROUTINE" I would suggest that you stay in your bedroom until they are all gone. You have a TV in there and if necessary you could set up a small 4 cup Coffee Pot with a timer on it so you have fresh coffee while you hide out!

200.gif

DAVE: Good luck getting that paint job done with the rain that's in the forecast. Maybe it will by-pass your area.
Sure hope Miss Kathi will be feeling better soon. Wonder if she is having "Gallbladder" issues? Appendix? Let's just hope it's not "heart issues". Almost time to get it checked out by a doctor!

And yes, we like to spread our allotted medical funds around to the dentists too!

Lee: How are the pups doing through all the rain? Did you get much thunder your way?
Hope you and Lu-Ann are doing good this week. I've been taking my blood pressure on and off the last few days and it's amazing how it goes DOWN and then comes back to normal at it's own doing. I've learned unless I'm fainting from low BP or my heart is pounding out of control from High BP I'm just moving on with my life. I know some of it must be from other pills I have to take for a few more years! :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:
Canadian government data showed a seven-hour wait for border crossings between Fort Frances, Ontario, and International Falls, Minnesota — an area that the site said "rarely experiences delays." Lots of people that were interviewed while in line at the Blue Water Border crossing said they were TRYING to get to their COTTAGES in Canada. Some haven't been to them in almost 2 years. One guy said he just bought a cottage and saw it ONE TIME and then the Covid struck and the borders closed. He's been paying somebody to go and watch for any damages from rain, snow, wind. Another good reason we don't need to be taking up space to get to Canada right now.

Out of here for now. Todays small job will be to see just WHAT IS IN THE BASEMENT Refrigerator FREEZER! Peaches will be in at the orchards and I want to see if I have some room to freeze a few bags of them for Winter desserts!

Be safe.......especially you folks in Florida.

Kathie - I don't think the start of school is going to be a problem for us. Some days Missy will be getting them ready and the rest of the week will be Jimmy's problem. Right now they are getting ready to go to school to meet the teachers.

Bert just left for his meeting. I'm going to get alone time, phase II for today. Time to practice for happy hour. Already have the glass of wine poured!!

Had fun with the kids this afternoon. I had them make ice cream using ziplock bags. The kids had to shake the bags until the ice cream formed. It was a lot of fun and the ice cream was delicious. They made vanilla and chocolate ice cream. Perfect project for kids their age and a lot of fun! They already want to know when they can do it again! :)

Good evening...finally getting a chance to catch up with all the happenings in the hutch!

Pat, that is a cute picture of Jimmy...just proves you are never to old to have a great childhood! :D
With all the 1st day of school chaos going on around your place I bet there was a moment when you smiled & thought to your self "I'm sure glad I'm not on the receiving end anymore for bundles of energy like these"
I will have to look up that ice cream in a baggy idea...that sounds like something fun to do with my nieces...

Dave, sure hope Kathi get's to feeling better soon...you haven't been doing the cooking or anything like that have you?

Kathie, I tried out your door repairman's Pledge trick on my sliding door & it really did help it slide much smoother...I tried it on Jane's too & it helped...but hers needs more than just the track oiled...but it's better than it was...
Sounds like a fun picnic if they had to make a beer run before it was over...

Lee, thanks for the info on the M&M farewell tour...I looked it up & can safely say I won't be spending $82 on a ticket....unless of course I win the lottery between now & Oct. then there is a good chance I would be there....

Today was my appt. with the eye Dr. the vision in my left eye has changed some due to the cataract but as far as the glaucoma he is happy with how I am doing so far. I have to go back in Jan. for the field vision test and then a follow up dilated exam...I'm still liking the Dr. very much...he is not pushing me into having the left eye done...but told me he would do everything he could to make sure that I felt comfortable & safe when I did decide to have it done...don't hear that from a doctor very often...
Got Jane's back yard mowed yesterday & a couple little projects done before we jumped in the pool....tomorrow I am going to try again to patch the roof on Barb's mobile home...she got a bigger ladder from the park maintenance guy...so as long as I can get up there it should be a fairly easy patch....then I expect to have some more pool time at Jane's... other than that not a whole lot going on around here....
Fingers crossed the stuff in the tropics fizzles out....enjoy the evening all...the timer for my chicken pot pie is about to go off & it's smelling REALLY good!
