How cool was that "Field of Dreams" baseball game last night! I didn't watch much of the game but I just loved seeing how they built this small stadium in the middle of a cornfield. Showing lots of scenes from the movie. Plus the players wearing uniforms from that period. And as another kick, even the announcers wore clothes of the time portrayed in the movie.

Good choice KC in deciding to pass on the patch job on that roof. I don't know for sure but I'm guessing that your flying skills are a bit rusty at the moment. As are your landing skills without using a parachute.

There's something blessed about a quiet house, BB. I too still can't figure out where they came up with this term "gravy" for what is obviously not gravy. Oh yea, we took your advice and put a few bricks under our white fence yesterday. While Kathi was doing it, Buddy stuck his head out under the white fence to see what Kathi was up to, UNTIL Kathi put a brick in that spot too.

"A tall Pike and a tall Blonde with room." We speak English here Lee. You've been OK'd to have your wine and coffee. Hey, us blind squirrels still find a nut once in a while.

That "Savvy" place doesn't seem to appreciate that most people aren't into upscale burgers. And they sure do have a fascination with the number 9 in their pricing.

Looks like another soggy day for us, so the finish up painting will have to wait for the weekend.

I got a kick out of a news story yesterday. The census results are being rolled out now. Seems that our population is younger and more more diverse than we thought. That aught to irritate old white supremacists.

Good morning and happy Friday the 13th!!

Karen - Glad you got some rain yesterday for a change, but to have thunder with it is no fun. We had no rain yesterday which was a bummer because I could see storms all around us. I had planned to treat Bert to a beer at the Grille, but seeing the dark clouds made me change my mind. We ended up not getting a drop of rain. Today will be different as there are some storms out there already.

Kathie - You asked why I was angry that our neighbor's lawn got watered and ours didn't. We are all supposed to get our lawns watered on Mondays and Thursdays. It's worked that way for years, but for some reason ours are not coming on at all and the neighbor's lawn stays nice and green while ours will turn brown when our rainy season is over. Bert really needs to put in a work order to the people who are supposed to maintain the irrigation systems throughout the community. He's had to do this before.

Lee - Pizza was a special supreme with everything on it and a plain cheese one for the rest of us. It really was good and there's plenty of leftovers going into the weekend! I'm sure between Bert, Jimmy and the kids, it will disappear rapidly.

Dave - As close as I can find the term "gravy" originated in Sicily where a certain dialect was spoken by the people. In that dialect there was no word for sauce, so the closest they came up with a word similar to gravy. Eventually everyone from there started calling it gravy and the rest is history! Class dismissed!!

Time for a cup of coffee while I enjoy the peace and quiet. Even Bert isn't here. He went for a haircut, so this is a win/win for me all around! Have a good, safe day, everyone! :)

Be very careful today Wrabbits!! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

BB: Thanks for the Sprinkler update. Get that WORK ORDER in ASAP....you pay enough HOA fee's that I would be on that like "yesterday"! Can't be angry if you don't do something about it! ;)

KAREN: I am SO HAPPY you didn't try to get on that damn roof at your sister's house. Just not worth the risk. Sometimes you just have to call for a help with something like that. Hope that "FRED" doesn't come around your area. Have a good weekend. How are your "GUY" friends doing lately? They seem to stay to themselves quit a bit. Must be too hot for them to bake some goodies and share with you these days!

Lee: I saw the pictures Lu-Ann posted on FB of the FREIGHTERS. Nice. Art said that one of them was really LOADED FULL. It was way down in the water. Amazing how much can get put into them.
Hot and Muggy here today, but overcast. Sun shows up every so often, but it's a nice break to just be cloudy for now.

DAVE: That little Buddy pup is a con artist in disguise. I see BRICKS along the entire fence line soon! They are KNOWN DIGGERS.

I couldn't get enough of the FIELD of DREAMS presentation and baseball game. The FINAL HUGE HOMERUN was just fantastic in the bottom of the 9th. Made the whole game even more of a "DREAM COME TRUE"! I didn't care who was playing, they all did a fantastic job and will remember this game until they die! Kudo's to all who put it together. And a BIG KUDO's to the baseball association for having that Field of Dreams stadium built in the middle of the corn field! Complete with a Corn Maze too.
Dave did you know that the group that was in charge of planting the rows of corn back in 2019 and caring for it all this time had to come out after the LAST HUGE WIND STORM they had in Iowa and had to put RODS up against most all of the corn field that would be seen in the broadcast because so many of the STALKS were bent over from the wind. They had to use those Plastic Tie Wraps to secure each corn stalk. Amazing how much pride they took in their field to take on that job so that people like YOU and ME would see it looking just perfect. Hats off to that crew for sure.

So many neat stories about this entire project and production.
I too loved that the broadcasters wore the outfits of that era on the broadcast.
I thought that KEVIN COSTNER did a excellent narration too. And when the players walked through the CORN STALKS onto the field it was just amazing! If anybody missed this you might want to look it up and watch some of the intro!

Okay, I'm out of here for now. Have nothing for you folks right now! Be SAFE. LATER.

Well now isn’t it just pouring! Up until now it hadn’t been too bad of a day! Still sticky or as our tv weatherman said last night…”air you can wear”.
There were lots of freighters on the river today Kathie! Yes, you can really tell which ones are loaded down. Art has a good eye! We went into Windsor to Indigo Books. Lu-Ann was looking for something our little shop in town didn’t have. Anyway, we stopped at Starbucks for a half price foo foo drink. I had a coupon from their summer game. I ordered a Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino. Calories be darned. They had everything they needed to make it! It was a nice shared treat but not something I would order just for me or any time soon if I had to pay full price.
I’m not a big baseball fan. But from all of your descriptions of last night’s game I wish I’d tuned in for some of it.
That is just bothersome about your irrigation system Pat. In Emerald Island they have a similar set up for watering and days. The landscape guys are forever lopping heads off units that don’t fully retract. That keeps the guy busy repairing them or other sprinkler issues raised by home owners. Both those pizzas sound darned tasty to me! A quiet cup of coffee is often a treasured moment.
Yes Dave. That’s why you don’t work at Starbucks. I’d order that and you’d bring me a six foot blonde (female if I was lucky) and a big long stick with a pointy end from “the olden days”. ;) I can already see that Buddy is keeping you both on your toes. You know, once he realizes that he’s got it pretty darned good where he is he won’t want to scurry under the fence.
About burger prices. Folis, don’t come Canada. The “upscale” burger place here in town, Burger 67, is priced from $16 up to $19. That’s for an 8 ounce burger and salad or fries. Lu-Ann and I have been there with friends but we split that half pounder between us.
Time to give Bear another hit of his CBD oil. He’s pacing like crazy which is in turn driving me crazy. Or crazier depending on your point of view…
Be good my friends and please stay safe.

Good evening from Belleview...nothing much to gab about this evening...I did some errands this morning & then spent most of the afternoon reading on the back porch...we had rain & thunder storms off & on most of the afternoon which kept the temperature quite comfortable!

Dave, I can just imagine Buddys surprised look when Kathi blocked his view with the brick...I'm sure he will take it as his personal challenge now to see what is going on over on your side of the fence...

Pat, I don't blame you for being irritated with the watering situation...I didn't realize the community was responsible for the repair of the sprinklers...

Kathie, I saw the opening of last nights game on Facebook today...I wish I'd know it was on, it sounds like it was really fascinating!
That burger place sounds to fancy for me....I like a good ole basic burger...

lee, your fancy coffee drink sounds yummy...minus the cookie crumble though...never been a fan of cookie crumble anything...
Poor Bear...hope his Oil does the trick...I'm thinking about asking the vet about some for Scooter...she does a lot of pacing & yowling & meowing for no known reason...she doesn't seem to be in pain...just ticked off about something...I don't want to sedate her, but I would like to help her calm down & relax...

Got the call from the Mattress place on my new mattress delivery tomorrow...it's due to arrive between 5-7 pm....it was an automated call so there was no way to tell them if they come after 6 the gate will be closed..."HOPEFULL" the delivery guys will have sense enough to call me if they get here & the gate is shut....I think I will call the store tomorrow just to see if they can pass that message along...I'm not surprised it's later in the day as it's coming from Orlando.. I'm going to stick pretty close to home though, just in case it arrives earlier..well...all that reading this afternoon has made me sleepy...I may end up calling it an early night...Take care all!

Not really raring to go but in a bit we are finally going back to painting the shed. At least the temperature will only be in the 70's today. We just want it finally DONE.

Looks like the pillow-guy fibbed. (Big surprise.) Recently he's been giving speeches and going on many right wing news shows forecasting that the Buffoon would be reinstated as President on Friday the 13th. Last I check, Biden still is President. I wonder how every nit-wit that believed him is thinking now.

You've educated me on an old dialect of Sicily BB, on your use of the word "gravy" instead of sauce. But hey, go for it if it works. No certain days for having our lawn watered. Mother Nature doesn't send out memos to us for that.
1f601.png

Yes K2 that 2 run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th was a Hollywood ending to the Field of Dreams game. With the ball landing in a cornfield. I'd bet there are many many people trying to rent or stream that movie. It truly was a great movie.

$16 to $19 for a burger Lee? They'd better hand feed it to me and come back the next day to wipe my butt. And who eats a salad with a burger? I could spend hours in a book store just browsing. But sometimes the prices are just nuts.

KC; Hope your mattress delivery goes smoothly. You've waited long enough. Looks like that tropical storm heading for Florida is moving further west of the coastline and won't hit land till the panhandle.

Time to finish up some hot wings for breakfast. This brand put a thick coating of BBQ sauce on them. Edible, but I won't be buying that brand again.

This is for DAVE and Kathi,
Buddy needs a day off from escaping"! LOL

It rained a little sometime around midnite to 1:00 a.m. I saw that the deck was all wet when I pulled the curtains closed!
Right now it's SUNNY and cooler outside, but a welcome relief from the humidity we've been having.
Dave/Kathi hope you get the SHED painting finished today! Whew.

Karen hope the mattress comes and you absolutely LOVE IT. I'm sure it will take a few nights to let your body get use to it. I'd love to get a new mattress, but ours is not that old yet! They just don't last as long as the ones from the OLD DAYS that you could FLIP. And just WHY they have to be so THICK is beyond me. Crazy actually. You have to call in a moving company to turn the darn thing around.

BB: Hope the gang SLEEPS in today for you. I bet Bert still sleeps in. Ha Ha. Loved how Missy did Jennifer's hair the other day. She had a nice picture on FB.

Mr Lee: What on your agenda this weekend? How's the lights you guys bought and put up doing? Do you like them as much as you did in the store. Sure hope so.

I bet the Field of Dreams is being watched all over the USA the last few days. We want to look it up and see if it's FREE on Peacock or Netflix.

I'm off to the Orchards to buy a few Peaches. If they have a 1/2 bushel of Seconds I might buy them to freeze, but I'm sure not paying for $48 bucks for 1st! They all get chopped up and you'd never know the difference. The 1st are good if you're making a special peach dessert and need them perfect.

Later gang! Be safe. DELTA is out there seeking us all out.

I'm going to call around this week to see if I can get the Pfizer Booster vaccine shot. I'm in the group that can get it from what I was hearing on TV.

Good barely Saturday Morning.
Not much planned for the weekend Kathie. Lu-Ann is out for lunch with the ladies today. We had a nice walk by the river, picked up pet food at the vet and a prescription for me at the pharmacy. Went to Starbucks for a coffee and then cleaned the windows in the van when we got home. So, not much planned. :p We must have had a storm pass by in the night seeing as the bathmat was all "scootched" up this morning. That's where Bear goes when he senses a change in pressure. I call him my "Bearometer". It sure is a lot cooler here today as well. A very welcome relief!
And who eats a salad with a burger?
Likely the same people that order a "plant based" burger. Maybe guys who have had heart surgery. (Like that's ever going to happen!). A cheeseburger at Red Robin in Florida is $11.59. When you add the exchange like we have to that's darned close to $14.50 CDN. At Paradiso 37 in Disney Springs the price jumps to $21.00USD! It does sound like a good day for you and Kathi to get the shed finished.
The ladies have all headed out so I guess that I can head down and do my workout. Biggest decision of the day, so far, do I do 30 minutes biking, 30 minutes walking or a crossover with time on both? I'm leaning towards the treadmill set at 5K per hour. Still aiming for The Princess Run at WDW in February!
I'll be back later to check on the rest of you fine people!

Good late morning/early afternoon! Nice to se everyone checking in between last night and this morning.

Karen - The company that will come out and check our sprinklers do just that. They'll mark where there's a problem. When it comes to a repair, that we have to pay for. Either Bert fixes it himself or we have to pay the ones who check it out. They are way too expensive and Bert keeps all the parts on hand when he needs to fix a broken sprinkler head. I hope you enjoy your new mattress. Will they take the old one away or do you have to take it to the landfill yourself?

Lee - Our landscapers have been known to snap off a sprinkler head while mowing. When we would have a cascading waterfall in the yard, we knew it had happened again. I'd have to pass on those hamburgers too. Heck, I think paying $10. for a not great hamburger is a ripoff too. Forget about Red Robin too. Ate there twice for kids' birthday parties and would never go back. House Cab was $11. for a 6 oz glass and the burger was horrible. I just saw your post. You sure were busy already today.

Dave - Pillow guy missed his mark and lil t is finding a way to get his message across by having others post his messages. Twitter is getting upset with that. In other news our resident a-hole governor has the health department figuring out covid cases differently so that it makes it look like our number are going down, which they're not.

Kathie - I want to get that booster as soon as I can too. I'll have Bert check with the pharmacy at Publix to see if they're giving the Moderna one. They said on the news last night that you should get the same one as a booster that you got last time.

Not a lot going on around here until the whiskey tasting tonight. Good thing too. I woke up at 3:15 and then couldn't go back to sleep for the rest of the night. My butt is really dragging today.

Bert just got out all the stuff for lunch, so I'm going to go eat. Have a wonderful, safe Saturday, everyone! :)

Hey there Momma Bunny.
House Cab at Burger 67 is $7 for a 6 ounce glass. Good tip on NOT going to Red Robin. We had friends tell us how good it was. Clearly they had too much over priced wine! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:
I guess that no matter how DeathSantis wants the numbers tabulated...they are NOT good! Ontario had 578 new cases and our officials are declaring a fourth wave. The vast majority of the new cases, like 99.5%, are in the unvaccinated. (Insert very tiny violin playing a sad song here).

I really hate to be this way but people have had the chance by now to get a shot to protect themselves and others. They all need to remember that their former fearless leader got the shot before he scurried out of office.
Which to Dave's point, he is still out of today, August 14.
Got my 2.5K completed in 31 minutes. A tad off the mark I was hoping for but good progress all the same!
I sure hope that the delivery guys for your mattress are masked when they enter your home
Karen. They, and even you, may not care but the rest of do.

Good afternoon all!

Pat, thanks for explaining how the sprinkler crew works...I thought that was pretty special if the community paid for the repairs...lucky you have your handyman Bert to take care of it! Enjoy the tasting tonite...
And yes...the delivery company hauls off the old mattress...which is actually Jane's old mattress & box spring cause my old one was newer & in better shape than the old one in her spare room...not sure if they will take the box spring or not...reading the "delivery guidelines" they only take items equal to what they deliver...I didn't buy a box spring from them because I wanted a shorter one...if they don't take it no big deal...it's wood slats & I will take it aprart to use for crafts & projects..

Dave, Hopefully by now you & Kathi are done with the shed painting & sitting back relaxing with a cold drink of your choice!

Kathie, hope you are able to find a good price on the peaches...I think next week I am going to try some of the ones I put in the freezer just to see how they held up...

Lee, I have every confidence that as long as you can get to Florida you will be in top form for the Princess Run at WDW !
Yes..the delivery guys AND myself will be masked....I still wear mine at the store or anytime I am around people outside my bubble...

Tracking my mattress delivery online...I am stop 16...they are on #9...now showing a delivery time of 4:50 to 5:20....that would be sweet...I'm eager to get the new bed set up...sheets on it & test it out again....now I thinks it's time for me to find some lunch too...for some reason I'm craving a burger today...wonder why?;)

Karen I think that's neat that you can TRACK your mattress arrival. It's like waiting for relatives to land at a airport! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile: Hopefully you'll have a sweet sound sleep tonight.
We kept our old BOX type spring or slats or whatever it's called. Didn't want the HIGH one that came with the set. That way I got to keep my bed ruffle and it sit fit.
Take a picture of it before you put the sheets, etc on it so we can see just how HIGH it is. Hope you can still climb up to it. LOL. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

I went out to the orchards and put my name on a list for a 1/2 bushel of 2nd's on the peaches. I bought a small bag of peaches for us to eat and enjoy. I stopped at one area on my drive and took pictures of Apples on a tree. They'll be ready soon too. Couldn't get close enough to the Peach & Pear trees. I didn't want to get shot by a FARMER with a long shot-gun for walking in his orchard! LOL I did buy a piece of Fresh made Peach Pie at the Peach place. They make the best ever crust. Just like my Mom use to make. I must say they were BUSY as all get out. I had my mask on. Yup, I was the only one in the small inside area with a mask on. The workers were all behind HUGE Plastic barriers.

I heard on the news that 2 teachers and a aid passed away from the Covid. YUP....they WERE NOT VACCINATED. You would think a TEACHER would be wise enough to get the dam shot.

I called my Kroger's and the pharmacist said she hasn't given out any boosters as of yet. She said I should check with my insurance company to make sure I am eligible. If I wanted to see if my original vaccines were still "active" it would only take 10 mins and a pick of my finger and cost me $25 bucks. I'm thinking about doing that. If I'm still GOOD I'll just wait it out until later in the FALL when EVERYONE will be eligible for free boosters.

I found some fantastic deals on Carter's Baby clothes. You buy one piece and the 2nd piece was only $1 buck. Then some of the stuff gave me a extra 30% off. How could I go wrong. I'll look like a very generous God Mother for that Baby Shower I'm going to attend. (with my mask on) All the Republican's there will most likely NOT be wearing a mask. Doesn't bother me in the least. All they want is my gift. Ha Ha.

Lee: I give you a TON of credit for you faithfully doing your exercises. Keep up the good work.

I have friends in Sidney, Aust and they are now on TOTAL LOCK DOWN. Police are patrolling the streets and giving out huge tickets if you are not a ESSENTIAL worker. You can't leave your HOUSE. I don't know how they get their groceries? I'll have to ask them. They need to do that in the USA. Just lock the whole damn place down for 2-3 weeks and get things in control. Too many CHIEFS and not enough people just doing what they're suppose to be doing. In our school systems around here they are have fist fights at the meetings over kids and teachers wearing MASKS. It's INSANE that people just are so POLITICAL and BULL HEADED over the health of their kids and themselves. Somewhere in the USA they sent 600 kids home to
quarantine after the first few days of school. Does that tell you something? DUH.

Later...........Off to put my feet up.

Is that the same pie place you met Art and his bike buddies at last year Kathie? I can’t believe the steps they are taking in Australia. New South Wales had 466 cases and the place is locked up tighter than a drum. The on the spot fines for violations are pretty hefty!
We took Katie and Ava to Fort Malden for a quick afternoon walk. Lots of paying customers at the Fort today. They must be made of money…admission is $3.90. LOL. Residents of The Burg can get a seasons pass for $10. Strolling the pathway by the water is free.

KAREN it looks so nice and cozy! You'll sleep like a QUEEN tonight.
If you want it higher off the floor you can buy those lifts that you put your frame into and it will bring the bed up higher. I think they sell them at Home Depot or Lowe's....or if you have to Amazon.
Home Depot: 1628973803647.png They had others too online.

Lee: Nope that wasn't the Pie Lady place where the bikers go. This was only 9 miles from our house. I'll try and get a google picture of the place.

Just transferred wash to dryer. I was bleaching out pillow cases and pillow case protectors you zipper around your pillows. Tomorrow I will take our pillows to the laundry mat with bleach and soap & fabric softener to get them nice and clean. Love the big machines they have for that and the big dryer. And even GERM-A-Phobic me can live with taking them to the laundry mat. (just as long as I can use BLEACH!) Ha Ha.

First up, I'm just going to get this out of my system;

Some days, like today, it just makes me sick when I turn on the morning news. Like the rest of you, we thought once we were vaccinated our lives would pretty much return to normal. Nope, thanks to bone-headed people that refuse to get the shot. Totally selfish. And now this pandemic is getting out of control. And now killing little children. Last year at this time there was no vaccine, but now there is, so almost all these infections are preventable. And the real bottom-feeders even get into fights over just putting a little mask on their faces. Making things more dangerous for kids under 12. Disgusting.

The other thing is seeing Afghanistan just crumble to a bunch of fanatics. The way it's going reminds me so much of the fall of South Vietnam. Both governments being totally corrupt. And we gave them billions of dollars worth of top notch training to their military, along with the the best in military equipment, and yet you can't make them have a will to fight for their own country. Running from fights, dropping their guns and uniforms and trying to blend in with the civilian population. I believe Biden is doing the right thing in getting out of Afghanistan. You want freedom, YOU fight and die for it.

Enough of that.

KC; OK little girl, quit jumping up and down on your new mattress. You were warned about this 60 years ago.

Just loved the weiner-dog picture, K2. Kathi even asked me why I was giggling. As far as mattresses being so thick; I think it's because fewer people are buying box-springs for their beds anymore, just a mattress. So they jack up the prices and thicknesses of their mattresses to make up for the loss.

"Bearometer". Great word Lee. Our temperatures dropped into the 70's yesterday, but for some reason the humidity didn't drop.

BB; I'm hoping that both you and K2 can get that 3rd Covid shot. And that neither of you are taking any chances. How'd that whiskey tasting go last night? (Hey, you had a designated driver.) I can't remember the last time I drank any whiskey. Hope you had a good time.

TODAY is when we should finally finish the painting on the shed. Yesterday was just the first coat for the wood trim around the edge of the roof-line. (Can't remember what that board is called.) So today is the final coat of paint. Between the two of us it shouldn't take much more than an hour to kick out. Less than a 5% chance of rain all morning.

Afterwards, it's steak time.
