Have a good Sunday my Wrabbit friends! It's nice here in PURE MICHIGAN this morning. SUNNY and NO HUMIDITY to speak of so far!

Dave: I totally agree with all you said in your post. We spent BILLIONS of dollars training the Afghanistan's and gave them the BEST military equipment and the minute we pull out, AFTER 20 YEARS, they put down their arms and are in F'ing NEGOCIATIONS with the Taliban letting them take over. What kind of negotiations do you have with the enemy. Sickening. All those girls that for 20 some years who have been able to go to SCHOOL, a thing we here in America are free to go to, are now at jeopardy of losing that right. They'll be raped and have to wear the extreme head covers and robes again. It's so sad. They'll be at the mercy of SCUMS of the EARTH. Okay, I'll stop now because my Blood Pressure meds don't allow for this insanity!

The car is packed with PILLOWS, mattress pads and I'm off to the laundry Mat. JOY, JOY!
I have done 2 loads of sheets and pillow cases and pillow protectors already here at home. We're going to have REALLY FRESH beds for sleeping tonight. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Dave/Kathi I hope the PAINTING on that SHED is finally over for you guys. Sure is a beautiful day to get it done! How did the
Escape artist do during this final painting day? Did Buddy manage to find a place that didn't have a brick in place? LOL

Lee: I envy you being able to get close to the water today and everyday for that matter. I bet it was nice there this morning or whenever you went to the park! Have a good day. I don't see us getting together anytime this year the way the numbers are going. Those borders are going to LOCK UP AGAIN!

Pat: Hope you and Bert are adjusting well to your house guests. I'm thinking they want to stay out of your way as much as you want them out of yours!! How is the house coming along? Any more work done on it. I'd be driving by there everyday. The best part is walking through while it's being built! We signed the 2x4's in a lot of the rooms before the drywall (sheet-rock) got put up! Don't ask me why. I know you won't be walking around on that uneven dirt to get up to the house, but if I was BERT I'd be over there for sure! I think we walked through every house that was built in our neighborhood once we moved in and even before! It's fun to try and pick out just what each area is going to be.

Karen: Hope you get a dry day and can get into a POOL somewhere! Has your sisters pool warmed up enough just from the sun?

Later gang..........gotta get moving and get the trunk load of pillows, etc washed!!

Good afternoon, everyone! I was hoping to post this morning, but time just ran away from me and before I knew it, it was time to meet friends for brunch at the Grille. Now I am so stuffed and ready to take a nap. That's not going to happen though. Time to take a book back to the library and Bert needs something at Lowe's on the way home. Then it's tike to relax with my full belly! ;)

Dave - The whiskey tasting was so good last night and the best part was that they didn't try to sell us anything! That's a rare treat. We tasted 5 different bourbons, each of which costs in the area of $50. a bottle. We also had food with each taste. Mini charcuterie boards for each, shrimp cocktail, kilbasa and sauerkraut, pulled pork sandwich and an apple chocolate dessert. Best part was that the whole thing cost $10.pp!!!! Best deal ever!!!! I'll try to post pictures in a little bit so you can see what they gave us to drink and how much.

Kathie - We are not in that first group to get the booster shot. It's for those with heart or liver transplants, people who are HIV positive and the like. Guess we have to wait a bit longer before our group comes up. In the meantime, we just have to take safety precautions like we have been.

Karen - Glad you like your new bed. Sleep well on it! I bet your kitties approve also!

Lee - Sounds like a nice walk there by the fort. Have you gotten an annual pass yet. Price sounds pretty reasonable to me. As senior citizens, we have free lifetime pass to all the national parks here. Unfortunately, since we got them, we haven't had any chance to use them.:(

Time to head for the front door. The library is calling! Have a great afternoon, gang. I hope you are getting to do something fun, but remember to behave! :emoticon 0136 giggle:

I do love seeing pictures on here. Before and after of that spiffy new shed. The tasting menu with all of the bourbon. A new mattress! Then there’s Kathie with her “gif of the day” which brightens up her posts. Just neat and for that I thank you all!
It is indeed a sad commentary on life in Afghanistan. Like giving a man a fish so he’ll eat for a day or teaching him how to fish so he eat for a lifetime. But he has to want to fish.
Back later.
You all stay safe.

What is going on in Afganistan so reminds me of what happened when the Americans pulled out of Vietnam. They threw down their weapons and let the Viet Cong take over the country. So be it then. If the people don't want to fight using the weapons and training the US gave them, they can just take the country back and leave them to fend for themselves. I hate what's going to happen to girls and women, but they have only their own MEN to blame.

Been following the rising number of deaths in Haiti from that earthquake. Now they are up to 700 dead and counting.

Dave - The shed looks great. Thank Kathi for us for posting those pictures.

By the way, those really were only shot glasses at the tasting. The picture makes them look huge! The friends we had breakfast with this morning are the same ones we were at the tasting with last night. The one who is the retired doctor gave me a present at the brunch - A bottle of scotch that they bought last year while they were in PA. They don't drink scotch, but know I will drink it once in a while. This is from a private distillery called Jackass Distillery! I'll give it a try later. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

House i s very quiet right now. The crew are off to buy some more school uniforms for Nathan. He's outgrown everything and they couldn't find anything for him just before school opened. I hope they will have better luck this time going to a few different stores than last week.

Time for me to return a phone call to son in NC. He called just as we were walking out the front door heading for the library. I told him I'd call him back as soon as we got home. Instead, I'm typing this post to my cyber family instead of talking to a real family member! ;) time to make that phone call. Later, gang!:)

WELL ain't that just the nicest looking SHED I've ever seen in a yard! KUDO's to Kathi for posting the picture and a you both deserve a special treat for doing such a FANTASTIC Job. Dave & Kathi you can come paint at our house anytime you want! Love the colors too!
So now tell me something..........does the shed get Gutters on the side or would that be overkill?

Pat.......even if you say those glasses were SMALLER than what you see in the picture 5 shots would have been way too much for me! LOL. SAVE that SCOTCH your neighbor gave you. I'm a Scotch drinker when I do drink!
Meryl Streep Cheers GIF by Cosmopolitan

Oh and don't bother with the glass! LOL The bottle works just fine.

Lee: I agree with what you said about the
Afghanistan's. We gave them 20 yrs of supplies and money and the death of some of our military and they aren't doing a thing to help themselves right now. The Prime Minister or President or whatever he is called HAULED OFF and LEFT the country! That's when the CRAP hit the fan! I feel sorry for the entire country, but mostly the women, young girls and any children. So sad.

Karen: How did you sleep last night?? Or maybe you're still sleeping! Ha ha.

I got all my pillows and bedding washed and dried in the huge machines and everyone had a MASK ON! Can you believe that. Now to put all these beds back together again. That will happen later. I'm taking a break right now.

I stopped by Costco to pick up a couple of bags of Walnuts that Art puts on his oatmeal and I use for baking. The price of walnuts is down right now, that's why I bought 2 bags. I'll freeze one after I
vacuum pack it. Also, bought some replacement light bulbs. One PKG is going back. It's the new LED - Daylight kind. Way too bright for our bathroom. Glad I bought 2 sizes. (they were on sale or I wouldn't have bought them) Oh and I bought a box of Kitchen trash bags. That's it. 5 items. WAIT....I forgot the bottle of VANILLA! 6 items. Not bad for a Costco stop.
GAS at our Costco was $2.97 a gal. At our Kroger is finally came down to $3.10 a gallon. It was $3.32 last week.

Out of here for now. Enjoy your day folks.

We went to a farm market this afternoon and this sign reminded me of a very old profession. Any guesses?

Pat that's one FANTASTIC group picture of you and Bert and your friends. Most of those glasses still have Whiskey in them! You and Bert look great! CHEERS!

Lee: I'm stumped about what the "profession is that you're reminded of"??? Can you explain please. Thanks.

Watched the last episode of "The Unforgotten" on PBS tonight. It was good. They teased us and said they might be having a 5th season. Well, both Art and I said after tonight's excellent ending we can't imagine how they could top the series with a 5th season. We're NOT getting sucked into it next Spring!

Off to our freshly made bed and fluffy pillows.
Hope our Karen had a good nights sleep on her new mattress. It might take a few nights to get use to it.

Good Moan-Day morning Bunnies!

Well, at least the Taliban didn't use a tank to knock down the gates of the Presidential Palace in Afghanistan. I still want to know what country the Afghan president fled to. (Along with the millions of dollars he's stolen from the people.)

What a jackpot day yesterday for pictures on here.

Nope, no spouting or gutters on the shed. Our contractor/nephew built us a shed, not a church.

That's the fanciest place-setting for taking shots than I've ever seen.

Thank you guys for wearing masks when in stores. It's such a little thing, but it could have a great payoff.

That's about it for my gabbing this morning. Running a bit tired.

OK, the profession I was thinking of is a pirate. Why? Because that corn was a “Buck an Ear”. Ya, pretty lame. No, we did not bring any home with us.
The past few nights have been very restless again. Sometimes it seems the more exercise I do the less I have a good sleep. I would have thought I would get a good sleep. Oh well.
Back later but in the meanwhile you all stay safe, keep washing those hands and no matter what your short sighted Governor’s may say…wear your masks please.

Good morning from another member of the sleepy morning club...the new mattress is not nearly as soft as I'd thought it was going to be...I'm hoping it will just take a little time to get used to...
Mowed Jane's front yard yesterday...then did a few projects for her outside...then in the pool we went...it was pretty over cast so the pool was a bit chilly...Barb came over about 4 after she got off work with Micky D's for dinner...
I have a board meeting this morning at 11:30...one of our resident complainers wrote a nasty letter to the board & dropped it in the clubhouse check box....she didn't like the way the yard crew trimmed her hibiscus bush....supposedly she filed a police report for "criminal mischief"...which I highly doubt....she also wanted the board removed since we "aren't doing our jobs" and replaced with a management company...which would probably triple our hoa fees or even more...some people just have no clue...always something....check back with you all later!

Good morning, fellow cotton tails! Add me to the running tired list today too. I didn't want to be left out!!

Thank you for all the nice things you said about that group picture. That's our newly dedicated rec center next to the amenity center. It used to be the builder's sales office. It's not very large, but it's great for events like the whiskey tasting. The view out the window is a tiny peak at the pool area.

Bert just left to take the car to the mechanic's shop to find out about a noise the car is making that has to do with the AC. It's a continuous clicking noise like a switch is flipping on and immediately flopping off over and over. It's very loud and VERY annoying. I'm afraid they would need to drop the dash to get at it and that could get very $$$$$. If that's the case, Bert won't get it fixed as it will not add any value to the sale of this old high mileage car. It will only encourage him to sell it sooner!!

Missy is off giving blood this morning. She has done this for years and on the spur of the moment made an appointment last night online. So you all know what that means - Between Missy and Bert both being gone for now, I get to have a nice quiet house for a change!!

Karen - You'll get used to the bed soon. Otherwise get a feather mattress to put on top. That would be like sleeping on a cloud! I bet the kitties didn't complain last night, did they? We ended up getting a good soaking for a little while yesterday. It was enough to wet everything down, including the one dog who was just being walked when the rain started. The she had to come visit me, of course, Nothing like petting a wet long haired dog who is shedding! What a mess my hands were!

Lee - I find sometimes that the more activity or exercise I get keys me up too much and then I can't go to sleep. I too always thought it should work the other was around, but I guess some of us just like being different!! LOL

Kathie - That picture was taken early on, so we had only gotten to taste 2 whiskeys. The woman explained each one as we went along. She confided that her favorite bourbon wasn't included in this group. The company she works for tells her what to push and have people taste.

Tried that scotch that our friend gave me and all I can say is OMG! it will kick you in the a$$ in a hurry, but what do you expect from a company named Jackass Distillery? I will definitely be saving that for when I don't feel well and need to make a hot toddy. It will sweat the illness out of me in a hurry!!

Dave - Does the shed sit in the middle of the year or as I seeing it wrong? Wherever it is, it looks great and I loved your comment about it being a shed and not a church.

Think I'm going to take advantage of this quiet time and get another cup of coffee, take my book and go read on the lanai for a little while. Stay safe, everyone, and wear those masks, which I understand are in short supply right now. Seems like manufacturers thought the need for them was over. I don't think so! :(

Hi gang. We were up early this morning and after a run to the medical suppy store by the mall to pick up some replacement patches for the TENS unit that Jill wanted to use we were off to Jills again. We were there last night (Sunday)
Jill had picked out all her violet plants in her flower beds and we FORGOT to bring them all home with us last night when we left.

I think Jill wanted the Stimulator Tens unit for her “Tennis Elbow” that she developed from too much picking. I bought he a arm band with pressure points on it while I was at the medical supply store. She actually liked it.
That store open at 10 am and there were 5 people making a line outside at 9:50 am. Most of the people were going over to the C-Pak area to get their night time breathing machine looked at. They had a wall with seats spread out for them to sit in. Big business on that item.

We stopped at the Peach/ Apple orchard on the way home and I picked up a 1/2 bushel of peaches to freeze and a WHOLE PEACH PIE! That slice I had the other day made it a easy choice to get a whole pie today!
And yes, I know I had a 1/2 bushel of peaches and could have baked a pie, but my crust would never be as good as this one. The lady that makes the pies is fantastic at her job.

Art’s been down By the creek planting all those Violet clumps for hours.
He even kept planting when we got a DRIZZLE of rain for about 10 mins. Crazy man.
I took all our cukes and small pickling cukes and cut them up and put salt all over them to get ready to make some refrigerator pickles. Don’t have enough do any big time canning and truthfully don’t want to do that! Hanha.

Okay, I need to put some chicken in the oven for our dinner.

Bob; These Yanks never go anywhere without a cell phone & a bottle of water.

"Does the shed sit in the middle of the year or as I seeing it wrong?" Well BB, we actually have the shed sit out in the yard all year.
1f61b.png
What I think you are asking is, "Does the shed sit in the middle of the back yard?" Nope. It sits pretty close to the house. It sits only about 15 feet past the white fence, where the pool used to be. There's probably another 50 yards of lawn past it to the back of our lot. If the dash of the Caddie needs to come out, do I see a new car in your future? Survey says....

Ya got me Lee. Never connected Pirate corn to a buck-an-ear. Hope you slept a little better last night. No TV in the bedroom, I hope.

How'd the board meeting go, KC? Sounds like that resident complainer just needs something to complain about to keep herself happy. One of those people that lives to find things to gripe about.

K2; I'm glad you kind of explained what a "TENS unit" is. I was clueless when you first mentioned it. I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm guessing that one of your favorite pies is peach pie.

Ole Fred is now slowly heading north at 50 to 60 miles an hour. All the moisture connected with it should come into Ohio Wednesday morning. Around here we'll have some rain in the forecast for every day, until the weekend.

Kathi needed to actually go into the larger grocery store here in town yesterday for some items that our regular grocery store doesn't carry. She was surprised at the number of people that have gone back to wearing masks. And by the number of shoppers getting their groceries on a Monday. Who grocery shops on a Monday? Apparently a lot.

Now that the shed is all done I should get on the treadmill this morning. Key word here is "should".

For now, it's time for some hot and spicy stew.

Haven't posted on your thread for quit a while but just wondering what is all the unopened water for ................
Good Morning BOB. The water was most likely just to clear their palate after each tasting of the Whiskey. That was a group of armature's having water as a chaser! Ha ha. Nice to have you pop on and post here. Hope you're staying safe during this ugly Pandemic of Covid & Delta. Sure has screwed up Cruising Life. Take care.

Good FOGGY Morning here in PURE MICHIGAN. You can tell FALL is creeping it's way in when you feel that cool, foggy feeling when getting up these mornings. Enjoy each morning, noon and evening as much as possible folks.........for some of us we know EXACTLY WHAT'S COMING SOON!

Karen: Sure hope the board meeting went well for you and the rest. HOLD OFF on getting a MANAGEMENT TEAM to take over at ALL COSTS! They're horrible and DRAIN the treasury big time. We had issue of nobody wanting to be on our silly NON-Official HOA here in our sub. After years (20yrs) of asking people to set up and take over the 2 or 3 positions, mainly treasures and president, those people handed over the collection of funds and management to a company. Well, the SH*T hit the fan when that happened because the new management company made up a budget and HIKED UP the voluntary dues to double what it was. And that money was basically going to them as part of their fee. After 1 year of trying to get rid of that management company and it's THREATS to homeowners who never paid the HOA fees and were slapped with thousands of dollars to pay right away or be handed over to a collection company we got 4 people to take over the HOA operations.
The nicest thing that came out of that horrible mess was that we got our STREETS CLEANED from SNOW on the 1st day of a snowfall instead of having to be at the mercy of the township that put subdivision as a last priority removal. The joy of having NO RUTS in the street to maneuver around was a blessing!

So tell the little old complainer lady that her HOA dues would most likely go up 100% if the care of the properties was turned over to a management company. They are thieves waiting for your money BIG TIME. She's upset because her plant wasn't trimmed to her specks. Tell her to trim it herself next time and see how hard of a job it is to make it perfect. LOL

I need to get off of here and head into the kitchen and start boiling some water to pop those peaches in and then remove the skins and slice and package them. Later after they get frozen I'll be able to use my handy dandy FoodSaver vacuum machine to suck out all the air and seal them for whenever we want FRESH PEACHES in the middle of Winter. YUM.
While I was downstairs looking for some canning jars for a small batch of refrigerator pickles I made I found a SURPRISE...........6 jelly jars filled and sealed with Peach JAM! Surprise Surprise. And about 7 tiny tiny jars of Cowboy Candy. (that's the Jalapeño peppery spread) YUM to both finds.'

LEE & Karen ... I hope you both got a better sleep last night. Karen, I love a harder bed. They seem to break down quick enough on their own, so I'm sure yours will be a tad softer for you soon!

Lee I just hope you system can give you the rest you need at night. I know I haven't been able to sleep since my surgery and radiation treatments and all the dam pills I take. It's a horrible thing not to get 7-8 hours of PEACEFUL SLEEP. I found myself on the couch this morning! Hate when I don't make it to the bed. But at least I did sleep and feel good this morning. You might be a candidate for one of those SLEEP CLINICS I see all over the place around here. My doctor has suggested that for me many times and I just fluff it off. I think I would OVERWORK their machines with all my tossing and turning. Ha ha

You all have a wonderful TUESDAY/ Be SAFE and I'll be back later.
