Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

My heart just breaks for the family's of the American soldiers who got killed and wounded in Afghanistan yesterday. You know that just prior to the bombing many were telling themselves, "At least this time next week he/she will be out of there." Once we got Osama bin Laden we should have just got out of there.

Wish Bert a Happy Birthday from me, BB. Happy to hear that you're able to stay on Prednisone. With the massive infection rate of Covid in Florida, just keep in mind that your immune system is lowered a bit with its' use.

Glad that all the sod and stones are in place now, KC. I can almost hear you say, "FINALLY!"

You got me nosey K2. What exactly is this new priest so opinionated about? It sounds like your old priest isn't going to miss that job too much, and can now enjoy a bit of retirement.

Lee; Don't forget to post that picture of you in that shirt on here.

My goal this morning is to spray some weeds outside of the white fence with some weed killer. With the morning dew it's going to be very humid. But if I wait till around noon when the humidity drops a little, it'll be too hot.

Good morning, everyone! Is it still morning? I feel like I have been up for hours already. We had to get up early this morning to take the kids to school, but I woke up hearing their parents getting ready to leave around 5. So at this point, I'm ready for a nap, I wish!!

Got a few things to do today to get ready for the invasion tonight. I need to delay dinner a bit to give Missy and Elaine enough time to get home from work before finishing up dinner. To keep the guys and kids happy, I'm going to make a Velvetta cheese log and a veggie tray, which I have to cut up all the veggies for.

I am just sick over all those American service personnel being killed yesterday along with so many Afghans. Fighting in a country that we never belonged in has wasted so many lives. It's just like Vietnam, unfortunately. They just never learn and so many lives are lost. :(

Dave - Good idea to spray those weeds before it gets too hot. Bert picked up 3 bags of topsoil with fertilizer in it to put around the citrus tree mostly. I need to use some for a new pot of basil. The pot I have is pretty well dying at this point. Soil has gotten too old and there is nothing left in the way of nutrients left in it. Time for a re-do!

Kathie - I too would love to hear in what ways is the new priest opinionated? Remind you of anyone? Any decision yet on what you're going to do with the garage floor once it cools off a bit?

Karen - So what are you going to do today on this, your day to rest? I just know you will come up with some chore or project.

Lee - So what's on tap for you today beyond taking the dogs for their daily walk?

Dinner at the Grille was pretty good last night. We ate a lighter type dinner, as neither of us was very hungry. It was a beautiful evening, but there really weren't many people there when we were, even though they are allowing Solivita residents to also eat at our Grille now. Aside from the things I already mentioned, I don't have much to have to do until it gets close to dinner time when I'll have to put on my chef's hat.

Guess I'm going to get to the few things I have to do, so that I can sit down and watch one of my favorite shows that I recorded last night - Robert Irvine's Restaurant Impossible. I know a lot of it is staged, but I love seeing how they transform some of these places. Besides, it beats watching more news and getting depressed, right?

So have a good one, gang! You know the rest ... :)

Yup....it's FRIDAY For all of us Wrabbits!

Pat: Please wish Bert a Very Happy Birthday. I hope you all don't over-work the man today. After all it is his birthday. Ha Ha. Have fun tonight.

Now you weren't saying that "I'M" opinionated! Ha Ha.

Not going to get into the few things I have heard about the priest and his wife just yet. I need to meet them in person and make my own opinions. :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

I sat on the deck early this morning and reconciled the checkbook and got the bills in order to pay online. Which I will do as soon as I get done with this post.

Not as HOT and HUMID as yesterday YET! No birds or ducks around at all. That was unusual.

I'm hoping that I can get Art to drive up to Port Huron and hopefully see a few freighters pass by and have lunch out on the deck of this one really neat restaurant up there. They have the BEST Bloody Mary's and salads. We'll see how this weather holds out.

You all have a FANTASTIC FRIDAY.

FYI: Florida had 901 deaths yesterday due to Covid cases. Crazy is all I can say. PAT, like Dave said be careful while on those Prednisone pills since your system is comprised.

Gather up your days worth of stories and pictures too and come back for Friday Night Happy Hour.

:( I wanted to let you know that we will be taking our Big Red Bear to the vet this afternoon to cross The Rainbow Bridge. We've seen this coming in our 13 1/2 year young boy for a long time. His hindquarters have been getting weaker. He used to jump up at the chance to go outside. Now he has to be coaxed. He has been having a breathing issue lately which, this time around, antibiotics have not helped. Bear, Lu-Ann and I had a good long chat and we all three agree that it's time.
I'll be back soon. Maybe tomorrow, maybe Sunday. But soon.
In the meantime, please friends, stay safe.

Lee, Lu-Ann and dear Bear......my heart goes out to you. Never easy to make this decision. Know that Art and I will be thinking of you today and the rest of the weekend.
Bear was a part of our Bunny family and we will miss the pictures and stories about him.

Lee, Lu-Ann and Bear - I actually cried hearing this news. Bear definitely has been part of our cyber family all these years. He's led a great life since you adopted him, visiting many places both in Canada and the US. Plus he personally has greeted most of us. He will be missed by all of us. We'll keep you all in our thoughts and prayers and know you will see him again at the Rainbow Bridge.:emoticon 0153 brokenheart::emoticon 0106 crying:

Was so sad to read that you needed to send Bear to "Rainbow Bridge" yesterday, Lee. But it was not only a kind thing to do, but a sign of love you had for him.

BB & KC, your ding-bat Governor got smacked down by the courts for trying to outlaw mandates for masking. How many kids and adults was this nut-cake trying to infect with Covid? It seems like in Florida, every day they are setting a new record for new infections.

Never did get many weeds sprayed yesterday morning. And heat and humidity had nothing to do with it. For some reason both ankles began hurting real bad just after I started. So I made a bee-line for the house so I could sit down. Very odd. I'm going out in a bit to continue spraying, but this time I'll have a chair with me.

Then we decided to hop in Kathi's car and scope out a couple of new places here. My financial advisor moved its' office to a new location, so we hunted that down. Then we went to look at a new stat-care place that our local hospital operates. Smaller than we expected.

And then the fast-food bug hit us. First Kathi went through Taco Bell's drive-thru, then we went through Arby's drive-thru so I could get one of my beloved BLT's. And back home we went.

Life in the fast lane.

Only 3 more days to go for August 31st to be here. I'm sure hoping that we can get to and past that day with no further deaths or injuries in Afghanistan. Each day gets a bit more dangerous.

And speaking of dangerous; Sunday is not going to be a good day to live along the gulf states as hurricane Ida heads your way.

Hood early morning Wrabbits. Slight fog going on here. We had a Egret in the creek this morning. Catching frogs. Reminded me of Longboat Key Florida. They were all over the property we stayed on. Beautiful talk long legged bird.
Dave: Sorry your ankles are giving you a hard time. Art takes a chair out with him when he tends to his Creek flowers.

By the way we had homemade BLT’s with our own tomatoes yesterday. Yum!

Pat: Hope Bert Had a good B-Day.
Karen & BB and PQ good luck with nasty Ida. Hope she doesn’t do too much damage along her journey.
I have a “ Baby Shower” to go to that starts at 11:09 am. It’s at a fancy mid-town hotel, so the food should be decent. And the pastry chef is known all over for his deserts. I hate going to these things.
Lee/Lu-Ann: Hope you two are doing okay over your way. Had to be a long day for you yesterday. Hope you can get out to the Park this morning. I bet it’s Foggy down your way too!

I’m off to wash my hair snd make myself look presentable. Ha ha.

Have a good Day you all.
And nice that we sent a DRONE after the one guy that was plotting another attach on our Soldier's. This just isn’t isn’t going to end very pretty on Aug 31st. Sad.

Kathie, you do know that today is Saturday right?? Just checking...
Unless Ida makes a pretty drastic shift I think Pat, Chris & I will be fine as Ida passes...she's pretty far out in the center of the Gulf...but these storms don't pay much attention to the "forecasters" and go pretty much where ever they want...

Dave, sorry to hear your ankles were giving you problems yesterday...I'm guessing it's due to your circulation issues? You need one of those rolling garden cart seat things...with a cup holder of course...you don't wanna look like an old fart... :)

Pat, we had a couple good rain storms come thru here yesterday too...nice when I don't have to water new sod...
Hope Bert had a great birthday yesterday & got spoiled silly!

Lee, thinking of you & LuAnn...

Nothing on the agenda for today...got all my chores done yesterday...made some blueberry pancakes for breakfast...yum! If the sun stays out I plan to head for the pool around noon....other than that just chilling today....Enjoy the day...

Good morning, everyone! Sort of cloudy here right now but still very humid. It's still going to make it up to about 90 today, even with the clouds.

Kathie - Ida is not going to come anywhere near Florida, so we won't be getting any of the rain or winds from it. I sure am thankful for that. I just feel so bad for the people in New Orleans who on the anniversary of Katrina, are going to get their butts kicked once again. Unfortunately, the storm is due to come in at night when you can't see what's going on. That's the scary part. They have ordered some mandatory evacuations. They all need to get out of Dodge NOW!!
Kind of mixed up on your days this week, aren't you? LOL

Dave - Sorry about your ankles hurting yesterday. Did they stop hurting once you went inside? Problem is it could have been made worse due to the humidity and heat. Good idea to make sure you have a chair to sit on while outside.
Sounds like a nice ride you and Kathi took. I like to check out new places too. We have a dinner planned for next Friday with G&E to Bubbles & Bites, or is it Bites & Bubbles. Whichever. We went there last year during Magical Dining month and loved the dinner so much that as soon as I saw it listed once again, we booked it. They have since moved to a bigger place and we want to see where it is now. Also want to take a ride one of these days to Melbourne and check out a produce market there that everyone raves about. Jimmy was in Melbourne yesterday doing a repair and he stopped there and bought Bert 2 of those mini kegs of beer for his birthday. They're 2 types of German beers which Bert loves, so he was very happy.

Karen - I see that you posted while I've been typing. Glad you get a day to take it easy. I bet I see pool time in your future. Should be a good day for it too. Don't forget the sunscreen though. Sun might not be bright, but you can still get a burn from it.

Lee & Lu-Ann - Sending (((HUGS))) to both of you.

Our dinner last night was delicious and the good part is that we still have plenty left. As I usually do, I planned way more than we needed, so there would be leftovers. There's actually a piece of the Carvel ice cream cake left too. I'm sure that by tonight Bert will be pushing it to get it out of the freezer.

Off to see what I getting out for lunch. I didn't have anything for breakfast, so now I'm getting hungry. Have a super day today. Try to find something fun to do, but don't forget those masks! :)

Good afternoon.
A very sincere thank you to all of you for your thoughts about our Big Red Bear. I had somewhat forgotten that he had met most of you and that he was Karen's Tour Guide in Gettysburg.
One would think that after losing pets so many times it would get a little easier. But it doesn't.
Hotter than heck again here today. Weather guessers say it's 84F but feels like 108F. Seems like a perfect day for the AC in the van to become intermittent at best. Of course the first service appointment I can procure at our local Dodge dealer is Friday Sept 3. I'll try a couple of independents early in the week. It gives me something to think about other than my big guy.
Of course Dave, I had to make sure that you didn't say your ankles were swollen. I may have been tempted to ask you when the due date was. :baby: Take it easy out there!
I think that could see Bert smiling from here after getting this kegs Pat! Leftover food AND ice cream cake? Your team is slipping!!
Blueberry pancakes sure sound good Karen! Katie loves blueberries. We usually have fruit, yogurt and granola for breakfast. She never stands at the table - except for breakfast to get her blueberries. Have a god day at the pool.
It was a good morning down by the water Kathie. Not too foggy when we were there. There is an Art show (pictures and jewelry and stuff, not a bunch of guys named Art) in the park around Fort Malden today. I told Lu-Ann to go if she wanted to but I know that in the heat I would be done. Especially with a mask on! She has decided against it for the same reasons. I loved the photo.
Lu-Ann has a T-Shirt that says "Live with Egrets not with Regrets" A good thing to keep in mind.
My thoughts as well go out to all of the brave young men and women still in Afghanistan and the families of those who lost loved ones in another cowardly attack.
OK, I'm off to the treadmill. Now I feel guilty if I don't get my exercise in.
You all enjoy the rest of your day, OK?

So can I blame it on the HEAT NOT GETTING THE RIGHT DAY on here!

Went to the Baby Shower and got a valet parking spot right in front of the door. He took my keys and said I did a great job parking and he’d leave right there. SWEET. Lunch was disappointing. Soup in a demi-cup and Spinach salad with a small breast of chicken (cold) on the side. I picked at it. Most of the others at the table I was at didn’t eat it. My table guests most likely knew when I was born. 95, 93, 84, 80 and me! Geez! Ha ha.
The Baby got all kinds of neat things. It was a slow baby shower.

Hotter than HOT outside.
Lee: Sorry about your A/C not being perfect. Hope it’s just a matter of some added Freon.

The theme of the baby shower was “Peachy Baby. I got offered to take home the center piece from our table. It had REAL whole PEACHES IN amoung the flowers. Looks good on my table!

My lovely BACK decided this morning it was time to tighten up on me. I had the car seat HEATERS ON to loosen it up on the way to and from the shower. Took a Tylenol and hope it will calm things.
Always SOMETHING!
Out of here for now.
Stay cool folks.

Good Sunday morning Wabbits!

OK Lee, I gotta know. Do the blueberries make Katie's teeth blue? That would be a great picture. I too passed on working outside yesterday, and got on the treadmill. Probably not as fast or for long as you did.

It's so nice to hear the word "hurricane" and know that you aren't going to be that greatly effected, KC. But it's sure going to be a nasty day for those in and around New Orleans.

Cool picture of the bird, K2. I can't imagine going to a baby shower and not want to leave one minute after I'd gotten there.

I'm with you BB on rather having a big storm go through during daylight hours. I want to see what's going on. It's good to see that Bert only had 2 beers yesterday.
1f914.png

Since tomorrow is trash day, if I do nothing else today I need to bag up some weeds that I've pulled recently and get them in the trash.

As hot and muggy as it's been around here lately, it's hard to believe that the first day of fall is less than a month away.
