By the way, I'm with Pat on the hot dog rolls rather than buns but not on the gravy versus sauce terminology.
Then again, I still think of Coke, Pepsi, ginger ale, etc. as "tonic" which has sadly disappeared from usage in Massachusetts, replaced by "soda".
The last year was definitely an "annus horrobilis" to borrow Queen Elizabeth's phrase starting with my fall and subsequent partial hip replacement just over a year ago. The coming 12 months just have to be better.
My football pool kicks off Thursday and it looks like we will have a record 30+ participants this season. If nothing else it helps fill the void created by Master Dave's absence in the world of football betting.

Good afternoon my friends!
Yesterday was our games day. After I cut the back grass. Tomorrow I do the front.

Bill, good to hear from you. A lot of paying it forward in the world lately. It does restore your faith in humanity a little bit. Not good to hear that Rita is still having a rough go. Big hugs to her from Lu-Ann and I. I'll be sure to change your address in my address book!
In keeping with the September Songs, I present Mr. Neil Diamond...

Today was (cardiac) rehab Kathie. I was happy as a clam as I broke the 12:00 minute mark for a kilometre. Just by a couple of seconds but a big plus from where I was standing. When I got home I had an appointment for a hair cut. Of course, we made it down to The Navy Yard this morning and were able to see Theodore Too. He's a tugboat based on a kids show here in Canada. That's the Boblo Ferry crossing the Detroit River and our Coast Guard station in the back ground.
IMG_5134.jpeg

The Monarch Butterflies are migrating now as well and there were hundreds in the trees this morning. If you don't know what they are they pretty much look like leaves! Yep, Jim and Gail, Jan and Dave, Doug and Brenda are all here now. It's proving to be a good move for all of us. Drinking and driving...Hmmm... ;)
Dave, if it's on Facebook it MUST be true. I always knew that WTF stood for something. I was informed yesterday that it stands for "Welcome To Facebook". WTF??? Sliders are little tiny hamburgers. And doors that lead out side. No wonder new Canadians have such a hard time coming to grips with English! We always found in FL that a cool night takes the heat from the pool (rental homes don't seem big on blankets!) and it takes forever to heat the water back up!
Hey "POP', sit your "BUNS" on the "COUCH" and don't give me no "SAUCE".
No cooking for you today Pat? I hope that you went out with Bert and bought a lottery ticket!

Would some of us know them as "popsicles"? Frozen, colourful sugary water on a stick. Still no mission tiles? Once they arrive they have to sit for a bit I imagine to let things settle. It's good that they kids are keeping an eye on the contractors. How can professionals instal a toilet that isn't up to code?
Good for you taking a well deserved day of Karen! Yes, there seems to be a lot of that "where the heck did today go" syndrome around. Cranberry Scones! Did I mention that I like cranberry scones?
I should run. I have to transcribe all of my home workouts with heart rates in to my Home Workout Book for (cardiac) rehab. they're still all bent out of shape over my heart rate but I'm telling hem it's pretty normal for me. Maybe, just maybe this will spur a call from the cardiologist!
Enjoy the rest of the day. Stay safe and be alert. The world needs more "lerts".
I'll see everyone tomorrow!

Pretty lazy day around here for me outside of a trip to the library for more to read.

Negc - Good to see your post today. That was great that you were the recipient of 2 pay it forward treats. You deserve it after all you've gone through this year. Tell Rita that when she feels up to it to give me a call. I had gotten a message from here right after she got home from rehab and said she would call. I guess with all the nurses, PT and Lisa around she has precious little time for chit chat. Just tell her that when she does have time, I'm usually around. I really miss our conversations!

Lee - No lottery tickets today, unfortunately. That tug is adorable! I saw all the pictures of it that Lu-Ann posted on FB and was wondering what the significance of it was. Thanks for explaining. Hail, hail, the gang's all here! You sure have gotten your whole posse together again. Enjoy!

I think I have figured out why the group of people that we used to be close to here and considered friends are no longer close friends, but rather wave and nod the them acquaintances - - - They're all a bunch of lil t repubs! The way they talk about Biden and Nancy Pelosi is absolutely disgusting. They are all faux new junkies for sure. At this point I am glad I don't consider them as friends any longer and am considering deleting them from my FB friends list, so I don't have to see the garbage they spew out daily. A lot of them were the recipients of the the benefits of the lil t tax cuts too! I guess we also don't live as "high on the hog" as they do!

Time to start getting out the stuff for dinner. Missy will be heading out to pick up the kids from karate & dance classes and Bert will be going to pick up the chicken wings. I guess that leaves me to put out everything else. Jimmy will be getting home late as he's working on an ariel fire truck that has it's ladder stuck up in the air. Then tomorrow he has to leave early for work, so guess who has to take the kids to school in the morning and go pick them up at the end of the day? Good guess!!

Time for me to say good night from our little corner of the world. Have a good evening and night and I'll see you something tomorrow. :)

Only thing is we don't have PALM TREES!:emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Okay gang........we had a really hard rain here with lightning and THUNDER. There is some type of watch for 60 mph winds that are suppose to come through later tonight. (It's 10:35pm) now so who knows what they mean by LATER!
Lee/Lu-Ann and pups and DAVE/Kathi your pup please be careful.

I've managed to round up 3 GOOD FLASHlites. Sometimes it's good to do things ahead of a storm. If it doesn't materialize then at least we were prepared!

PAT: Good luck with getting the kids off to school and picking them up. But we know you both can handle that. I have a funny feeling you'll be doing that off and on even when they move into their own house. Good thing it's not far away!

Okay, I'm closing this computer down. Hope I know how to turn it back on in the morning.
I should look for the password before I shut it down.

My goodness, we have become old geezers. That "See You In September." song we are familiar with was a hit in 1966. Next thing I know, you will be telling me that pictures in your high school yearbooks were black & white. (Oops, I knew I shouldn't have looked at mine.)

How cool that tugboat is, Lee. Can't say I've ever heard of that kid's show it was designed after. Then again, when any of our grandkids mention one of the kid's shows they watch we rarely have any idea what they are talking about. Keep working your ticker and legs.

Thanks for your new address Bill. I made the change in my Bunny address book. I think you are all on your own calling pop tonic.

I too know not to drink coffee at night, K2. It'll just make the next day miserable for me. We too had to run the A/C yesterday. No rain storms here last night.

BB; Now that you're a school bus driver, do you have to stop at all railroad tracks before you go over them?

Oh yea, do the kids at their school have to wear masks?

Hi KC!

Nothing much planned for today. May try a slow stroll on the treadmill. 2 more days to go on the antibiotic.

Lawn crew never did make it here yesterday. Still catching up from Labor Day.

A tree trimming company spent yesterday having at it a couple of doors away. They had taken down a giant tree for this guy earlier in the summer. Now they are working on a couple of other trees that are about 4 stories high. Not sure if it's just a trim or a tree removal. Either way this neighbor has got to be paying out lots of cash. The tree crew is at least 5 guys.

OK I'm back! Bert asked if I'd like to go out to our favorite CHEAP breakfast place after we had dropped off the kids. At first I said yes, but on further thought I changed my mind. This place is frequented by all the farmers, cattle ranchers & other Rednecks, all of whom are on the wrong side politically. None of them is wearing masks nor following any recommended procedure. No thanks! Better to just come home and be done with it.

Kathie - I hope you all made it through the rains & wind last night and expect to see a post from you soon, if you didn't lose power, that is. If we don't hear from you, we'll know why.

Karen - This is such a beautiful morning outside. Temps were down a bit. We saw a lot of people out walking when we took the kids to school. Perfect morning for a walk.
So what kind of projects do you still have to do at Jane's house? With all you've done for both of your sisters and their houses, both places must look like complete renovations from top to bottom by now! Enjoy your swim and hope it doesn't rain to mess you up.

Lee - I was very disappointed with Publix's wings last night. They were very small and not at all like normal. By the time everyone got theirs, I ended up with only 2. They've also raised the price quite a bit - $13. for 20 wings! These were definitely not worth that price. I still don't get it the way people here drool at the mention of Publix and shopping there. It used to be good, but it's been on a slippery slope since they started to cut back on many items and their quality. Back when Gary and even Karen worked there in the bakery, they actually baked stuff the old fashion way. Now everything in the bakery department is brought in, except some of the breads, and those come in ready to be popped in the oven. Oh well, times have changed and not necessarily for the better.

Dave - You asked if the kids have to wear masks in school here. There is s temporary mask mandate in effect until after the first week in October. Parents are allowed to have their child not wear a mask with a note opposing it, for some reason. Mostly BS excuses! The school board is considering making it permanent, but don't like the idea of DeathSantis withholding funds like he's threatening to do, so who knows? It's just plain scary how many children are coming down with Covid since school opened. The hardest hit ones here are the ones where all the rich repubs live, like in Celebration where they had to shut the school down for 3 days hoping to break the cycle.

I need a cup of coffee, if I expect to stay awake today, so I'm out of here for now. Have great hump day and take care, everyone!:)

Good Mid-Morning gang.
We made it through all the RAIN last night. The “WIND“ the weather people kept warning us about all evening was cancelled around Midnight. The rain kept coming a little longer.

LEE: Love the TUG BOAT….Theodore! What a cutie.

Karen: Sounds like you have a fun day going for you. Enjoy the swim. I must agree with Pat….can’t imagine what your sister can possibly need done!
Just pray that neither one of your sisters ever MOVE into another place. If so, you better move out of the STATE FAST! Ha ha.

Pat: Hope you can get a NAP scheduled before you have to pick up the kiddo’s!
I managed to fill a few Hot Banana Peppers with a meat/rice mixture that was leftover from the peppers I filled and cooked yesterday. They are now nicely vacuumed sealed and in the freezer for future use.
TONIGHT WE HAVE STUFFED PEPPERS w/ mashed potatoes for dinner. All I have to do is warm it up. My kind of dinner.

I wish we could drive over to Canada and see the Monarch Butterflies at Pointe Peelee park. Just not worth all the trouble you have to go through. Border is open And Jill’s Godparents are going over to see relatives today and staying a few days. They’re lucky because they have a place to stay and give to the border patrol. I need to check and see just what the restrictions are currently.

Not sure what we’re doing today.
Have a good day all. Be safe.

LEE: This is for you.......... others might want to SKIP OVER this post.

So I looked into how to get to Canada now that as of Sept 7th 2021 with proper paperwork you can actually travel to Canada.

What a lot of BULL CRAP online. Both from USA sites and Canadian border sites.
I finally got a actual PHONE NUMBER and talked to a REAL AGENT (not a recording).
Everyone leaving the USA and entering CANADA must have:

Covid-19 vaccinations and proof of them.
Also, you must get a PCR TEST done 72 hrs before traveling to Canada.
I have downloaded all our Covid-19 Vaccination information and Passport information on a Phone App:
ArriveCan (it was free to download)

You CANNOT use a RAPID ANTIGEN TEST. It has to be a MOLECULAR PCR Test.
Seems like there are testing places all over the place and they are FREE.

PCR - Polymerase Chain Reaction (in case you were wondering)

If we wanted to go to see the Butterfly Migration at Pointe Pelee Park we would have to also add a address of where we might QUARANTINE if it became necessary. The nice agent said to just put down a local HOTEL name and address since we didn't have a relative or place we would be staying at. I told him we would just be there for the day and he said putting down a local Hotel address would be the way to go.

My next thing to look into is how to pay to get across the border. They don't take CASH at the tunnel. Not sure about other border locations. This is MORE WORK than I thought it would be. But better to be prepared than to have to get turned back.

UPDATE: Vehicles pay a fee to pass the tunnel, except for motorcycles which are prohibited. You can pay the toll with a credit card, debit card, the DWT's proprietary NEXPRESS Card, or their smartphone app. The tunnel no longer accepts cash! NexPress is only good at Detroit/Windsor Tunnel.

Good afternoon to everyone!
When you're awake at 4:00 am it sure does make for a long day We usually get either a whole cut up fried chicken or a big old fried chicken breast that's big enough to feed a small family! I guess that won't happen with Mr. Heart Healthy trying to watch what he eats... :( More to the point with Lu-Ann watching what I eat.
Kathie, about the only thing you missed in your note about crossing the border was "At the CBSA booth you will be required to get out of your car, hop on one foot and jump through a hula hoop."
It cracks me up that the US is warning it's citizens to avoid travel to Canada because of the rise in COVID cases. Let me see now. ALL of Canada had 3307 new cases yesterday, September 7. Michigan alone had 6781. And Canada has a problem?? Here's a look at some the Monarchs in the trees this morning at The Navy Yard. Sorry the picture is so big! By the way, how is your knee feeling these days?
tempImagelx9NCE.jpg

catch up with you all later!
Well, you better!
we have become old geezers.
Speak for yourself Dave! I prefer to think of myself as a young geezer. I'll be right back. I have to shoo a kid off the front lawn. OK, back now. I've never seen the kids show either. Now Theodore sails The Great Lakes as an educational vessel promoting clean water, sustainable fishing and so on. I do hope that the antibiotics are having a positive effect! I cut the front grass today and did 30 minutes on the bike. The time sure flies by when you have good music on!
Score 1 for the home team. I heard from the doc's office and my full body bone scan came back A-OK! Next up is another CT scan and then on to the oncologist. With all these issues I bet our winter getaway (if it does happen) insurance is gonna be a small, maybe a large, fortune.
I'm going to get the pups around the block. Lu-Ann is out with the "Girl Gang" this afternoon.

You all be good. I know it's not as much fun as being ourselves but, hey...

Lee: Thanks for the FANTASTIC Monarch Butterfly picture. I'll make sure Art looks at it on our BIG Monitor. So beautiful. This is what we're missing out on because we need to get that 72 hr Covid check before venturing over. I'd go in a heartbeat. It's the MR ARTIE that is slow at going through the hoops to get across the river!
I'll have to see just how long the Monarchs are suppose to be around and maybe try and get him to take some time off from the darn bike riding and do something a tad different.

Congrats on the GOOD NEWS regarding the Bone Scan. Hope the next CT Scan is as good. You've got this buddy. You do know that this is a slow growing Cancer from all that Art has read about it and passed on to me.

I'd love to see that Theodore Tug Boat. Does it have a schedule of where it will be next?

We ate the Stuffed Peppers I made yesterday along with our own garden potatoes that I made into Mashed Potatoes. Can I say YUMMO!

Did you all read that the Weasle little T man is going to be ring-side at a Wrestling game in Miami doing the commentary on 9/11. What a piece of CRAP that EX-so called Pres is. Hard to believe he could do something like that on the 20th Anniv of 9/11.

Good evening....told you I'd be back!!

Lee, FINALLY some good news from the medical profession...let's hope it's the start of better things to come!! Very nice pictures also!

Kathie, with all those hoops to travel to Canada one might think they just want us American's to keep our germ ridden selves on our side of the border...present company excluded of course...I can't say that I blame them...

Dave, I'm surprised they actually had year books back when you were in school....sorry...couldn't resist....

Pat, you aren't kidding when you say things have changed at Publix!! Back when I worked there not only did we make everything from scratch, if a customer came in & wanted something special in a cake or something like that, we darn sure better take that order & make whatever they wanted...NOW if you go in & say you want a cake with 1 layer yellow & 1 layer choc. they tell you they "can't" make it cause all the cakes come in pre-iced & they just decorate them or write a name on them....the only good thing about Publix is they still pay a decent dividend on their stock 4 times a year....I just wish I would have held on to more of what I bought than I did...

Negc, thanks for the address update....I've made the change in my book as well....

Today's project at Jane's wasn't so much a project as I was going to help her clean her bedroom...she was going to do a deep clean & purge and wanted moral support...that ended up not happening because Barb messaged her & asked if we could swim earlier today so we didn't get rained at...we would have only had an hour or so to work on her room...which would have been a waste of time....I will go over another day & help her...maybe a day it's raining or something...we got to spend quite a bit of time in the pool...it clouded over...but never did rain...
Tomorrow we are meeting Wendy for lunch & then go swimming after....and that's about all the news from Belleview...Have a great evening all!!

BB; At least your grandkid's school makes the kids wear masks. Covid infections are skyrocketing in kids between 5 and 17. Screw Deathsantis.

Do you win an award K2 if you jump through all those hoops and not get turned back at the Canadian border? I'm amazed at all the businesses that won't accept cash.

Great picture of the Monarchs Lee. And to think those fragile looking little creatures fly hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of miles on their yearly migration. Congrats on your good bone scan.

Grocery pick-up day.

So depressing watching the news, as every day the Covid numbers just keep getting worse. ALL because of anti-vaxers & anti-maskers. Disgusting.

Good Morning Wrabbits. I'm not liking the COOLER MORNINGS we're starting to have here. It's Sunny and the next 2-3 days are suppose to get up to the 80's, but 60F to start in the morning is just not cutting it for me.

This is for Karen! And NO you're not a Frog. Ha Ha

Karen: Cute picture of Hansel on your lap. Was that your Dad's dog? Looks like a fun pup.
I need someone to come over here and help SUPPORT me when it comes to cleaning out the basement cedar closet of
STUFF that has been hanging in there for decades. And STUFF on the shelves in there. Maybe the next time it rains it could be a rainy day job. We really need to pitch a lot of CRAP from that entire basement. Then it might be a good time to refresh the walls with a coat of light off-white or grey paint. Wait until I bring that up to Mr Art! Ha Ha.

Today is FILL THE PRIESTS LEASED HOUSE DAY!

Our President went to check the place out last night and it wasn't cleaned. It was CLEANED OUT, but the carpets were not steam cleaned. She was furious. She walked out on the owner and real estate people. They said they would stay all night and put in fans to get the carpets clean and dry.
So today's start time changed from 10 am to 2:00 pm.
Furniture deliveries are happening for kitchen and some living room tables. People from church will be putting together bedframes, etc, etc in the garage if the carpets are still damp. The team I'm on for Kitchen and Bathroom will be able to work stocking things because there is no carpet in those rooms.
I see myself wearing my MASK the entire time I'm in that house.

Should be a interesting day.

I'm off to go to breakfast at the local Pancake Factory. Might as well have something decent since we'll be working it off at that house!
Also, need to go to the Dollar Store and buy a pair of rubber gloves. Who knows how much was actually cleaned in the kitchen cupboards.
This entire MOVE was RUSHED so the priests kids could get into their schools and not be behind in their classes. My answer to that was put them up in a Residence Inn Suite and slow the project down. But nobody listens to me. Ha Ha.

You all have a fantastic THURSDAY and I'll be back late tonight or tomorrow.

Good morning! No rain here YET, but I know it's coming. We had a storm last evening that came on so fast and the rain was so heavy, that you actually couldn't see anything out the windows. It was a solid wall of water!! Both M&J were driving in it, so I was a nervous wreck.

Lee - Love the picture of the Monarch butterflies. Surprisingly, we don't see many butterflies here. I keep asking Bert to put in a butterfly garden with plants that will be attractive to butterflies, but he doesn't want any more work to maintain outside. Oh well. I think you are more apt to se Monarch butterflies up north anyway. We aren't on the migration route to Mexico, so we don't even see them this time of the year. We had a lot of them in NJ. We also had preying mantis which love to eat Monarchs. I used to find wings on the ground on the side of our house all the time during the summer. Always made me so sad to see.

Kathie - Cute Sponge Bob picture. Is that going to be you today while you set up the priest's house? Good luck with that job. You will be one tired lady by tonight. Smart move going out for breakfast. That will help your energy level, though what you do each day around the house makes ME tired!

Karen - It really is sad what has happened to Publix. Between bringing everything premade in the bakery, their prices seem to go up everyday. All those BOGO sales are not that great when they've raised a price and then make it a BOGO to make it look good. Truthfully, these days I like Winn Dixie better. Never thought I'd say that as Publix used to run rings around them years ago. Unfortunately, the nearest Winn Dixie to us is almost an hour away so that's not going to happen.
Love the picture of Hansel sitting on your lap.

Dave - Our grandkids have no problem wearing masks. Nathan even wears one here in the house sometimes. Last Saturday he didn't feel well. He was running a fever and had a sore throat. Jimmy took him to the doctor's office and the first thing Jimmy requested was a Covid test. Thankfully, it was negative. Basically the sore throat was from allergies and both the sore throat and fever were gone by the next day. I am so glad the court overturned DeathSantis' no mask mandates in schools. He acts like a complete dictator when actually he's a d*ck with his rulings! Happy picking up groceries today.

Not a lot on tap for today. Bert said something about making a run to BJ's for a few things. Our friend wants to know if we're going to the Grille tonight, but I'm not thrilled with that idea. I'd rather have leftover salmon and fettuccine.

Time to make a shopping list of what all Bert needs to get that I'm requesting, as I'm sure he'll want to go soon. Hopefully, before the rains come. Have a fantastic day, everyone! :)

Good afternoon!
Good for Jimmy getting Nathan checked so quick! And good for Nathan wearing his mask without having it forced on him. How come he gets it and your esteemed (joking) governor doesn't. I have but one question Pat. Do you call him dick or tater? It was really quite a sight, all those monarchs. There were some again today but not as many as there have been. We may be near the end of the migration for this year.
Great Sponge Bob cartoon Kathie. I bet Pat was humming the theme when she saw it. Please take care of yourself and your knee while you're toiling away at the priest's house. Here's a link to Theodore's schedule. Sadly I think you missed the best chance to see him when he was in Sarnia and Windsor...https://www.todocanada.ca/theodore-too-tugboats-set-to-visit-windsor-grand-bend-and-sarnia/
I do get the reason Art is slow to want to come over. It's not been made easy, even for fully vaccinated citizens of The US. We also understand that vaccination test comes a steep price depending where you have it done. Hopefully things will open up a little more and the hoops won't be as silly to jump through.
I thought that for the picture with Hansel you could have identified yourself as "Gretel" Karen. Then another picture from Perkins! Neat. Sorry about all of your rain lately though. The way you and Pat are talking about Publix makes my heart sink a tad. They used to have such great stuff and specials to boot.
I heard on the news that some doctors and hospitals are actually denying care to unvaccinated COVID patients Dave. I say "Good for them". Are you still ordering groceries online for pickup, bar a few items that always pop up after the order is placed? What I find even more disgusting, as it seems do a number of people, is that t thinks a good way to remember 9/11 is to do the commentary on a wrestling match from FL. The epitome of an arse. Actually, that's unfair to arses.
After our morning walk we headed out to find a rack for shoes that we can leave in the garage by the "man door". Then I had to get a good pair of shoes for use not he treadmill here at home and at (cardio) rehab. The pair I was wearing came from Bealls and after all of the coupons and discounts they came to about $29.00 USD. Let's just say that the pair I came home with today cost a little, no make that a LOT, more than $29.
I still have to do my exercise so I best get my buttocks moving.
See you all tomorrow.
