Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Good afternoon!

You know your life is really, really boring when you can et excited and spend over an hour going through the new Publix flyer!!! I definitely need to get a life!

Kathie - I will definitely keep your friend Ronnie in my prayers. Such a shame when things go downhill like that. Glad the smoke has cleared from your area. Great to hear that Art got a good report on his physical.

Dave - Sorry for making you buy hot Italian sausage while at the supermarket. That has got to be one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I can't have it any longer. I have to get hot turkey or chicken sausage. They can say they taste the same, but don't believe it. The peppers & onions just couldn't mask the taste. I guess men cringe over a needle in their sack like women cringe when they get their melons smashed!

Lee - Glad you and Ava were able to get out bright and early for your walk today. I hope the smoke stays away so you can take her for a walk by the river. Yes, DiCarlo's would like to move, but last I heard she hadn't found another place yet. I personally hope they don't move because where she's looking is much further away in St Cloud.

Nancy - I hope your hands are feeling better now. Do you take any type of pain meds like Aleve or Tylenol for the pain?

Bert is off with Missy to the orthopedic doctor's office to get his staples out. Keep your fingers crossed that he gets permission to drive again. He's to the point of crawling up the walls from staying home. I told him that at least he's getting to go out with all his trips to doctors or the hospital. He needs to have pity on me for not going anywhere!

I guess next order or business is to get a glass of wine and make a shopping list of all the things Publix has on BOGO this week that we need!

Have a wonderful afternoon!

I’ll drink to that Pat.
Fingers crossed for Bert!
Thoughts and prayers for your friend Ronnie, Kathie.
Air quality here has deteriorated again to 11. :( I’m glad we got our running about done this morning.

Pat said "Nancy - I hope your hands are feeling better now. Do you take any type of pain meds like Aleve or Tylenol for the pain?"

No because they don't do anything for the pain, they only work on headaches. The only thing that would work is a narcotic and I know I can't get that.

Nancy - Extra strength Tylenol has really helped with the pain from the hip replacement surgery. He never needed to take any of the pain meds (narcotics) that he was given.

While Bert & Missy were at the doctor's, I spent the time looking at cruises. Found one I am really excited about and need to look into further!

Bert is now allowed to drive, but only in our neighborhood. That means no DiCarlo's unless someone else drives us. BUMMER!!! Being it was his right hip, he has to get used to going from gas to brake quickly before he's allowed out on a REAL road (192, Pleasant Hill, John Young) It's going to take a few more weeks to be able to do those roads. At least in our neighborhood, we could get to the Grille & Publix!!!!!!!! I might yet get to have a life! :emoticon 0137 clapping: :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

This is just about what we are dealing with AGAIN as far as the Air goes.
I had to
put on a N95 Mask while I was in my CAR on the way to the East side to get my haircut. My eyes were watery from the pollution. Weather folks are calling for yet another day of this on Friday.

Lee, Lu-Ann and DAVE & Kathi you guys better stay inside.
Bill/Rita: Not sure if the wind blew your way or not??

BB: Bert has progressed really quickly with this hip-replacement. Some folks his age would still be in a REHAB facility. Make sure he doesn't push too hard with getting in and out of the car and using muscles to push the brake and gas pedal.
You need to have Missy, Jimmy or Gary come by when they are off of work and take you out for a drive. (I know.... that's asking a lot.)

Gas prices went up already for the 4th of July Holiday that is 5 days away.

Kroger = $3.66 a gal
Costco = $3.34 a gal

I topped off my tank on the way home.

Off to make us some dinner. Later gang.

Good evening. Dinner came out good. I went to Publix today as I had a Rx ready, well it was 3 for me, 2 auto refill. Checked for Bruce's and not yet. So when he got home I told him to call the workman comp lady to see if she would do something about getting things going.

In a bit I will have Bruce put some gel on my upper arms and shoulders as they are hurting and it is hard to lift my arms.

Pat, I wish extra strength Tylenol worked. I can take 4 Ibuprofen and they won't do anything for the pain. I do have a pretty high tolerance for pain and that may be why normal meds don't work. The pain specialist gave me Meloxicam 15 mg and even after a week it did nothing, so I quit taking them.

All have a good night.

Good Friday morning!

It's good that Bert can drive, BB. But since it's only around your neighborhood, it's kind of like a kid can ride his bike but only if he uses training wheels. But at least you two can go to the Grille and Publix. You are only partially grounded now.

I'm glad you held onto your N95 masks, K2. Around here for the last few days people who work outside have been advised to wear N95s. Another suggestion when in your car, set the air conditioner to recirculate only the air inside your car. All cars have that button. I find it neat that you tried Lee's Chi-Gong. It looks to be relaxing. Come home with any purple highlights in your hair?

Lee; Hoping that your air quality has improved for this morning. Sorry Ava, on bad smokey days your Dad keeps you inside because he loves you. You'll have plenty of days this summer for long walks.

One of the granddaughters will be coming over this morning to make cupcakes. They'll be making them inside of cones that are made for ice cream. Kathi has some chef hats for them to wear so this aught to be cute.

And we will be expecting pictures Dave!
Our air topped out at 11+ last night. It is 4 now and still hazy. We couldn't tell if it was haze from smoke on the water or low lying clouds from temperature changes that was obscuring the view of the lake along The Detroit River.
Come on, you had to know there was a song in there too. If you're not into "rocking' out, just skip over it.

Well a little drive is better than no drive Pat. You two kids need one of those self driving Tesla's. Then Bert wouldn't need to use the accelerator and brake. Just tell it where to go, sit back and enjoy the ride.
So sorry that nothing seems to give you relief from the pain Nancy.
Good on you for trying Qi Gong Kathie. What I do like is the 7 minute routine we follow. As the instructor said "who doesn't have 7 minutes a day".
Better run. We have Lisa and Razzie's room to get ready!
Have a great Friday folks.

Good Mid-Morning Wrabbits!

Seems the AIR is a TAD bit better this morning. The Home Air Purifier is showing better air quality inside the house so far.

NO PURPLE hair coloring for me boys! Nice song Lee! :clap002:

Got the results from my back X-Ray I had done the other day. Seems my back so far isn't as bad off as I thought it would be. Nothing a Tylenol every so often can take care of!
I have a Nuclear test in July where they add some Radiation into your system and it will show better if anything needs to be addressed. These is ALL PREVENTATIVE scans ordered by the Oncologist. I think they like to scare you into getting these done or get a 'kick-back' from the testing area! :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

KAREN.... YOU'RE MISSING IN ACTION GIRL! You're either having too much fun or are busy pulling weeds! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile: Hope it's the 1st reason.

Art and I met up with Jill & Ashley & Manny at a halfway location to pick up fresh picked Strawberries from them. YUM. That puppy just loves to see us. Goes crazy and gives lots of kisses. Nice to be liked so intensely even if it is by a puppy! Ha Ha.

I'm off to balance the check-book and then the kitchen floor needs a washing!

You all have a good day.

Good Friday morning, gang!

Ready for the start of a sort of long holiday weekend? We've got nothing planned, so I won't be making salads or anything. At least at this point, that is. Around here plans are subject to change in an instant!
Here's a sweet one for you - Sunday is Jennifer's 10th birthday. When asked what she wanted for her birthday, she said she wanted to go to Mr & Mrs Crab for dinner. That's a place like Joe's Crab Shack and costs just as much. Her parents asked her if instead of going there, how about a seafood boil at home to which Jennifer agreed. That is until she found out the Bert & I wouldn't be there. Then she told her parents that she had one more wish for her birthday seafood boil and that was to have it here at our house so that (as she put it) Grandma can enjoy it too! When Missy told me this last night, it made me cry. Jennifer is such a thoughtful & loving little girl. I hope she always stays like that!

Kathie - Sorry you're back to having to wear a mask again, but this time for the quality of the air. I hope the winds once again shift in a different direction. I was talking to Joanne the other day and she said they were getting some of that smoke in NC and it made her eyes water when she went out of the house.

Nancy - That's too bad that over the counter meds don't ease your pain. Does alternating between heat and cold help?

Dave - That is so neat that Kathi and one of the granddaughters are making cupcakes in ice cream cones. I remember doing that once in a while for one of our kids' birthdays. Might be a fun thing to do with Nate & Jennifer one of these days too. I had forgotten about that. Of course, I would hope they'll be using the flat bottomed ice cream cones, right?

Lee - That's really bad when you can't tell the difference between haze and smoke on the river. Great song to start our day off!! Enjoy your visit with Lisa & Razzie.

Bill - How's the weather up your way? Did the rain finally go away? I need to send Rita an email. I'm getting that cruising bug again and I have to take care of it!! I was also reading about that new Utopia of the Seas coming to Port Canaveral next year for 3 and 4 day cruises. I hadn't heard of that one before. Only that the Icon of the Seas is coming, so seeing Utopia was a nice surprise. Last new ship starting in Port Canaveral was the Mariner that we were all on and how we got to know you and Rita!

Bert will continue to get in house PT for a few more weeks. Therapist is due any minute, so I better get this posted before I forget to do it!!

So far it appears that we are being spared the smoke and all the problems it is creating for K2, Dave, and Lee. Let's hope it stays that way. No rain so far and over the past few days it has only been sporadic showers sometime during the day, and more significant amounts over night. Temps are back in the 80's, so it seems that summer may finally be here for real.
We have changed trash collection companies and I was supposed to have the old company's barrels out at the end of my driveway by this morning. Naturally I forgot and so when I woke up and realized it, I quickly got dressed and put them out. Talk about timing. As I was going back in the garage to get the second barrel, the truck came down our street to pick them up.Whew!
Tomorrow is our HOA cookout and I believe that over 100 residents have signed up for it, so it should be a good time. It will be inside the clubhouse so weather won't be a factor.
Almost forgot that Blacklist was on last night but did remember just as it was about to start. Looks like they are building up to the final episode which will air sometime this month.
Glad to hear that Bert has been cleared to drive even if it his range is limited for the time being. As far as those self-drive cars go, I think I would feel more safe in a car that Bert was driving, even in his present situation than in one of those vehicles.

A late good morning.

Took the bags to Salvation Army then went to Winn Dixie. They have Rib Eye Steaks for 4.99 a pound with their card so I got 3 packs which is 7 meals, two of the packs were $14.57 for 5 meals, can't go wrong for that price for the two of us $5.08 a meal for 2.

Heat and ice don't really work for pain.

All have a great day.

Good evening. Tonight dinner was Antipasto salad. First day this week we did not have a temp of 100+. Of course it was high 90's.

Dave the cupcakes looks really good.

Nancy: Those roots are crushing the sprinkler pipe in that hole. Art has to keep digging to get to the connection in that area so he can repair the cracked rubber pipe tomorrow. All this so we can lower the dirt a little to put GRASS SEED in that area. Ha ha. Good thing Art has patience and knows what he's doing. I just kept bringing him something to drink and food and made him sit in the chair every so often. Amazing how big that ROOT WAS. He got another huge piece out and we were able to give it to the YARD WASTE truck when it came by for our weekly pick-up.

And like magic, yesterday afternoon the sky slowly turned blue. At least for a while.

With these wildfires suppose to last all summer long, I'm quite sure we'll be dealing with more bouts of heavy smoke.

I sure wish they'd standardize the scale of good to hazardous air. Lee, it seems the scale around you goes from one to around ten. The scale they use around here is from zero to 300. At its' worst around here it hit 290. At the moment we're below 100. Cool song Lee.

BB; How sweet of 10 year old Jennifer to want to include Granny in her birthday plans. Got a specific cruise picked out yet? I'd bet that now, almost every ship leaves fully booked.

How the heck are you dodging all the wildfire smoke Bill? Like you, I want NO part of those self driving cars.

That sure is one athletic squirrel, K2. His name doesn't happen to be Rocky? As in "Rocky The Flying Squirrel". That's one heck of a knot of roots that Art dug out.

Oh yea.......Do Art a favor. Buy him a new shovel! With a worn out tip on the one he has now it makes it look like it's at least 50 years old.

EARTH TO KC!!!

Good Mid-morning Wrabbits!

Air quality in the house is finally good. Not perfect, but good. Outside it is muggy.

Dave: The shovel was “my” grandfathers! It’s over 100 yrs old. They don’t make them like that anymore. I remember my grandfather using this shovel in the garden. I actually put duct tape around the handle yesterday to prevent the handle from splitting! Gramps would be proud of me for keeping it all these years!

Art found the junction where the sprinkler needs to get hooked up to. He said there is another HUGE ROOT SYSTEM right where he is working and he hopes he has enough room to get the new part in that area.

I’m off to go to the grocery store. Worst day to do this because of the holiday, but I can’t put it off any longer. The mask will be with me!

You all have a good day. Come back and tell us about it!

Good morning!

I sit here all alone this morning. Bert is off with M&J to Restaurant Depot to pick up more stuff for the seafood boil tomorrow for Jennifer's birthday. While there, Bert wants to pick up another box of snow crab clusters and a whole head of filet mignon. We have no steak left! Then once they're finished shopping, we'd life Missy to stay here and give a hand cleaning up for the party. I need her to give the bathroom a quick going over and put out new towels. I have no idea how man people are going to be here, but I do want things to look presentable.

Kathie - That's some root Art had to dig out. I bet he slept well last night. Your squirrel is very creative to get to the feeder. When we lived in Ocala, Bert's mother had a bird feeder on a pole with nothing around it. Squirrels used to climb the pole to get to the seeds. I finally greased the pole to see if that would help. It was great cheap fun watching the squirrel get part way up the pole and then slide down to the ground! I had to regrease the pole every couple of days because those squirrels were determined to get to that bird seed.

Dave - Great picture! Those cupcakes look so good. Definitely going to make a batch one of these days when the kids are here for the day. I do have a cruise picked out - 4 nighter on the Allure of the Seas out of Port Canaveral leaving October 30th. Only goes to Nassau and the private island, but it will let me know if I could do a longer cruise in the future. The Allure has always been my favorite ship, so we're really looking forward to it. M&J are considering coming with us, so that would be even better.

Bill - Enjoy the community doings today. Don't eat too much!! You know there was no way Bert was going to wait to drive the car again. He just had to go to Publix and do our weekly shopping. At least he used one of the ride on carts in the store. I'm sure within a few days he will be driving wherever he wants to, knowing him.

Nancy - Maybe heat and cold don't work for you, but it does work for everyone else I know and is a suggested method for pain. Bert has had to do it since he came home from the hospital after PT. That and 2 Tylenol worked wonders for him.

Can't believe with the 4th only a few days away we have not heard a single bit of fireworks being set off. We have 2 tents of fireworks just a mile away from us in either direction and they are doing their usual BOGO sales. Obviously, here they're not making much money. I sure do hope that changes on the 4th. I love looking at the fireworks over our lake!

Heard from G&E a little while ago. They just got off the Mariner this morning. They loved that ship and were thrilled with going to Aruba. I was thrilled that they were able to buy us 2 bottles of Grand Marnier on the ship. It's too darn expensive at the liquor stores around here.

Well, before the happy shoppers get back, I want to take care of a few things, the main of which is setting up my week's pill supply in my little container. Other than that, I'm sure I can find things that need to get done.

Have a fantastic day, everyone, no matter how you plan to spend your day. Be good & stay safe!
