It seems to have stopped raining. Sadly, the temperature has dropped like a stone in water and we sit in the middle of the 30’s as I type.
If there is a constant that I pick up from all of you, and my memory as well, President Carter is widely recognized as a very peaceful, caring people’s president. There is a lesson in there.
History in the shape of old buildings and their architecture can’t be brought back. Too many cities and towns were quick to rear down old buildings in the name of progress. Amherstburg included. BUT, in many places that history is being renovated and saved.
Having travelled with, at first, three Greyhounds we always tried to get from home to Florida as quickly and efficiently as possible. That cut out many side trips for sightseeing and stopping at attractions along the way. But once we are in Florida you are right Dave. There are places we look forward to visiting every year and have introduced others to. Like True Blue Winery to name but one. Speaking of liquids, how are your waterworks “going”?
While we may complain about our taxes here in Canada they do go, in part, to fund our health care. Seniors, of which I have become one, pay $4.11 for prescriptions once we have met the annual $100 deductible.
We leave Thursday morning Kathie. While I75 is the quickest route the hotels in and around Lexington either don’t allow pets or are expensive for what you get. Or both. So we venture over to Louisville to The Drury where the price includes a nice clean room, dinner, a glass of wine, breakfast and Ava is welcomed. Once the desk folks meet our well behaved little Ava, as they did with our Greys, they often waive the pet fee. Cutting over to Louisville really only adds about 20 minutes each way to the entire trip. Friday we’ll head to our second stop at The Drury by the Atlanta airport. Believe it or not it’s the least expensive of the Drury properties in the Atlanta area. Saturday morning we head to Kissimmee and our home away from home. Total drive for the 1240 miles is about 18 1/2 hours not counting rest stops.
If that sounds like an ad for Drury Inns, well, I guess it is. We have always found the staff to be great, rooms are clean and not having to go out for dinner or breakfast is a nice bonus too.
Speaking of Ava, guess who has graced me with her presence this morning? Time to let her out and get her breakfast going.
Geez, I seem to have rambled today. I need to take a lesson from Karen’s Father John and keep it short!
Have a fantastic day everyone.
