Hi,

Stopping to say hello.

BB, nice that you are considering the TA....it really does have wonderful ports. We are looking at Alaska for June 2010with a 5 night pre-cruise, but if I wasn't doing that, I would do the TA.

Tony, you are correct in that this year's TA cancelled Newfoundland...we've been there twice, but I wouldn't mind going again. Yes, Belfast is still on the itinerary for this year along with Iceland.

I've heard the JW repo from Boston to Florida will be only 7 days in 2010. I 've heard Boston to Bermuda to Florida, but can't confirm. I wish it were longer, but some folks will be happy with the 7 days.

See ya'll later....more laundry is calling my name.

Still trying to decide on the JW TransAtlantic and a Celebrity 14 night Canada / New England.

PH, I don't think the RD is as nice as the last two. SR and JW are my favorites.

Good morning!

Have fun running around and packing, PH. I need to do some shopping for our up coming cruise. It's been a while since I "upgraded" the wardrobe. I think this would be a good week to start!

Oh, I wasn't suggesting that the RD is bad.....it's just that I think the last two are a little nicer. I remember BR being nice too, but that was a long time ago.

Man, I have a long way to go before I get to pack and leave on a ship.

happy shopping, BB.

I think I just started a new company!!! It's called RENT A HUSBAND! I just sent Bert to a friend's house to find out why her yard is filling with water. She's pretty sure it's a broken irrigation pipe, but has no idea how to find it. Sooo ... In comes RENT A HUSBAND to the rescue!:thumb

San - Funny you should mention Brilliance. That was so long ago, I really don't remember very much about that ship. Biggest thing I remember is that the staff was not up to par and were doing a lot of complaining. Sad that that is a main memory!

OK BB, I guess we will be able to talk about anything we want over the next few days, Huh? Uh oh, she's still here:D.....bon voyage PH....have a safe trip.

I don't remember any problems on BR.....just that the whole ship completely shut down twice.....once while we were leaving somewhere in Norway. Capt Wildung was having fits about that......and Roland seemed to be in the middle of it all. Plus we touched bottom in Geiranger Fjord while they were trying to work on an Azipod which had a fishing net tangled in it. Other than that......smooth sailing.

Kathy, enjoy your cruise! I'll try to keep the SOTE folks in line while you're gone! It'll be tough!

Tony, same thing happened to us on Constellation TA. Lost power twice during dinner one night.....dining room went completely dark, emergency lighting came on, lights back on, then same thing happened again. Scary thing to have happen in the middle of a crossing!

Just booked Alaska on RD for June 2010 along with cruisetour #11 - 5 nite pre cruise to Fairbanks, Denali, Talkeetna and Anchorage. Only place we haven't been is Talkeetna, but this seemed like the best tour for the money. Also want to do a couple of post cruise nights in Vancouver.

RCI has reconfigured it's cabin categories. D1's will hold more than 2 people, and D2's will only hold 2 (and will be cheaper).
Booked D 1's first because the cabins we liked were unavailable,, so we waitlisted for them. Waitlist cleared overnight, got the cabins we wanted originally, and the price went down $95 per person. WOO HOO! Given that this is about an $8000 trip, even a savings of $95 per person was welcome. I hope the prices come down, but I don't have much hope for that, as the cruisetour we picked is probably the most popular, so the old supply and demand will come into play. Oh well, better to spend it than to lose it in the stockmarket!

Has anyone done a RCI cruisetour in Alaska? We've done Princess (and had a great time), but I have some questions about the RCI tour, regarding luggage and other mundane stuff. I can call the cruisetour desk, but sometimes the people on the phones don't have a clue.

See you all tomorrow.

Morning......waiting for my friend to come pick me up...........

I noticed they changed the configurations on the RD,Rita.........I didnt know it was based on number of people in the cabin.....To me,it seemed the D2s were all humps and afts......and I thought that was great since they are cheaper.....live and learn.............

Never done a cruisetour in Alaska.........That sounds so nice.......if we didnt do this one,we were looking at Alaska........

Well, hope everyone behaves!!

Bet I missed PH.:( She certainly has a beautiful day to be starting a cruise.

Rita - Lucky you to be doing Alaska with a cruisetour included. That's the way we would do it, IF we ever went to Alaska. We've been rethinking the TA for next year. There's no way in h*ll I'm doing a 14 day cruise with Bert alone! We have 2 different agendas on a cruise ... He sits on the balcony reading and I like to be socializing out and about on the ship. By the end of the trip I'd probably have murder on my mind!!!::eek: Now Kris & Gary are rethinking our 9/20 Freedom trip this year, so that might be in for a change too for the same reason. They're looking at a cheaper Carnival cruise. Good thing we have lots of time before final payment to make a decision.

Time for another cup of coffee ...

Good morning.

We've never done a cruise tour in Alaska either. I tend to do those things on my own......as I am a SotE cheapskate.

Beautiful day here....mid sixties and sunny.......would be a nice day for a cruise.

Good to know about D1 / D2.....guess there's more people doubling up because of the economy, so they decided to stick it to them!

Ya gotta love the cruiseline's mind set and how they treat their customers! Can you feel the love???

So what's the SotE up to today? Just got back from my most unfavorite store - WalMart. Wasted our time, as they didn't have what I wanted. I did get to see lots of Vanilla's relatives though!

Went to breakfast with my friend Mike up in Morgan Hill.....two and a half hour breakfast!

Came home....checked the computer.....now, I have to get some things done around here.

We own some Walmart stock, and we have a super store in Gilroy.....so we try to get more stuff there.....brand name stuff is pretty good....and self checkout here works pretty fast. Their appliances and TVs are the same brands as Costco.....but a couple of bucks cheaper.

Still trying to decide on TA....it all depends on what john and Angelia do......Angeline can't go because of her teaching job.

Sounds like my kind of breakfast ... Good company and good food! Sorry I couldn't help your WalMart stock out today. They carry a brand of sandals that I really like. Unfortunately, they didn't have my size in the color I wanted, but they had my size in a color (green!) that I didn't want. Maybe tomorrow I'll check one or two of the other WalMarts in the area after I get my hair cut.

Looks like it will be a quiet evening around here. I hope there's something good on TV.

Weird this morning ... For a while I was unable to get on here or CC. Wonder what that's all about?

Haircut at noon, shopping this afternoon, and off to the Grill this evening. Looks like a good day ahead!

Well, there's no RCs around.....and you and I are only SotEs.....so, no real incentive for C-A to make us a priority:cool:

Hey, you must be right Tony, I had no problems getting on here or CC this morning(OOPS, sorry, I'm only a RC by marriage).

Hey, BB, how about going to Alaska with us.....you'll see some of the same folks we had on the JW repo last year. You would have lots of people to talk to while Bert enjoys his book!

Just got another discount on our JW TA this year.....another 200 off for us, because they upped our air price $110 pp. Drives me crazy....you can't combine breakthru air with "balcony specials" prices. What difference does it make? They offered us air at 649 when we booked, now they want to charge us 759 for the same thing. Nuts! Still saved some off the bottom line, so that makes it OK, I guess. Others going with us (who were already paying the higher air price) saved more off their bottom line, but their bottom line was higher than ours to begin with. Now we are all at the same pricing, except for p/d discounts. I will be looking for air on our own, but right now the cruiseline air is cheaper than AA or VA Boston to London. We did OK with the pre-cruise tour, though. RCI was charging $732 pp for 3 nites at the City Inn. I booked it thru a tour company for less than $600 PER COUPLE, sa savings of $800 per couple. Only thing we have to pay for is our transfers, and we got a very nice deal on private transfers, so we are ending up saving a whole bunch of dollars. Now, if I had converted our leftover pounds and euros when we got back last September, I would be doing well, but we said we'd save them for this year. Big mistake, given the exchange rate now! Probably lost a bit on that. I guess you win some, lose some.

Now you two, behave yourselves.

Rita
