Another summer-like day in Massillon today. We're sure getting spoiled. Mostly sunny and in the mid 80's. Lots of pollen but still low humidity.

Glad to hear that your hosing down the trees cut down on pollen on the deck and outside furniture, K2. Nothing wrong with wearing your mask now that we don't have to if we're fully vaccinated. I still wear mine when we're out.

Sorry to hear that your foot is puffing up Lee. People use way too much salt themselves and it's overly added to packaged foods. The only surprise finding we discovered when moving drawers yesterday was a bag of give-aways by the oil company with the name and logo on them. Everything from a fidget-spinner to a clamp for opened potato chip bags, to a Frisbee.

We have 3 Rhododendron bushes. 2 ten foot tall pink ones and one orange one that's only about 3 feet tall. The pink one on the north side of the house blew up in flowers a couple of weeks ago, while the other 2 in the pool area are just taking off this week.

KC; I too hope that your sister will take care of the chemicals and cleaning of her new pool. I think that "Sparkplug" is the coolest name for a pet.

Good customer service by UPS indeed, BB. If that bottle or two of wine busted in the delivery person's truck it must have been a mess. Hope that nobody else's stuff got damaged.

Carpet install day, finally. The guys should be here between 8 & 10. The doggies aren't going to like it since they'll be spending time only in the dining-room/kitchen area. Eventually they'll calm down once they get bored from seeing the invaders to their territory.

Good morning...it's going to be a long day! Woke up before 6...stayed in bed till almost 7 then gave up & went outside & did the re-coat on the end of the drive....I don't think it's going to look as good as I'd hoped...but hopefully it will at least look better...it's covered in plastic to help it stay damp & cure....tomorrow morning I will uncover it & get the final picture...time for a 2nd cup of coffee & some breakfast...I'll check back with you all later

A quick good morning.
Another somewhat sleepless night. The pups were down to The Navy Yard. We came back and Lu-Ann is giving the little lawn mower a go before the temps climb too much.
After my call with The Doc yesterday I have another lab appointment today. Tom wants to make sure I don't have a kidney infection. Lu-Ann has an ultra sound after that. Tomorrow we have to go to London for an appointment for Lu-Ann. I'm not supposed to drive so I can only go for the ride and to be
company.
With all of the appointments we have to go to I'll likely see you all on Saturday.
Stay safe and sane my friends.

Good Morning Wrabbits! Another PURE MICHIGAN DAY for us here. Almost hard to believe after so many cold ones.
I'll be planting the POSEY'S I bought yesterday. Oh and a couple of tomato plants too. They never do real well because we don't get full sun in the garden area, so this year I'm putting one of the tomato plants in a huge planter I have and putting up by the deck. Let's hope it produces some tomatoes.

Karen: I'm sure all your hard work on the driveway will look just fine. It's better than have a crack and the water washing out the slab. At least it's at the "end" of the driveway and by the time you drive up to go into the garage you won't even see the difference in the surface. Just be glad you didn't dish out $2000 - 3000. bucks for the job. YUP, Jane has just joined the MONEY PIT CLUB that are slaves to their POOL. Tell her she still can get out of the deal and just use the pool at your condo! Ha Ha. After she gets this pool set up I can see Jane paying to have a deck put up around part of it so she can have steps to walk up to the top easier. Not sure how she expects to get into this pool without something sturdy around at least half of it. MORE MONEY!! :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

DAVE: By the time you read this the carpet guys will be there and have half the place carpeted. Aww yes, the smell of new carpet. It's like the smell of a new car! ENJOY the BOUNCE!

Lee: Hope you're able to get over to the park today. It's going to be nice on BOTH sides of the Detroit River! We like to share our good temps with our Canadian family! :emoticon 0136 giggle: WOW....I just read your post that popped up as I am typing. You and Lu-Ann are going through what Art and I went through last year. One Doctors appt after another and one TEST after another. It got to be a joke when we looked at the desk calendar every morning. It's still not perfect, but this week we both KNOCKED OFF ONE DOCTOR each with the message " No need to make another appointment. See you AS NEEDED"! That's 2 less appointments.
I know it's not easy, but try and work your life around these appointments. It will get better. Be grateful it's warm and bright outside and not gloomy Winter. Take care! If it makes you feel any better I was up going to the bathroom through the night because I took the damn water pill too. And my PUFFY SWOLLEN FOOT/ANKLE is still puffy. Always something.

PAT: What's cooking for today? LOL

I'm out of here. Those flowers aren't going to plant themselves.

Bill and Rita: If you think you can ditch us that quickly....you're wrong. I'll keep bugging you to come back on here and give us a update on how things are going with you two. Hope all is okay.

Good news is that Rita will be coming home today. Have arranged for a home health aid 24/7 at least until we can see how things are going. The local VNA will also make visits to provide physical therapy and whatever medical care she may require initially. On the way home from the rehab facility I will swing by the house we are buying so that she can see it in person.

Good morning! Looks like I'm the last bunny checking in this morning. That figures as I slept in until after 9. It felt good.

Bill - I'm sure Rita is about ready to burst with the idea of going home today. Heck, last time I talked to her, she was ready to sign herself out and that was about 2 weeks ago. I'm sure she'll crawling u the wall to get out of there. I'll give her a call in a couple of days giving her time to get settled.

Karen - I do hope your sister is putting a couple of inches of sand under her pool. Otherwise a rock or stone couple tear the liner very easily. That's a pretty big pool for just one person. She planning a neighborhood pool party? Can't wait to see how the end of your driveway came out.
I do hope your AC is in tiptop shape for this coming week. They're calling for 98-99 degree temps up in the Ocala area and ONLY 97 by us. That figures. Bert wants to get into deep cleaning around here next week, so it looks like our AC will be in the range of 65 during the day so we can keep cool. As long as we aren't sweating, I will be a happy camper.

Lee - Good luck with all those doctor visits you and Lu-Ann have these next few days. At least you'll be getting out and seeing something different after all this time. I know it's bad for you, but there are some things that I just have to use salt in. Making pasta is one of them, as well as on eggs. Of course, boiled peanuts are boiled in lots of salt, but I don't eat that much of them. Bert on the other hand drives me crazy because he immediately salts everything even before tasting food. I keep telling him to cut back, but he sneaks the salt when I'm not looking.

Dave - How's that carpet install going? I hope the dogs are behaving with all the in and out going on. And just think - After the installers leave, you and Kathi have to put everything back in place.

Our dinner last night at Tarantino's was excellent. Plus we all had leftovers to bring home! That will be lunch today. Waiting for a delivery of some wine from another company we always order from, so no going out until the wine arrives. We also need to make a run to Sam's again, so I can pick up, you guessed it, a case of the wine I drink in the evening. All these other cases get doled out slowly by Bert. What a PITA!!!

Better get a move on. I desperately need a cup of coffee. Have a wonderful day, everyone!

NEGC: Well it's no wonder you haven't been posting on here lately. We all thought RITA was getting released 2 weeks ago. YIKES I hope she's okay? Good move on getting help at the condo when she gets home. Money well spent. We wouldn't want anything to happen to either of you when trying to get her from bedroom to bathroom, etc, etc. Just not worth the risk. Give her my HELLO's and I'll call her after she's been home for awhile.
Take care of yourself. All this can't be easy on you. Try and take it one day at a time. :loveya:

Morning Wabbits!

Happy to hear that Rita finally made it home yesterday, Bill. Please explain to me what "VNA" stands for. And refresh our memories as to you when you move into your house. Hope Rita liked it when you drove by it yesterday.

Looking forward to seeing your before and after pictures of your driveway fix, KC.

Lee; With all your doctor visits it must be like playing a card game. Every morning you wake up, you pick a card to see what doctor or test you do that day.

Yes K2, FINALLY we can get some posies and plant them without fear of frosts. What kind of flowers did you get, and their color?

BB; The carpet did get put in and it looks and feels great. Same two installers that we had last time. Showed up around 8:45 and left at 12:30. I think the hardest part of their job is lugging the heavy furniture out of and back into the rooms. And in some cases taking it apart, as was the case with our bed. Because the carpet is so plush and the padding so thick 2 sliding closet doors will need to be trimmed off at the bottom.

Kathi and I are both a bit sore this morning from removing the smaller furniture and removing drawers. With clothes in them they can be quite heavy. We ran out of gas yesterday and didn't get everything back in place. We'll finish today.

But that's after we do our grocery pick-up in a bit.

Running low on steam this morning....this week has just been non-stop running, so today I said enough...not going anywhere....even turned down a lunch date with the pool crowd cause I just needed a break...
Here are the before & after pic's of the driveway...the after pictures look a little odd because I watered the grass this morning & the drive got wet and hadn't dried completely when I took the pictures...it's not perfect by any means...but I do think it looks better. I still have a dip at the end of the drive by the road that I "MAY" try to level out more later...but I used all my patch mix, so probably not..

Hi GANG!

Karen your driveway looks great. Add CEMENT RE-FINISHING onto your resume girl!

And Karen is right about VNA = Visiting Nurse
Association !

DAVE: Good to know the carpet job is done. Now enjoy bouncing around on the plush new carpets. YUP.......those darn doors are going to be a PAIN to either raise up or trim at the bottom. I know you can only turn that screw at the bottom so much to raise them up. Time to call the Handy Dandy Nephew for a quick fix. Hopefully, he can fit you in soon enough. At least he knows you PAY WELL! $$ And since it's in the bedroom you can deal with it until he shows up.

I'll have to take pictures of the flowers I planted Dave. I don't remember the names. I just pick them by color and if I like them! LOL

Okay, I'm out of here. Just wanted to stop by to say hello.
Lee: Hope you are doing well with all your appointments. Hang in there buddy. It will get better. The good part is your ALIVE and WELL! You can deal with the rest. :clap002:

Need to take Art over to Costco to get new GLASSES....finally. He needs me to help find FRAMES that aren't too weird looking! Ha Ha.

Later.........Get outside and enjoy the day. Oh and be SAFE.

WOW....I just got a call from my Urologist doctors office. She needs me to get a COVID screening before this simple out-patient procedure I'm having done June 2nd. So next Friday I go to get the NOSE SWAB done. YIKES.....I hope I don't have any of the variants floating around out there! I'll let you know my results. Actually, I'm kind of glad to get this Covid test done. It'll reassure me that the Vaccine is actually working..... or NOT! :embarrassed:
Always something!!

Good barely morning! Not moving too fast around here this morning due to having been awake twice during the night and then taking about an hour to fall back to sleep. Waiting for another delivery of wine today and once we get that, it's time to go pick up a few things from Sam's and Publix for our seafood boil on Sunday and stop at Jersey Mike's for a sub. It's not often I can get Bert to go there, but he's the one who suggested it, so I'm all in on that one. Their subs are pricy, but they are definitely the best subs around, especially a giant #13 Italian combo.

Dave - We had to do the same thing trimming the doors in all the bedrooms closets when we originally got carpet in NJ. At least here the doors were trimmed before we moved in. Then we got rid of all the carpets and put in hardwood and tile floors. Sorry you're a bit achy from all the stuff you and Kathi had to do to get things back together. Good idea to take a break too. We forget that we're not as young as we used to be and tend to overdo things.

Karen - Good for you to make this a ME type day. Sometimes we just need to walk away from everything for a day to recharge our battery. I hope you told your sister that you don't intend to take care of her pool. Having had an above ground pool it is much different from an in the ground one. And don't get me going on a ladder going into the pool. I hated having to climb that. Is your sister sure she's going to be able to do that? I sure wouldn't want to do that now. Your repair of the driveway looks really good. Much better than it was and all the money you saved doing it yourself.
I forgot to mention the name of the wine company I ordered the wine from. It's called Splash Wines. Check them out.

Bill - So what does Rita think of the new house? I sure hope she likes it. Nice that she will have VNA to help her get back in the groove of things and to give you a bit of peace of mind knowing she's being cared for someone besides yourself. Give her a hug for me.

Lee - I hope all goes well with your doctor visit today. This is also the day for the long ride with Lu-Ann, isn't it? Both of you stay safe as you're out and about.

Well, I see I didn't get this posted before noon, so I'll be the first to wish you all a good afternoon. Time for some lunch and then just wait for this delivery. I sure hope UPS doesn't screw up this delivery!!

Have a great Friday, no matter what you're doing. Stay safe and try to do something fun today. :smiley15: :emoticon 0137 clapping:

One step forward and two steps back it seems. We got Rita home and settled in yesterday afternoon and a home health aide arrived to stay with her overnight and be available to assist her in getting in and out of the hospital bed we set up in the downstairs family room where there is also a bathroom. At about midnight the aide woke me to tell me that in the process of getting out of bed to go to the bathroom, she slid down to the floor, and we were unable to get her up on her feet. Had to call 911 (over her loud objections) and the EMTs arrived and were able to get her up and into the ambulance and take her to the hospital ER. Lisa and I both spoke to the ER nurse this morning and it appears that they discovered some blood clots in her lungs so they are treating her and will, at some point today, transfer her to a regular room in the hospital. Either Lisa or I will be able to see her once that happens. The hospital has revised its visitation policy somewhat and whereas when she was there last month, only a single designated individual was allowed to visit during her stay, they now allow her one visitor a day and it can be a different person each day. That means either I, Lisa, Kevin, or other family members can see her. No word as yet as to how long she will be hospitalized or when se will be back home for good. I did take her to see our new home enroute to the condo and she was very happy with it. Hopefully that will encourage her to do whatever is necessary to get better and get home. She has always been the caretaker and it has been difficult for her to accept that she his now the one who needs care and who needs to follow the dictates of the medical professionals.
Wish I had better news to report but I thought I should update everyone on the latest developments.

Oh no, Bill! I feel so sorry for Rita and you also. Knowing Rita, I'm sure she fought tooth and nail not to have 911 called and having to go back to the hospital. At least with the change in visiting policy, everyone can have a day to visit. I hope this is just a blip in the road and that she will get to come home again soon. Give her my love.

Bill, will you please tell Rita she does not have to pay for the Dr's yacht or mortgage all on her own!! I'm so sorry to hear she is back in the hospital again...but glad they caught those blood clots...that could have been very bad!

Pat, Hope the wine arrives safely today...I will check out that site you buy from, sounds like excellent customer service for sure!

Dave, hope you & Kathi aren't to sore...just take your time putting stuff back. Like you said, now is a good time to sort & toss. Bet your place has that "new house" smell with new carpet in the bedrooms too.

Lee, sure hope they can get all your bloodwork figured out, hopefully there is nothing serious going on & it's all a result of your surgery. Enjoy the ride today!

Kathie, I don't think I will be adding cement refinisher to my resume anytime soon...it looks ok...but not great....I wouldn't want to pay for a job that looked like that...but it IS better than before so that's the main thing. Hope your covid test goes ok...

It's kind of nice just staying home & doing nothing for a change...I did walk over to the grocery store behind me to get some cream of chicken soup...I am making chicken pot pie for dinner tonite & didn't have any soup.
Yesterday we had scheduled a guy to give Jane an estimate for leveling the ground & setting up her new pool...it was set up for 5 pm....and as to often the case here in Flori-duh....the guy never showed up! I sent him a message at 5:35 asking if he was still coming& it took him till 6 to respond that he got "wrapped" up in another project....BUT he could put my sister on his schedule & start leveling the ground....I told him No thanks! If he couldn't even show up or call to give an estimate I sure wouldn't trust him to show up after he had been given money...he did later apologize & say he should have called, but no way were we going to give him another chance!! We have 3 more guys lined up tomorrow & tues to give her an estimate...hopefully at least 1 of them will show up...it's so pretty here today I think a little reading on the back porch is next on the agenda...have a great Friday all!

Here we've sat all day and UPS never delivered the wine I ordered! Supposed to have been here by 4:45. You can't get to talk to a real person just the "virtual assistant". We had planned to go to Sam's and then Jersey Mikes, but that's not going to happen tonight. Now I have to figure out what to do about dinner!!! I really hate dealing with UPS. Grrrr....

Checking out for tonight. I'll see you all in the morning. :)

Negc: My heart goes out to you and of course to RITA. She just can't seem to get ahead of the game these days. Glad she went to the hospital and they can keep a look-out on the blood clots in the lungs.
I often wonder if they send out a strong enough person that can handle lifting a person out of bed. I hope she can get some physical therapy while in the hospital so all her time in the Rehab place doesn't disappear.
Prayers to both of you. I'm glad Rita liked the house. Hope the new house doesn't have a lot of carpet.
Take care and keep us up to date as to what the heck is going on over your way. :)

Lee: Hope your day went well for you and Lu-Ann. Lots of running around for appointments. Never fun.

BB: Bummer on the NO SHOW for the Wine Delivery. Once it does make it to the house don't drink it all at one setting! :wink3:

Dave: I do know that I bought Cosmo's, Wax Begonias, Petunias that are suppose to spread and trail for the 2 deck boxes and some Snap Dragons.

Saturday should be a back and knee breaking day for me. I'm going to use my long Garden drill with the bit on it that helps make the holes. That pulled ligament or whatever the heck it is in my right knee/leg area will appreciate me taking it easy on it.

Karen GOOD FOR YOU TAKING a "ME DAY"! You deserve it. Hope you can get over to the pool and just chill out in it. Maybe they'll let you use a floatie raft and you can just relax in the water. If not do you have one of those boards that you push in front of you that you can lean on?

I have a story, but I'm going to open another post to tell it in case anybody just wants to skip over it.

Have a safe SATURDAY all. Oh....we did get Art's glasses ordered. One more thing off the to do list.

So around 4:00 pm on Friday I drove up 24 Mile Rd (7 miles) to George & Marie's house to drop off a Blueberry-Lemon Loaf I made for them the other day. I had talked to Marie while she has been at her daughters the last 2 weeks around the clock and she said that George was suppose to drive over to be with them for 2 days. Great time to take over the Goodies.
Well, I get halfway up his driveway and I see George sitting on a chair and his face is FULL OF BLOOD! I stopped and opened the door and said "GEORGE ARE YOU ALRIGHT"? He said: "Yeah, why wouldn't I be? I told him that his FACE WAS dripping in blood. He looked at me like I was nuts. I told him to stay put and I ran into their kitchen and got wet paper toweling. I gently removed the blood that had started to get hard on his face and entire nose, chin, etc. I showed him and he said...."Oh I fell while working on the front flower bed. NO KIDDING!
I guess his legs don't bend like they use to and they buckled and he had no choice put to fall flat on his face. His hands weren't able to break the fall.
George is a VERY VERY HEAVY PERSON! His glasses did the cutting of the bridge of his nose and a few other scratches. He was thankful for me cleaning him up. I stayed there about a 45 mins talking to him at the edge of his garage area. I wanted to make sure he didn't have a concussion. He had me call Marie at their daughters. Like she needed ONE MORE THING TO WORRY ABOUT. She said she will be coming home Sat morning. She hired a nurse to be with her daughter at night from 11:00pm to 7:00 am so she could get some sleep and not worry about anything bad happening to Mary. Saturday and Sunday Mary's dear wonderful friend will take her Mom's place and be with Mary.
Now I know this was long and most likely nothing you folks really need to know about my friends, but I wanted to put it out there so we are GRATEFUL for what we are all able to do. And that we shouldn't do things we aren't suppose to do.

Marie is finally using her head and getting help with her daughter who is very very sick. I'm glad I was able to help George out. I'm glad we've been friends for a lifetime. Like back when we were youngsters. I just wish all this wasn't happening to such good people.

Okay, again........thanks for letting me type this all out. It helps me deal with what's going on and be more grateful for things in my life.

You all be very careful and know that I love you all like my own family. :)

Nite for now.
And goodnight to Tony & Marcia & Carl too. Watch over us "earthlings" please!

Another weekend rolls around?

Geesh Bill, you guys deserve a break. Something tells me that Rita is already planning her escape from the hospital.
1f609.png
Although it is a good place to be when blood clots in her lungs are found.

Thanks so much for the before & after pictures of your driveway, KC. Although you may not consider yourself much of a cement re-finisher, I think it came out rather good. The only way to make it perfect is to dig out all the cement and put back in all new. Your fix did the trick for the price. Being a thin layer of cement do you need to put on it a cement sealer?

Yes K2, Kathi did text our "Handy Dandy Nephew" to please trim off the the bottom of those closet doors when he's here to build our new shed. I too can't remember the names of most flowers. So I always keep the name tags of flowers I frequently buy. I for one thank you for sharing your experience of finding your friend with a problem he didn't know he had. You were a good friend indeed. And showed up at the perfect time to help him out.

One thing I learned a long time ago; DO NOT get between BB and her wine. I also got spoiled by our in-ground pool. I'd forgotten about what a pain in the butt it must be to have to climb a ladder to get into an above-ground pool.

Any updates on your test results or doctor's visits, Lee?

Since I'm still running low on energy after moving around so much stuff and smaller furniture last week, I may lie low again today. I overdid it more than I thought. Thinking about it made me wonder if I let my male ego get in my way. Kathi is only 5 years younger than me but she was zooming around here moving stuff at a faster pace than I was. And I caught myself not sitting down and taking a short break, because I was trying to keep up with her. Dumb move on my part.
