I am one stuffed lil piggy tonite.... we have got to start cutting back on the amount of food we fix when we get together...we just don't eat like we used to...but we think we need all the food we always had at picnics...we had hamburgers, cole slaw, macaroni salad, baked beans, deviled eggs, water melon & corn on the cob....and none of even ate the corn after it was cooked..we fixed our plates & sat outside on the patio....it was so nice & breezy late this afternoon...and we had cherry pie & ice cream for dessert...lot's of left overs to share among the 3 of us....
Took my cat's with me to Jane's as I just wasn't comfortable leaving them behind...they did NOT enjoy the ride at all....
Got home about 6:30 and poor SP was whining & ready to go out side....but he didn't have an accident in the garage...
Jane got an email from the pool guy this evening confirming her appt. for the pool set up for tomorrow...so MAYBE....it will really get done this time...I know she will be thrilled to have it finished...now I am going to take the dog out one last time & then get comfy...I think it will be an early night tonite...may not sleep with all the boomers but at least I can stretch out & relax!

Good Monday morning Bunnies!

So sorry to hear that 16 year Firecracker passed, BB. More than enough time to fully be part of the family, and the sadness that comes with his passing. It is ironic that he died on the 4th.

I'm too am so aware of how much less we eat now, KC, than we did when we were younger. Just last night Kathi cooked up just one steak for both of us, and half of my half is now in the frig for this morning's breakfast. Is it me or is Sparkplug a bit on the cranky side? I'll have my fingers crossed that that pool is finally getting put up.

Thanks so much for posting your recipe for your
"special baked beans", K2. Looks like you, Lee, and I are heading into another round of super humidity and hot temperatures. For us in Massillon it will be at least for today and tomorrow.

"Dave, you must be a mind reader! How did you know our Canadian calendar had a July 4th too?" I thought you would have figured out by now Lee, I'm a natural genius.
1f61c.png
So how did the doggies do yesterday with the fireworks?

Didn't do much yesterday except putting the charger on my car's battery. I had that thing on there for 2 hours and it didn't charge it enough to light up the dome light or make the electric door lock work. So today's only goal it to take the battery out and take it to my mechanic to see if it's totally dead.

Last night I watched the fireworks over Washington DC. I thought that the fireworks at Biden's inauguration was the best display I'd ever seen. But last night's was even better than that. Plus we once again got to see Biden and his lovely wife standing together on the White House balcony watching them.

Around our neighborhood it was unusually quit during the day, but they sure cut loose last night.

Hi Gang.
Wow…it’s so quiet. Ha ha.

It’s going to be a HOT and HUMID day today. Worst one of the week from what the weather folks have been blasting us with.
Sweating Heat Wave GIF by Thoka Maer

Stay cool folks.

Dave: make sure you only do the Battery Job and that’s it.

Lee: Hopefully, you had the pups out to the park already. How did they do with the fireworks last night. We had one Village Idiot blast off a M80 at 11:57 pm last night. Must have been on his way to bed and decided to blast off one more for good measure.

Karen: Hope your Animal Farm made it through the night. I think we need to find Penelope and Pedro and send them over to your house to stay for awhile. Ha ha.

Pat: So did the family eat up all your good food? Jennifer looked like she had a really nice Birthday party. She’s really grown up in this last year.
Hope you take it easy today. (Like that will ever happen).

Bill/Rita: It really is a-shame you guys can’t take a second and stop by. Sure hope everything is going alright over in the new house. Take care.

I’m going to EDGE the shrubs on the walkway of the side of the house that goes to the backyard. Don’t want to have to look at it while I’m off my feet for 2 weeks.
Then I will need a shower. It’s 87F here already and climbing.
I want to go to the grocery store and get some milk, english muffins and lettuce. That might have to wait until later tonight when the sun goes down. Just too hot to do in the middle of the day.

I saved us enough BEANS to have with our dinner tonight. Better get the Beano out! Ha ha.
You all have a safe and nice day.

Hope you got the e-mail with the neighbor playing the Bag Pipe for Artie. It was really cool. If you watch the video long enough you can see the fireworks above his head. Amazing combination.

Later.

Good morning and happy day after the 4th!!

We had a fantastic day yesterday after a small funeral service at the "pet cemetery" at the side of our house. M&J and the kids said their thing and the kids picked flowers to lay on the grave. And once that was done, they all morfed into party mode!
All I can say is that these people can eat, but the good news is that there's still plenty of leftovers. M&J will be back today and G&E with bring up the rear tomorrow. Hopefully, by then most of it all will be gone.

Kathie - The salami rose came out great and at first the gang were hesitant to start eating it, but once they did, it was history, as was everything else on the charcuterie board and we didn't even have Elaine's boys here to help eat it.
Thanks for that baked bean recipe. I might have to give that a try one of these days.
I behaved and was the supervisor for the day. I sure would have made a great head chef delegating work to all the worker bees. I had them hopping in all directions when it came time to get the food out. Turned out to be a pretty nice day, so we were able to eat outside and to hold Jennifer's party out there too.

It really wasn't very noisy here until about 8 and then the whole neighborhood became alive with the sound of things exploding. Unfortunately, most of it was over areas we couldn't see and with very little over the lake this year. The whole gang left before the fireworks started, as Bert wouldn't let them set off anything here. Party pooper!!! All I can say is the security would have had their hands full last night if they had enforced the no fireworks rule! Everything was pretty much over and done shortly after 10 here. Then it was time for me to watch the Macy's fireworks display and I just started the one from the capital before I called it quits for the night.

Jimmy left the boiled peanuts in the cooker over night so they could absorb more of the salt. He'll pull some our today and then flavor the rest with Slap Ya Momma or Cajun seasonings to give them a real boost.

Karen - So did the guy show up this morning for the pool? I hope so. Great picture of you in your 4th of July outfit. That's some tan you've gotten! smart move taking the kitties with you yesterday. Glad SP behaved while you were gone, but sorry to hear he did a bit of damage the your door frame the other day.

Dave - Sounds like your battery may be a goner! Might have a dead cell from lack of use. Don't overdo it getting it checked out. How are you feeling now that the meds have had a chance to start working? Better I hope.

Lee - Sounds like the heatwave is back on in Canada. Try to keep cool and take it easy. Did you get out with your babies this morning? How was the BBQ with your friends?

Should get a move on and get ready for the next invasion that will be headed this way with open mouths!! Have a wonderful day, everyone. Hopefully, today will be a quiet day in your neighborhoods and that everyone has run out of fireworks!! :)

Good afternoon! Jane's pool is going up as I type...actually they were putting the walls up when I left her house around 1:30 this afternoon...
I am whipped! Took SP home around 8:30 this morning & Wendy was already there...they drove straight thru & got in around 2 am....she said things with her son are a mess...no one knows if he had a will..he owns 7 Midas Muffler shops & no one seems to know how that is set up and with it still being a Holiday they can't talk to anyone at the bank or any where else...he has a son & daughter who live in Florida who can't agree on anything...so right now Wendy
doesn't even know where he is going to be buried....she has an extra plot at the church cemetery that she offered to give them but they haven't said if they want it or not...such a shame!
After I left Wendy's I went to Jane's & put up 2 new sets up cordless faux wood blinds in her bedroom...which wonder of wonders went up without a hitch...then I mowed her front yard...she fed me lunch & now I am ready for a NAP...the cats are thrilled to have the run of the house again...catch up with everyone later...

If I'm a tad quiet I do apologize. In spite of the encouragement from various doctors and the kinesiologist I had a call from my cardiologist on the weekend if you can believe it. While reviewing the echo, ekg and data from the monitor he has taken me off the 81mg aspirin and and put me on a stronger blood thinner. Seems my heart, as it did in hospital, refuses to stay in sinus rhythm. He's hoping this helps. He' not the only one!
It does sound like you all had a delightful 4th. The fireworks have been pretty quiet around here for the most part. Good for Mr. Bear.
The Bark-A-Doo with friends was good. As you have all eluded to, eyes too big tummies too small. We met Doug and Brenda's son Andrew and his fiancé Colleen. Good to do that before their wedding in the spring!
Yep Karen, we need an update on pool guy.
You just popped on to let u know that the pool is up! We need pics and we do need to see this picture that our Pat mentions. Wills are something nobody, especially a young man, want to think about but they do make things so much easier when something unexpected happens.

Your gang seems to have handled the loss of Firecracker pretty well Pat. Nice that you were able to provide a final resting place for him. Um, is that even legal in FL? Not that I'd say anything. ;) I can be bought with food...
We were down to the park before 8:00 this morning Kathie. Most of the regulars were out early as well so Katie got to see her friends. That was quite the video of the young man playing "The Agony Bags" for Art! Have you ever noticed that bagpipers always seem to tap the beat with the same foot. Those cookies look amazing! The beans sound pretty darned good too!
Yes Natural Genius, I did know that was your Super Power Name! We are indeed in the throws of another heat wave. Right now it's 89F but with the humidex, or real feel as Accuweather calls it, it's like 98. What was the prognosis on the battery Dave? Dang things are pricy if you have to replace them.
I just finished 15 minutes on the treadmill. And thought I'd pop by while I cooled down.
You all take good care of each other.

Jane said they are filling the pool with water...once the guy get's done & they leave I'm sure she will get out & get a picture...right now the ones she has taken don't really show the whole pool that well...

Here is the picture Jane took of me yesterday...when Amanda & Co were here last month I had worn this shirt & shoes over there one night & Alyse had told me if I changed the tan shorts I wore that night for white ones I would be ready for the 4th of July...so I had to take her fashion advice...Lol...

98F here in PURE as HE&& Michigan! LOL

Karen: Great picture of you girl. Looking HOT and SEXY. WOW. If we put that picture up on one of those 'dating sites' you'd be at the alter before you could turn your head.
Are you still going ahead with that crazy idea of building the stairway so your sisters and you can get up into the pool? Best be careful. We can't afford to have you LAID UP for HEAT STROKE. :emoticon 0106 crying: I don't suppose Jane is planning on heating this pool.....right? After all it's Florida and sooner or later is will warm up.

POOR WENDY. If her son owned all those Muffler places he had to be worth a few bucks. Sure hope he had a lawyer who might come up with a WILL. And kids that don't see "eye to eye" will be a living NIGHTMARE. I'm sure you'll be staying far away from getting involved in that mess.

LEE: Message me what the name of the blood thinner is they have you on. I'll have to look up the name of the one I am on now. The first one I was on made me feel SO TIRED. Only had to take it once a day. The CURRENT one is good, but you're suppose to take it 2 times a day. That is like a MAJOR PAIN in the Butt. I'm not the best pill taker at all.
Nice that the doctor was concerned enough to get a change of meds to you on weekend.
All the best buddy!
Glad you got out early to the park. It's like a BLAST FURNACE outside right now.

Gas at Costco today was: $2.89 a gallon
Gas at local Kroger's " : $3.24 " "
Crazy difference. I went for the ride with Art to get his almost empty car filled up. So he saved like $4 bucks, but it's just makes you feel better no matter how much you saved.

Earlier I did manage to get those shrubs along the side of the house trimmed out. Good thing I started early. It only took about 15 mins, but I would not have made it even that long if I was out there now.

Art was kind enough to drop me off at the door of Kroger's on the way back from getting gas. I managed to spend $84 bucks in one of the SMALL shopping carts in about 10-12 mins. Crazy. I've been on a Popcorn kick lately and made sure to buy 2 boxes to pop when watching TV. Stocked up on some things I'll be needing in the next few weeks that Art might have a little challenge finding in the store. The MAN knows where the BEER and MILK and CRACKERS are and that's about it. Ha Ha

PAT: Sounds like your GANG didn't disappoint when it came to EATING UP ALL your GOOD FOOD. Nice they left you some leftovers. Glad the Salami Roses turned out good for you.

DAVE: How's it going down your way? Get that car battery issue taken care of. Keep lying low during this extreme heat.

Did you all check out the video's of the balance of the condo building being demolished in Florida? YIKES it's amazing how that can do that. They said they went through that entire tower looking into bedrooms, bathrooms, closets under beds, etc to make sure no pets were still in the bldg before demolishing it. Just think of all the peoples person possessions that are all in that huge pile of rubble now. I guess it really doesn't matter since most of those folks are gone. And some didn't even have family to make things worse.

Okay, out of here to warm up the Baked Beans and throw a few pork chops on the grill for our dinner. Quick and easy is the name of the game here.

Later gang.

LEE: I was on Xarelto (Rivaroxaban)….
but now I’m on ELIQUIS 5mg.(Apixaban)

Karen: Was Wendy’s son still married or divorced? I was thinking maybe the wife would know avout a will, etc, etc.
When I told Art avout all his Muffler shops he just rolled his eyes and said what a mess that would be trying to figure all that out.

Still hot over here, but better than it was earlier.

Good morning.
Not quite 7:00 and it’s already feeling like 90F with the humidity. Yuck!
He‘s put me on the Xarelto Kathie. I was trying to get off these damned pills not be put on stronger ones. I loved your Donald Duck cartoon.
Jim and Gail took possession of their new home yesterday. We popped over some of the boxes we were storing for them. We’ll run the rest over today. They were sure excited even though there are a few things left to do. Like their kitchen counters!! Seems a backup at The Cambria plant has delayed the arrival and installation. For now they have “finished plywood” but at least they have temporary counter tops.
Karen, that IS one fantastic picture of you! Is the pool ready?
I need coffee.
You all have a fantastic Tuesday and I’ll drop back later.

Good morning! According to my standards, this is pretty early for me to be posting, but it's going to be another one of those crazy busy days around here centered around boiling those damn peanuts!

Seems like, Bert thought he had at least 1 more full tank of propane to finish this job with. Unfortunately, 2 of the tanks were empty, so he headed out to get the tanks filled. Having been a holiday weekend, every possible place he could have gone to, including a stop at the nudist colony down the road, yielded no propane. So he took the tank off the BBQ and that didn't last very long either. Bottom line is that back in the day when I would boil them on the stove, it was a whole lot easier though a lot messier. Now I'm waiting for him to come to life to start a quest once again.

Gary just texted me that he picked up our peaches already this morning - 25 lbs for each of us! Then Missy will be back with the kids for her to do a bit of cleaning today for us in the kitchen and dining room. That will mean we have to feed her once again too!! I'm already tired of the BBQ leftovers and would really love some Publix fried chicken today, but I don't se that happening.

Our weather is really crappy today, thanks to early bands of Elsa. We're out of the cone, but Karen isn't, so she has to take care. Worst of the storm is going to be heavy rain, some not so strong winds and the possibility of tornados. As usual, the worst will happen while we sleep tonight. That figures! It always storms during the night when you can't see anything. Bert will check the lanai to make sure there's nothing we need to secure before the day is over.

Time now to make a cup of coffee and chill for a while before people start showing up around here to interrupt my day!! Have a good one, gang, and I'll be back later. :)

Hi GANG:
Busy over here with Hospital arrival times, etc. Not to mention I am now going to the Big main hospital in Royal Oak, MI. That's 45 mins from our house instead of 15 mins at the local branch.
I have a EARLY BE THERE TIME of 5:30 a.m. Surgery: 7:30 a.m. Better early to get it over with. We will also miss rush hour traffic! And since ALL ROADS are under construction around here it will be a blessing to avoid traffic jams.

LEE: I don't know if they told you this or not, but you'll be on BLOOD THINNERS forever. You just might have different kinds until they find one your body likes. :(
Sure hope YOU are NOT LIFTING any of those boxes for your neighbor. Just not a good thing to do no matter how light or heavy they are.

Plywood counters would be at a premium these days with the cost of lumber! :D I'd just throw a cheap dollar store table cloth over the area and avoid splinters.

Karen: Please be careful the next few days with this ELSA storm heading your way. Hope your plants make it through all this. A good time to make sure you have your BOX with essential paperwork and insurance information at the ready. Let's hope you don't need it.
Hope your power does not go out on you. Buy some extra bottles of water. STAY SAFE.

PAT/BERT: All the above goes for you guys. Take care during these next few days. Good luck with those Peanuts. And geez.....you don't even get a break from all your cooking and preparing and you have 25 pounds of PEACHES to deal with. YIKES.....

DAVE: Sure hope you are okay buddy. Not like you to not GREET us in the morning.

I'm out of here for now need to put the fresh sheets , etc on our bed. I actually washed all the bedding and put it outside to dry in the HOT SUN.

Be back later.

No, it’s not like Dave to not be here before most of us have our morning coffee. Maybe his meds have left him a tad tired. Let’s hope that’s all it is.
That’s always a worry for me Pat. Running out of propane that is. Lu-Ann doesn’t like extra tanks in the garage so I just have to keep an eye on it. Did Bert stop at the nudist colony on the way out and the way back? ;) Just in case they got a delivery mid day. Chicken stir fry for dinner here. I’d much prefer a big old hunk of Publix fried chicken!
I have a tissue valve as opposed to a mechanical one Kathie. That way there is a glimmer of hope that eventually I won’t need meds. Blood thinners or otherwise. That according to the surgeon. Gail has covered the temporary counter with a cheap picnic table cloth. We moved two more boxes over this morning and I put her counter stools together. Jim left this morning for Kitchener to pick up another load of fragile stuff. He should be here for dinner. Then he’s headed back this evening because tomorrow is garbage day and he has extra stuff to put out. Good thing he’s a retired long haul driver because that’s nine hours on the road!
Echoing Kathie, I hope all of The Belles are keeping an eye on the sky and an ear to the crystal set for storm watched and warnings. If you are out and about and see Jim Cantore, head for a really safe place!
Time to hit the stationary bike! Well, not hit it so much as ride it.
Be good everyone.

THIS was my morning post. Why it didn't take it, beats me.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Be still my heart, KC. The pool is actually up WITH water in it. You sure have quite a tan there.

Since it's going to be another cooker in Michigan today, and if I remember right you're going to be or was near some water, this song is just for you;
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpv-RGZJjP0

Lee; Since you've had and have it again, can you explain to me what this lack of sinus rhythm of your heart is, and what it feels like to you. Anything like A-Fib?

In answer to your question BB; The meds have kicked in and I'm feeling a bit better. But I'm not pressing it by doing too much. And this heat with the high humidity reminds me to not go outside much at all. Now that you're a head-chef I'd bet your breathing and legs give you a big thanks for delegating the worker bees.

Today's only goal is to get that battery checked by my mechanic, to see if it's a goner. That was the same plan as yesterday. But his garage was closed yesterday. And since his answering machine didn't mention that, I drove past the place to see if it was open. NOPE. And there was a sign on the door sign saying it was closed on the 5th. So I came home and put the battery charger on my car for another 4 hours. And after that, all I got was a dim dome light. Hopefully if it's dead I'll still have some warranty left on it. I'm thinking it's only 2 years old.

Bellalago Belle

YIPPY! Bert was able to get propane today at the campground down the road, not the nudie colony. He filled 2 cans right away and is now back getting 2 more cans. One can goes home with Missy and one goes back on the BBQ on the lanai. He will store the other 2 in the garage, which he has always done.

Missy is being a big help today. She doing all the kitchen cabinets with lemon oil to moisturize the wood. They look so beautiful when done once a year. Also cuts all the oil and dirt off the doors.

It's really crappy here. A bit of light wind, rain and under a tornado watch until 11 tonight which is guaranteed to be continued overnight and thru tomorrow. We're used to this weather pattern. Keep your head down, Karen. Things are going to get rocky up your way.

Dave - So glad to see your post. Ya gotta love how these computers have a mind of their own when it comes to doing what we want. Mine is playing games and locking up on me every now and then. Bert's are even worse. They are both very old. Only one is online. The other is where he keeps important information that he doesn't want other to be able to get at. Gary is going to building him 2 new computers to replace these two. He'll also transfer all the information from each as needed..

Man, it is pouring out there now!!! o_O
