Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Good afternoon! After a really crappy night's sleep, I fell into a nice deep sleep and never got up until 10:30. Now I feel like I've screwed up my whole day sleeping that late.

Dave - I agree about "Blazing Saddles" being one of the funniest movies ever. Hard to believe that 44 years ago, when that movie was made, people didn't have a pole shoved up their tush and could say things like that. Just like "All in the Family". People sure have become up tight about being afraid to be politically incorrect and offend someone. Life was so much better and more fun then, for sure. Might have to hunt around her for another Mel Brooks movie. I know we have them all.

Karen - Hope you're not working too hard on that deck. Take care that you don't hurt your back again.
Our peaches just made it into the refrigerator a little whole ago. They had ripened enough that I can now plan how I will use them and when. Most will end up in the freezer, for sure.

Kathie - Glad you got to sit outside and enjoy a bit cooker weather this morning. Right now it is 88 here with a feels like temp of 97! The humidity is killing us. I see today as a remain in the house day.

Not really going to be a big choice about staying in the house today. G&E are coming for dinner with Ethan. I'm making the sauerbraten which takes about 4 hours to cook. I would like to get over to Restaurant Depot for a few things, but I'm not sure Bert will be good with that. I wanted to get a cheesecake for dessert, plus some other stuff for later in the week.

Guess it's time to find something for lunch. Bert is hovering and that's usually a good sign that he wants lunch. Have a wonderful afternoon and behave yourselves!! :)

Getting OLD SUCKS!!! I didn't get half the things done at Jane's today that I wanted to get done...it was just to flipping hot & muggy and by the time I got the 2 sets of stairs together and the grass had dried off enough to mow it was to hot & sunny to do that....so we hauled off all the empty boxes & crap left over from the pool install....had lunch & then I got in the pool for a few minutes...I felt so bad...the ground around the pool just is not level enough right now for the ladder and Jane just did not feel safe climbing the ladder into the pool...so she didn't go in the water..which was a shame, cause once you got in it felt WONDERFUL!! I'm going to go back on Monday to mow the yard & see if I can't at least get a temporary set up for the good stairs so she can get in her pool...now it's time to just relax for a while...should have put a bottle of wine in the fridge before I left

Good afternoon!
Lu-Ann‘s 11.00 appointment saw her see the movement disorder specialist at 1:15. A long drive, wait and trip home and he barely acknowledged her and her questions. Because it was cool I had the radio and the fans running, but not the van, for three hours to keep the pups comfortable. Of course that drained the battery and I need a boost to start the wonder wagon. I enjoyed one coffee on the way and picked up one other while I waited.
Today must have been grass cutting day. I got the front yard done, we trimmed the balls on our decorative tree (no comments Dave) and weed whacked. Then I got, finally, my hair cut.
Karen, we DID put a bottle of wine in the fridge. Darned fine I must say. I hope you can get Jane’s stairs all squared away.
Pat, there are so many shows from back in the day that simply wouldn’t fly today. We are getting a break from the humidity today. Yesterday in London it never even broke 70F.
I wish we could open our windows Kathie but with the new builds behind us it’s pretty dusty. As time goes by your knee will indeed feel better. Slow and steady recovery!
Dave, often pups actually like the solace their crate provides them. It really can be a great training aide. “Be kind. Rewind.” The golden age and signage in video stores. With all of the steaming services are there any video shops around?
Well, pesto chicken over zucchini couscous doesn’t make itself.
You all have a fantastic rest of this fine Saturday.

Lee: There should be a LAW that appointments can't make you wait as long as Lu-Ann had to. That's just NOT right or good for anybody's health. And then not to even hear Lu-Ann's questions. GEEZ. Offices ALL seem to OVERBOOK way too much lately. Sorry you both had to go through all that and the pups too.

I know what you mean about new construction DUST. We lived through that 2 times and it's horrible EVEN WITH THE HOUSE LOCKED UP TIGHT the darn dust fines it way in. We get just normal outside tree dust when it's windy. You can see it on the dark counter tops. HATE IT. When it's POLLEN SEASON there is NO OPENING of the DOORS or WINDOWS.

I had a visitor today. Marie from UP 24 Mile Road came by to pick up something I had made for her to take to church tomorrow. It's a special WHEAT & ground nuts and sugar mixture that the priest will bless during the 40-day memorial service for her daughter +Mary. It's something the Orthodox faith does. They do a 40-Day memorial service and a 1-year memorial service. Just the way it goes.

Karen: Glad you got to go into the pool. And actually happy you didn't have to push on and cut the darn grass. Lordy I'll be saying a extra prayer for you and Jane and getting that TEMP LADDER stable enough for Jane to climb up it. Please error on the side of "IF IT'S NOT REALLY JUST RIGHT SAFE.....KEEP JANE OFF OF IT. Just not worth taking any chances. Not sure, but is somebody suppose to install the permanent steps other than you? I can't keep up with this pool project!

PAT: Here I thought you'd get a little break in cooking and it just doesn't happen. Good that your family likes the Sauerbraten. I've never been a fan of that meat course. You either like it or you don't. Or it's one of those meals you're raised on. Have a fun evening. Sorry it's so darn hot and humid over there.

I read that St Petersburg Beach area has taken out more than 11 TONS of DEAD FISH in and about the area. They had a drone view of all the masses of dead fish in canals and in the gulf, etc, etc. Can you even imagine the smell.
We experienced that dead fish syndrome one year when we were on Longboat key. Dead fish all over the boat dock areas of the complex. It smelled horrible. They had to have companies come in and scoop them out of the water. Took a few days. YUK.

DAVE: Sure hope Buddy stays within the right percentage when it comes to PEE PEE issues. No treat for him for awhile.

I've been doing my knee stretching exercises today and I must say my BUTT MUSCLES are letting me know it's affecting those muscles. Nothing like STRONG BUTT Muscles. Ha Ha. And yes....I know they're called something other than that. It's the STRAIGHT LEG LIFT that is doing all that tightening!

Going to watch another episode of VIRGIN RIVER tonight on Peacock. Such a good series. I don't want to BINGE WATCH. Want to spread this series out a little.

Take care all and I'll be going to Virtual Church tomorrow morning and saying a prayer for ALL OF US. Never hurts.

It‘s especially wrong to make people wait that long when the patients are Parkinson’s patients.

Our gang just left and now it's time to relax. They all loved dinner and dessert of NY style cheese cake with strawberries and NJ blueberries, followed with more than 2 cordial glass of Chambord to wash it all down. Life is good in Kiss-my-a$$ FL!!!

Checking out for tonight. Not sure when I'll get on tomorrow. Plan to go to the Grille for brunch if possible. After that, who knows what the day will bring.

Have a great night & I'll see you tomorrow! :)

Good Sunday morning!

K2' It sounds like since your knee is just stiff and sore, you're on a good path to recovering from this. No stabbing pains. Should I worry about any pastries that you make that a priest needs to bless?
1f601.png

Many of Mel Brooks's movies were made to take a stab at things he saw as wrong, BB. All those black jokes and comments were actually poking fun at racism, and how stupid racists look, sound and are.

Mother Nature is teaching you to pace yourself KC, on your projects. Can you imagine getting all these things done, when you were still employed working? But knowing you, I bet you would have tried anyway.

You and Lu-Ann sure got screwed over yesterday by that doctor, Lee. Balls on a tree if yours.......It must be a nut tree.

Looks like a soggy day around here, for us. As a matter of fact, there's at least a little bit of rain forecast for every day this week.

Ya'll be good.

Good morning, gang! Surprised I actually managed to get on here before heading out for brunch. No sweat, as Bert and I will be going alone today due to one friend having an ear & sinus infection. OUCH!!

Not a lot on tap for today after brunch. Bert might go over to G&E's to hang Bert's parents' antique cuckoo clock for them. They just had new bellows put in and are anxious to finally get it up on the wall. We gave it to Gary as soon as we broke up Bert's mother's house. She had 2 of them and M&J got the other one, which proceeded to get broken and is still sitting in a box in pieces. :( Neither of them went with our style of furniture, so we didn't keep either. Instead, I wanted a grandfather clock which we got and haven't wound in years. I doubt if that would work now, but is going to cost quite a bit to get it reconditioned. I just don't see that happening anytime soon.

Karen - How you making out on that deck and leveling the area? Just don't overdo it and take plenty of breaks. Just too sticky hot out there to work too hard.

Kathie - How's the knee today? You ready to start chasing Art around the house yet? I didn't think so!! Go bake more cookies instead!!

Dave - I agree about Mel Brooks' movies. They all carried a message that was presented in a very funny way. By the way - What was the message presented in Blazing Saddles during the bean eating scene? LOL

Lee - I agree with everyone else about that doctor and the way he treated Lu-Ann. Live and learn. I just hope you don't have to go back there again for Lu-Ann to see him. Some doctors have the bedside manner of a rock!

Almost time to head off for breakfast, so I better close this post before I forget and not get it posted until much later. Have a super day, everyone. Find something fun to do and make yourself smile! :)

Good afternoon.
It has been raining since very early this morning. The Weather Guessers seem to think it’s going to keep raining all week!
Every time I try to upload a picture of the tree for Dave it tells me there is a security error. Guess I’ll just have to take a new one. If it ever stops raining…
Dr. Jog is a brilliant researcher but should never see people. We have two movement disorder specialists in Southern Ontario. Jog who is 2 hours away and Dr. Stewart who is about 3 1/2. We both liked Dr Stewart but that’s a full day. I guess waiting like we did, that was a full day too.
How was brunch Pat? Times and tastes certainly do change. Then there are those like Gary who appreciate the workmanship in an old piece.
So Dave, did ya hear that the organization in charge of bugs is dropping “gypsy” from caterpillars and moths because the term “gypsy” could be offensive to people in some country or other. This is really getting ridiculous!
How‘s that knee today Kathie? I guess you don’t need to “take a knee” to say a prayer at virtual church.
Take it easy tomorrow at Jane’s Karen. We still need a pool pic please.
We did take Katie and Ava for a quick walk this morning. They, and we, got wet. Then we came home, dried and dropped them off and Lu-Ann and I went back for a stroll along the river. Heck we were already wet. Which made me think of this Neil Sedaka tune…

Good afternoon Wrabbits. 70F and MISTY rain off and on. Nothing big deal. But it's very OVERCAST and NO SUNSHINE at all. Bummer.
Like DAVE mentioned....suppose to be this way ALL week. :(

The wheat/nut mixture that went to the church service was NOT COOKIES guys! LOL. No worries DAVE! :D
Only way I can explain it to make any sense to you all is that it was a mixture of cooked wheat that got ground slightly in a food processor and ground nuts added and sugar. They pass it out in the
narthex (lobby) of the church in little cups with a piece of the bread after the church service/blessing. All done in memory of the deceased.
Jill went to church and she brought some of the bread back for Art & me to have.

It was nice to see Jill. I saved some of the wheat mixture so Art and I will have it during the week. We will be VERY REGULAR eating cooked wheat for sure! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

So here is a picture I found on google of the wheat.

And if you're really interested in what the "blessing looks like in our church" here's a video showing what goes on for these MEMORIAL SERVICES.
Okay, that's your CHURCH LESSON for the YEAR! LOL

Pat: How nice of Bert to help the kids hang the Clock! Hope you got to the Brunch and it was good. I haven't been to a Brunch in years! Use to be the big thing to do back when we were in our 30's! LOL

The knee is behaving. I do my exercises faithfully. I need to remember to ICE it more often. Keep forgetting that step. Still feels like a tight rubber band.

Karen: Hope you are not over-doing things today. Hope today is a REST DAY for you.

Lee: I'm thinking you are having the same DAMP, DREARY weather Dave and we are. Miss the sunshine. Still feel really bad about Lu-Ann's long appt wait. Wonder if she can get into a program closer to home. Sometimes it pays to look around and change doctors and programs. All the best to her and you (the driver). So frustrating.

Okay, I need to see if Art is up to going to our grocery store with a LIST to buy a few things like bread and half & half. The man is not a grocery store shopper. This should prove very challenging to say the least. :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

Have a good rest of the DAMP day.

LEE: Just saw your post. Good to know you have good doctors, but too bad they are so slow. Must be because of overbooking big time. Always wishing Lu-Ann the best.
You are so lucky to be so close to go for those walks by the River. I bet it's nice even in the Misty rain.
Always liked Neal Sedaka.. nice song for the day.

Later.........

Good evening! No projects for me today other than a few little tings I wanted to get done around here...I will be starting at Jane's bright & early tomorrow morning (hopefully)

Kathie, glad your knee seems to be relatively pain free...and thanks for the extra prayers today...virtual or not any & all are always welcome!

Lee, that is just a shame to waste a whole day in travel & waiting on the Dr. to be treated as if you don't even matter...if you are going to have to spend a day on a Dr. visit may as well be one you like...
I made up for forgetting to put wine in the fridge the other day by using that handy little box attached to the fridge that turns water into ice...slipped a bottle in yesterday afternoon & 90 mins later it was nicely chilled...enjoying a glass now as I type.

Pat, I've had my grandfather clock since Dec. of 2001...we had gone to Myrtle Beach over Thanksgiving weekend & Larry bought me one there...I too had wanted one forever...so far I've only had mine serviced 1 time, that was when I moved in here...I don't remember exactly how much it cost but it wasn't terribly expensive if I had it done..
Dave, I have no clue how I got half the things done that I did while I was working...I guess it just comes down to 2 things...1. I was MUCH younger then....and 2. I knew I had limited time to get stuff done so I was more organized. Now we tease that I am channeling my Dad...he NEVER finished a project the first day...he either forgot a tool...or needed more material...or some reason or another he couldn't finish...
I plan on being at Jane's by 8...and with any luck that will give me 2 hours to level out the 3x4 ft area where the steps are going to go...by that time the sun will be over the roof & I'll be working in full sun again...which is just to hot...hopefully the front yard will be dry enough by then & I can mow that....tomorrow is Jane's birthday so I don't want to spend all day there working as we are having her party at my house around 4 after Barb gets off..

Tues. I have a Dr. appt. with the new Ophthalmologist I've been going to...it's a follow up to see how the drops I've been using for my glaucoma are working...
Today is the first day in I don't know how many weeks that it hasn't rained...(yet) we normally swim on Sun. afternoons when Barb gets off but the forecast was calling for thunderstorms starting around 3...so far it's bright & sunny...oh well...if the weather is nice tomorrow we plan on swimming then...now I think it's time to get comfy & just chill for a while...catch up with you all sometime tomorrow

Karen I think it's so nice that you and your sisters make a point of celebrating your birthdays. Now about that RAIN.......we had it in the morning, but the rest of the day EVEN NOW it's been dark and dreary and a MIST every so often. Suppose to be this way all week.
But it's MUCH BETTER than what's going on in California and up that Western coast. The fires are horrible.

Hope you can get your leveling project done without any rain. Just be careful of your BACK. Nothing worst than BACK or LEG pain.
ENJOY YOUR WINE. I like how you chilled it! Clever.

Our Friend Marie just stopped by and brought back my bowl and she brought us a carry out box of food from the Serbian Restaurant that she had about 22 people from church for lunch today. The food is always so good from there. We all use this place when we need to cater a big house party. They took up 1/3 of the restaurant today and she said it all worked out good.
So we have dinner for tomorrow. Nice to have good friends like that. I'm not use to being on the RECEVING END of things! :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

If any of you have Netflix and want to watch a good series look up VIRGIN RIVER. It's in the 3 season now and a 4th will be coming out next Summer.

Of course, start at Season 1, Episode 1 and then you'll have to keep track of which ones you watched. Netflix is so hard for me to figure out on our Smart TV.
But you'll end up BINGE watching a whole season. Really good. I'm going to watch another episode right now. Then I have 2 more left and will have to wait until next Summer. BUMMER. :emoticon 0106 crying:

It's Monday!

The only reason I know that is because all the 2-wheeled trash cans are standing at attention at the end of people's driveways. I put ours out late yesterday afternoon. Along with putting out an old bike, that I know I'll probably never ride again. AND THEN. a new record happened. Within 1/2 hour it went POOF. Someone had snatched it up.

Yesterday's edge of space flight was a real hoot. One of the coolest things was seeing that the inside and outside of this spacecraft looked more like a private jet than a rocket-ship.

Gotta get moving. We've got to roll out of here at 7:15 for another medical test. I forget the name of it, but it's non-invasive, and they use sound waves to detect blood flow in my legs. While these cuffs squeeze the Hell out of them.

It's the same test that found my plugged up carotid artery.

Good morning Wrabbits. 67F here and cloudy. Nice to open the windows, but it sure is letting a lot of DAMP AIR inside. You can still feel the humidity even though it's CHILLY. Suppose to be like this most of the week. Joy, Joy! :emoticon 0106 crying:

Dave....hope the TEST went smoothly for you. I hope you get seen a lot sooner than Lu-Ann did. But most "Test appts" are pretty much on time within in a few minutes.

Although, I think the guy is nuts for going up into space at his age and for "I DON'T KNOW WHAT REAL REASON"... it was nice to see the inside of the space/airplane like vehicle. Amazing they actually made it back with a soft landing.

I saw this TIPS on TRAVELING and HOTEL HACKS on Facebook and this one stood out among many others. If you just do some of these HACKS right when you walk into your hotel room you could save yourself a lot of grief on GERMS! The worst is the rooms that have CARPET on the floors. Can you even imagine all the germs and tiny critters in that carpet. Makes you want to sleep in your automobile! :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

Here's the tip to do the second you open the door of your hotel room. Grab the plastic liner from the Ice Bucket and immediately wrap it around the TV Clicker gizmo!

More hacks to keep you busy today: (Only trouble is NOBODY is TRAVELING right now!)

Karen: Not sure when you will be reading this, but hope you HAD a GOOD day.

You all have a fantastic Day. Be back later. Need to do my knee exercises and remember to ICE it too. Then I need to clean the bathrooms and show Art how to use the quickie wet swifter to wash the kitchen floor. Just can't live with a dirty floor.

Good morning, fellow hutch mates! Not a lot carved in stone for us to do today, but there are a few things I want to get done including preparing some of the peaches for the freezer before they get overripe. Plus I want to package up some of the sauerbraten to save for future meals. We also would like to get to BJ's or Sam's before the rains return once again.

Something tells me that I have got to start going into more stores with Bert. When I give him a list of what we need, he often picks the wrong thing or just buys something "close to what I wanted". Case in point - I wanted Tyson chicken nuggets yesterday. He couldn't find them, so instead he bought spicy nuggets. That's ok with me, but some of those who will be getting them don't like spicy food. The best though was that I wanted 3 or 4 zucchini to make some zucchini bread. He very proudly showed me the zucchini he had bought. I hated to do it, but I had to burst his proudness bubble and tell him that he hadn't bought zucchini. It was yellow squash!!! I swear he's losing it big time!!

Dave - I hope all goes well with your tests today and that there are no further problems. That really was early to be off for tests. Bert has an appointment tomorrow with the hearing doctor. This is the appointment they screwed up on a few weeks ago. he was smart enough to make the appointment for 1:30. It's at least an hour trip to get to the office and part of the driving is on the dreaded I-4 through Orlando. By the time we'll be coming home again, it'll be close to rush hour, so we avoid I-4 like a plague at that hour. It'll be a long trip home through local roads with lots of traffic lights. Just have to hope it doesn't rain.

Kathie - Nice that you'll have Art do the floor today. Bert does ours too, as well as doing the vacuuming. Take care of that knee and do your exercises.

One last note before I head out of here. You all have to start paying attention to the governor of Florida - Ron DeathSantis. He is the heir apparent to lil t and is even worse than him. Headline in our newspaper yesterday said "DeSantis wants to turn America into Florida". How's that for a c hilling thought? Whenever is read or see anything relating to the crap he comes up with, I go all Jersey and my mouth runs in a way that would put a longshoreman to shame. I'm working on setting a new world's record as to how many f-bombs can be dropped in a single sentence when talking about this a-hole.

Have a nice day, everyone! :)

DYING might be our only way out of all the crap that is going on in POLITICS lately.
It's never EVER been a mess like this. We had bad apples, but they never were as vicious as some of the current players. Just makes my blood boil what our country is going through.

The pictures of Haiti might become real for all of us if this mess continues. SO SAD.

Good afternoon folks.
Another dreary day here in The Burg. But a dreary day here is better then an average day in most places!
Here's a picture of the front of the house from last summer (before the grass went down) Dave. The tree with the decorative balls is on the right. Hope all went well for the squeezing of the limbs today.

So Karen, assuming that you got to Jane's this morning and didn't forget a tool I hope you are home by now to prepare for her birthday dinner! The past days have been tough on Bear with all of the rain and thunder. All he needs is lightening and he'd be really in rough shape.
When we check in to a hotel Kathie, the first thing we do is scour the carpet for stuff that should have been vacuumed up. We don't want the dogs getting other people's stuff. We have started to carry a ziplock back for the remotes because sometimes you want to put ice in the ice bucket! I'm sure Art would be more than willing to learn how to use the floor cleaners. We're having very similar weather to you. I hear that it's supposed to get real humid here later this week. We are actually considering a movement disorder specialist in Michigan if OHIP will foot the bill!
Pat, I have often come home proudly displaying what I found at the grocery, or any other store, only to have my bubble burst because it's not quite right. It's guess it's a guy thing. Lu-Ann and I were thinking just the other day that I4 has been under construction forever! That only adds to the traffic nightmares. There are a lot of really scary political figures in the US. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Greg Abbot, Deathsantis. A lot of folks we know are already reconsidering trips south now and especially in a couple of years if the idiot fringe claws back power.
Waiting for doctors to call is a pain in the a$$. Especially when it's the urologist! He said if my numbers dropped we would switch from a biopsy to a monitor stage. My PSA doubled after the heart thingy. That was not unexpected but it's taking it's own sweet time going back down. I'm just not in the frame of mind for that procedure on top of the heart crap. I guess we'll see.
My mind is wandering here so it's time to bid you all a fine afternoon.
Oh ya, a milestone of sorts. I got my second Pfizer jab two weeks ago so I'm fully vaccinated.

Did our run to Sam's this afternoon. I even went in with Bert to make sure he got the right stuff. Actually, I had trouble getting a few things I wanted to get, like a block of imported provolone cheese and some 80/20 chop meat to make hamburgers. They only had 90/10 chop meat and that is too lean to make a good hamburger. You need more fat in it to make is juicy and not dried out.
Most annoying part of the whole deal was that they had 8 self checkouts and 2 with a cashier. We refuse to do self checkout, as they haven't given us a W2 form for the tzxes they are going to withhold. I don't work for free!!
And then the t-storm hit as we were driving in the car. Man, was that ever a beaut!!! Kept an eye on the sky as there were a couple of "fingers" coming out of the storm cloud that could very easily have touched the ground as a tornado. Thankfully, that didn't happen. By the time we got home, the rains had stopped, but about 5 minutes after we got in the house, the heavens opened up again. We were able to ride by M&J's house and saw that the roof trusses had been delivered. That means in a day or 2, the crane will be there to lift them into place and them they can get the roof finished. Slowly, but surely, the house is moving along in spite of all the rain.

I did manage to blanch and cut 6 peach halves to go in the freezer for right now. Next peach project will be to make fresh peach salsa to go with the salmon dinner Bert invited G&E for Wednesday night. You know what that means? Another trip to Publix for the rest of what I need for dinner!! LOL

Kathie - This guy here in Florida is unreal. If you read up on what he was doing not reporting numbers during the pandemic to make Florida look better. Heck, I don't think any numbers are coming out of Florida for at least a month now!! He's so busy up lil t's butt, he has had no time to stay in Tallahassee and do what governor's are paid to do. Instead he's constantly campaigning to make himself loo good. Unfortunately the stupid repubs are eating his sh*t up!!!

Lee - Nice that you thought to remind us about your balls in front of your house! I had forgotten about that. Poor Bear with all that rain. How old is he now? He's like the rest of us and not getting any younger, unfortunately!

Still raining here, so no lanai tonight. Time to decide whether I want red or white wine with dinner. Beef=red wine! Have a great evening, everyone. Time to shut this puppy down for the night and actually spend some time with Bert, if he ever comes out of his computer cave!! LOL :)
