ALWAYS SOMETHING!

Hi my dear Hutch Family.
I need to take some family time off from my daily posts.
Jill called earlier in the evening to say our Mark is in the hospital. Seems he has LOW HEMOGLOBIN. It’s been
monitored since March and after todays blood draw his doctor sent him to the hospital to get more tests and 2 units of blood for now. He’s been really tired lately and thankfully he went to get it checked. He hid it well.
Got a real room after 4 hours in a ER cubicle room. Beats the hallway gurney you get when they are really busy.
Jill has been with him and is thankfully able to keep it together. God bless them both. They just celebrated their 28th Anniversary on Saturday.

I’ll let you know how things go.
Say a prayer for Mark and Jill too. Thanks. You know you guys are the best. :emoticon 0152 heart::emoticon 0152 heart:

I better get in bed or I’ll be bumping into Fr Dave soon.

Later Wrabbits. No food fights with Mini Hot Dogs!

Morning!

Looks like it's going to be a soggy-doggy day for us. Warm but wet.

K2; Feel sorry for Mark ending up in the hospital. Hope everything works out for him soon. I've no idea about problems with hemoglobin. I had to laugh when I read about all the stuff in your basement you need to pitch. DON'T WE ALL. I think that there's something in our DNA to make us all at least a bit of a hoarder. We too get fewer and fewer posies to plant every year. Remember when we were younger and didn't believe the "old folks" when they said their bodies could tell differences in the weather?

You made me think about where I shop, Bill. I've never been in a Costco, Sam's Club or even a BJ's. It's probably because I don't like giant stores or being around crowds of people.

Sucks about all the wildfires happening in Canada, Lee. Hope it doesn't get as bad as last year. For the last couple of days smoke has come down from them to Cleveland.

Nothing much else to gab about. Oh goody, another doctor's appointment this morning. They never end.

I popped on here to catch up after getting distracted yesterday afternoon.
Needless to say I certainly wasn’t expecting to read the news about Mark. That certainly took some of the thoughts out of my mind. Kathie, please first and foremost find time for yourself. I know that you will be there to support your family in any way you can. Know that Lu-Ann and I are sending our best wishes, thoughts and prayers to you all.
It’s a rainy start to this Friday.
Our smoke detector went off just after midnight. The system seems OK but in researching the cause of the false alarm the manufacturer suggests removing all of the hard wired units and using a can of compressed air to blow clean the sealed sensor areas.
I guess my day has been planned!
Everyone have a very good day.

Not many things more disturbing than having your smoke detectors going off in the middle of the night. Glad that it was a false alarm and the problem is fixable. We had a similar experience but earlier in the evening last summer and found that the smoke detector was past due to be replaced. Apparently they are only good for a certain number of years and ours was installed when the house was built a few decades ago.
Prayers for Mark, K2. Glad to hear that he went and had the problem checked out before it developed into anything more serious.
Just heard that Royal Caribbean Captain James McDonald, who was recently MedEvacd off a ship because of a medical
problem, has died. Captain James was originally from Canada and was the first cruise ship Captain we had who didn't have a Scandinavian or Italian accent and therefore could be easily understood when he spoke to passengers from the bridge. He was also our captain on our first transatlantic cruise and masterfully kept us out of the path of Hurricane Gustav. A few years later we sailed with him out of Boston when our ship had to stay docked in Boston for a few days due to the untimely arrival of Hurricane Sandy. We sailed with him a number of other times and was always a great host to all of the passengers. He will be missed.
Busy weekend ahead for us- memorial service tomorrow for Jason's father and HOA breakfast on Sunday.

Good afternoon. Well the appt with the Podiatrist went well, he thinks since the shot did not do any good that I may have at least one stress fracture so I will be getting a MRI. As soon as they have the approval from the insurance company they will schedule it then they will schedule a new appt with the Podiatrist.

K2, hope they find why Mark is having the hemoglobin problem and can fix it easily.

All have a great day.

K2, Fay can't kneell on her artificial knee either, she just bends over. She can touch the floor with her hands flat on the floor without bening her knees. Maybe you may have just over done it a might with your posies. I hope Mark will be okay and whatever is causing the problem can be easily corrected.
Lee. good luck with cleaning your smoke detector. Have you been able to do it????
Bill, you got your money's worth on your smoke detector. Reading your post I wonder about our detector and if they should be replaced.
Dave, they are tennis shoes, not sneakers, I guess there is a difference. I bought them over 60 years ago, maybe more. I think they are a taylor ???? style and I checked on them a while back but never did anything with them. I still have them somewhere.
Fay and I got new hearing aids today. We aren't saying what as often.
Raining and a little cool today but is supposed to warm up tomorrow.

It's update-time on Mark, K2. You know how us bunnies don't like to be kept in the dark, and how much we worry.

I must be honest, I did need to look up "hemoglobin". Pretty much it's the stuff in our blood that moves oxygen from our lungs to all the other parts of our bodies.

Lee; Sounds like your smoke alarms are hard-wired. I've never been keen on those. When we had our house rewired years ago they hardwired all our smoke alarms. They then tended to go off frequently for no reason, so we replaced them all with battery powered smoke/carbon monoxide alarms.

Like you Bill, I was really surprised when I found out that smoke alarms actually have a use-by/expiration date on them. Even with a completely new battery in them.

And in keeping with today's topic; Sounds like you're about to get some new smoke/carbon dioxide alarms, Mike. When in doubt, replace them. Sorry that Fay can't get down on her artificial knee. But damn, she can actually put her palms on the floor without bending her knees. SO many people can't even touch the floor with just their fingertips. I got a kick out of you mentioning that you and Fay don't say "WHAT??" as often since you got new hearing aids.

Another foggy start.
Like you Dave, I had to look up what has landed Kathie’s Mark in hospital.
Ah, smoke detectors. We went to the hardware store in town and picked up a can of compressed air. once home I started at the one that is hard wired and also has a battery backup. I took each one down, checked the date, vacuumed them and then blew air into the unit. In the case of the two with battery backups, even though I had changed the battery when the clocks went ahead, I replaced them, tested them and like most things, crossed my fingers.

I was so surprised at the support different sport shoes provide Mike. My court shoes are built to give a lot more lateral support than my walking / running shoes. At least that’s what I thought I heard you say. ;)
I’m amazed at how diverse all of these companies are these days Bill. Appliances, electronics you name it they all carry the same badge. I believe Lu-Ann and I may have sailed with Captain McDonald. He looked very familiar.
I hope you’ve been keeping just busy enough to stay out of trouble Karen.
Today kinda sucks. This would have been Momma Bunny’s (Our Pat) birthday. I had a reminder pop up on my calendar. I will raise a glass of red wine in her memory.
Keeping you and the family in our thoughts Kathie. Hopefully the medical folks are putting together a good plan to get Mark’s hemoglobin boosted and behaving.
All of you have a dandy Saturday.

Good morning!

Lee, I'm not sure if there is enough "busy" to keep me out of trouble but I try. Pat's birthday reminder popped up on my Facebook feed as well, wish I had some Crazy Good to toast her with but my Roscatto Sweet Red will do in a pinch.

Kathie, sure hope they get the problem figured out for Mark & get him back on the track to good health!

Dave, how did the Dr. appointment go for the 2nd opinion on your leg?

Mike, Wow, I'm impressed with Fay's ability to touch the floor just by bending over, I don't think I can even touch my toes with my fingers.
I list my items for sale on Facebook marketplace, you get a few flakes but for the most part it's easy enough to weed them out.

Bill, I've heard of Capt. McDonald but don't think I ever sailed with him. I remember your cruise with Hurricane Sandy.

Didn't get Jane's yard mowed Thurs. by the time the grass dried off enough to mow I was wore out from other projects I'd been doing outside. I did get her SunSail put back up, will try again Tues.

Got a couple people supposed to be interested in some things I'm selling so hopefully will be meeting up with them later on today.
Was planning on doing some work outside today but it's gotten hot & muggy already, I may just sit inside in the A/C and read

Good morning. We will be going to lunch today, then get Bruce's passport photo, then pick up Rx at Publix.
Tomorrow we will be going to our timeshare in Jupiter. Jennifer and her cousin will be arriving there today for at least 3 or 4 days if not the whole week. Also tomorrow Bruce's brother and his wife will be going there for the day.

This coming week is a busy week. Tues I take the SUV in for oil change and whatever, Wednesday I have hearing test and have my aids checked. Then Friday an appt with at Dermatologist for a skin caner cut out. Bruce has an appt with the pain specialist for his neck, which he was not getting anywhere with workman's comp setting it up so he set up the appt then called workman's comp and told them he has an appt so they sent in all the info the Dr needed since when they got a new computer system the old insurance did not transfer.

All have a great day.

Hi Wrabbits!
First off........this Extended Family of mine is the absolute BEST.... Thank you so much for your prayers and support and concern for Mark. It really means a lot to me.

I don't have much to report except that late yesterday evening they finally got a good blood match and it arrived in his room as Jill & Ashley were there visiting. So we know he will be getting transfusions and hopefully they will help him.
Today, Saturday, he is having a GI Scope to see if there is any bleeding in his stomach. And also a full SCAN from shoulder to hip-line to check for tumors. The more tests while he is in the hospital the better. Nothing worst than having to make appts and run around (sick) getting tests done outside of the hospital.
Thanks again for your concerns. You're the BEST.

Remembering our Dear Mama Bunny (PAT,a/k/a: BB) on her 1st Heavely Birthday. We all miss you and TOAST you today!

Great posts on here Wrabbits. Trying to keep up with them, but I run out of time to post back. Sorry.

Karen: So glad you know enough to stop working when that Florida HEAT hits the area. Take care.

Have a good weekend all. I'll say a prayer for ALL of us on Sunday. :emoticon 0100 smile:

Checking back to see if we had an update from Kathie and sure enough, we do. Thank you for popping by and letting us know what’s happening with Mark.
I sure do hope that you get that inside sittin’ done Karen. As the sun came out it started to get sticky here too.
We headed to, as Dave would refer to it, the small grocery store after our morning walk. Being a long weekend here we figured it may be a tad quieter than the bigger chain stores.
I know that I’m likely one of the younger bunnies in the hutch Mike but I can still bend over and put my knuckles on the floor and get on my knees (admittedly I use gardening knee pads!) to clean or do weeding.
I got the back yard grass cut - again - after lunch. After my coffee I’ll hit the treadmill for a bit. Then it will be time to raise a glass to Pat.

Woo-hoo! I just had to give it a try and I was wrong, I CAN bend over & touch the floor with my finger tips.....JUST BARELY! Getting back into an upright position was a whole new challenge though!

Kathie, glad to hear they are running lots of tests to figure out what is causing Mark's bleeding problem. You are soooo right about it being much easier getting this all done while he's in the hospital than trying to schedule follow up tests once he's released. Will add Mark to my prayers & light a candle for him tomorrow.

Got a little outside work done while it was cloudy & overcast, then the sun came back out so inside I came.

I CAN bend over with knees straight and touch floor with FINGERS FLAT to knuckles. Can't lay hands flat on palms. Not bad for a old lady. Ha Ha.

Update:
Mark's tests are coming back negative for internal bleeding. Not sure if they already READ the SCANS from this morning.

We are getting ready to go visit him. He might be coming home SUNDAY according to Jill. :clap002: Thanks for all of your concerns and best wishes Wrabbits.

Lee: I think you over-did it today with all you did. Slow it down buddy.
Love the appropriate picture of where that WINE GLASS was on that counter. A special place for most of us.

Karen: You're a sweetheart for going to church tomorrow and lighting a candle for Mark. I know it will help.

We put up a string of Patio/deck lights. Lord had mercy and made sure we DIDN'T KILL each other in the process. We both had ideas of how they should get hung.:emoticon 0122 itwasntme: We compromised. :emoticon 0115 inlove:

All you people bending over and touching t he floor. I thought I would try it but the walker kept getting in the way. That would be a good light exercise to do every day. I did try holding on to a chair, only about 6 inches to go.
K2, I'm glad to hear Mark is making some progress. It sounds like t he hospital is ddoing a great job of checking on him.
Keep doing t hat every day Kc, I'm sure you will improve.
Lee I should get somone to check our fire alarm. They worked the time we checked them so I figured they were okay. I can get on my knees just fine, but like Kc, getting up is a differnt story. That wine sure looked good. I don't think the old tennis shoes gave much support. They were probably made for basketball or overall use. I am talking about late 50s of early 60s,
I'm going check on the dates of the fire alarm Dave. We have the dates somewhere. Fay keeps a list of the different things we buy..
It is going to get to 89 Sun. and Mon. I will sit outside in the shade for a while.
I slept thru my coffee hour this afternoon so I'm going to get a cup of decaf coffee,

Thanks so much K2 for giving us the update on Mark. Yes, him being in the hospital is best for him getting all tests done. Meaning multiple tests all at the same time. If he is coming home today, it must mean either the problem is improved or solved to know what it is.

I'm giggling about so many of you bending over to see if you can touch the floor with your fingertips or your palms.

Trust me, that mental picture of all your butts in the air is not pretty. :)

Good Sunday morning.
I think we all hope that Mark is on the mend and able to come home today. The best place for all of the rests and diagnosis is hospital but he’ll feel better faster at home.
Mike and Dave make it sound like one of those challenges that go around on not so social media. “The Bunny Board Fingers to the Floor Challenge”. :emoticon 0140 rofl:

That was a glass of Pat’s beloved “Crazy Good” wine from True Blue Winery in Davenport Mike. Ya, I remember when sneakers were “all purpose”.
You make it sound like a bunch of old butts up in the air are a bad thing Dave.
It is supposed to be stink hot and humid here today. That could bring an afternoon thunder boomer. I guess if I’m gonna get the front yard cut it best happen this morning! But not before 9:00. My own “neighbourly rules” mean no outdoor power stuff before 9:00 am or after 9:00 pm on weekends.
Everyone have a fine Sunday!

No, I don’t know why the font got small? Or why I can’t fix it.

Like Lee said it’s going to be. HOT/ Humid one around here!

Mike: Thanks for your nice post. You make sure to stay HYDRATED even if you’re sitting in the shade. You and Fay enjoy the day! And make sure to get those Fire Alarms checked.

We had a good visit with Mark yesterday evening and got to see our grandson Eric visiting his Dad too.
The mystery still continues.
Drs are not sure why Mark’s Hemoglobin is not right. Giving him different meds to help kill off the bad blood cells. He’ll have more blood work done today and then the Hematologist doctor will be in to let him know if they will be sending him home.
Mark said that before his own doctor sent him to the hospital he gave him names and phone numbers of various specialists to see. Mark said some were so booked he wouldn’t have been able to see them for weeks. That’s why his Dr sent him to the ER. He also told him to cancel his Business Trip to Mexico. Lordy, could you even imagine have BLOOD ISSUES in Mexico!
I’ll let you know what happens today. Thanks again for your thoughts & prayers.

We turned on the Deck lights last night when it got dark out and they look cozy. I told Art if we sit out on the deck with the kight ON the Mosquitos will be able to find us better! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:
You all have a good day. Be safe in the HEAT. That goes double for the Florida folks.

Karen thanks for lighting the candle! :emoticon 0115 inlove::emoticon 0152 heart:
