Now to continue after greeting Karen, who just popped on.

Good you got whatever you need for the next few days. It's the wind and rain and fallen trees that cut off the power that the folks INLAND worry about.
The folks on the Gulf side worry about WATER SURGE added to what I posted above. Crazy times. Hope everyone makes it through.

Lee: Have fun with your friends at the winery. Sounds like you have a nice day planned. And good for you still getting in the TREADMILL WALKING! :clap002:
The guy across the creek put in a Wooden Stair with Black Iron railing yesterday. The younger guy works fast. He even put in a 4-5 foot Lantern on one of the rounded ends of the patio. Nice touch.
We really need to get a Tree or Bush or something that grows FAST to fill in the GAP between our VIEW and THAT HOUSES VIEW now that the Gazebo is gone. The light from the inside of the kitchen dining area is extremely bright at night. I don't know what kind of fixture the guys put in there, but it lights up the entire neighborhood. Art said I'd get use to it, and I said I'll be visiting the landscape nursery to ask for ideas for a planting where we use to have a tall bush! Should have never cut that down! Oh well.....live and learn.

DAVE: I would have to TREAT YOU and KATHI to a night at a local Comfort Suite Inn (or someplace you can bring the pups with you) and get yourselves a nice hot shower by now! Times like this I bet you wish you had your CEMENT POOL still in the yard! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:
No Pellet Gun here! I'd most likely shoot out somebody's window and end up in jail over a silly critter! Ha Ha.

You all have a good day. Hope all are safe from Helene!
I see we have a HIGH POLLEN count today here. The Goldenrod is most likely flying all over the place. It's the time of year for that to happen when it's all dried up.

Stay safe Karen. It is cloudy and gloomy here also.
Lee, I have noticed the earlier sunset and did my usual griping about it. Doesn't do any good. Hope you enjoyed your lunch with your friends.
It sounds like your project is moving right along Dave, it will be nice when it is finished and worth waiting for.
Hi K2, have a good day.
We had a ramp put up for me yesterday, our stoop sunk about 6 inches and it was starting to get difficult to step up to it and step down. I also got a wheelchair, don't need it yet but wanted it for when and if I do need it.
Have a good day

We had a delightful lunch and visit with Cait and Denny. Simply put they are two of the nicest people we are happy to call our friends.
Glad you have what you need and got Jane’s stuff safely stowed Karen. I’m keeping an eye on your area on The Weather Channel.
Always good to plan ahead for things Mike. I thought I heard somebody else griping along with me about the earlier sunset.
The young fella behind us has pot lights and spot lights he sometimes has on at night if he’s using his pool Kathie. We’re glad we have blackout curtains in the bedroom!
I thought of Dave and Kathi when we stopped at the grocery store this afternoon. They had pumpkin spice Swiss Rolls. I like dessert of just about any kind but they stayed put.
After a nice lunch I think a toasted bagel should cover dinner!
Have a good evening my friends.

Can't stop thinking about your safety, KC. I know you aren't getting hit head-on with this hurricane, but storms, winds and flooding are nothing to sneeze at. Keep us up to date on your situation.

This bathroom remodel is exhausting to me. Stuck in the kitchen and dining room area for hours and hours, only being there for our opinion on how we'd like things. It seems much like house arrest in a 2 room house. We had to keep the doorways blocked to the rest of the house to keep the dogs happy, fed, and away from the workers.

Work is not anywhere near done, BUT the shower IS functional for the weekend. YES!!!

Good morning.
We were treated to an incredible sunset last evening. The sky truly looked like it was on fire!
IMG_7281.jpeg

At least you have a bit of freedom in your home for the next three days Dave. I remember when we did our kitchen and bathroom back in Ayr. We had similar thoughts about being somewhat confined. At least you can enjoy a good shower this weekend.
It looks like the worst of the storm has passed Karen. Hopefully you, you sisters and friends all made it safely through the wind and rains that I was seeing on the weather sites. Still, with the warnings still in place be safe! When you get a chance let us know how you have fared.
Best get my breakfast. Then off to the cardiologist for my annual follow up.
Hopefully the rain stays away this evening. We are supposed to go for a candlelight tour of Ft. Malden. It got rained out last year on the day we had registered for.
Hi to the rest of you sleepy bunnies!
All of you have a fantastic day.

Karen wanted me to post this information:
*********************************
Can you let everyone know I made it through the storm, I have power but no phone or Internet. I haven't been outside yet but I don't think we had any damage. It was a pretty wild night and we didn't even know the worst of it

********++++*****************+++
So glad she is alright.
I watched the Weather Station late into the morning and Florida’s Gulf coast by Longboat Key and Clearwater Tampa, etc got hammered with Gulf Water Surge and wind. Bad.
The were showing the director all the way up onto Valdosta, it was really bad.

I’ll be back soon to read your posts from this morning.

Again, glad Karen is okay. :emoticon 0152 heart:

I'm back! Totally amazed that Spectrum got my cable & internet up & running so fast! Never lost power but talking to a couple of my friends from church who live nearby there power went out about 9:30 last night & is still out. Both my sisters & Wendy made it thru with no problems, no power loss for any of them either.

Lee, that is a gorgeous sunset pic! It would make a beautiful pic framed & hanging on your wall. Hope the visit to the cardiologist goes well for you!

Dave, glad to hear the shower will be functional for the weekend, once everything is all done & looking beautiful you will be glad you had it done. For now though I agree the disruption to your daily routine stinks!

Kathie, from what I have been reading the storm surge & water damage from this storm is going to be really catastrophic! And so many of the places hit still hadn't recovered from the previous storms.

Getting ready to put a couple meals in the oven for Leila, this will be the last food delivery to her. She's such a sweet lady & does so much for other people I'm really glad I had the chance to do these meals for her!

Yesterday I decided to tackle one of the projects I was going to have my nephew do, replace the wax seal on the guest bath toilet. It's had a slight leak off & on for a few months now. I knew I could get the toilet off & the new wax ring on, the tricky part is getting the toilet lifted back UP and over the bolts that hold it down. I did manage to get it back on, but I'm pretty sure one of the bolts moved & really isn't doing anything to hold the toilet down. BUT it doesn't move and best of all it doesn't leak anymore so I will take that as a win. Now I need to get some food in me other than coffee, have a great day all!

Thank you Kathie for the update on Karen. Yes, the storm is certainly far reaching.
And to you for checking in to let us know you’re safe and sound Karen. I hate those darned wax rings. But I have found an alternative seal that does the job very well. It allows you to lift and reseat the toilet if need be.
If that was our place in the photo it might be a keeper but it’s our neighbour’s house across the steer.
I have to see the cardiologist again. NEXT YEAR! He’s very pleased and could see that I am indeed doing my exercises which is strengthening my heart.
Have a super and safe afternoon everyone.

K2, thanks for the update on Karen and Karen thanks for posting. glad you are safe and okayl
I put a new toilet in our very old hours about 60 years ago, didn't know what i was doing but it worked.
Keep doing your exercises Lee. We want you around for a long time. You probably feel a lot better. Fantastic picture, I have never seen the sky looke so red, thanks for posting it.
Hang in there Dave/

It was an "interesting" Friday.

Both Kathi and I woke up sick. Not the best day to do that. Kathi was so looking forward to Grandparents-Day at the elementary school for 2 of the granddaughters. AND my Virginia daughter, with her little doggy, were arriving at our local airport. So my daughter found someone else to pick them up at the airport, and a place to stay until we felt better and not contagious. Heck, I'd just gassed up my car so she'd have a car to visit other relatives and friends while here.

And by the way I and Kathi feel at the moment, it's unlikely we'll see them today either.

Oh well, it's all out of our control.

GREAT picture Lee.

So happy to hear that you made it through that nasty weather, KC.

OK you sleepy Bunnies, time to wake up, lighten up and dance around the breakfast table.

Good morning Bunnies!
Our candlelight walk in Ft Malden was fantastic. We all felt safe from attack as all of the bastions were guarded by young soldiers. Muskets at the ready. A well spent 2 hours to learn more of the history of our fort and town.

Dave, I do hope you and Kathi are feeling a LOT better a little later on this morning. Is your daughter in town for long? Please keep an eye on your symptoms and don’t mess with them if they get worse. YIKES, I sound just like our Dr. Kathie. :emoticon 0100 smile: This was the time of year that polka music reigned in Waterloo Region! It’s the beginning of Octoberfest.
I’m thinking how back in the day, when you replaced your toilet Mike, there was no Google to figure out how to do things. You likely just asked the guy at the hardware store where you bought the wax ring and he told you.
Have things calmed enough to get out and check on your family and friends while delivering Leila’s meals Karen?
Are you in for the same all day long we have in our forecast Kathie? That’ll raise your creek if you are. Ava and I did manage to dodge the showers this morning.
Can I treat anyone else to a nice hot cup o‘ Joe?
Have a good, safe, feel better day.

Polkas, I learned to polka when I was very very young. Polka is a czech word for crazy dance. The dance started in Czech and I guess people thought it was a crazy dance. My Mother was Czech and taught me the dance and a few songs.
Thanks for posting the song.

We used to go to a lot of the Octoberfests. There are those words used to again. Cinci had a very nice one, don't know if they still do. I don't know how I fixed the john.
It is 70 and light rain now. Yesterday we had heavy rain and wind. I watched our Cleveland pear, it was really swaying. Our neighbor's silver maple lost a lot of small branches.
Are you keeping an eye on the creek K2. Has it overflowed?
I had the coffee and a large glazed donut to go with it. Life is good.

It’s been Dave, you Mike, and I here today. Reminds me of The Little Rascals “He-Man Woman Haters Club”.
We’ve had rain most of the day. Sometimes it’s the simple glazed donut and a coffee that hits the spot.
All kidding aside I hope all is well with Kathie and Karen.
All of you have a good night and we’ll see you tomorrow.

Sorry.... late check-in.
MIKE: We had a
MIST late this evening for about 20 mins that barely got the sidewalks wet. NO REAL RAIN. Thank goodness. Let's hope it stays that way through the night.

Sorry about Dave & Kathi getting sick. The germ got passed from the Nephews daughter, who was first sick and then the WORKER/HELPER guy got a hold of it and now our dear

Dave & Kathi got it. Hope you two feel better. Bad timing for this GERM to interrupt your daughters visit. WEAR YOUR MASKS IF YOU GET NEAR HER. Better yet GOT OUTSIDE and visit with her. (if the rain stops)

This just goes to show you how FAST GERMS/VIRUS's etc can spread without you knowing it.
Time to get our Flu Shot!

I loved to do a Polka back in the day. We had friends that would take us to the Polish-American Club and I'd dance the polka and loved it. Art DID NOT DANCE AT ALL.

LEE: So glad you two had so much fun Fort Candlelight walk. Wish we had stuff like that here, telling us about the township way back when!!

Michigan State is LOSING BIG TIME at half-time to OHIO STATE! They're just a better team.:emoticon 0106 crying:

KAREN HOW ARE YOU AND YOUR SISTERS DOING OVER YOUR WAY? Hope things are okay.

I watched lots of video's online showing the devastation on Longboat Key, Anna Maria Island, and the coast going North. UNREAL what WATER SURGE and do.
Places we stayed in on LBKey that were directly on the sand, I mean too close to the water, got ripped up and they showed 3 feet of SAND inside the one unit! They had no
electricity as this morning and the water is shut off to Longboat Key. They're trying to find the areas that the pipes are broken so they can turn the water back on. With the humidity and SALT WATER inside a lot of the homes and condos the MOLD must be growing by the minute. Feel so bad for all of them. The North end is so bad nobody can get onto the Key from that end. And the township closed the South end from anybody coming in so they can BULLDOSE the SAND off the streets and try and get the electricity on. It's a mess.

There were pictures and videos of all the other STATES that Helene visited with her rage. Just a horrible
destructive mess.

Back to the game.......no holding out for a win tonight.

Take care folks.

After seeing this article and pictures, it makes you thankful for being safe in your own home tonight. So sad that so many had to die. And I bet it was the elderly that couldn't get the help to get out safely. :emoticon 0106 crying:

Good Sunday morning Wabbits!

It is amazing Lee how much interesting history is all around us in each of our hometowns. Heck, there is a home in Massillon that was used as a station in the underground-railroad during the Civil War.

That's cool Mike, knowing that polka in Czech is "crazy dance". As long as it works, it doesn't really matter if you know how you fixed it.

There you are K2, you did make it. Such a shame, all those killed. And people's homes, businesses, and dreams crushed.

Kathi and I are still feeling a bit rough. Lots of bed time.

Good drizzley morning.
So glad to see your note Kathie. Yes, I do worry too much. I think that people still underestimate the sheer power of Mother Nature when she’s on a rampage.
A lot of the history of Fort Amherstburg, now Fort Malden, ties closely to the long gone Fort Detroit. Ft. Amherstburg was also the terminus at this end for The Underground Railroad. The Fort was specifically built where it was to control the river traffic between points in Ohio and Michigan. We have The Black History Museum in town as well which tells the stories of the slaves who found freedom in Canada after long and often harrowing journeys.
I guess the good news Dave is that you and Kathi are feeling a little better and not a little worse. I am guessing it will be a day or two before you two kids are doing The Crazy Dance out in the driveway!
Dang you for mentioning a glazed donut Mike. I can’t get that thought out of my mind!
Hopefully all of your friends have their power back and everyone and thing is all good Karen.
It is supposed to be another day filled with off and on showers. It was wet on our early walk this morning. Similar to Kathie’s mist last evening.
All of you have a fantastic Sunday.

Good Morning Wrabbits!

GLOOMY and dark here this morning. No rain.......yet! I guess this could be some off-cast from Helene. Nothing to complain about compared to what folks are dealing with down South. So many STATES affected.
Art is still trying to reach his buddy, that is as old as he is, in Ashville, NC. We saw videos and it didn't look good at all. He has a fast running creek along his property. Much bigger than what we have. I worry about him and his wife.

Okay, folks we're off to have breakfast in a part of downtown Lake Orion this morning. They do a real nice job at this really old tavern/restaurant. It's a place that you can enter from one side of a street or walk around the corner and enter from that street. Quaint place.

Karen: Hope you're doing okay. Let us know.

Dave/Kathi: Have some Chicken Soup for lunch! Might help with that BUG you two caught.

Later folks.
