Carnival Cruise Line debuted new ads for the “Find Your Fun Again” campaign starring Emmy-winning actor, author, and humorist Nick Offerman. The campaign is the first under the cruise line’s new brand platform, “Carnival Is Calling,” which launched on Nov. 1. Offerman serves as the face of the campaign – or more specifically, the gruff craftsman who found his grin.
“Find Your Fun Again” leverages Offerman’s sense of humor to tackle a perceived fun deficit currently in America. Raised in a family of cruisers and Carnival fans and known for his serious face and hidden sense of mischief, Offerman skillfully balances deadpan humor and playfulness. The ads were co-written with Offerman’s team of Parks and Recreation writers to make it unmistakably him.

“We believe Nick Offerman is the best person to be our ‘unlikely hero of fun.’ His signature blend of wry humor and credibility is the perfect way to deliver our message,” said Amy Martin Ziegenfuss, chief marketing officer of Carnival Cruise Line. “Nick’s personal mission, which aims to get kids off their screens and start creating projects, aligns with our vision of encouraging people to get out, reconnect, and find their fun again, with Carnival.”
Find Your Fun Again
Offerman joins a long line of Carnival celebrity spokespeople and brand ambassadors, including Shaquille O’Neal, Guy Fieri, Emeril Lagasse, Jonathan Bennett, and of course, Kathie Lee Gifford, who launched Carnival and cruising into a mass market consumer brand and lifestyle.

So you got a great deal on that Caribbean cruise. Scouring the Internet, checking with a travel agent or booking directly with the cruise line, you saved a pile of money on the cruise fare.
Cruise Travel Hacks
Happy that price includes port charges, taxes and fees, you can now board the ship. Doing anything onboard? That’s another story. That will cost you but not have to break the bank.
Booze! – No Smuggling Needed
Most cruise lines allow guests to bring aboard a bottle of wine to celebrate a special occasion. While replacing that cheap grocery store wine with vodka probably won’t work (but it might be worth a try), there are real vintages that are ‘better’ than others.
If ‘better’ means maximizing the effects of alcohol on your human body, skip the grocery store and go to a wine store.
Ask for wine with a higher alcoholic content to use in wine cocktails. There will be plenty of choices. The standard 750ml wine bottle holds about 19 shots of liquid. Do the math.
Better Service With Cash In Hand
Most big ship cruise lines automatically add the suggested amount of gratuities on a daily basis. At the end of the cruise, those are supposedly divided up among the crew members. That’s fine, allow that if you want to or feel the need, but be aware of the flexibility possible with this system.
Because this is still called a gratuity, you can still have them removed, choosing instead to tip the crew as you feel necessary. Start that process on day one, tipping as you go to room stewards, bartenders and waiters. Money still talks.
Play Their Game Or Get Off The Ship
Three Cruise Travel Hacks That Still Work 19
Those new to travel by cruise ship really have nothing to compare to. It’s the old timers who have sailed for ten or more years that fondly remember the olden days when more was included in the price. A better mindset: it is what it is.
If a more inclusive experience is what you want, there are a number of cruise lines doing that. Some offer inclusive pricing that often totals up to not all that much more than your inexpensive nothing-is-included cruise fare + what you paid onboard.
While it is indeed possible to walk on a big ship cruise and not spend one cent more on the experience, most travelers do. Actually, an increasing number of cruise travelers spend as much or more onboard than they paid for the ticket to board. What used to be called “nickle and diming” us to death is just business as usual these days.

However, Founder Ted Arison and the Carnival Cruise Line brand he created has had the last laugh. The Carnival Cruise Line brand continued to grow and become what it is part of today in Carnival Corporation & plc. Carnival Corporation & plc is currently the largest cruise vacation company and operates over 87 cruise ships sailing under nine different brands.

Most employees try to make their exits as graceful as possible. But one former Fun Squad member aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Valor says his departure was anything but orderly.
Crew member Trevor Johnson says he submitted his resignation to the cruise line on November 4, 2025, and that he provided the customary two-week notice so the company could arrange a replacement and he could say proper goodbyes.
“I submitted my resignation on November 4th with the intention of leaving on November 20th — giving a full two-week notice,” Johnson wrote in a Facebook post that has gone viral.
“I wanted to allow time for a smooth transition, to help find a replacement, and to say goodbye properly to everyone who had become like family aboard the Valor,” he continued.
According to Johnson, his planned final day was November 20th, 2025 — a turnaround day when the Conquest-class ship was due in her homeport of New Orleans, Louisiana, between Western Caribbean sailings. A November 20th departure would have made getting home to family much easier for the Louisiana resident.
Instead, Johnson says the goodbye came much sooner. On November 12, 2025, while the ship was in Cozumel, Mexico, he says he received a 5:00 a.m. “knock” on his cabin door and was told he needed to disembark that day.
He was reportedly given just one hour to pack his belongings and leave the ship — a sudden instruction that, if accurate, required him to pack up what he described as his entire life at sea.
“How embarrassing and devastating it was to pack up my entire life in just one hour — with no chance to say proper goodbyes to my onboard family, and no time to think,”he recounted.
Johnson thanked HR, the hotel director, and the entertainment director for allowing him a few extra minutes to say goodbye. Still, the early disembarkation left him feeling “humiliated, disrespected, and deeply embarrassed.”
Every Story Has Two Sides
There’s significant chatter on social media and cruise news sites about what led to Trevor Johnson’s early disembarkation. Still, at present, we have only Johnson’s account, and there has been no public response from Carnival.
Carnival Cruise Line has not publicly commentedon the situation; the company typically does not discuss personnel matters involving individual crew members.
Why Disembarked In Cozumel?
Disembarking a crew member at the next suitable port of call is standard practice for cruise lines when customs, immigration, and transportation logistics permit repatriation. Ports like Cozumel often have the necessary facilities and flights that allow a crew member to travel home.
That said, a “no notice” or very short-notice disembarkation — such as the one-hour instruction Johnson describes — is more commonly associated with crew members who have been terminated for breach of rules or misconduct, according to industry reporting on crew procedures.
Johnson had planned to depart on November 20th during a turnaround in New Orleans, which would have been convenient for returning home. That makes his early removal in Cozumel seem unusual — unless there was an operational reason, such as a replacement crew member needing the cabin, or a disciplinary issue requiring immediate disembarkation.
