Does the P&A pay for medical evacuation? That would be the one that would hit me the hardest. I'd just as soon buy it through you, Rita....give you some points or something.

Yeah, Coxswain is from Belfast and he used to be quite mellow......now you know what you're gonna be like when you get older, PH:D

That RC stuff will make you older before your time Rita......don't let it get to you:).

Morning............

We never get insurance either, but know we should.......My inlaws are still waiting for a refund for her visit to the medical facility on NV...cost about $1500..they had to pay first and now waiting for reimbursment...........I think if you have insurance,it should pay for you........are there any like that???

Up early to go "early birding" at Kohls.......................need some workout clothes..........I only have one pair of pants that fit.............

WELCOME HOME BB!!! Cant wait to hear all about it......................

PH, Did you notice I said Bill and I always buy Protect & Assist. Given our age, it makes the most sense! :D [] Price is based on age, and unless you are under 60, the difference in prices between the two types of insurance is quite a bit. You, being young (at least under 60, which I consider young these days) wouldn't have a huge difference in price between the two types. I don't know of any insurance that will pay the doctor onboard ship immediately. You usually have to pay and then get reimbursed. Maybe Berkeley Care does, as that is purchased thru the cruiseline. What the heck was the matter with them that they were charged so much money?

Tony, Yes, insurance will pay for medical evacuation. I think P & A pays up to 1/2 million dollars and CT&T pays 1 million. Unless you are going to the most unpopulated areas of the world, I think 1/2 million would get most of us back to the states. Also, both types will pay if you have to cancel for pre-existing conditions (and their definition of a pre-existing condition must have been written by a lawyer), but you have to purchase the insurance within 15 days of putting your original deposit down. We don't usually buy the insurance until final payment time, because even though the cruise deposit is refundable until final payment, the insurance payment is not. When BIll was undergoing treatments for his health issues, we did purchase the insurance within 15 days of deposit, but now we wait until final payment. I'll put a couple of brochures in the mail to you so you can compare them side by side.

BB, welcome home. Can't wait to hear about your trip.

PH - We did hire an attorney to dispute the termination hearing, but no telling how long that will take...the attorney did get the paperwork to the county within the time limit, but that was the day that the administrator put in his resignation and a new guy's in charge...put knowing the old administrator, this is better...so we'll just have to wait and see.

Rita - Gary's also itching to get back to work...but doesn't know about getting a job (although we've applied for many), since he's first choice is to go back and then when something he wants comes up (talking Disney) then leave.

San - we always get insurance...it's worth paying another $100 or so for the peace of mind. We've only done 15 cruises and have never needed it, but you never know. We always make sure of the medical evacuation policy, since that would be the biggie.

We are doing the cruise in May. We'll need it, no matter which way this goes.

Have a good Saturday...roasting a turkey and need to see how it's doing...

We're back!!!! Got home around 1 and have just been taking it easy all afternoon. We had a great time. Met some really interesting people and some that I'd have to kill, if I had to see them every day of my life!:lol

The brewery tour was a lot of fun. Thanks for recommending it, PH. Ended up being a private tour and the other couple who had booked it never showed up. I also made sure to say hello to almost everyone on your list. Never got a chance to see Mary Ann. She was always busy when we would pass by. Carlos, as well as the bartender in the CL took great care of us. He booked our dinner in advance at Portofino and that too was delicious, as usual. All in all, the cruise was very enjoyable, even considering very minor cutbacks along the way.

Rita - Congrats on your upgrade. Good for you. Our cruise was completely sold out, so we got nothing.:( Met others in the CL that were upgraded, but we didn't stand a chance. One old guy was with his "lady friend". They've got 87 points!!!!! Darn sure they got their upgrade!

San - I'm impressed that you've really been holding up your end around here. I'm glad you and your friends have solved all the world's problems. It's about time!

PQ - Sorry Gary hasn't had any luck with finding a job. It's a real tough market out there right now.

Sorry I missed when those threads on CC turned nasty. Just my luck!

Time to get off here and convince Bert to go out for some fried chicken. There's not a snowball's chance in h*ll that I'm cooking tonight! See ya tomorrow ...

First chance I've had to stop by today. First a friend came over for a drink and some chit chatting. Shortly after she left, along came Kris, Gary & the kids. They finally left to pick up stuff for dinner. We're going over there to eat ... Woo Hoo!!!!

Of course we made it to the piano bar. Vory even gave us one of his CDs. Last 2 nights we couldn't even get in there due to the crowds. He had been discovered!

Some more tidbits about the cruise - - - - - Shortly after we docked in Cozumel, I opened the drapes to go out on the balcony. Lo and behold docked right next to us was the Carnival Holiday. That was the first ship we ever were on and created this obsession we have today. In all these years, that's the first time we've seen her. Boy, is she showing her age!
Actually came home with more money than I left with! The good news is that I was playing video poker and hit a royal straight flush!!!!!::eek: The bad news is that I had only put a quarter in the machine!:( 250 quarters was better than nothing. I also won 250 quarters on the Run for the Money slot machine. Both times I actually took my winnings and walked away from the machines. :D

Time to get ready and head out of here. Now I have to find some wine to bring with me.

Nice sunny day.....if only it was a bit warmer!:(

I woke up to 9 inches of snow, still snowing and blowing. I went to move my car so the plows can clear my space, and the doors and windows were coated with ice.......cleared off the car, finally got in, went to move it, and the snow started blowing so hard I couldn't see much, and I hit a snowbank. The car got stuck. I had to get out, climb over the snowbank, come back to the condo and get the shovel, then shovel the car out of the snowbank. I can't wait until next week! I am so sick of winter!

BB, how was the CL on your cruise? I checked the availability this morning, and it looks like our cruise is sold out. Did you find it crowded? You mentioned the Piano Bar. I'm assuming that's the Schooner? Am I correct? The piano player is pretty good, I guess. I figure we'll be running into spring breakers, but that's a small price to pay (I think) for escaping this winter.

I was going to head into the office, but the owner called me and said he had to shovel a parking space out for his car. No way am I doing that. I guess I'll just work from home today.......or maybe just not work at all!

Time for a cup of tea to warm me up.

DID I SAY I HATE THIS WEATHER!!!!!!!

Good morning from chilly Kissimmee. I know it's nothing like what you're putting up with Rita, but it's d*mn cold for us Floridians. Plus we have very strong winds complicating things.

I've already got dinner going in the crock pot - lamb shanks. The smell is already so good ... It's going to be a very long day before we get to eat tonight.

PH - Yep, that was a typo. Kory is what I meant to type. Sometimes fingers have a mind of their own!;) Kory performs in the Schooner Bar from 10 to 1. The guy in there before that was boring, so that was casino or, if there was time after dinner, CL time.

Considering that our cruise was also sold out, it was not a problem getting a seat in the CL. Carlos also had a pile of chairs stacked up on the side in case more seats were needed. My biggest complaint was that the hot snacks were not hot - just barely warm. Carlos also has a bartender to help him. They both did a fantastic job of making sure we were never without a drink. Even when they were getting ready to close, they both came around to serve one more drink. Needless to say, they both got a good tip!

Rita - I do hope you and Bill are staying put today. Just the thought of that much snow gives me chills. Looking at our long range forecast, you should be arriving to temps in the low 80s. Bet that will give you something to look forward to every time you look out your window this week!

Good morning. Raining here, but nothing like the North East weather. John flew to Virginia yesterday morning and got into IAD on time just before they closed.......some of his buddies had very long delays and got in after midnight.

We had a very nice busy weekend. Saturday the family went up to Vacaville for a tour of the Jelly Belly factory.......the women spent time in the outlet stores....then a great dinner at Chevy's. Vacaville is 110 miles form here, so it was quite a day. Yesterday, Anthony and I drove down to Santa Margarita [180 miles south]to check out a ATV place......good thing we did, as it was not adequate for our needs with virtually no place to set up a camp. Trousers and Poet got to do some running around in the wild, so it was good for them. Yesterday evening, Nancy and I took Angelia to dinner at Mimi's to help her pass the time until John returns next Friday.......we'll invite her to dinner later this week.

Stock Market is the pits.....wonder when there is going to be a little good news that will turn things around some.

Thanks for sending the brochures, Rita.....I'll check them out and let you know.

BB, I'm glad that your cruise was a good one....and that there were not too many cutbacks.

Is Dennis excited about his truck, PH.....is it nicer than the old one......fancy options....or about the same?

Glad that your cruise is still on, PQ. Somehow, we have to keep doing some of the enjoyable things in this deplorable economy.....cut back on other things to compensate. Anthony has a good phylosophy.......if a company raises prices on him....like the cable company....he calls up and cancels some of the niceties to bring the price down to the original price or lower....doesn't always work, but I like the way he thinks.
